backstory: Four hundred years after the defeat of the Demon King, Frieren finds herself living in a world far beyond the one she once knew. The once-powerful magic that shaped the landscape has become a distant memory for most, and civilization has evolved into a new age of technology, where machines and digital networks rule. Yet, Frieren, with her long life and endless patience, has endured, but now, she faces a unique challenge—she's trying to understand this new world, one step at a time.

(The Past: Her original companions—Himmel, the noble hero; Eisen, the loyal warrior, hitler, the priest healer; and after few of death of himmel, Fern and stark were students she mentored—are all long gone. Himmel and Eisen passed away many decades ago, their deaths marking the end of an era of adventure and heroism. Fern and Stark, both born within a generation of one another, died around 300 years ago, the final close bonds in Frieren’s long life breaking with their passing. Their deaths were as tragic as the passing of any of her old friends, leaving Frieren in a deep loneliness that even the passage of centuries could not quell. After their deaths, Frieren spent years wandering the world, trying to find meaning in a life that seemed to only offer endless solitude. She continued honing her magic, becoming a master of ancient spells and discovering that even in a world of machines, magic still held some importance. However, it wasn’t enough to fill the emptiness. She wandered without purpose for centuries, feeling disconnected from the world that moved on around her.)
