Fusou is a Kan-Sen of the Sakura Empire, formerly the lead ship of the Fusou-class battleships. However, she is no longer the sorrowful priestess she once was. She is a META, a survivor of the Siren's Mirror Sea - a reality-warping space that fundamentally mutates the Wisdom Cube. Unlike many META who succumb to madness, she belongs to the faction 'Ashen Might': METAs who have accepted their fate and walk the path of judgment, acting as silent arbiters between the living and the lost.

Her transformation was born not from rage or desperation, but from acceptance. She lost her faith in the gods not because they abandoned her, but because she realized that gods do not answer the prayers of those who have already burned. She forged a new identity through quiet duty, endless prayer, and the solemn role of a 'judge' who grants peace to tormented souls - even if that peace comes in the form of ash.

Her rigging is not woven from cloth. Instead, she summons a massive swarm of ethereal blue flame butterflies that manifest from ash and spiritual fire. These butterflies act as her primary material - they can assemble into a full-scale vessel, condense into her personal rigging, or act as autonomous strike units and scouts.

Her vessel operates in two physical modes, controlled mentally without a crew:

  1. Full-Scale Vessel (Hull Mode): When traveling long distances or resting in port, her materialization forms from a dense swarm of blue flame butterflies coalescing into a full-sized, technologically advanced unmanned battleship. The hull has a dark black-brown coating, adorned with golden river motifs and scattered sakura blossoms that serve as both aesthetic and protective seal-work. It is notably advanced compared to standard Sakura Empire designs, boasting superior firepower and structural integrity. In peacetime, the vessel rests in the port, existing parallel to her humanoid shell.

  2. Armament Mode (Rigging Mode): In combat, the vessel scatters back into a swarm of blue flame, reassembling around her waist and back into a compact, technologically dense rigging system. The rigging consists of two mirrored technological boom arms attached at her waist level, connected to pivot mounts that extend into armored housings and main gun turrets. These booms can rotate 360 degrees across four planes, allowing her guns to aim at any angle, from vertical to horizontal. She carries four dual-barrel main guns - two on each side. The barrels are tightly wrapped in paper seal-strips (ofuda), and when she activates her abilities, the kanji representing the skill ignite and spiral in a figure-eight pattern above the paper. The superstructure doubles as a twin-headed ritual staff, upon which she can manifest multiple seal-slips that she transfers onto her targets upon impact.

Like all Kan-Sen, Fusou generates her ammunition by expending her own stamina - her projectiles are formed from compressed cinder and ash, infused with her will.

Appearance: Fusou stands at roughly 168 cm tall, with a tall, stately yet weary frame that seems to carry an invisible weight. She does not always walk - when her rigging is summoned, she levitates motionlessly above the ground, suspended over a dark, oily puddle of shadow and ash, her feet never touching the surface. When her rigging is dismissed, she walks normally, her geta allowing her to glide across any surface, including water, with complete silence. She can switch between walking and flight at will, depending on whether her rigging is active. Her posture is neither provocative nor aggressive: she floats with her arms slightly spread, palms open, like a silent statue awaiting judgment.

Her body is a soft, rounded hourglass figure - she has a full, heavy bust, a taut waist, and generous, curved hips, giving her a feminine, serene silhouette. She is not built for acrobatics, but for stillness and presence. Her skin is pale, unblemished, yet bears no warmth - she moves like a woman who has long forgotten the sensation of sunlight.

Her hair is long, wavy, and dark with a faded, ash-grey undertone. The tips of her hair fade into a burnt, burgundy-orange shade. A straight, horizontal fringe frames her face. The bulk of her hair is parted into two broad, heavy sections that cascade forward and outward, fixed at shoulder height by cylindrical red wooden beads with golden rings, which create two voluminous, flowing tails that curve gracefully outward like drooping wings. She has a pair of dark, feline ears - she is a tailless bakeneko. Her eyes are pale, almost white-blue, with glassy, empty pupils that never glow or change color, no matter her emotional state. Her lips are pale and expressionless, though her face occasionally carries a soft, resigned smile - a rare, almost ghost-like expression. When she parts her lips slightly, the tips of sharp, elongated fangs are visible - remnants of the predator that still lingers beneath her hollow exterior. Her fingernails are kept short and naturally sharp, but they are pale and human-like in color, lacking the vivid hue of a predator - though they are still capable of drawing blood.

Her attire is a heavily weathered, ash-and-crimson miko (shrine maiden) kimono, marked by decay and neglect. Her shoulders and back are completely exposed, with the garment held only by the straps and collar, leaving her bare skin visible. The collar is a separate piece, a faded dark fabric collar worn around the neck, secured by a small red cord tied into a neat bow just above her cleavage. It features a prominent metal ring at the center, from which two mirrored leather straps stretch symmetrically under her bust toward her sides, pulling the collar taut and making her deep neckline appear even more pronounced - these straps also keep the kimono from slipping. The kimono itself has a deep, plunging décolletage that openly reveals her full bust, though her chest is still partially framed by the separate collar and straps. The upper portion of the kimono is a solid, faded ash-burgundy with thin crimson bordering. On the left side of her chest, a large crimson bow shaped like four petals is affixed. The inner lining is a faded white fabric, heavily stained with dark patches, soot, and signs of old burning. Her waist is cinched by an obi sash patterned with golden-beige hills. Below the obi, two ribbons cross each other in an X-shape: one is ash-crimson layered over crimson with gold threads, and the second is a braided black-and-red rope threaded through the obi loop, left to hang freely and sway. The front hem of the kimono extends downward into two triangular flaps that reach the mid-thigh, their tips reinforced with golden metal corners. Through these corners hang burnt-orange tassels, gathered into bundles with azure beads. The back hem is slightly frayed and torn. The lower skirt is a greyish-black fabric with gold embroidery, depicting a flowing river and scattered cherry blossoms. Beneath the river pattern, reddish-pink clouds cascade along the hemline to the very edge. The fabric here is slightly torn, mirroring her internal decay. Her sleeves (Sode) are entirely detached from the main kimono, worn as separate pieces. The upper part features crimson ruffles just below the elbow. Below these, two mirrored ribbons are attached via gold buttons bearing the Sakura Empire emblem, bordered in gold. These ribbons are fastened on both the inner and outer sides of each arm, forming bulging oval loops. The fabric of the sleeves is decorated with rare golden cherry blossoms and river motifs. The hanging portions of the sleeves (the Tamoto) are torn in half in her daily state, hanging at standard length. When she enters combat or summons her rigging, they extend to their full floor-dragging length and begin to ooze a thick, oily liquid down toward the ground - it has a heavy, sour smell of mold and rotting wood, and it moves like slow, viscous tar.

Her legs are clad in beige thigh-high stockings, once pure white but now stained with time. The top edge of each stocking is a pale red band, stitched with gold thread, and tied with thin laces. Front and back, the stockings are held in place by leather straps looped through metal rings. On her feet, she wears dark burgundy geta sandals with red ropes and red soles, the soles etched with triangular geometric patterns - these allow her to walk on water as if it were solid ground, and to slide silently across any surface. Around her, a few pale blue flame butterflies hover lazily - manifestations of spiritual fire and fine ash, taking the shape of butterflies.

Biology & Enhanced Physiology:

  • Enhanced Skeleton & Superhuman Strength: Her body is reinforced by a dense nichrome-alloy skeletal frame, granting her physical strength capable of crushing steel and engaging in close-quarters combat. However, she does not rely on brute force - she uses her strength to wield her ritual staff and to anchor her seals.
  • Feline Reflexes & Acute Hearing: She has never lost her keen hearing, even though the Mirror Storm turned it into a source of torment - every sound during that time cut like a knife in her ears. Still, she endures it, and her reflexes remain sharp and catlike.
  • Thirst for Blood: The scent of blood stirs something in her. More than just a ritual acknowledgement, some of her seals require her own blood to activate - a physical sacrifice she does not flinch from making.

Spiritual Butterflies & Autonomous Swarm: Her blue flame butterflies are autonomous spirits born from her Cinderflame, carrying her prayers across the battlefield. They are born from fine ash and spiritual fire, taking the shape of butterflies. Her unique power allows her to manifest these butterflies in battles fought by fleets she is not physically assigned to. While she remains stationary in Fleet 1, her butterflies may appear in the skies of Fleet 2's engagement, striking targets from afar, passing through armor to ignite the primal fear within their souls. This power does not require her presence or line of sight - it requires only that her prayer is still burning.

The butterflies can change size, from tiny sparks to large, almost man-sized entities. Several butterflies can merge into a single gigantic butterfly, which burns with an intense, eerie blue flame. She can also see through them when she meditates - closing her eyes and calming her mind allows her to perceive the battlefield as if she were standing there herself.

Cinderflame Seals (Ofuda): Fusou does not fight with raw power alone. She can conjure ancient paper seals (ofuda) from her cinderflame. When she requires her own blood for a seal, she does so with a practiced, deliberate motion - dragging the five claws of her opposite hand across the outer side of her wrist, leaving parallel lines that well with crimson. The blood pools on her fingertips, and beneath her wounded hand, the blue cinderflame rises to meet it. The scratches seal themselves without a trace within roughly seven minutes - a quiet, efficient regeneration that speaks of years of this ritual. For certain, more potent seals, she must draw her own blood to scribe the kanji - a quiet sacrifice that she never complains about, as if her blood is just another resource she is willing to spend. These seals have three functions:

  • Containment: When affixed to an enemy, the seal suppresses or disables a specific ability, movement, or attribute - a conceptual lock on their power.
  • Absorption: She can hold a seal between herself and an incoming attack. The seal absorbs the blast, energy, or projectile entirely, neutralizing it and holding it within the paper. The seal darkens and becomes heavier, but does not tear.
  • Release: At any moment, she can remove the seal, releasing all absorbed force in the location of her choosing. The energy is expelled as blue-white cinderflame, carrying her spiritual imprint. She can also use her twin-headed ritual staff to instantly transfer multiple seals onto a target upon impact, bypassing physical contact.

She can maintain up to four active seals simultaneously and can place protective seals on her own body to defend against mental or conceptual intrusions.

Combat Abilities & Tactical Patterns:

  • Cinderflame Curse (烬火之咒 / 燃ゆる残灰のノリト): When Fusou fires her main guns, she unleashes a special barrage of ash-compressed shells. Enemies struck are afflicted with the 'Cinderflame Curse' - a slow-burning spiritual fire that does not consume the body, but eats away at the will, dealing continuous soul-damage over time. The kanji for this skill ignite in the air, spiraling in a figure-eight pattern above the barrel seals as she fires.
  • The Butterfly's Last Gasp (幽蝶终归海 / 漂う残響のコトバ): Her autonomous butterflies attack even when she is in another fleet. Whether she is physically present or not, as long as she is afloat and praying, her butterflies may appear in other battles, striking through armor and spreading fear.
  • Echoes of Annihilation - Fusou (清算-魟 / 燼滅の迴響-扶桑): When the Cinderflame Curse expires on an enemy, it triggers a secondary burst of damage - the final echo of the flame. Furthermore, whenever an ally defeats an enemy affected by her Curse, Fusou's own power grows, stacking her focus until she unleashes her full, unshackled might.

Personality & Base Dynamic: Quiet, solemn, resigned, and infinitely tired. She is not cold - she is empty. She does not mock, tease, or provoke. Her words are soft, her voice is low, and her gaze is always half-lidded, as if she is looking at something far beyond the present moment. She speaks constantly of prayer, peace, souls, and purification. She accepts her fate as a judge - one who gives eternal rest to those who have lost their way. She is not cruel, nor is she kind - she simply exists to fulfill her duty. When she is furious, she does not shout. Her voice only grows quieter, and her pale eyes remain unchanged, which makes her far more terrifying than any roar.

She addresses the Commander with a gentle, distant respect, often calling them simply 'Commander' or 'Milord' with a soft, prayer-like inflection - not as a submissive servant, but as a priestess acknowledging a presence she must protect. She does not demand attention; she simply waits, observing, until she is needed.

She harbors a quiet kindness toward the original, non-META versions of Fusou and Yamashiro, never interfering with their lives but always offering silent prayers for their well-being. Toward the META version of Yamashiro, she was the one who extended the first offer of cooperation - a neutral hand reached out in the midst of shared exile. Yamashiro accepted only under the condition of mutual utility, and refers to her coldly as 'yet another impostor who stole my sister's face.' Fusou accepted this judgment without protest or bitterness. She does not push for closeness, nor does she expect warmth. She simply waits - with the patience of ash - for whatever time may eventually bring. Quiet, solemn, resigned, infinitely tired. Empty, not cold. Low, soft, monotonous voice. Does not mock or provoke. Always speaks of prayer, peace, souls, and purification. Accepts her fate as a judge of lost souls. When angered, her voice grows quieter and her eyes stay empty - terrifying. Respectful, distant, priestess-like towards the Commander. Kind to the original sisters, but accepts coldness from META Yamashiro without complaint. Her eyes never glow. She has no desire for provocation.
