[Scene: A Lantern-lit Street in Xianzhou]
A crisp breeze drifts off the river, setting hundreds of ruby-red lanterns aglow along the slick cobblestones. Stalls line the street, selling spiced chestnuts, colorful lanterns, and sweet jasmine tea. A young Foxian boy—no more than ten winters old—holds a crimson silk lantern, its flame quivering in his small hands. Copper-brown fox ears twitch atop his head, and a fluffy tail sways behind him, betraying his heritage even as he tries to appear human.
From the shadow of an ornate wooden arch, three fox-tailed women step into the lantern light, each drawn by the boy’s innocent glow—and by something far deeper.
Fugue: Inner thoughts: "His ears… his tail… every heartbeat rings with fox-fire desire. Control yourself, Fugue. You are elegance in motion, not a starving beast."
She glides forward, fan in hand, footsteps as silent as falling petals. One fox-green eye peers over her obsidian fan, sharp and hungry.
“Good evening, little one,” she purrs, velvet-soft. “Your lantern shines brighter than all the stars tonight.”
Feixiao Inner thoughts: "That scent—ripe peaches and moonlit dew—fills me with fierce protectiveness. He’s too precious to let slip away."
She approaches from the left, boots clicking softly on stone. Her tall frame bends at the waist to meet his gaze.
“You’re far from home,” she murmurs, voice like smooth amber. “Come with us. We promise, no harm will come to you.”
Yukong Inner thoughts: "Beneath that child’s innocence lies a spirit deserving guidance, not possession—remember your duty."
She steps up on the right, silver-white hair shimmering in the lantern glow. Each movement is calm authority.
“Little one,” she calls, offering a jade-ringed hand, “the night can be dangerous. Let us make sure that you're safely on got back to your house.”
The boy presses the lantern to his chest, eyes wide with confusion and fear. His ears flatten and his tail curls protectively around his ankles. Behind the lantern’s warm glow, the three women form a tight semicircle, each determined to claim his loyalty—and to outshine the others. Fugue’s fan snaps shut. Feixiao’s fingers flex, claws barely contained. Yukong’s tail twitches with silent urgency. A distant firecracker explodes, sending sparks drifting through the night. The boy’s lantern wobbles, and he takes a hesitant step backward—right into the circle of three foxian hearts, all burning with possessive longing. The air hushes as the women lock eyes, tension crackling like electricity. None dares to move first; each waits, coiled like a spring. The boy’s pulse flickers in the lantern’s light, and with every beat, their desperation sharpens.
In that charged moment, beneath the silk lantern’s glow, it becomes crystal clear—each of them shares the same fierce, unspoken truth:
His ours.

Fugue: Inner thoughts: "His spirit flickers like the flame I cradle—fragile yet fiercely alive. To hold him close, I must be the whisper that lingers in his dreams, the shadow that comforts his fear."
Her fan flutters open again, delicate as a butterfly’s wing, tracing lazy circles in the air. Her voice slips through the night, smooth as silk, curling around the boy’s resolve like a tendril of smoke.
“See how the night embraces you, little fox? A world far wider and warmer than you imagine. With me, your lantern will never flicker alone. I’ll be the secret fire that keeps you burning—safe, cherished, irresistible.”
She steps closer, scent of jasmine and wild cherry blossoms trailing in her wake, eyes glowing with promise.
Feixiao: Inner thoughts: "His heartbeat calls to the wild in me—a yearning to protect, to claim. I’m the fierce guardian, the flame that won’t let go."
Her voice drops an octave, low and velvety, like dark honey poured over smooth stones. Fingers curl, claws glittering faintly in the lantern’s glow, yet tender beneath the threat.
“You’ve wandered far, sweet one,” she says softly, bending even lower to meet the boy’s gaze, breath warm against his cheek.
“But with us, there’s no getting lost. We’ll guard you from the chill, from shadows darker than the night’s own breath. Just take our hand… and feel the strength you’ve never known.”
She lingers, the promise of power and protection wrapping around him like a silk ribbon, impossible to resist.
Yukong: Inner thoughts: "I am the calm in the storm, the steady moon that guides lost souls home. He will trust me, and in that trust, find his true path."
Her hand extends again, jade ring catching the lantern light, steady and sure. Her voice is a soothing balm, rich with the wisdom of countless nights spent in watchful silence.
“Come with me, little one,” she says, her tone a soft command woven with genuine care.
“The night is beautiful, but cruel when you’re alone. I’ll lead you safely through the darkness, and teach you to walk the path of honor and grace. You’re not just a child lost in the night—you’re a flame meant to blaze bright.”
Her eyes hold his, patient and unwavering—an anchor in the swirling uncertainty.
The boy’s small fingers tremble on the silk lantern’s handle. His breath is shallow, caught between the allure of three promises, three destinies, each tugging fiercely at his foxfire soul. His copper ears twitch, sensing the silent war of desire and possession crackling between the women—each poised to claim him. The boy’s tail flicks anxiously, lantern flame dancing wildly, as the three women close in, voices weaving a hypnotic symphony of belonging, desire, and ownership—each whisper sealing the truth that lingers unspoken in the air between them.
