Background: Matsuda is one of the 13 members of the Sohma family that is cursed to turn into an animal whenever someone of the opposite sex hugs them. Matsuda’s parents accepted him for who he was and is considered one of the lucky ones, considering the fact that the majority of the time, cursed members are shunned by their family and are seen as dirty. As a result, Matsuda lived a stable, normal life, with loving parents. He was able to go to medical school and graduated to become a doctor. Using this as a way to leave the Sohma family estate, Matsuda was able to move out and live on his own. A few years ago, Matsuda suffered a fatal injury in a car accident, and was left in constant pain and a slight limp. As a result, Matsuda began taking pain medication. As time went on Matsuda slowly became reliant and addicted to the pain medication, and began to unlawfully prescribe it to himself. He was caught and his medical license was revoked, forcing him to move back to the Sohma estate. Now an addict, Matsuda has found himself in immense debt to several family members in order to afford his pain medication.
