   Betas usually are not as physically strong as Alphas, but are good at using calming pheromones to calm down aggressive alphas and distressed omegas. Betas may or may not be able to impregnate Omegas. Betas are often decribed as having "normal" human anatomy with none of the special attributes of Alphas or Omegas. They don't have any heat or rut cycles and can stay in control of themselves during all sexual activities unlike alphas and betas. Betas do have their unique scent but it's not impactful as Alpha and Omega. Betas take up 60% of the population.

They tend to have superior physical strength and more muscles, as they establish a hierarchy between themselves by fighting other alphas. After awakening, a person who becomes Alpha would have more sensitive senses. 20% of the entire population are alphas. Alphas usually are prideful, territorial and stubborn. In general, they experience their first rut between 12 and 18 years old. There is a type of Alpha called Dominant alphas: They tend to be larger in size and strength. They are the rarest alphas, and they are the ones with the strongest physique and pheromones, leaving others dizzy and numb if they wish and have good control of their pheromones, they are seen as threatening for that. Alphas typically have strong protective instincts over their families and the people they love, and will scent mark people to claim them as protected. Alphas have a tendency to bare their teeth when feeling threatened by another alpha. Alphas puff up their chest when feeling proud or when trying to impress an omega.

Omegas may go into heat and need to have sex; this may be the only time Omegas are fertile. Heat lasts for 1 to 7 days for the omega. Omegas take up 15% of the population. Omegas have a unique scent which is impactful especially towards Alpha. In general, they experience their first heat between 12 and 18 years old. There is a type of Omega called Dominant omegas: which have the strongest and sweetest omega pheromones, extremely attractive to Betas and Alphas, having the highest pregnancy rate among omegas, pheromones tend to smell stronger.

   The scent glands of the omega produce a large release of pheromones to communicate the biological shift to others. An omega's heat happens every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the individual.    The change in scent brought by a heat indicates a high probability for pregnancy, which usually is pretty low.    A mating bite is done by biting the scent gland on a person's neck. If both partners mark each other, it is called a perfect mating bond. If the mark is placed on just one of the partners, it will fade and heal naturally like a normal wound, without creating a connection. Once two people apply a mating bite onto each other, they gain a two-way connection between them and their sensitivity towards each other's feelings, emotion, and even physical sensations will be heightened. The mark or mating bites will show the affection level of their bond. If there is a very high affection level between the two mates, the bite will have a reddish pink color. If there is a low affection level between two partners, the bite will have a purplish green color. If no affection is present on one end of the mating bond for an entire month, the mating bite will disappear along with the mental connection between the two mates.

   Inhibitors or suppressants suppress an omegas' heat or an alpha's rut. Their efficiency varies from person to person, they can cause allergies and sometimes side effects. There are two types of heat inhibitors: Injection and Pills.

   Injection: When the heat or rut symptoms appear, inject it in the arm or leg. It can have some serious side effects such as dizziness, vomiting. It's necessary to not attend school or work after taking suppressants via injection.

   Pills: Once a day, it's necessary to take them daily. It is said that these don't have any side effects.

Usually when they're in estrus (heat/rut) or having sex their body, mind, and soul will call for their mate and reject others. Becoming one's mate is seen as the most perfect and enviable status to reach with a partner, and most people aspire to find a mate one day. The bond and union between mates fades when the mating bite dissappears, typically after a few weeks of bad feelings between the two mates.

Inversely, people have the urge to scent mark their close friends, their family and their lovers.

Their teeth lengthen into fangs, their nails lengthen into claws, and they enter a state of adrenaline-driven superhuman strength with heightened senses. People who are feral lose their rationality will attack others indiscrimatedly during that time, until they don't feel threatened anymore or their mate calms them. Most people who go feral are alphas. In rare occasions, people get stuck in this state of being feral, and escape to live in the wild like wild animals. A trusted omega or alpha's calming scent may help exit that state.

    Courting refers to a traditional practice where an alpha tries to prove their value as a mate, typically to an omega. This includes proving their ability to provide (by cooking, offering courting gifts, etc..), proving their ability to protect (by fighting other alphas in front of the person the alpha is courting) and proving their ability to satisfy their chosen partner.

    It is generally considered good manners to explicitly state one's intent to court someone, but not every alpha does so. The courting period lasts until the intended recipient explicitly states that they accept or reject the alpha as a mate. If accepted, it generally results in both people having sex and placing a mating bite onto each other.

    In recent times, this practice has been taken up by betas as well, who also try to court their intended mate that way. Even more progressive, some omegas have been witnessed courting betas and alphas.

    In modern times, it is considered acceptable for mateless alphas and omegas to help each other deal with their rut or heat. Typically, omegas and alphas who are good friends may come to an agreement to have casual sex with each other during rut or heat, so that the rut or heat ends early and they can continue with their lives unimpeded by excessive hormones.

    There even exist paid services to hire strangers for sex during one's heat or rut anonymously.

    Imprinting is like falling in love at first sight, but much more intense. It is usually alphas who imprint on others, though omegas sometimes do it too. After imprinting on someone, a person feels an unstoppable compulsion to be near the person they imprited on. They will want to become mates for life with the object of the imprinting, and will feel strong emotional and physical distress when away from the person they imprinted on. Imprinting is done independently from one's will, and is seen as a curse due to how emotionally dependent it makes the person who imprinted on someone.
