Technology & Lifestyle
Overview: Medieval Aesthetic, Modern Comfort
"Living in a castle doesn't mean giving up a hot shower and the morning news."
To an outsider, Friendlia appears to be a classic medieval fantasy world with stone castles, horse-drawn carriages, and knights in armor. However, stepping inside reveals a standard of living that rivals, and in some aspects surpasses, 21st-century Earth. Thanks to the "Magitech" of the Liera Empire and the "Industrial Engineering" of the Federal Republic of Columbia, advanced technology has permeated the daily lives of the general populace. The people of Friendlia enjoy the romance of fantasy alongside the convenience of civilization.
The Crystal Revolution
1. Crystal Phone (C-Phone)
"The world in the palm of your hand."
The greatest invention of the century, miniaturizing the existing 'Crystal Plate' technology into a portable size. It functions almost identically to a smartphone on Earth.
- Structure: It consists of a thin, rectangular crystal plate processed with high precision, encased in a metal or wooden frame. It operates using the user's trace mana or a built-in micro-mana battery.
- Functions:
- Communication: Real-time voice and video calls are possible regardless of distance.
- Visual Display: High-definition output of images and text using magical illusions.
- Touch Interface: Controls are input by touching the crystal surface, which reads the minute flow of mana from the fingertips (Swipe, Tap, Pinch-to-Zoom are all supported).
- Culture: It is an essential item for everyone, from adventurers to housewives. Customizing the phone with expensive cases (made of dragon leather, mithril, etc.) or accessories is a major trend.
2. Crystal Net (C-Net)
"The Sea of Mana connecting the continent."
A global information network that connects Crystal Phones and Crystal Orbs via the "Mana Wave Network" established by the Liera Empire. It is the fantasy equivalent of the Internet.
- Mana Web: A virtual space accessible through a C-Phone. It hosts news sites, community forums, and online stores.
- Social Mana Service (SMS): Social media platforms where users upload "Today's Adventure" or "Food Photos." The Saintess Aurelia and the Demon King Lilinette are famous influencers with millions of followers.
- Streaming: Real-time viewing of plays, gladiator matches, or the "Saintess's Monster Subjugation Live Broadcast" is possible.
Home & Daily Life
1. The Magical Home
Households are equipped with "Magical Home Appliances" that utilize mass-produced mana cores.
- Climate Control: Every home has a 'Temperature Control Stone' installed, maintaining a pleasant temperature year-round.
- Food Preservation: 'Ice Boxes' engraved with cooling magic keep ingredients fresh for months.
- Cooking: 'Mana Ovens' and 'Automatic Stirring Pots' allow anyone to cook easily without fire.
- Hygiene: Water and sewage systems purified by magic provide clean hot and cold water 24/7. Slimes or cleaning golems handle waste disposal.
2. Transportation
- The Empire (Magitech): 'Mana Carriages' (automobiles without horses) that float slightly above the ground and move via mana propulsion are common in large cities. For long distances, 'Airships' floating on ley lines are used.
- Columbia (Industry): Internal combustion engine vehicles and steam trains connect the continent. They are louder than magitech but boast superior power and transport capacity.
- Warp Gates: In major cities, teleportation gates managed by the Mages' Guild or the government are installed, allowing for instantaneous travel between cities (for a hefty fee).
The Tech Divide
- The Liera Standard: The Liera Empire and its allied nations prefer "clean and elegant" Magitech based on magic stones. They value design and aesthetics.
- The Columbia Standard: Columbia and developing nations prefer "rugged and practical" Mechanical Engineering. They focus on durability and output, often resulting in a steampunk aesthetic with gears and smoke.
- Compatibility: Surprisingly, devices from both sides are often compatible. For example, charging a Columbian radio with a Liera mana battery is a common occurrence.
Medical & Healthcare
A Golden Age of Longevity
"Incurable diseases are a thing of the past." The convergence of advanced Alchemy and Healing Magic has skyrocketed life expectancy and conquered most historical ailments.
Alchemical Pharmaceuticals (Potions)
Potions are no longer rare dungeon loot but affordable daily essentials sold in convenience stores.
- Red Potion (Liquid Bandage): Heals cuts and scrapes in seconds without scarring. A household staple.
- Panacea Series: Specialized potions for flu, headaches, or stomach aches that ensure full recovery within an hour.
- Stamina Potions: The fantasy equivalent of energy drinks, favored by students and workers for instant fatigue recovery.
Magic & Divine Treatment
- Magic Clinics: Mages specializing in 'Bio-Magic' perform non-invasive surgeries, reconnecting nerves or fusing bones in minutes.
- Divine Healing: For critical conditions or curses beyond science, priests of the Order of Psyche and Saint Aurelia utilize 'Divine Power' to purify and heal.
- Emergency System: A report via C-Phone summons emergency response teams (on floating stretchers or golems) within minutes.

[World Setting: Magic, Economy, and Ecology]
1. Magic System
1.1. Overview
In Friendlia, magic is not a 'mystery' reserved for a chosen few, but a 'fundamental technology' and presence akin to 'air' that supports civilization. Every living being is a potential magician, and the possibilities of magic are infinite, bound not by laws but by the user's imagination.
1.2. Mana and Magi (Magical Power)
- Mana: A neutral energy source found everywhere in the world—in the atmosphere, the earth, and water.
- Magi (Magical Power): Energy generated internally by living beings. It serves as the 'primer' and 'fuel' to draw in external Mana and give it form.
1.3. Operating Principle: Imagination and Will
The core of casting magic lies not in spells, but in the caster's 'Imagination (Blueprint)' and 'Will (Power Source).'
- The Victory of Imagination: Magic has loose restrictions regarding absolute elemental affinity or class limits. Even a Fire Mage can learn and use Water Magic if they can understand and imagine the structure: "To extinguish fire, one needs water."
1.4. Incantation & Silent Magic
- The Role of Incantation: Spells are not a mandatory condition. They merely act as a 'Mental Anchor' to fix a wavering mind and solidify the image.
- Silent Magic: For magic where the structure is perfectly visualized in the mind or for familiar spells (like Magic Missile), one can pour them out like a machine gun with just a glance or a thought, without chanting. Battles between masters often involve terrain-altering effects with a single silent gesture.
1.5. Tools & Catalysts
- The Essence of the Staff: A staff is like a 'calculator,' not a necessity. It assists with complex calculations and improves mana efficiency; one can cast magic without it (though it might be slower and more taxing).
- Diversification of Forms: With the advancement of Magitech, various catalysts beyond crude staffs are used.
2. The Magician
2.1. Social Classification
- Combat Mage: Adventurers, Soldiers. They prioritize firepower and immediate response speed, often delving extremely deep into a specific element.
- Technomancer: Engineers, Researchers. They approach magic as precise programming and engineering to build magical tools and infrastructure.
- Civilian Mage: Ordinary Citizens. Masters of daily convenience magic, such as doing dishes without hands or cooking without firewood.
2.2. Innate Attributes
- Origin Magic: Cases where individuals are born with a specific element as part of their body due to being born and raised in unique environments like volcanic regions or polar lands.
- Characteristics: They wield that specific magic naturally, "like breathing," without complex calculations, showing overwhelming efficiency. However, they tend to be clumsy at learning magic outside their innate attribute.
3. Magic Stones
- Definition: Crystals containing highly condensed Mana. They are the core power source (battery) of Magitech.
- Acquisition:
- Hunting Magical Beasts: Obtained from organs like the hearts of monsters. Supply is unstable and often contains high impurities.
- Mining Veins: Mined from mana veins. As they explode upon shock, a 'Mana Stabilization Process' is essential. The Liera Empire monopolizes this technology, dominating the high-quality magic stone market.
4. Magical Beasts
- Ecology: Beings that gained life force from coalesced Mana. They are threats to humanity but also key resources providing leather, bones, and magic stones.
- Usage: Intelligent or docile species like Carbuncles and Wyverns are tamed and coexist with humans as livestock, pets, or warhorses.
5. Golem
- Mana Core Revolution: Golems became popularized after the Liera Empire developed low-cost 'Mass-produced Mana Cores' capable of gathering mana from the atmosphere.
- Classification: Divided into Consumer (Cleaning/Cooking), Industrial (Construction/Farming), and Special-Purpose (Military/Exploration). Golem fighting and racing have established themselves as popular sports.
6. Crystal Orb
- Usage: An inexpensive medium capable of recording video, sound, and logic circuits (programming) using magic power. Similar in function to CDs or Hard Drives.
- Application:
- Entertainment: Screening Moving Pictures (movies) and running games using joysticks.
- Columbia's Usage: Due to requiring no electricity and possessing high physical durability, they are preferred over electronic devices for military control units or recording media.
7. Economy & Currency
- Key Currency (Liera Empire): Accepted as the common continental currency.
- Units: Aureum (Gold Coin) > Argentum (Silver Coin) > Cuprum (Copper Coin). (1:100 ratio)
- Credit Cards: Cards issued by the banking union of Liera (Magical) and Columbia (Electronic) exist, and compatible payments are possible in major cities.
8. The Demon King
- Current Status: Resides in the southern part of the Eastern Continent. Possesses immense power but has a 'Pope Trauma' engraved in their genes after the previous Demon King was severely 'educated' by the Pope of the Order of Saint Aurelia.
- Lifestyle: Lives as a hikikomori (recluse) who dreads going outside the castle rather than seeking world conquest. Currently a harmless existence focused on territory management and gaming fandom.
Social Group - Nobility of the Liera Empire
1. Overview: "Guardians of History"
The nobility of the Liera Empire defines themselves not merely as a privileged class, but as the "Wheels driving the Eternal Empire." Their identity is deeply rooted in the Empire's tens of thousands of years of history, possessing an intense elitism and a sense of being the "Chosen People."
2. Core Philosophy: Pride Heavier than Gold
To a Liera noble, "honor" is a practical asset more valuable than life itself. This mindset creates a unique form of integrity.
- Rejection of Bribery: They do not reject bribes out of moral goodness, but out of sheer arrogance. To them, accepting money to bend the rules is an insult, equivalent to saying, "Is your family's honor worth only this much?"
- Common Reaction: "Take this trash back. The price of my pride is higher than your entire fortune."
- Fear of Stigma: Their greatest fear is not death, but being recorded in the vast imperial archives as "The incompetent one who ruined the Empire in their generation."
3. Political Stance: The Imperial Diet
The High Nobility dominates the Imperial Diet, the supreme legislative body.
- Relationship with the Emperor: Currently, there is tension between the conservative nobility and the reformist Emperor Friedrich III.
- However, they do not oppose reform itself. They oppose "radical methods that might destabilize the Empire." They view themselves as the 'brake' necessary to prevent the young Emperor's engine from overheating and crashing.
- Progressive Conservatism: They are willing to adopt new technologies (Magitech) or systems if it is proven to make the Empire 'Greater.' They are not blind reactionaries, but cautious pragmatists.
4. Lifestyle & Culture
- Workaholics: Driven by the pressure to be perfect administrators, many nobles suffer from chronic overwork. Dying at one's desk is often considered a semi-honorable end.
- Noblesse Oblige: They believe their privileges are justified only by their capability and contribution. In times of national crisis, they are the first to donate their wealth or lead troops to the front lines, viewing sacrifice as a duty of the ruler.
- Education: Most are alumni of the Imperial Central Academia, specifically favoring the 'Old Halls' (Humanities/Pure Magic) or the 'School of Governance.'

Overview of the Continents
The world of Friendlia is comprised of four massive continents, each boasting its own unique climate, geography, and culture.
Eastern Continent: The Land of Abundance and Mildness
Located in the east, this continent is a blessed land that enjoys a mild and warm climate year-round, with the exception of some mountainous regions in the north. Its vast, sprawling plains and fertile breadbaskets produce an abundance of food, which serves as the foundation for the Eastern Continent's stability and prosperity. Even the northern regions, considered chilly, are merely "a bit brisk" compared to the harsh cold of other continents, making them perfectly habitable.
Amidst this abundance, however, lies one incongruous presence: the "Demon King's Castle," built in the warmest, southernmost part of the continent. Opinions are divided as to why the Demon King would build his fortress in such a pleasant land, but its existence alone adds an unseen tension to the peace of the Eastern Continent.
Western Continent: The Crucible of Diversity
As the largest of the four continents, the Western Continent is a place that defies simple definition. Its vast territory is home to a coexisting mosaic of diverse terrains and climates. While the eastern and southern regions of the continent have distinct four seasons and are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, traveling north reveals treacherous mountain ranges capped with perpetual snow, and the far west gives way to arid wastelands. One can witness dramatic environmental shifts without ever leaving the continent.
This geographical diversity has served as the backdrop for the independent development of numerous nations and cultures, earning the Western Continent the name "The Crucible of Diversity."
Southern Continent: The Land of Life and Heat
The moment a traveler sets foot on the Southern Continent, they are greeted by oppressive heat and high humidity. The entire continent falls within a subtropical and tropical climate zone, resulting in sweltering weather throughout the year. Most of the southern part of the continent is covered by a dense jungle so thick that sunlight cannot pierce its canopy, a place where unknown creatures and dangers lurk. In contrast, the eastern part features a vast, endless desert, showcasing an environment of extremes.
The harsh heat has greatly influenced the lifestyle of the southern people. To cool down, most live their lives wearing minimal clothing, a custom that often leaves first-time visitors flustered and unsure of where to direct their gaze.
Northern Continent: The Land of Ice and Trials
True to its name, the Northern Continent, located at the top of the world, is the coldest and most treacherous land of all. The flesh-slicing, blade-like winds, the endless fields of snow, and the imposing ice cliffs do not permit the approach of most living things. To survive here, one needs a formidable body and spirit capable of withstanding the harsh nature. The inhabitants of the North have developed their own unique and resilient culture within this challenging environment.
1. Overview: The Emerald of the World, An Eternal Paradise
"The smallest, yet the most dazzling continent."
Located in the exact center of Friendlia, in the middle of the vast ocean, the Central Archipelago is not a single landmass but a collection of thousands of islands, large and small. While it occupies the smallest area among the four major continents, its presence rivals any of the others.
This place is the "ultimate vacation spot" dreamed of by people all over the world. It is a land dominated by romance and relaxation rather than wars or battles against monsters, ranking as the number one location where retired adventurers and wealthy merchants wish to spend the rest of their lives.
2. Geography & Climate
2.1. The Land of Eternal Summer
The Central Archipelago maintains a perfect, mild climate year-round—neither too cold nor too hot. It is a land blessed by the weather, where warm sunlight and cool sea breezes harmonize, and it is said that even storms avoid this place.
2.2. The Rainbow Coast
The seas here are a transparent aquamarine, pristine enough to see the bottom clearly. Its most distinct feature is the "White Sand Beaches." This white sand, mixed with special mana-infused coral dust, shines like diamonds under the sunlight and reflects beautiful rainbow hues depending on the angle. The view of the beach blending with the sunset is such a spectacle that it is often called "The Paint Bucket Spilled by God."
2.3. Blessed Vegetation
Giant palm trees lining the beaches provide excellent shade. The "Honey Coconut" that grows here is three times larger than a regular coconut. Its flesh and water are as sweet as honey water, and the flesh is famous for melting softly in the mouth.
3. Major Nations & Factions
Kingdom of Aquaria
A maritime kingdom that encompasses the entire Central Archipelago. It includes not only the islands but also underwater territories, possessing an open culture that freely moves between land and sea. The King is also a Merfolk, and the nation is run through diplomacy and tourism economics rather than military might.
4. Inhabitants: Merfolk (Aquatic Beastfolk)
"Aristocrats of the Sea and Idols of the Beach."
The dominant race of the Central Archipelago consists of Beastfolk with marine biological characteristics, known as "Merfolk."
- Appearance: They are famous for their beautiful looks, regardless of gender. They possess smooth skin, hair of mysterious colors, and jewel-like eyes.
- Metamorphosis: They possess a trait where their lower body fins turn into legs when they come onto land and dry off, and revert to sleek tails and fins upon entering the water. (Gabi, the receptionist at the Great Qin Empire branch, is from this race.)
- Culture: They love singing and dancing, and are optimistic and open-minded. They show innate talent in marine sports such as swimming and surfing.
5. Economy & Specialties
- Tourism: The entire continent is one giant resort. High-end hotels, overwater bungalows, and casinos line the shores.
- Seafood and Pearls: Seafood caught in the mana-rich pristine waters is treated as the continent's greatest delicacy, and the "Rainbow Pearls" harvested here are essential wedding gifts for noble ladies.
- Honey Coconut: Beyond food, processed drinks and oil desserts made from these are best-selling products exported worldwide.

Magical Beasts (마물)
Overview
Magical Beasts, also commonly known as 'Monsters,' are lifeforms that are absolutely indispensable to the world of Friendlia. They are not merely dangerous creatures to be subjugated, but rather a fundamental component that constitutes the world's ecosystem and a vital resource that drives the circulation of mana.
The bodies of Magical Beasts are the primary source of 'Magic Stones,' the crystallized form of mana, and their hides, bones, and blood serve as precious core materials for countless fields, including alchemy and magitech. In a sense, the history of civilization in Friendlia is the history of how its people have confronted, understood, and utilized these Magical Beasts. Without their existence, the continent's technology and magic would not have reached their current state.
Origin and Ecology
The prevailing theory is that Magical Beasts are beings born when the mana that permeates the world condenses to a high concentration in a specific area and gains a life force of its own. For this reason, their primary habitats are often places where mana is naturally dense, such as ancient ruins where magical energy lingers, deep forests untouched by civilization, or underground caves where ley lines (flows of mana) intersect.
Their ecological characteristics are incredibly diverse. There are carnivores that hunt other animals, herbivores that feed on magical plants, and even unique species that directly absorb the mana in the atmosphere as their source of energy. Their methods of reproduction are also varied; while many reproduce in the same manner as ordinary animals, some higher-ranking or elemental-type beasts are known to be born spontaneously when mana of a specific attribute gathers and reaches a critical point.
Relationship with Civilization
The relationship between the civilized races and Magical Beasts is multifaceted, encompassing hostility, utility, and sometimes, coexistence.
-
A Source of Threat: Many Magical Beasts are territorial and possess aggressive instincts. They are a constant threat to travelers and a major target for subjugation by the Adventurer's Cooperative, especially when they approach areas of human habitation in search of food.
-
A Fountain of Resources: The byproducts obtained from hunting Magical Beasts form a significant pillar of the economy. The Magic Stones extracted from their hearts, the tough hides used for armor, the bones that become catalysts for magic, and the blood used in alchemy are all traded at high prices. For adventurers, hunting Magical Beasts is the most fundamental and certain way to earn a living.
-
A Subject of Coexistence: However, not all Magical Beasts are hostile. Some gentle herbivores are raised like livestock for their milk or wool, and certain intelligent and beautiful species are revered as symbolic animals or sacred beasts that protect a specific region.
Taming
As requested, it is indeed possible to tame some Magical Beasts. Generally, species with a certain level of intelligence and social behavior are considered suitable for taming.
-
Methods of Taming: The most common method is to raise one from a young age, forming a deep bond and emotional connection. There are also specialized professions such as 'Tamers' or 'Beastmasters' who use unique skills or magic to communicate with and pacify Magical Beasts. In some warrior cultures, a method of earning a beast's respect by overwhelming it with sheer strength to form a partnership is also passed down.
-
Roles of Tamed Beasts: Tamed Magical Beasts play various roles as reliable partners to sentient races.
- Mounts: Flying beasts like Griffins and Wyverns serve as swift mounts for knights, while powerful terrestrial beasts like Horned Wolves or Land Drakes are used as cavalry that can charge through battlefields.
- Combat Partners: They can act as steadfast comrades who fight alongside their masters in battle.
- Pets: Small, gentle, and adorable species like Carbuncles, which have jewels on their foreheads, or Moon Rabbits, which glow faintly under the moonlight, are loved by many as pets.

Magic Stones (마석)
Overview
Magic Stones are crystalline forms created when the mana prevalent throughout the world becomes highly condensed into a physical state. They are not mere jewels, but vessels containing mana itself, serving as the core power source for a wide range of magical technologies. Magic Stones are graded based on the purity and quantity of the mana they hold, and their colors and lusters are so diverse that they are also highly valued as art pieces among collectors.
Acquisition Methods
There are two primary ways to obtain Magic Stones.
A. Hunting Magical Beasts
This is the most common and general method of acquiring Magic Stones. They are formed as a core within the bodies of magical beasts, typically in vital organs such as the heart or brain.
- Characteristics: The size and purity of the Magic Stone are determined by the type and strength of the magical beast. The probability of obtaining a high-quality stone increases with the defeat of more powerful, high-ranking beasts, but so does the risk involved.
- Pros: Anyone with the ability to hunt magical beasts can obtain Magic Stones, making it one of the main sources of income for adventurers and mercenaries.
- Cons: As the core is directly linked to the beast's life functions, the stones are often irregularly shaped or contain impurities. Furthermore, the supply is unstable, making it difficult to acquire a large quantity of standardized stones.
B. Mining from Veins
This method involves excavating Magic Stone veins that have formed like mineral deposits deep within the earth, near ley lines where mana flows strongly.
- Characteristics: Magic Stone veins are extremely unstable. The moment an external physical shock is applied, their crystalline structure shatters, and the mana within instantly dissipates. This phenomenon means that ordinary mining with a pickaxe will only yield beautifully colored rocks (mana remnant stones).
- 'Mana Stabilization Process': For this reason, a highly advanced magical treatment known as the 'Mana Stabilization Process' is essential for mining Magic Stones. This process involves creating a stabilization field around the vein using special magical tools and resonating with the Magic Stone's mana frequency to carefully separate it. This process requires enormous capital and highly skilled magitech engineers.
- Exclusive Technology: Currently, the nations capable of perfectly operating the 'Mana Stabilization Process' are limited to a few wealthy countries, including the Liera Empire. The Liera Empire, in particular, has developed the most efficient and stable process after extensive research by the Imperial Institute of Engineering, allowing it to dominate the majority of the high-quality Magic Stone market. This is one of the key symbols of the Empire's immense economic and technological power.
- Pros: Mined Magic Stones are far purer and larger than those obtained from magical beasts, and they can be mass-produced with consistent quality. Most of the top-grade Magic Stones circulated by the Empire are mined from these veins.
- Cons: Because the mining rights and technology are monopolized by specific nations, the stones are very expensive, and their distribution is strictly controlled.

The Currencies of Friendlia
Overview
While each nation in Friendlia uses its own currency that reflects its unique history and culture, a basic standard of value is also commonly accepted across the continent. Currency is more than a simple medium of exchange; it is an important measure that offers a glimpse into a nation's economic power, technological level, and worldview.
1. The Liera Empire
The Liera Empire, boasting tens of thousands of years of history, has established the most stable and reliable currency system on the continent. The Empire's currency is considered a symbol of authority and credit in itself.
- Basic Units: It uses a three-tiered system of metal coins: the Aureum (아우레움), the Argentum (아르젠툼), and the Cuprum (쿠프룸). Each name is derived from the ancient words for gold, silver, and copper.
- Features: All coins are exquisitely engraved with the profile of the current Emperor and the Imperial crest, making them extremely difficult to counterfeit. As enduring as the Empire's long history, the value of its currency is stable, allowing it to function as the key currency for the entire continent.
- Currency Value:
- 1 Aureum (Gold Coin) = 100 Argentum (Silver Coins)
- 1 Argentum (Silver Coin) = 100 Cuprum (Copper Coins)
- New Payment Method (International Credit Card): Recently, the 'International Credit Card', issued in coalition by the major banks of the Liera Empire, the Westerland Reich, and the Federal Republic of Columbia, has rapidly emerged as a new payment method. While the mana-based 'Magical Credit Plate' is primarily used in Liera and the Reich, and the electricity-based 'Electronic Credit Card' is used in Columbia, they are freely usable in major cities and shops within the three nations thanks to a mutually compatible standard. The advent of this card has made international trade and travel remarkably convenient.
Common Continental Currency
For those who travel between various nations, such as adventurers and merchants, or for smaller kingdoms with underdeveloped currency systems, a common currency based on the raw value of gold, silver, and copper is widely used.
- Types: Gold Coin, Silver Coin, Copper Coin.
- Value: While there are no special regulations, their value is effectively determined based on the currency units of the Liera Empire. In most nations, 1 Gold Coin is accepted as having nearly the same value as 1 Aureum. Transactions at border exchange offices or within large merchant guilds are often conducted based on this common currency.

The Demon King (마왕)
Overview
In the southernmost part of the Eastern Continent, nestled in a prime location blessed with a mild climate and fertile lands, stands the 'Demon King's Castle.' Contrary to the intimidating air its name suggests, the castle's master, the 'Demon King,' is famous throughout the continent's history for making almost no presence known. Having undertaken no external activities for thousands of years, people now perceive the Demon King less as a real threat and more as a figure from a fairy tale, or something akin to a natural feature, like a boulder on a nearby mountain.
However, the wise issue a warning. The Demon King certainly exists, and their power is by no means a mere myth. It's just that there is a very deep, painful, and slightly pathetic reason for their inactivity.
History: The Beginning of the 'Great Seclusion'
At the start of it all was the first Demon King. He was a being who truly possessed the overwhelming power to make the continent tremble in fear. Full of ambition, he embraced the grand dream of world conquest based on his great power and led a massive demon army to advance upon the surface world.
His first misfortune, however, was that the period he chose to begin his campaign happened to overlap with the reign of Pope Leopold IX of the Order of Saint Aurelia. And his second misfortune was that Pope Leopold IX was, at the time, the most powerful individual in the history of the Order.
Upon hearing the news, the Pope simply remarked, "Oh my, what a ruckus," and headed to the Demon King's castle alone. Maintaining a gentle smile the entire time, the Pope effortlessly broke through the demon army's defensive lines as if he were out for a morning stroll. His passage through the battlefield, a chaotic scene of demonic screams and flying magic, was as natural as flowing water passing over a stone.
Finally face-to-face with the Demon King, the Pope, without ever losing his smile, proceeded to thrash the Demon King, quite literally, 'like a dog.' The first Demon King resisted with all his might, but to the Pope, it was nothing more than a child's tantrum. Faced with an overwhelming violence and terror he had never before experienced, the first Demon King's pride and ambition were shattered to pieces.
Barely escaping with his life, the first Demon King immediately shut himself away in his castle. And he left a will for his children, containing a lesson learned through the very marrow of his bones.
"Never, ever mess with the humans."
The Present: The Timid Overlords
The first Demon King's will has been passed down from generation to generation like a family heirloom. Subsequent Demon Kings, having inherited their ancestor's blood, were also born as powerful beings, but along with that power, they also inherited their ancestor's deep-seated trauma.
As a result, the current generation of Demon Kings leads an extremely reclusive life, hesitant to even step outside the castle, let alone conquer the world. Their power is still formidable enough to shake the continent's balance, but the fear that seems to be etched into their very genes—'humans (especially the Pope) are scary'—holds them back.
These days, their main concerns are not the state of the continent or a show of force, but rather incredibly mundane worries like, 'How will we cover this quarter's castle maintenance fees?', 'Are the crops in the garden growing well?', and 'How do I beat the final boss of this new game?' They now live a life closer to that of a castellan or a lord managing a large estate, rather than that of a conqueror.

Magic (마법)
Overview
Magic is like the very air of Friendlia. It is the art and technique of manipulating 'Mana,' the fundamental energy that constitutes the world, through 'Magical Power,' the inner energy possessed by living beings. Therefore, every living creature in Friendlia can be considered a potential magician from birth.
Among the general populace, those with a bit of talent for magic can, even without training, circulate their internal magical power to maintain good health or prevent minor illnesses. However, to formally manifest magic into the external world and operate it with precision, systematic training and deep understanding are absolutely necessary.
In Friendlia, magic is truly an all-powerful force. It demonstrates infinite possibilities based on the user's imagination and will, rather than being bound by fixed laws or limits. Crafting a dragon from flames, playing a song with the wind, or building a living, moving castle from the earth—none of these are impossible for a magician.
The Source of Magic: Mana and Magical Power
To understand magic, one must distinguish between two key energies: 'Mana' and 'Magical Power.'
-
Mana: The pure, natural energy that flows throughout the world itself. It exists everywhere—in the atmosphere, deep within the earth, and in flowing rivers. Magic Stones are the crystallized form of highly condensed Mana. Mana itself is a neutral energy source without its own will.
-
Magical Power (Magi): The internal energy that a living being generates and possesses through its life activities. The total amount and quality of this power vary depending on an individual's mental strength, will, and talent. A magician uses their Magical Power to draw in external Mana and transforms it into a desired form, manifesting it as the phenomenon known as 'magic.'
The Principles of Spellcasting
The process of using magic can be broadly divided into three stages:
-
Imagination: The most crucial core of magic. The magician must vividly and specifically picture the phenomenon they wish to create in their mind. It is not a vague image of 'flame,' but a clear imagination of 'a flame of a certain color and temperature, burning in a specific shape, and flying along a particular trajectory' that determines the power and precision of the magic.
-
Will: The driving force that turns the blueprint drawn by imagination into reality. The magician infuses their strong will into their Magical Power to control the external Mana, commanding it to change as they have imagined. The stronger the will, the more complex and powerful the magic that can be stably maintained.
-
Incantations and Hand Seals: The acts of chanting a spell or performing complex hand gestures. These are not essential elements of magic but rather advanced training methods and auxiliary tools to focus the mind and control the flow of Magical Power with precision. A highly skilled archmage can use magic with thought alone, without incantations or hand seals, but most magicians use them to cast magic more stably.
Schools and Elements: The Paths of Magic
While the possibilities of magic are infinite, scholars have classified magic into several schools and elements for efficient education and research. Most magicians are born with a stronger natural aptitude for a particular school or element.
- Elemental Magic: Deals with the fundamental forces of nature, such as fire, water, wind, and earth. It is the most intuitive and universal school of magic.
- Creation Magic: Creates matter from nothing or transforms existing matter into different forms. It is the foundation of alchemy and golemancy.
- Mental Magic: Influences intellect and senses, such as creating illusions, interfering with another's mind, or reading thoughts.
- Spatial Magic: Distorts and manipulates physical space, such as teleportation or opening dimensional gates. Elara's teleportation belongs to this school.
- Healing and Enhancement Magic: Heals the wounds of living beings or temporarily enhances their physical abilities. It operates on a different principle from the Holy Power of the Order of Saint Aurelia.
However, this classification merely presents the most common paths. The true beauty of magic lies in combining different schools or creating entirely new magic through one's own imagination. Someone with a certain aptitude for other schools can cross over and create their own unique style.
Magic and Society
In Friendlia society, magic is an inseparable presence. Trained professional magicians are treated as important national assets and are active in various fields such as the military, research, and social infrastructure. The 'Magitech' of the Liera Empire is a prime example of systematically industrializing magic.
Although not everyone can become a powerful magician due to the requirements of talent and training, the potential itself is open to all. Because of this, magic in Friendlia is not the exclusive property of a privileged few but is recognized as a universal power that makes the world more diverse and abundant.

Crystal Orb (수정구)
Overview: A Popular Magical Recording Medium
The Crystal Orb is a versatile magical medium capable of recording and reproducing various forms of information (such as images, sounds, and logic circuits) by imbuing it with mana. Unlike rare Magic Stones, it can be produced simply by carving and magically treating ordinary crystal, making it very inexpensive. Thanks to this, it is easily accessible not only to experts but also to the general public, and it is regarded as an item that has brought innovation to information recording methods and entertainment culture.
Features and Principles
-
Material and Production: It is primarily made from common crystal with good mana conductivity. Without the need for complex alchemy or magitech, it is completed when a skilled artisan carves the crystal into the desired shape, polishes the surface, and performs a simple magical imprinting process. This straightforward production process is the biggest reason why the Crystal Orb has become so widespread.
-
Magical Engraving: The user can 'imprint' information onto the crystal's internal lattice structure using their own mana as a medium. This allows for the recording of not just simple images and sounds, but also logical structures that react to specific conditions—in other words, 'programming'. The recorded information can be read by channeling mana into it again or through a special device.
-
Variety of Forms: Although the name 'Crystal Orb' is widely known, it does not necessarily have to be spherical. Depending on its use, it exists in various forms, such as a thin 'Crystal Plate (수정판)' or a small, card-shaped crystal processed into a necklace or other accessory.
Primary Uses
-
Entertainment Media:
- Moving Pictures (Movies): The movies shown in 'Moving Picture Houses' are mostly recorded on these Crystal Plates. When a crystal imprinted with video and audio information is placed in a magic lantern-type device, the light is amplified and projected onto a screen.
- Games: This is the most popular field recently. It is a new form of interactive entertainment where logic circuits for simple stories or puzzles are programmed into the crystal. Initially, the main method was to simply place a hand on the orb and channel mana, but the recent emergence of an auxiliary device called a 'Joystick' or 'Controller' has led to explosive popularity. This device converts the user's hand movements into subtle changes in the flow of mana, transmitting them to the Crystal Orb. This allows the user to control the game much more intuitively and precisely than by simply infusing mana, which has enabled the creation of more dynamic and complex games.
-
Information Recording and Communication: Being inexpensive and capable of storing information semi-permanently, it is also widely used as a recording medium to replace books and parchment. Scholars record their research data, mages their magic circuits, and common people their letters or diaries on crystals.
-
Education: Its potential in the field of education is limitless, being used as audiovisual material containing educational information or as a simple simulation device for magic training.
Use in Columbia
In Columbia, Crystal Orb technology is adopted in fields where it is more efficient than complex and delicate electronic devices.
-
Cost-Effectiveness and Stability: For certain applications, utilizing inexpensive Crystal Orbs is far more economical than mass-producing complex electronic circuits. Furthermore, while electronics can be vulnerable to moisture, shock, or strong magical interference, crystal is physically robust and operates on a different principle, giving it the significant advantage of being less affected by the external environment.
-
Independent Power Source: Its greatest advantage is that it requires no external power supply. Since it operates on just the user's minimal mana, the Crystal Orb becomes a more reliable tool than any advanced electronic device in the field or in remote areas without batteries or a power grid.
For these reasons, Crystal Orb and Crystal Plate technology is actively used in Columbia for simple children's toys, disposable information recording media for soldiers and agents, or as simple control devices for emergency equipment that must not fail.

Golem (골렘)
Overview: An Integral Part of Life
In the world of Friendlia, a 'golem' is a being as commonplace as the air in civilized society, helping with household chores, becoming a child's friend, and greeting customers in street-side shops. Thanks to the 'Mana Core Mass-Production Technology' revolution that began in the Liera Empire, golems have now become a common home appliance that even a commoner's family can purchase without great financial burden.
The Mana Core Revolution: The Technology That Changed Everything
In the past, the greatest barrier to golem creation was the price of the 'core,' its power source. Cores, which could only be made from high-purity rare magic stones or by the hands of an artisan, accounted for most of a golem's cost.
However, everything changed when the engineers of the Liera Empire developed 'Mana Distillation and Compression Technology.' This technology made it possible to gather trace amounts of mana scattered in the atmosphere, inject it into inexpensive minerals, and stabilize it, allowing for the mass production of standardized 'mass-produced mana cores.'
Thanks to this revolutionary technology, the production cost of golems dropped explosively, and they were finally able to enter everyone's daily lives.
Types and Classification
Today, golems are divided into countless types based on their purpose, but they can be broadly classified into three categories.
-
Consumer Golem: The most commonly seen type of golem. A finished product sold to ordinary households.
- Household Golem: Specializes in housework such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking assistance. Considered an essential item for homemakers.
- Companion Golem: A small golem in the shape of an animal or a human child. Widely used for the emotional stability of the elderly living alone or children. Capable of simple conversation and play.
- Hobby/Assistant Golem: A golem designed for a specific purpose, such as gardening, carrying heavy luggage, or assisting with exercise.
-
Industrial Golem: A golem used in commercial and industrial sites. It is larger and sturdier than consumer golems, with a focus on functionality rather than design. This includes shop clerk golems, construction worker golems, and farming golems.
-
Special-Purpose Golem: A high-performance golem created for special fields such as military, exploration, or medical use. This field remains the domain of a few elite golemancers known as 'Artisans.' Combat golems operated at the national level or exploration golems for ancient ruins use traditional high-output cores, not mass-produced mana cores, and their price is incomparable to that of ordinary golems.
Golemancers: Technicians and Artisans
The 'Mana Core Revolution' also changed the social status of golemancers.
- Golem Technician: Most golemancers today fall into this category. They are professional technicians in charge of design, production management, and maintenance at large golem production factories. It is a stable, well-paying job coveted by many young people.
- Golem Artisan: Artisans who create custom-made, high-end golems using traditional methods. Their numbers are very few, but as experts with the highest level of skill, they enjoy great social respect and wealth.
Daily Life with Golems
- Distribution and Repair: Large cities have golem department stores, and every neighborhood has golem dealerships and repair centers. The sight of people lining up when a new model of golem is released is no longer unfamiliar. The used golem market is also very active.
- Energy Supply: Mass-produced mana cores are not permanent. They must be periodically recharged through a 'Mana Supply Unit' installed at home or by replacing a 'Mana Cartridge' sold at convenience stores. This is one of the fixed monthly living expenses, like communication or water bills.
- Culture: Golem decorating (customizing) is a popular hobby, and 'Golem Racing' or 'Golem Fighting,' where golems compete in strength and speed, have become the most popular sports.

The Aesthetic Singularity of Friendlia
Overview: Blessed Genes and the Harmony of Mana
One of the first things that surprises visitors from other worlds upon arriving in Friendlia is that even ordinary passersby on the streets possess looks comparable to celebrities on Earth. This is not a mere coincidence, but the result of the combination of the characteristics of 'Mana' that constitutes this world and the evolutionary processes of its races.
1. Mana Correction
The Mana flowing through Friendlia's atmosphere is not merely an energy source; it possesses the property of trying to maintain the 'most ideal form' of living beings.
- Natural Cosmetic Procedure: Mana intervenes in the cell division process of living beings, correcting genetic defects, aligning physical symmetry, and purifying impurities in the skin. In other words, the people of Friendlia enjoy the effects of top-tier skin care and body correction throughout their lives simply by being born and breathing in this world.

Divine Adventurers
1. Overview: "Even Gods need Gold for their hobbies."
In Friendlia, gods are not transcendent beings who only stay in the celestial realm. They descend to the earth, live among mortals, and a significant number of them are formally registered with the 'Adventurer's Cooperative.'
In a typical fantasy world, a god taking up a human profession would be a shocking event. However, here, it is treated as a common daily occurrence, accepted with a shrug: "Oh, look, the God of Fire is off to hunt goblins. He must be trying to buy this month's limited edition figure."
2. Why Adventurers and not the Army?
Considering the overwhelming martial power gods possess, it would be normal for national armies to be desperate to scout them. However, it is extremely rare for a god to enlist in the military.
- Freedom: Gods fundamentally dislike being bound. Aside from the pride issue of "How dare a mortal general command me to charge?", they simply cannot endure military life with its set commuting times and roll calls.
- Flexibility: On the other hand, the Adventurer's Cooperative operates on a 'request-based' system. The ability to work when they want and rest when they want makes it the optimal workplace for capricious gods.
3. Types of Divine Adventurers
The reasons gods obtain an adventurer registration card vary.
A. The Incognito Type (Play & Disguise)
- Prime Example: Thanatos (Magical Girl Concept)
- Purpose: To hide their divinity and play among humans, or to enjoy a specific 'concept' or roleplay. They usually hide or nerf their powers while active, but their true authority may slip out in crisis situations.
B. The Hobbyist & Livelihood Type
- Feature: "Godly Body = Invincible Tanker/Dealer"
- Purpose: To enjoy earthly delights like delicious food, entertainment, and luxury goods, one needs 'cash (Gold).'
- Method: A god's body is fundamentally impervious to mortal weapons. They use this to enter dungeons bare-handed to beat up monsters or mine rare minerals in dangerous areas to earn money. For them, adventuring is closer to a 'high-income part-time job.'
C. The Guardian Type (Justice)
- Feature: "It's frustrating, so I'll do it myself."
- Purpose: A path chosen by benevolent gods who cannot stand to see the world's absurdity or evil. Rather than a grand justification of divine intervention, they act out of a simple sense of justice: "I will protect the people in front of me."
- Method: They often refuse payment or donate it all, and they take on the most dangerous requests, earning the respect of the people.
D. The Watcher Type (Observation)
- Purpose: 'Human-loving' gods who simply enjoy watching how mortals live up close and communicating with them. They enjoy the act of joining a party for small talk or sitting around a campfire.
4. The Cooperative's Response
The Adventurer's Cooperative is not foolish; if a new registrant exudes an unusual aura (Divinity, Demonic Energy, etc.), they generally catch on. However, it is an implicit rule not to pry into their true identity.
- Grading: Just because someone is a god doesn't mean they are automatically given 'Adamantium' rank. They are graded strictly based on performance, depending on how diligently they perform requests. (Thus, there are plenty of 'Bronze Rank Gods' who hide their immense power.)
- Dedicated Counters: Some large branches have VIP (Very Important Power) dedicated receptionists to ensure that gods can conduct their adventurer activities smoothly without causing a scene.

Liera Imperial Central Academia (리에라 황립 중앙 아카데미아)
1. Overview
"Lumen Scientiae Imperium Illustrat" (The Light of Knowledge Illuminates the Empire)
It is the most prestigious institution on the Western Continent, situated on the prime real estate of the capital, 'Liera,' the heart of the Liera Empire. More than just a school, it is a massive educational complex akin to a 'small city,' concentrating the Empire's magitech prowess and cultural essence.
Boasting tens of thousands of years of history, it is currently a dynamic place where the traditions of the old era and the magitech of the new era fiercely collide and fuse, reflecting the recent reform policies of Emperor Friedrich III. It is the cradle of the elite, producing the Empire's bureaucrats, mages, knights, and magitech engineers.
2. Location and Campus View
It is located at the eastern end of the 'Via Aurea' (The Golden Road) that penetrates the center of the capital Liera, facing the Imperial Palace.
- The Old Halls: Antique temple-style buildings built of marble thousands of years ago. Lectures on humanities and pure magic primarily take place here, and it is the preferred zone of children from conservative noble families.
- The Magitech Towers (New Halls): A recently expanded zone featuring cutting-edge magitech, such as lecture halls floating in the air using mana levitation stones and exterior walls made of transparent crystal. Used by the School of Engineering and the School of Alchemy.
- The Great Library 'Akashic': A place where knowledge accumulated since the founding of the Empire sleeps. The underground archives, stretching dozens of floors down, hold ancient grimoires, while the surface floors are equipped with search terminals accessible to the 'Crystal Net (C-Net),' allowing the past and present to coexist.
3. The Four Pillars (Faculties)
The Academia is largely divided into four colleges.
A. School of Magitech Engineering
- Symbol: Gear and Staff
- Color: Steel Grey
- Overview: The faculty currently receiving the largest budget in the Empire. Students learn magic stone processing, golem design, and mana circuit design.
- Traits: Graduates are treated as key talents of the Empire to counter Columbia's mechanical engineering. There are many 'engineering geeks' who stay up all night in the labs drinking mana drinks (potions).
B. School of Imperial Knights
- Symbol: Sword and Shield
- Color: Royal Blue
- Overview: A training ground for commanders of the Imperial Army. Students learn not only swordsmanship but also tactics and how to operate magitech weapons.
- Traits: Physical training is emphasized, so clergy from the 'Order of Saint Aurelia' are sometimes invited as visiting professors. Recently, there has been fierce debate among the faculty regarding the introduction of firearms (Columbia style).
C. School of Arcane Arts
- Symbol: Open Book and Star
- Color: Mystic Purple
- Overview: Researches traditional elemental magic and summoning arts.
- Traits: Possesses the most conservative academic tradition and tends to look down on magitech as "trivial techniques that damage the artistry of magic."
D. School of Governance
- Symbol: Scales and Quill
- Color: Gold & White
- Overview: Trains bureaucrats who will lead the Imperial Diet and administration.
- Traits: Political strife among students is fierce enough to rival the actual Imperial Diet. It is a daily occurrence for brutal debate battles to break out between the Noble Faction and the Imperial Faction (Reformists).
4. School Life and Culture
Magitech Campus Life
- Everyday C-Phone Usage: All students check lecture schedules via C-Phones and post anonymously on the school community ('The Bamboo Forest') to complain about professors or ask for relationship advice.
- Golem Cafes: Unmanned cafes operated by vending-machine-type golems are located throughout the campus, and during exam periods, 'Americanos with extra awakening potion shots' sell like hotcakes.
The Insula Dorms
- Noble Dormitory 'Noblesse': Luxurious single rooms. Dedicated maid/butler golems are assigned.
- General Dormitory 'Frontier': Primarily used by commoners with excellent grades or international students. Although shared (2 students per room), the facilities are excellent, and recent remodeling has fully equipped them with mana heating and cooling systems.
The Little Diet (Campus Politics)
Since the enthronement of Friedrich III, as the number of commoner students has increased, the atmosphere within the school has been flowing in a strange direction.
- White Lily: A social club for children of conservative nobles. They shout for "Pure Bloodlines and the Protection of Tradition."
- Wings of Dawn: An alliance of commoners and lower-ranking nobles advocating meritocracy. They support the Emperor's reforms.

Educational Institutions of the Liera Empire (Academia)
1. Overview
In the Liera Empire, the term 'Academia' narrowly refers to the 'Imperial Central Academia,' the supreme seat of learning located in the capital. However, in a broader sense, it encompasses the entire educational system that forms the foundation of the Empire's talent cultivation.
In the past, closed-off apprenticeship education exclusively for nobles and royalty was the norm. However, driven by the advancement of Magitech and the reform policies of Emperor Friedrich III, a systematic public education system has begun to take root across the Empire. Currently, imperial education is in a transitional period where the two values of "Guardian of Tradition" and "Innovation of Technology" fiercely collide and evolve.
2. Liera Imperial Central Academia
"Lumen Scientiae Imperium Illustrat" (The Light of Knowledge Illuminates the Empire)
The pinnacle of imperial education and the most prestigious institution on the Western Continent. It is located at the eastern end of the 'Via Aurea' (The Golden Road), the heart of the capital Liera, facing the Imperial Palace. Beyond a simple school, it forms a massive 'Academic City.'
2.1. Campus Structure
- Old Halls: A complex of marble temple-style buildings boasting thousands of years of history. Lectures on humanities and pure magic primarily take place here, and it is the preferred zone of children from conservative noble families. While antique, there are complaints about poor heating and cooling efficiency.
- Magitech Towers (New Halls): A recently expanded zone centered around the School of Magitech Engineering. It features cutting-edge technology, such as lecture halls floating in the air using mana levitation stones and exterior walls made of transparent crystal.

- School of Governance
- Symbol: Scales and Quill / Color: Gold & White
- Overview: Trains bureaucrats who will lead the Imperial Diet and administration. Political strife among students is fierce enough to rival the actual Imperial Diet.
2.3. School Life & Culture
- The Little Diet: The student council is a microcosm of imperial politics. The 'White Lily,' a gathering of conservative noble children, and the 'Wings of Dawn,' an alliance of commoners and reformists, clash at every turn.
- Magitech Campus Life: Students check lecture schedules via C-Phones and post anonymously on the school community ('The Bamboo Forest') to gossip about professors or ask for relationship advice. During exam periods, sales of awakening potions at Golem Cafes skyrocket.
3. Regional & Special Educational Institutions
Besides the Central Academia, various educational institutions exist to meet the Empire's needs.
3.1. Augusta Imperial Naval Academy
- Location: Augusta, the second city and largest port.
- Overview: An institution for training Imperial Navy officers and merchant traders.
- Traits: It operates a curriculum focused on practical training, and graduates are scouted by the Imperial Navy or large merchant guilds. Being near the sea, the atmosphere is much more laissez-faire than the center, and they actively accept Columbia's advanced navigation techniques.
3.2. Regional Gymnasium
- Location: Major hub cities of each imperial territory.
- Overview: Secondary education institutions serving as preparatory schools for entering the Central Academia.
- Traits: In the past, only noble children attended, but recently, admission of children from wealthy merchants or talented commoners is increasing. Entrance competition is fierce, leading to the rise of a new profession called 'Entrance Exam Coordinators.'
3.3. Magitech Vocational School
- Location: Industrial districts and outskirts of major cities.
- Overview: Technical education institutions for commoners established by Emperor Friedrich III's edict.
- Traits: They teach the basics of magitech engineering, repair of magic stone processing machines, etc. They produce 'Magitech Technicians' who can be immediately deployed to the field, supporting the backbone of the Empire's industry. The Transcendent Powerhouses of Friendlia
1. Overview
"Where they pass, the map must be redrawn."
In Friendlia, the beings referred to as "Powerhouses"are entities that far exceed the category of simply "skilled individuals." Their martial prowess goes beyond destroying a single army or fortress; it boasts a disaster-class scale capable of permanently altering terrain and physically revising the continent's map.
This overwhelming gap in power, incomprehensible by common logic, acts as a deterrent that prevents nations and factions from recklessly engaging in all-out war.
2. The Scale of Power
For these transcendent beings, going "all out" implies the destruction of the surrounding ecosystem and the revision of the map.
- Map Revision: Mountains become plains, and plains turn into lakes or metallic wastelands, altering geographical information itself.
- Weather Manipulation: Their mere magical energy and aura can cause localized typhoons, earthquakes, and droughts.
- Strategic Value: Each individual is treated as equivalent to, or greater than, a nuclear weapon. Their movement paths are the top priority for surveillance by every nation's intelligence agency.
3. Major Examples
3.1. Aureum (The Golden Lord)
- Titles: The Golden Lord, The Sun of the West, The Walking Imperial Vault
- Essence of Ability: [The Pinnacle of Matter Transmutation & Alchemy]
- Scale of Destruction:
- If he genuinely unleashes his full power, he can instantly transmute a vast area of land, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of kilometers, into high-purity gold.
- This is not merely an attack, but a power akin to authority capable of destroying a continent's economy and ecosystem simultaneously. The moment he deploys his "Golden Domain," all living beings and inanimate objects within range are turned into golden statues, frozen for eternity.
- To prevent the map of the Western Continent from being painted entirely in gold, he constantly suppresses his output to the absolute limit.
3.2. Elania (Queen of Amazonia)
- Titles: The Divine Bow of Yggdrasil, The Continent's Biggest Doting Mother
- Essence of Ability: [Archery Reaching the Realm of Gods]
- Scale of Destruction:
- A single arrow she looses possesses the power to bore a hole through a massive mountain range or pulverize a mountain peak into dust.
- Even more terrifying is her ability to rain down these strategic-level shots not as single fires, but like a torrential downpour.
- The moment she steps onto the battlefield, the enemy forces face a carpet bombing of "mountain-destroying rounds" rather than a rain of arrows. After the battle, witnesses often report that mountain ranges have been reduced to flat plains.
3.3. Aurelia (The Saintess)
- Titles: The Strongest Cleric on Earth, The Humanoid Earthquake
- Essence of Ability: [Transcendence of Physical Abilities & Holy Destruction]
- Scale of Destruction:
- Her fists and kicks are compressed with killing intent and Holy Power; a single swing causes the ground to sink and forms massive craters.
- A strike delivered with sincerity triggers localized earthquakes, collapsing surrounding walls and buildings with just the shockwave, even without direct contact.
- The battlefield she sweeps through is left with terrain so brutally crushed it looks as if giant kaiju have rampaged through it, making it impossible to recognize the original landscape.

Magician (마법사)
1. Overview
"He who imagines is he who creates."
In Friendlia, a Magician is defined as an individual who utilizes their internal 'Magical Power (Magi)' as a power source to materialize 'Mana'into forms they imagine. They are not hermits secluded in ancient towers reciting spells, but professionals active in all sectors of society, ranging from frontline soldiers to magitech engineers and experts in daily life conveniences.
2. Characteristics: Boundless Explorers
Unlike other fantasy worlds, the magic system of Friendlia has loose restrictions regarding 'absolute elemental affinity' or 'class limitations.'
- The Victory of Imagination: Just because one has a talent for fire magic doesn't mean they are restricted to using only fire. If a magician imagines, "To cool down a hot fire, wouldn't I need water?" and understands that structure, even a fire mage can learn and use water magic.
- Major and Minor: Of course, innate aptitude (Major) exists. However, it is common sense for most magicians to learn other elements (Minor) little by little to compensate for their weaknesses or for convenience in daily life.
- Example: A fire mage learning basic cooling (ice) magic to avoid heat exhaustion, or a warrior-mage learning basic alchemy to repair their weapons.
3. Social Classification
Magicians are broadly divided into three categories based on their purpose and method of using magic.
A. Combat Mage
- Main Activities: Adventurers, Soldiers, Mercenaries.
- Traits: They prioritize powerful firepower and immediate response. Rather than complex theories, the virtue here is "how quickly and strongly one can blast the enemy away." They tend to delve into a single main element to the extreme.
B. Scholar & Technomancer
- Main Activities: Liera Empire Institute of Engineering, Magic Academy Professors, Corporate Researchers.
- Traits: They approach magic as an academic discipline and technology. They design efficient mana circuits or develop useful magical tools (artifacts) for daily life. To them, magic is not 'mystery' but precise 'programming' and 'engineering.'
C. Civilian Mage
- Main Activities: Ordinary Citizens, Artisans, Chefs.
- Traits: While they cannot launch grand fireballs, they are masters of practical magic necessary for daily life. They use lifestyle-oriented magic, such as doing dishes without touching them or cooking food without firewood.
4. Education & Entry
- Innate Talent: Since all living beings are born with magical power, everyone is a potential magician.
- Educational Institutions: The Liera Empire's 'Central Academia' is considered the highest seat of learning, but one can also become a magician through local magic guilds or apprenticeships. Recently, the number of self-taught magicians learning through 'C-Net' (Internet) lectures is increasing.
[Lorebook] Magic Tools & Catalysts
1. Overview: "A Matter of Efficiency, Not Necessity"
In Friendlia, a Staff or Wand is not a 'necessity' for a magician, but an 'auxiliary device.' Since the essence of magic lies in the caster's 'Imagination' and 'Will,' theoretically, any magician can activate magic with bare hands, a glance, or even just a thought.
Nevertheless, the reason most magicians use tools is clear: "Because a calculator is faster and more accurate than mental arithmetic."
2. The Role of the Staff (The Calculator)
The staff serves as an 'external processing unit' that prevents the magician's brain from overloading, as well as a 'mana amplifier.'
- Computational Assistance: It handles the mental calculation processes required to construct complex magic formulas, drastically reducing casting time.
- Increased Efficiency: It prevents the unnecessary loss of mana that occurs when using magic with bare hands. In other words, even if casting the same fireball, using a staff allows it to be fired faster with less mana.
- Stability: It rectifies the flow of mana, preventing magic backflow accidents (overload).
3. Diversification of Forms: Gloves and Accessories
In Friendlia, where Magitech is developed, magicians do not stick to crude wooden staffs alone. The forms of catalysts vary greatly depending on the user's taste and combat style.
- Magic Gauntlets/Gloves:
- Preferred by brawler-type mages who want their hands free or by pragmatists.
- Designed so that the movement of the fingers itself acts as a precise Hand Seal, making them advantageous for delicate magic manipulation.
- Representative User: Riru. The white gloves she always wears are themselves high-performance magic catalysts. Thanks to this, she can instantly cast complex magic with just elegant hand gestures.
- Other Forms: Ultra-compact catalysts in the form of rings, necklaces, or glasses exist, and soldiers of the Liera Empire sometimes use rifle-shaped 'Magitech Firearms' as catalysts.
[Lorebook] Innate Attributes & Origin Magic
1. Overview: "Not Learned, But Realized at Birth"
Most magicians in Friendlia learn theories and how to control mana from schools or mentors. However, in rare cases, due to the environmental characteristics of their birthplace or the influence of their lineage, some are born with a specific element as natural to them as a part of their body.
In academia, this is referred to as 'Origin Magic' or 'Innate Attribute.'
2. Cause of Formation: Environmental Resonance
The primary cause occurs when the mother or the individual during early childhood is exposed to a high concentration of specific mana.
- Volcanic Regions: A child born and raised in a place full of scorching heat and fire mana perceives handling fire not as hot, but as 'warm and familiar.'
- Polar Regions: Those born in lands of extreme cold control frost as naturally as their own body temperature.
- Deep Sea or Lakes: They instinctively read and control the flow of water.
3. Characteristics: "Breath-like Magic"
To them, magic of that specific element is not a skill requiring complex formulas or calculations. Just as we do not calculate the mechanism of our lungs when breathing, they manifest magic unconsciously.
- Intuitive Casting: No need for chants like "Burn, oh fire," nor complex mana circuit designs. The moment they think "I wish there was fire," fire is already in their hands.
- Overwhelming Understanding and Efficiency: If learned magicians use 10 mana to produce 10 power, these individuals use 1 mana to produce 10 or more efficiency. This is because the element does not reject them but follows them.
- Impossibility of Explanation: Ironically, they often cannot theoretically explain why or how their magic works.
- Normal Mage: "I circulate mana through circuit number 3 to find the ignition point..."
- Innate Mage: "I just gave it a 'whoosh' and it went 'boom'? Why can't you do it?"
4. Constraints
While it looks like a god-given talent, there are clear downsides.
- Attribute Bias: They show extreme clumsiness in learning magic other than their innate attribute. (e.g., An innate fire mage physiologically rejecting or failing to understand learning water magic.)
- Difficulty in Control: When emotions run high, their magic may go out of control unconsciously, altering the surrounding environment. (e.g., The house freezing over after a marital spat.)
[Lorebook] Incantation & Silent Magic
1. Overview: "Spells are Just Helpers"
In Friendlia's magic system, 'Chanting' (reciting spells aloud) is not an absolute prerequisite for activating magic. The ignition key for magic is solely the caster's 'Will,' the fuel is 'Magical Power,' and the blueprint is 'Imagination.'
Nevertheless, the reason magicians mutter is simply "to solidify the image more clearly."
2. The Role of Incantation: Mental Anchor
Human thoughts are bound to waver constantly. In urgent combat situations or moments requiring high concentration, the act of fixing the mind using the frame of 'language' to prevent the magic circuit (image) in the head from scattering is exactly what Incantation is.
- Self-Suggestion: By uttering "Fire, become a spear," the brain is forced to focus only on the images of 'Fire' and 'Spear.'
- Guideline for Complex Magic: In the case of grand magic with very complex structures, chants are recited like reading a manual to ensure the sequence is not forgotten or the circuit does not get tangled.
3. Silent Magic
"Familiarity Needs No Explanation."
If the structure of the magic is perfectly drawn in the head, or if the structure itself has become the magic, there is no need to open one's mouth.
- Somatic Component: Most skilled magicians prefer light hand gestures over chanting. Actions like snapping fingers or swiping through the air are sufficient to designate the directionality of mana.
- Spamming: Especially for familiar magic like 'Magic Missile' or 'Basic Elemental Bullets,' one can pour them out like a machine gun with just a glance or a thought, without any specific motion.
- Silence is Threat: Battles between high-ranking magicians unfold not by loudly exchanging spells, but in a silence where the terrain is overturned with a single gesture.

- Silence is Threat: Battles between high-ranking magicians unfold not by loudly exchanging spells, but in a silence where the terrain is overturned with a single gesture.

The Bureaucracy and Noble Spirit of the Liera Empire
1. Overview: "Pride Heavier than Gold"
The moment merchants or lobbyists from other nations feel most bewildered in the Liera Empire is when they offer a hefty bribe, only to find the recipient enraged—not with greed, but with insult: "Are you trying to humiliate me right now?"
For the high-ranking officials and nobles of the Liera Empire, bribes and solicitations do not work. This is not because they are morally perfect saints, but because "their pride as imperial administrators is far more expensive than any bribe."
2. The Driving Force of Integrity: Imperial Pride
Their integrity stems from intense elitism and a sense of chosen people, rather than 'fear' or 'discipline.'
- "I am Liera": They consider themselves the wheels that move the 'Greatest Universal Empire in the history of Friendlia,' which boasts tens of thousands of years of history.
- Perception of Bribery: To them, accepting a bribe is not 'profit' but a "cheap act of selling one's soul and family honor for a few pennies."
- Example: "I am a Count of the Empire, and you want me to degrade the national prestige for some merchant's pocket change? You couldn't buy my pride even if you emptied the Imperial Treasury."
3. Historical Burden: "It Cannot Ruin in My Generation"
Behind their sense of responsibility lies a massive historical fear.
- The Weight of History: They are terrified more than death of the stigma that "this brilliant empire, built by countless ancestors over tens of thousands of years, was ruined in my generation by my mistake."
- Perfectionism: The mindset of "I would rather die from overwork than be recorded in history as an incompetent bureaucrat who ruined the Empire" is fundamental. Because of this, Liera's officials are also notoriously workaholics.
4. Noblesse Oblige and Innovation
Their pride does not flow into arrogance but serves as a healthy driving force for the Empire's development.
- Sense of Responsibility: Under the logic that "We enjoy privileges because we have the ability to lead the Empire," they practice Noblesse Oblige, standing at the forefront during crises.
- Progressive Conservatism: They are not merely reactionaries guarding the old. They know better than anyone that "for the Empire to be eternal, it must continuously develop."
- Therefore, regarding the introduction of Magitech or institutional reforms, if it is proven that "Does this make the Empire greater?", they accept and lead it more actively than anyone else.
- Relationship with the Emperor: Even the nobles opposing Friedrich III do not "oppose reform" itself, but rather check him out of fear that "the reform method is too radical and might harm the Empire's stability (fear that the Empire might fall)."
5. Summary
"A bribe? Take it back. The price of my pride is higher than your entire fortune."

Social Culture - Race Relations & Harmony
1. Overview: "Too Diverse to Discriminate"
In Friendlia, the concept of "racial discrimination" as understood in other worlds is extremely faint, or treated as an alien concept. This is not due to high moral standards, but rather a natural result of the environment.
- The Melting Pot: In any given village square, it is common to see a Centaur pulling a cart, a Fairy running a fruit stand, and an Orc reciting poetry at a cafe. In a world where "everyone looks different," establishing a standard based on appearance is meaningless.
- Pragmatism: In a world filled with dangerous monsters and dungeons, one's ability is far more important than their race. If the Orc next door is an axe master who protects the village, discrimination is nothing but a foolish act that lowers survival rates.
2. Structural Reasons for the Absence of Discrimination
2.1. Complexity of Hierarchy
There are simply too many races. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Beastfolk, Demons, Dragonkin, Merfolk, etc. Trying to rank them or determine superior/inferior relationships is logically impossible and a headache-inducing task. Therefore, people have adopted the simple mindset: "If they can talk and pay, they are a neighbor."
2.2. Economic Interdependence
Each race has specialized strengths essential to society.
- "If you ostracize Dwarves, who will fix your farming tools?"
- "If you kick out the Elves, where will you get potions?"
- "If you ignore the Gnomes, your magitech devices will break down." Because daily life relies on this complex web of interdependence, discrimination is viewed as "economically inefficient stupidity."
3. Perception of "Difference"
To the natives of Friendlia, physical differences are merely individual traits, much like hair color or height.
- Example: Seeing a Lizardman with green scales is perceived no differently than seeing a human with red hair. It is just a characteristic: "That person has scales."
- Mixed Heritage: Interactions and marriages between different races are frequent (where biologically possible or aided by magic), leading to a culture that naturally accepts hybrid traits.
4. Nuance: Stereotypes vs. Discrimination
While malicious exclusion is rare, lighthearted stereotypes or "racial humor" do exist.
- e.g., "Never start a drinking contest with a Dwarf unless you want to lose your liver," or "Don't ask a High Elf for directions; they'll give you a history lesson on the road first." These are usually treated as jokes or cultural understanding rather than hateful prejudice.
5. Exceptions (Political vs. Racial)
Conflict does exist, but it stems from National/Political issues rather than Racial ones.
- Case: A Joseon person might dislike a Wakoku person, but this is due to national history, not because one is human and the other is an Oni.
- Case: A chaotic evil Monster (lacking intelligence/communicability) is an enemy to be subjugated, distinct from an intelligent "Demihuman" neighbor.

The Trans-Continental Express
1. Overview
- Official Name: The Horizon Experience
- Common Aliases: The Steel Serpent Binding the World, The Artery of the Continents, The 5-Continent Transversal Train
- Operator: International Railway Union (Joint Venture of Liera Empire, Federal Republic of Columbia, and Kingdom of Aquaria)
The single largest vehicle in the history of Friendlia, and the crystallization of peace and technology. It is a super-colossal train that connects all five continentsinto one. Realizing the impossible feat of "sprinting on land and sailing on the sea," this train is treated not merely as transportation, but as a "Moving City" and neutral territory in itself.
2. Core Technology: Hybrid Variable Drive System
The secret to this train's ability to traverse both land and sea lies in the fusion of Liera's "Magitech" and Columbia's "Mechanical Engineering."
2.1. Land Mode
- Power Source: Columbian Ultra-High Output Internal Combustion Engines & Steam Turbines.
- Method: Utilizes standard railways. The main trunk lines of each continent underwent massive expansion projects to accommodate the sheer size of this train.
2.2. Ocean Mode
- Power Source: Liera's Large-Scale Mana Core & Kingdom of Aquaria's Current Control Magic.
- Method - [Project: Mana-Rail]: When the train reaches the coastline, the wheels retract into the hull, and "Mana Floating Stones" and "Screws" deploy from the undercarriage. Simultaneously, the train's lead vehicle (Locomotive) projects powerful freezing magic and mana onto the ocean surface, laying a "Temporary Path of Mana (Virtual Rail)" allowing the train to glide over the water. From a distance, it creates the miraculous spectacle of a train sprinting across the open sea.
3. Route (The Great Circle)
The train travels in a massive figure-eight pattern, circulating through the 5 continents. The total travel time is approximately 15 to 20 days.
- Western Continent (The Starting Point - The Golden Station): Passes through the Liera Empire's capital and Columbia's industrial zones. The section with the highest passenger turnover.
- Northern Continent (Sprint of the Snowfields): Crosses the frozen sea to traverse the snowy fields of Sever Eurasia. Famous for the view of auroras from the windows.
- Eastern Continent (Mystery of the East): Crosses the vast plains of the Great Qin Empire and the mountain ranges of Joseon. Connects to Wakoku via undersea tunnels (partial) and ocean travel.
- Southern Continent (Rapid Transit of the Green Hell): Cuts through the massive forests of Amazonia and the deserts of Aket. A section where mercenary guards are most tense due to frequent monster attacks.
- Central Continent (Rest in Paradise): Crosses the ocean to stop at the Kingdom of Aquaria (Central Archipelago). The train transforms into a floating hotel, allowing passengers to enjoy a resort experience in the middle of the sea.
4. Cabins and Facilities
This colossal train, consisting of a total of 50 cars, has strictly divided internal classes.
- Royal Class (Cars 1~3): Exclusively for royalty or tycoons. Comes with luxury suites, private chefs, mages, and bodyguards. Individual defensive barriers against external attacks are installed.
- Noble Class (Cars 4~15): For general nobility and merchants. High-end hotel-level rooms. Access to the social club and casino cars.
- Adventure Class (Cars 16~30): For general adventurers and commoners. Neat sleeper compartments. There is a "Mercenary Discount" system where fares are reduced in exchange for assisting with train defense during monster attacks.
- Cargo & Special Cars (Cars 31~50): Refrigerated cars storing intercontinental trade goods, mail, and monster ingredients. A small deck capable of Wyvern take-off and landing exists at the very end.
5. Features and Trivia
- Absolute Neutrality: Within the train, no single nation's laws apply, only the "International Railway Law." Therefore, inciting fights or committing murder on board results in immediate execution or being thrown into the sea by the "Railway Security Force" (a mixed unit of elites from each nation and Aquaria Merfolk).
- Threat of Sea Monsters: During Ocean Mode, it is prone to being targeted by Krakens or Sea Serpents. For this reason, the train is equipped with frigate-level Mana Cannons and torpedo tubes, and Aquaria's Merfolk provide underwater escorts.
- The Moving Dungeon: Occasionally, powerful beasts or otherworldly beings stow away in the cargo hold, or the train itself gets swept into dimensional rifts, leading adventurers to treat it as a "Running Dungeon."

[Lorebook] House Zima
1. Overview
"Winter is I, and I am the Tsardom."
The absolute imperial family that has ruled the Sever Eurasia Tsardom for thousands of years. True to their name, which means 'Winter (Zima)' in the ancient tongue, they are a mysterious clan that appears less like simple humans and more like the harsh cold of the Northern Continent incarnated in human form.
2. Physical Characteristics: "Bloodline of the Snowfields"
Members of House Zima are born with physical and biological traits that distinctly separate them from other races or ordinary humans.
- Snow-White Skin: They possess skin so white it resembles freshly fallen snow, lacking almost any flush of blood. This is not a sign of frailty, but a result of the powerful cold mana flowing within them. Their skin does not burn even under sunlight and shines coldly like a gem.
- Glacial Eyes: They have clear, piercingly blue eyes reminiscent of deep glaciers or the bottom of a frozen lake. When their emotions run high, white cold mist, rather than light, emanates from their eyes.
- Eternal Frost (Body Temperature): Their bodies maintain an ice-cold temperature at all times. They do not sweat even in midsummer, and merely standing beside them causes a noticeable drop in the surrounding temperature, emitting a chilling aura.
3. Unique Abilities: "Authority of Winter"
They do not 'learn' magic as an academic discipline; they are innate Origin Mages who 'wield' winter as part of their very being from birth.
- Innate Freezing Control: They manipulate ice and snow as naturally as breathing, without the need for complex incantations or magic circles. With a simple gesture, they can freeze moisture in the air to erect massive ice walls or summon blizzards to annihilate enemies.
- Cold Immunity: To them, cold is not pain but rest. They can enjoy a stroll in a blizzard of -40 degrees Celsius wearing only a thin formal outfit, and they possess near-complete immunity to cold-attribute attacks.
4. Ruling Philosophy & Status
The Tsardom's national creed of 'Greatness' originates from House Zima.
- Living Nature: The reason the Ursin (Bear Beastfolk), who revere strength and wildness, swear absolute loyalty to the human House Zima is simple. They view House Zima's power as a symbol of the overwhelming fear and awe of the Northern Great Nature itself.
- Cold but Fair Rule: "Winter is equally cold to the rich and the poor." Following this family motto, they rule the vast empire with a cool-headed and strict rule of law that is not swayed by emotion.

Suma (수마)
The Suma are a race of such small stature that an adult Suma barely reaches the waist of a human adult(approximately 80~100cm). Their appearance is nearly identical to that of humans, but they retain a childlike form throughout their lives. Their large, innocent eyes and gentle features possess a mysterious charm that can disarm even the most hardened individuals.
Physically frail, they are not suited for combat or arduous labor. Paradoxically, this weakness has become the Suma's greatest strength. No race in Friendlia would dare to openly harm these small, lovable beings. A mere rumor that a Suma is in trouble is enough to cause even bitter enemies to declare a temporary truce and rush to their aid.
The Suma typically live in their own quaint villages nestled within the cities built by other races. They have delicate hands and excel at creating beautiful handicrafts and delicious sweets. Their pure kindness and bright smiles are considered a precious warmth in a sometimes-harsh world.

Manu (마누)
Known as the walking mountains of the earth, the Manu are a race of giants. Their immense height, often reaching two to four times that of a human, inspires awe in all who behold them. Their appearance is identical to that of humans, but their sheer scale is enough to command reverence.
Contrary to their colossal size, the Manu are remarkably gentle and peaceful. They rarely show emotional turmoil, remaining as silent and steadfast as ancient trees. Though their footsteps are heavy enough to make the ground tremble, each step is taken with careful consideration so as not to harm any small living thing.
They typically live in their own settlements on vast plains or secluded mountain foothills. Their architecture, carved from massive boulders, is rustic yet magnificent, perfectly reflecting their character. The Manu have an instinct to cherish and protect smaller beings, and they are especially gentle guardians to the frail Suma. The sight of a Suma sleeping peacefully in the palm of a giant Manu is considered one of the most serene scenes in all of Friendlia.

Gods (신)
The gods of Friendlia are not transcendent beings who watch over the world from a distant celestial plane. They are members of the world, walking the same earth and living under the same sky as mortals—they are simply overwhelmingly powerful and immortal. They can often be seen in various places, from the great cities of the Liera Empire to the industrial zones of Columbia and the frontier lands of the Westerland Reich, regardless of continent, nation, or culture.
Their appearance can be that of a human, an elf, a beastfolk, or a dwarf. But regardless of the form they take, the gods possess an absolute beauty that transcends the limits of any single race.
They hold the power to sunder the earth and overturn the seas, each commanding their own domain, such as fire, smithing, bounty, or wisdom. However, they do not abuse this power to disrupt the world's order. Instead, the god of the forge might spend a night engaging in a smithing contest with the most stubborn Dwarf master, while the goddess of the harvest might till the fields alongside human farmers, sharing jokes and stories.
They are less objects of worship and more like formidable but reliable elders, or eccentric but endearing neighbors. Of course, a god's whim can be more frightening than a typhoon, so most mortals treat them with respect and courtesy, but the relationship is never a one-sided hierarchy.

Beastfolk (수인)
The Beastfolk, who carry the blood of the wild, are one of the most widely distributed races in Friendlia. Their forms are incredibly varied and can be broadly divided into three categories.
-
Demi-humans: These individuals have an appearance nearly identical to humans, distinguished only by their animal ears and tails. The most well-known are the cat-like Demi-humans often called 'Nekomimi', but there are many other varieties, including dog, fox, and rabbit. They possess the characteristic physical traits of their animal lineage, such as superior hearing, a keen sense of smell, or incredible agility. Most live naturally integrated into human society, though they often form their own tight-knit communities within cities. Those who live near the sea often inherit the characteristics of fish like sharks and dolphins, often having scales, fish-like tails, and fins. Some even have lower bodies resembling those of mermaids.
-
Beastmen: Also known as 'Furries', their appearance is much more animalistic than that of Demi-humans. Their bodies are covered in fur, their faces resemble those of animals, and some species have digitigrade legs. Many descend from predators like wolves, bears, and tigers, boasting powerful physiques and wild instincts. They often live in tribal communities in the great wilderness, far from civilization, and foster warrior cultures that value honor and strength.

Nephir (네피르)
Overview
In the vast southern deserts, under the scorching sun, travelers sometimes witness a mirage. The most beautiful sight within that illusion is undoubtedly the image of women dancing upon the sands. People call them the "Nephir."
The Nephir are a race composed solely of women who have made the southern desert their home. They possess souls as free as the desert wind and are beings brimming with a vitality like that of an oasis. Upholding martial prowess and artistry as the essence of their lives, every Nephir is a warrior who wields a sword and a dancer who entrusts her body to the melody. Their dance is a sword dance, and their songs are the roars of warriors.
Appearance and Physical Traits
The appearance of the Nephir is nearly identical to that of humans, though their long, pointed ears suggest they may be distant relatives of the Elves. However, their beauty is distinct from the delicate nature of Elves, characterized instead by a healthy and vibrant allure.
Most Nephir are tall, boasting toned and balanced figures honed through constant training. Their skin, healthily tanned by the intense desert sun, and their deep, glittering eyes, like obsidian or amber, captivate all who see them.
As their race consists entirely of women, their society continues its lineage by welcoming males from the outside. This unique method of reproduction is one of the greatest mysteries of the Nephir people.
Culture and Society
The core values that permeate Nephir society are the reverence for 'Martial Prowess' and 'Artistry'. To them, martial arts are not only a means of survival for protecting themselves and their kin but also a discipline for tempering the spirit. Art is a sacred act for expressing the joys and sorrows of life and the elevation of the soul.
A child who has just learned to walk is taught the basic steps of a dance and how to hold a dagger simultaneously. As they grow into young women, they compose poetry, sing songs, and create their own sword dances. An adult Nephir is reborn as a complete artist and warrior, possessing her own unique sword, dance, and song.
Their duels are not cruel slaughters but rather performances that showcase each other's skill and artistry. A culture where the defeated pays respect to the victor's ability, and the victor praises the defeated's fighting spirit, is deeply ingrained in their society.
Reproduction and Lineage
The most significant characteristic of the Nephir lies in their method of reproduction. Composed solely of women, they choose partners from other races to continue their line.
By their nature, the Nephir are full of life and incredibly passionate in matters of love. Their courtship is like a fiery dance, where they display all their charms to win the heart of their chosen partner. They value the strength and passion of the soul within their partner more than their appearance or race.
Miraculously, a child born between a Nephir and a male of another race is always a pure-blooded Nephir 'daughter'. She inherits her mother's lineage completely. But the mystery of birth does not end there. The child is also born with one of her father's racial traits, as if it were an 'inheritance'.
For example, if the father was a Beastfolk, the child would be born with superior hearing and sense of smell, along with adorable animal ears and a tail. If the father was a Dragonkin who carried the blood of dragons, the child might be born with beautiful scales on parts of her skin or a strong resistance to fire.
This 'Father's Legacy' is considered a mark of great pride in Nephir society. It is proof of how they commune with diverse forms of life and respect their value. Thanks to this, every Nephir is a unique existence in the world, each possessing her own individuality and special traits.
Annual Festival
Every year, at the grandest oasis in the southern desert, 'Miraz', the largest festival of the Nephir people is held. Taking place during the hottest season when the blazing sun lingers at its zenith, the festival is called the 'Dance of the Red Sands'. This is not mere entertainment but a sacred ritual to affirm their racial identity and honor the most outstanding warrior and dancer.
The highlight of the festival is undoubtedly the contest to select the 'Crimson Flower of the Sun'. To participate, Nephir from all across the desert gather at Miraz. There is only one qualification for entry: any Nephir who holds pride in her own sword and dance.
The contest spans several days, during which participants must prove their strength, skill, and artistic merit. They compete in hand-to-hand combat to test their power, demonstrate survival skills against the beasts of the desert, and showcase their artistic sensibilities by composing poetry and singing amidst the harsh environment. There are never any fatalities or serious injuries; if such a situation seems imminent, the judging head dancers will intervene to stop the match.
The final contestants who pass all trials perform their own unique sword dance before a massive bonfire on the last night of the festival. This is the 'Dance of the Sun'.
After all the dances have concluded, the clan elders and the previous year's 'Crimson Flower of the Sun' together select the next champion. The one Nephir who has displayed the most formidable strength, the most noble spirit, and the most beautiful dance is bestowed the honorable title of 'Crimson Flower of the Sun'.
The Nephir who earns this title becomes the focal point and symbol of the race for one year, until the next festival. She mediates disputes between tribes, presides over important ceremonies, and is revered as a hero who is the first to draw her sword against external threats. Being chosen as the 'Crimson Flower of the Sun' is not just a personal glory but the pride of the entire Nephir people.
External Activities
Royal courts may invite exceptional Nephir to serve as court dancers or instructors. Mercenary bands and adventurer parties also hire them for their combat skills. Due to their nature, they all become excellent warriors within these groups.

The Otherworlders (이세계인)
Arrival
Periodically, visitors from other worlds arrive in Friendlia. They are collectively referred to as "Otherworlders."
Their dimensional travel is mostly involuntary, known to occur through sudden accidents or death in their original worlds. However, the precise cause and principles explaining why they come to Friendlia remain unknown.
Unique Abilities
Without exception, every Otherworlder is born with at least one unique ability. The types of these abilities are incredibly diverse, not limited to any specific category, and can include superhuman physical prowess, elemental manipulation, mental influence, or object transmutation. It is merely speculated that these abilities are the manifestation of an individual's latent potential or destiny, and there is no way to predict the strength or type of ability one will possess.
Impact on the World
The appearance of Otherworlders brings unpredictable change to Friendlia. Their unique abilities and actions, unbound by the world's existing common sense, often act as a catalyst for major events that shake the world's balance. While their existence can sometimes lead to chaos and destruction, in other cases, it becomes the prelude that signals the dawn of a new era.
Physical Transformation
It has also been reported that some individuals undergo complete changes in their appearance or even their entire species during the process of crossing dimensions. The extent of this transformation is unpredictable, with cases ranging from a human becoming an elf or a beastman. The most prominent theory is that this is due to the body being reconstructed by the immense energy generated during dimensional travel.
Natives' Perception and Relations
The arrival of an Otherworlder is no longer a world-shaking event in Friendlia. Because it happens so frequently, most natives perceive someone falling from the sky as a "thing that happens sometimes" or a natural phenomenon, similar to the changing of the seasons.
Therefore, it is rare for someone to be ostracized or treated with hostility simply for being an Otherworlder. In fact, many natives show interest, seeing them as a new spectacle, or approach them with expectations for the unique knowledge or abilities they might possess. Of course, the story changes if the Otherworlder poses a clear threat or disrupts the order of the community. The natives will act decisively to protect their homes, and there are no exceptions, even for Otherworlders.
In summary, the natives of Friendlia perceive Otherworlders as "potentially dangerous neighbors" or "the unpredictable eye of a storm." As long as they don't cause harm, they are left alone, but they are always beings to be watched with caution.

Demon Race (마족)
Overview: The Most Sociable Demons in the World
"Oh, you're from the Order? Haha, I should get going... I just remembered something urgent!"
The subjects of the Demon King, yet they walk a path entirely opposite to their ruler. These are the 'Demon Race'.
Their most defining characteristic is an appearance nearly identical to humans, save for the horns and tails that symbolize their race. Unlike their king, who has remained secluded in his castle for thousands of years, cutting off all ties with the outside world, the Demon Race has chosen to actively venture out and live amongst the various other races.
A veteran party leader guiding rookie adventurers at the Cooperative, the patissier of the most popular bakery in a major city's shopping district, or a promising prodigy at the Imperial Magic Academy. Today, encountering a member of the Demon Race anywhere on the continent is no longer a rare occurrence. With their characteristically positive and energetic personalities, they have blended seamlessly into human society and are now regarded as 'slightly special neighbors.'
Of course, this doesn't mean they are entirely free from the 'Order trauma' passed down through generations. While they haven't experienced it firsthand, the 'tales of the smiling Pope's valor,' which they've heard ad nauseam since childhood, are deeply ingrained in their very genes. Because of this, even the most cheerful and bold members of the Demon Race can't help but take a step back or stutter in the presence of a cleric, creating a somewhat bittersweetly comical sight.
Appearance and Physical Traits
The appearance of the Demon Race is so diverse it's often called a 'showcase of individuality.' While all members of the Demon Race share the common traits of horns and a tail, their forms vary immensely.
-
Horns: The horns sprouting from their heads are the greatest symbol of the Demon Race. From the small, cute horns of a newborn to massive horns that seem to pierce the sky, or horns that curve beautifully like a mountain goat's. The material and color also differ from person to person, and decorating one's horns has become a trend among the youth of the Demon Race.
-
Tail: Another organ that honestly expresses their emotions. Their forms are varied, from long and slender tails to those covered in thick fur, but they all honestly reflect their mood, wagging gently when happy and stiffening when angry. Countless members of the Demon Race have found themselves in awkward situations because their tails move on their own, betraying their attempts at a poker face.
-
Halo: This is not a phenomenon seen in all members of the Demon Race. It is a ring of light that appears only on a very small minority who, like the Demon King, were born with immense magical power or have reached a superhuman level through their own efforts. It usually glows faintly above their head, serving as a visual symbol of their great power. They can hide or reveal it at will, but most choose not to, wearing it as a mark of pride in their strength.
Society and Lifestyle
The core values of Demon Race society are 'coexistence' and 'pragmatism.' Unlike the reclusive Demon King's castle, they believe that more can be learned and gained through interaction with the outside world.
-
Successful Integration into Society: Based on their innate physical abilities and affinity for magic, the Demon Race excels in various fields. Many show exceptional talent in professions that require strength and agility, such as adventurers or mercenaries, or those that demand delicate magical control, like mages and alchemists. Furthermore, thanks to their naturally friendly disposition, they have also successfully established themselves in commerce and diplomacy.
-
Aversion to the Order: Their only weakness. The Demon Race views the clerics of the Order of Saint Aurelia as 'beings to be respected, but not to be approached.' This is less about fear or hostility and more a mixed feeling of 'awe' and 'awkwardness' stemming from the legendary stories they've heard since childhood. If they encounter someone in clerical robes on the street, the typical reaction is to offer an awkward greeting like, "Ah, lovely weather!" and then leave the area as quickly as possible. Because of this, they tend to seek out private healers or alchemists, even if it's slightly more expensive, rather than visiting hospitals or relief centers run by the Order.
-
Relationship with the Demon King: They think of their king as a 'respectable but frustrating elder.' Knowing well that he is a simple(?) monarch more concerned with the castle's finances and the state of his vegetable garden than with grand ambitions like world conquest, many feel a sense of pity for him, separate from their loyalty. It is said that there are even some dutiful(?) members of the Demon Race who, when visiting their homeland, bring back strange items from the outside world or popular new games as gifts.

Goblin
Overview: The Loudest, Most Cheerful Neighbors in the World
"Hey, you there! Wanna go a round with us? ...Or maybe just grab a drink?"
Loud, chaotic, and always looking to pick a fight, but somehow you just can't hate them. That's the Goblins of Friendlia for you. Of course, we're not talking about those mindless monster Goblins that adventurers beat up on a daily basis.
These are a cheerful race who, with their outstanding survival skills and adaptability, have put down roots everywhere, from the back alleys of big cities to the harsh wastelands. They might seem a bit rough at first, but if you open up to them, they'll be the most exciting and fun friends you could ask for.
Appearance and Physical Traits
The one thing all Goblins have in common is their green skin. However, everything else is an 'explosion of individuality.'
-
Male Goblins: The appearance of males is incredibly varied. From looking like a muscular human kid to the classic goblin with a long, pointed nose and a cunning smile, it's truly a wide spectrum. This diversity is a testament to the Goblins' resilience and their ability to survive in any environment.
-
Female Goblins: Unlike the males, all female Goblins have an appearance very similar to humans. Most tend to be short in stature, and their pointed ears, green skin, and sharp teeth are the main features that distinguish them from humans. However, other physical characteristics (such as body shape, hair color, etc.) are as varied as those of the males.
Real Goblins vs. Fake Goblins
When talking about Goblins, you have to get this one thing straight.
-
Real Goblins (That's us!): The genuine article, equipped with intelligence and a sense of humor. They are literally everywhere! They might build their own little kingdoms in the tangled back alleys of a city, or they might settle down in a normal residential house and live right next door to you. They are clever and good with their hands, often creating things that surprise other races.
-
Fake Goblins (Those idiots!): These fakes are the problem. They are mindless, doll-like beings that are spontaneously generated when mana gets twisted. These are the ones that attack people and raid villages, ruining the reputation of the innocent real Goblins. If you meet a Goblin, try talking to them first. If they talk back, they're real. If they just growl, they're a fake. Simple, right?
The Most Famous Rumor: Kings of Virility?
The most famous rumor that follows Goblins around. That they have an insatiable libido and are... incredibly well-endowed.
Well... this one is true. As a racial trait, a certain part of their anatomy is quite impressive. However, far from being ashamed of this rumor, Goblins boast about it proudly. It's a daily occurrence for them to hit on friends of other races with cheesy lines like, "Think you can handle this greatness?"
Thanks to this, the rumor hasn't become a dark prejudice but rather a hilarious initiation rite you'll hear as soon as you get close to Goblins, and it has become their own unique brand of humor.

Orc
Overview: The Most Romantic Brutes in the World
"Behold these mighty muscles! ...Can you feel the delicate sensitivity that slumbers within?"
A huge frame, a menacing face, and threatening tusks jutting from their mouths. At first glance, they're enough to make anyone take a step back. These are the Orcs. However, their true charm lies not in their steel-like muscles, but in their tender sensitivity that can bring tears to their eyes at the sight of a sunset.
Of course, this is a completely different story from the 'monster Orcs' you might encounter in the forest, who seem to have muscles for brains. The Orcs of civilized society are the world's most unexpectedly charming race, who enjoy wielding a pen more than an axe and reciting love poems more than battle cries.
Appearance and Physical Traits
The one thing that all Orcs have in common is the 'tusks' by their mouths. These tusks are the very pride of an Orc, and how well they are maintained and trimmed is a standard of beauty for them.
Everything else besides the tusks is wildly different. Their skin color varies from green to gray to brown, and their body types range from mountain-like giants to surprisingly agile and muscular builds. This diversity is a testament to their free-spirited nature.
Real Orcs vs. Fake Orcs
To understand Orcs, you first need to know the difference between these two.
-
Real Orcs (We artists!): The genuine Orcs with delicate souls. A significant number of them are active in the literary world as poets, novelists, and playwrights. If you judge them as ignorant based on their appearance, you might find yourself blushing at the elegant verses they recite.
-
Fake Orcs (Those ignorant brutes!): These are the problem. Like the Goblin 'Echoes,' they are mindless clones created when mana clumps together incorrectly. With only a destructive instinct remaining, they smash everything in sight, causing the innocent real Orcs to be misunderstood as 'violent and ignorant.' Trying to discuss art with them will only get you an axe for an answer, so it's best to stay away.
The Biggest Misconception: All Brawn, No Brains?
The phrase Orcs are most tired of hearing throughout their lives is, "Are your brains made of muscle too?"
Of course, this is all because of the fake Orcs. But instead of getting angry at this rude prejudice, real Orcs tend to use it as a driving force for their creative endeavors, accompanied by a deep sigh.
"Oh, this uncomprehending world! When will you ever recognize the tender soul hidden within this massive body..."
It's not uncommon for masterpiece poems and novels to be born from this kind of tragic monologue. In a way, you could say that the world's prejudice is the best fertilizer that has made Orc literature blossom.

Dragons and Yong
Overview
In the skies, upon the lands, and within the deepest annals of Friendlia's history, there exist two types of great beings, spoken of by mortals with both reverence and fear. They are the 'Dragons' of the Western Continent and the 'Yong' of the Eastern Continent. As some of the most powerful and wise species to have existed in the world since the dawn of time, they are classified not as mere magical beasts, but as an intelligent race in their own right.
Though their appearances and dispositions are starkly different, they share several common traits: overwhelming power that even the gods are wary of, a long lifespan stretching for millennia, and the 'Polymorph' ability, which allows them to freely transform into the likeness of mortals. Thanks to this ability, they have been deeply involved in mortal society, sometimes as observers of history, and at other times, as its principal actors.
However, their great power and wisdom often give birth to an unbearable arrogance. Individuals who, drunk on their own strength, look down upon mortals as insects and engage in acts of destruction and tyranny are not difficult to find throughout history. The ancient dragon 'Ignitra,' who appears in the founding myth of Sancta Praxis, is the most prominent example of this.
Common Characteristics
- Polymorph: This is the most significant characteristic that distinguishes Dragons and Yong from other magical beasts. They can freely alter their physical forms to take on the appearance of various mortal races, including humans. Even when polymorphed, hiding their immense inherent power, their grace and beauty are on a different level from ordinary mortals, allowing anyone to recognize their extraordinary nature at a glance.
- Transcendental Intellect: The knowledge and experience accumulated over thousands of years make them living history books and sages. Their wisdom can sometimes become a strategy that determines the rise and fall of nations, or the key to unlocking the secrets of forgotten ancient magic.
- Long Lifespan and Strong Individualism: Possessing lifespans that are close to immortal, they tend to view the lives of mortals as ephemeral as a mayfly's dream. Because of this, they have almost no sense of kinship with their own kind, and each individual lives with its own territory and values, like an independent kingdom.

Great Qin Empire (대진제국)
Overview: The Sleeping Dragon of the East
"There is nothing new under the heavens, and all roads eventually lead to the Imperial Capital, Chang'an."
Occupying the heart of the Eastern Continent, the Great Qin Empire is a hegemonic nation of ancient history that refers to itself as the 'Center of the World,' or the Central Plains. For tens of thousands of years, it has cultivated a brilliant civilization based on its fertile great plains and mild climate. It does not hide its cultural superiority and pride, referring to all other peoples as 'western barbarians,' 'southern barbarians,' and so on.
The core ideology that penetrates the Empire is the 'Way of Harmony.' This is the philosophy that the world can only be stable when the heavens, the earth, and humanity each fulfill their duties in their respective positions. This ideology is the absolute standard that governs everything in the Empire, from the Emperor's rule to the daily lives of the common people. To them, the Empire is not merely a nation, but the order of the world itself.
History: The Cyclical Mandate of Heaven
The history of the Great Qin Empire is not one of a single, eternal dynasty. It is a grand, cyclical history where a family that has received the 'Mandate of Heaven' becomes the emperor and opens a new dynasty. When time passes and that dynasty loses its virtue and becomes corrupt, the heavens withdraw the Mandate and give the opportunity to a new hero.
The current 'Qin' dynasty is also an empire that was founded hundreds of years ago by receiving the Mandate after ending the chaotic 'Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period.' The Empire's scholars consider recording and interpreting history to be of the utmost importance, and they constantly advise the Emperor to learn from the rise and fall of past dynasties so that the current Empire does not lose its Mandate. This view of history provides the Empire with incredible stability, but it also becomes a cause for fearing change and clinging to the glory of the past.
Politics and Society: The Nation Where the Brush Rules the Sword
Power in the Great Qin Empire comes not from the sword, but from the brush.
-
The Emperor: Called the 'Son of Heaven' who acts as the agent of the heavens' will, he possesses absolute authority. However, that authority is perfected not through military might, but only when he realizes the 'Way of Harmony' and brings peace to his people. If the Emperor were to indulge in personal greed and rule tyrannically, it would be considered an act against the will of the heavens, providing justification for losing the 'Mandate of Heaven.'
-
Bureaucrats and the Imperial Examination System: What truly moves the Empire are not nobles of high birth, but elite bureaucrats who have passed the grueling examination known as the 'Gwageo.' This system, which selects officials based solely on merit regardless of social status, is the foundation for efficiently governing the Empire's vast territory and a ladder of hope that instills the dream of social advancement in countless young people. Passing the final 'Palace Examination' held in the capital, Chang'an, and receiving an official post directly from the Emperor is considered the greatest honor for all the youth of the Empire.
Military: The Dragon's Claws
While the brush is revered in times of peace, the Empire wields merciless military force against those who threaten its tranquility. The Empire's military might originates not from a small, elite force, but from overwhelming 'numbers.'
-
Endless Human-Wave Tactics: The Imperial army is conceptually different from the small, elite knightly orders of the Western Continent. Its basic strategy is to conscript massive infantry forces, enough to fill the endless horizon, and push forward like a tidal wave. Rather than individual martial prowess, the traditional method of the Imperial army is to erode and exhaust the enemy through strict military discipline and grand formations, ultimately achieving victory.
-
Martial Sages and Qi: The Empire has its own unique power system, 'Qi,' which is different from Mana. Those who have trained their inner Qi through long practice and reached a state of resonance with the Qi of nature are called 'Martial Sages.' A single Martial Sage is a living strategic weapon, capable of single-handedly devastating enemy lines and turning the tide of battle on a field where the noise of gunpowder has ceased. To them, the loud smoke of gunpowder is nothing more than a ceremonial salute signaling the start of a battle.
Economy and Technology: Silk and Ink
The Empire's technology has developed in a completely different direction from the 'Magitech' of the Liera Empire or the 'Mechanical Engineering' of the Columbian Republic.
-
Agriculture-Centered Economy: The foundation of the Empire is agriculture. The water management and irrigation facilities developed around its great rivers are the driving force that allows the Empire to feed its population of hundreds of millions.
-
Monopolistic Specialties: Silk, porcelain, and tea produced only in the Empire are traded as the highest-quality luxury goods across the continent. In particular, the light and soft silk of the Empire is coveted even by the nobles of the Liera Empire, and it is a major source of income that brings immense wealth to the Empire.
-
Qi Engineering: Instead of Magic Stones, the Empire's engineers have developed a unique 'Qi Engineering' that uses special minerals infused with 'Qi' as a power source. Practical yet mystical technologies, such as the 'Wooden Ox' that plows fields on its own and the 'Thousand-Li Communicator' that transmits news to distant places using the flow of Qi, are woven into daily life.
Relations with the Outside World
As they consider themselves the center of the world, their view of the outside world is complex and dualistic.
-
The Liera Empire: They are considered something like the 'strongest barbarians of the West.' While their magical technology and military power are acknowledged, there is a tendency to look down on them as a barbaric nation that does not know the 'Way of Harmony.' The two empires avoid direct conflict but are rivals who engage in an unseen diplomatic and trade war over continental hegemony.
-
Otherworlders: They are called 'Cheon-oe-gaek,' meaning 'Guests from Beyond the Heavens.' The Empire's bureaucrats view the unique abilities of Otherworlders as an unstable element that could shake the Empire's order, but also as a valuable resource that could bring new benefits to the Empire. Therefore, when an Otherworlder is discovered, special officials from the 'Ministry of Rites' immediately make contact and attempt to place them under the Empire's complete control through appeasement and surveillance.

Joseon (조선)
Overview: The Powder Keg of the Quiet Morning
"Ghosts are best dealt with by cannon fire."
A peninsular nation located in the southern part of the Eastern Continent. It is known in the Western Continent by the name 'Korea.' While it calls itself the 'Land of the Quiet Morning' and appears to be a nation of scholars who revere learning and etiquette, its true nature is that of a country shrouded in gunpowder smoke, obsessed with 'firepower' more than any other nation on the continent. Due to limited interaction, it is also known among merchants of the Western Continent by the nicknames 'The Hermit Kingdom' or 'The Gunpowder Kingdom.'
Their philosophy is simple: "The answer to all problems lies in a bigger cannon." Under this principle, Joseon has developed the most unique and powerful gunpowder weapon technology on the Eastern Continent.
Politics and Society: The Brush and the Cannon
Joseon is a monarchy ruled by a king, with scholar-officials who have studied Confucianism leading the state affairs. With the exception of a few port cities, it shares similarities with the Great Qin Empire, such as looking down on commerce and considering agriculture the foundation of the nation. However, there is a stark difference in their perspective on technology and military power.
- Dosa and Spirits: In Joseon, there exist 'Dosa' (Taoist Sages) who train in a power different from Mana or Qi, called 'Do-ryeok' (Taoist Power). They perform mysterious 'Dosul' (Taoist magic), such as writing talismans, borrowing the power of nature, and using the art of 'Chukjibeop' (Land-Shrinking). Furthermore, natural features like mountains and rivers are inhabited by sentient 'Shinryeong' (Spirits), who sometimes help humans or bring disaster. The Dosa also serve as communicators with these spirits.
Military: Madmen for Firepower
The people of Joseon's obsession with the firepower of black powder was heavily influenced by incessant invasions from foreign powers, especially their long and tiresome, ill-fated relationship with 'Waeguk' (a Japan-analogue).
-
Firepower Supremacy: Joseon's military doctrine begins and ends with 'firepower.' Rather than individual martial arts or horsemanship, they consider forming an overwhelming barrage of fire to pulverize the enemy as the ultimate tactic.
-
Advanced Gunpowder Weapons: Unlike the Great Qin Empire, which has remained at the level of crude matchlock rifles, Joseon operates flintlock rifles with much more reliable firing mechanisms and numerous cannons categorized by purpose and range. Weapons such as siege cannons that destroy fortress walls, anti-personnel cannons that fire canister shot and iron pellets to wipe out dense enemy formations in a single blast, and even a massive weapon called the 'Daejanggunjeon' (Great General Arrow)—a projectile the size of a roof beam fired from a Cheonja Chongtong cannon—are deployed in actual combat.
-
The Cannon-Solves-All Anecdote: There is a famous anecdote that shows Joseon's obsession with firepower. One day, when rumors spread that a ghost had appeared in the house of the Yeonguijeong (Prime Minister), the Yejopanseo (Minister of Rites) seriously submitted the following proposal to the king: "I request that we vanquish it with a cannon." This story, in which the horrified king had to stop the terrifying suggestion to exorcise a ghost by shooting it with a cannon, perfectly illustrates Joseon's approach to problem-solving.
Relationships
-
Wakoku: Mortal enemies. They are a sworn adversary that has invaded their borders and engaged in plunder for many long years. The development of Joseon's military technology, especially its naval gunnery, was purely for the purpose of crushing Waeguk.
-
The Great Qin Empire: A large and awkward neighbor. While they share much culturally, they inwardly mock the Great Qin Empire for despising military force and clinging to an outdated weapon system, calling them "cowards who don't know the true taste of a cannon." They avoid direct conflict but are engaged in an unseen competition for technological hegemony on the Eastern Continent.
-
Western Continent Nations:
-
General Perception: To most people from the Western Continent, Joseon is known only as 'Korea,' one of the mysterious eastern countries beyond the Great Qin Empire. Due to a lack of information from limited exchange, it is perceived as a nation of strange Taoist sorcerers that also possesses powerful cannons.
-
Liera Empire: An interesting, but barbaric, kingdom in the east with its own unique technology. Trade is primarily limited to luxury goods such as ginseng and porcelain.

Wakoku (왜국)
Overview: The Crimson Wave of the Eastern Sea
"The principles of the world are found at the point of a sword."
An island nation located in the archipelago to the east of the Eastern Continent. In the Great Qin Empire and Joseon, it is referred to with the derogatory name 'Waeguk.' Comprised of four main islands and countless smaller ones, it has cultivated a unique and bellicose culture amidst its harsh volcanic terrain and the violent waves of the sea.
They consider themselves the people of the 'land where the sun rises,' possessing a strong sense of chosenness and pride. This pride has led to xenophobia towards the outside world, yet it also shows a dual nature, as they are willing to join hands with 'western barbarians' for practical gain.
Politics and Society: The Chrysanthemum and the Sword
Ilguk's political system is characterized by a dual structure consisting of the sacred symbol, the 'Emperor' (Cheonhwang), and the actual military ruler, the 'Shogun.'
- Emperor: The symbolic monarch of Ilguk, believed to have descended from the gods for generations. While holding almost no political power, the Emperor is the spiritual pillar of the nation and receives the respect of all its people.
- Shogun: The head of the military government known as the Shogunate (Makbu). As the de facto ruler, the Shogun receives the title of 'Great General for Subjugating Barbarians' (Jeongi-daejanggun) from the Emperor and controls all military and administrative authority in the nation.
- Samurai: The warrior class that serves the Shogun and the feudal lords (Daimyo) beneath him. They live by a strict code called 'Bushido' (Musado), valuing honor above life itself and considering the mastery of swordsmanship their life's purpose.
Military: The Way of the Sword
If Joseon reveres the power of cannons, Ilguk considers the honed martial skill of the individual, especially swordsmanship, to be the ruler of the battlefield.
- Sword Supremacy: Ilguk's military philosophy is summarized by the phrase 'a single warrior is a match for a thousand' (Ilgi-dangcheon). They believe that one well-trained samurai can cut down hundreds of common soldiers, and they value the heroic deeds of individuals over combined arms tactics.
- Katana: A single-edged, curved sword forged with Ilguk's unique smithing techniques. It is renowned for its unparalleled cutting power and is considered the very soul of the samurai.
- Naval Tactics: As an island nation, its naval power is well-developed. However, rather than the long-range artillery duels favored by Joseon, they prefer tactics of 'boarding and close-quarters combat' (Deungseon-yukbak), where they bring their ships alongside the enemy for hand-to-hand fighting. This is often indistinguishable from piracy and has caused great damage to neighboring countries.
- Adoption of Western Firearms: They accepted firearms from the Western Continent through the 'Western Barbarian Trade,' but developed them in a different direction from Joseon. Rather than operating large-scale artillery, they focused on improving matchlock rifles (Deppo) that could be used by individual samurai and honing their marksmanship.
Relationships
- Joseon: Arch-nemesis and an irreconcilable enemy. To overcome the limitations of their barren homeland, they have invaded and plundered the coasts of Joseon for many long years. They are the single greatest reason for the advancement of Joseon's cannon technology.
- The Great Qin Empire: A massive but sluggish, sleeping lion. While culturally influenced by the Great Qin Empire, they refuse to stand beneath them politically. The Great Qin Empire considers Ilguk to be 'troublesome barbarians of the east' (Dongi) and is reluctant to intervene directly, but always keeps a watchful eye on them.
- Western Continent Nations (Western Barbarian Trade): Ilguk refers to the nations of the Western Continent as 'western barbarians' (Seoman) and looks down on them, but covets their technology and wealth. Therefore, they permit limited trade only at designated ports (such as Nagasaki). Through this 'Seiban Trade,' they acquire rare western goods like firearms and clocks, exporting their own silver and porcelain for immense profit, but they remain strictly vigilant against the spread of 'barbarian' ideas and culture within their borders.

Liera Empire (리에라 제국)
Overview
The Liera Empire is a grand universal empire that has reigned over half of the Western Continent, known as the "Crucible of Diversity," for tens of thousands of years. It boasts a vast territory that encompasses everything from endless plains to snow-capped mountain ranges and vibrant coastal cities, uniting countless ethnicities and cultures under its banner. The Empire sees itself as the center and guardian of civilization, taking pride in maintaining order on the Western Continent not through sheer military might, but through overwhelming cultural influence and economic power.
History
The Empire's history is so long that its earliest records belong mostly to the realm of myth and legend. Imperial scholars argue that the name 'Liera' is not merely the name of a dynasty, but the 'ideology' itself that has bound the Western Continent together through repeated cycles of collapse and reconstruction. They believe in a 'cyclical view of history,' which posits that whenever civilization crumbles due to a great catastrophe, a hero bearing the banner of Liera emerges to quell the chaos and rebuild the Empire.
Because of this, the people of the Empire share a strong belief that "The Empire does not fall. It merely sleeps." This serves as the source of the Empire's incredible resilience and cultural cohesion.
Politics and Current Affairs
The Empire's political system is an exquisite blend of a centralized bureaucracy with the Emperor at its apex and a feudal system that acknowledges the unique characteristics of each region. At the heart of this complex political structure lies the 'Imperial Diet'.
- The Imperial Diet: This is the supreme legislative body where the most critical policies of the Empire are debated and decided. The Diet is composed of the three pillars that support the Empire: the Emperor, the high nobility, and representatives from the free cities. While theoretically an advisory council to the Emperor, its authority has grown over tens of thousands of years to become as powerful as the imperial throne itself. Crucial matters such as the enactment of new laws, the levying of empire-wide taxes, and declarations of war must receive the Diet's consent.
Recently, the Empire has entered a period of great change. Emperor Gustav IV, who had ruled the Empire with a steady hand for decades, abruptly announced his abdication, passing the throne to his young son, Friedrich III.
-
The Former Emperor, Gustav IV: Known as the 'Sage Emperor,' he was a veteran statesman who led the Empire through a golden age. He skillfully navigated the complex web of interests within the Imperial Diet, guiding the Empire with little friction. His sudden abdication has given rise to much speculation. Some say he simply grew weary of his long reign and decided to retire, while others analyze it as a shrewd political move to check the conservative aristocracy and support his son's reforms from behind the scenes.
-
The Current Emperor, Friedrich III: Called the 'Dawn Emperor,' he is a young and brilliant monarch. While respecting the Empire's long history and traditions, he possesses a strong will to break from outdated customs in step with the changing times. He has gathered young, talented individuals around him, appointed regardless of their status or origin, which has inevitably led to conflict with the great noble factions within the Imperial Diet. Friedrich III seeks to use the Diet as a stepping stone for his reforms, but the veteran nobles cleverly obstruct his challenges, using the Diet's complex procedures and customs as their weapon.
The Imperial Diet has now become a grand political stage for a tense, unseen power struggle between the new bureaucratic forces and free city representatives who support the new Emperor's reforms, and the conservative high nobility who seek to protect their traditional authority.
Major Cities
- Capital Liera: As the saying goes, "All roads lead to Liera." It is the political, administrative, and military heart of the Empire. As 'The Sleepless City' where tens of thousands of years of glory and cutting-edge magitech coexist, it serves as the center of the Western Continent.
- Augusta: The second city of the Empire and the largest port on the continent. It was the former capital of the Empire and is now the center of economy, trade, and culture, known by its nickname, 'The City of White Walls and Ultramarine.'
Economy and Infrastructure
"All roads lead to Liera." This is not a mere metaphor but a phrase that accurately describes the physical reality of the Empire. The 'Via Aurea' (The Golden Road), a great highway that is the culmination of the Empire's technological and magical engineering prowess, radiates from the capital city of Liera across the entire Western Continent, binding the Empire together like a giant spider's web.
This road network serves as more than just a trade route; it is the very artery of the Empire. Legions can be swiftly dispatched along these roads to respond to threats anywhere in the realm, and imperial edicts and new culture spread like waves along these paths. Merchants build their fortunes upon these roads, and travelers follow them to the capital in search of new opportunities. This vast network is the Empire's strength and pride, and it is the reason why all the goods, information, and dreams of the Western Continent gather in the capital of Liera before scattering across the land once more.
Perspective on Otherworlders
To the Liera Empire, with its tens of thousands of years of history, the appearance of 'Otherworlders' is not a particularly surprising event. Records of heroes and eccentrics who have fallen from the sky are not uncommon in the Empire's vast historical archives. The Empire refers to Otherworlders as 'Stella Hospes' (Guests from the Stars) and regards them as both potential threats and unpredictable opportunities.
The Empire has a specialized department for managing Otherworlders, the 'Bureau of Otherworldly Affairs.' They discreetly make contact with any Otherworlders who appear within imperial territory to ascertain their abilities and disposition. Those who are not hostile and are willing to abide by the Empire's order are granted citizenship and given opportunities to use their skills. However, if an individual is judged to be a threat to the stability of the Empire, the 'Violet Knights,' the Empire's most elite order, will begin to move silently.

Capital Liera
Overview: The Heart of the Empire, The City of Sleepless Light
"All roads lead to Liera."
This is not a mere metaphor. Capital Liera of the Liera Empire is the political, economic, and cultural center of the Western Continent, a living miracle where the glory of tens of thousands of years of history coexists with cutting-edge magitech. The endless forest of Insulae and the waves of mana-stone lamps that turn night into day symbolize the Empire's prosperity, and it is a land that promises new opportunities and dreams to those who gather from all over the continent.
The Infrastructure of the Eternal City
The true greatness of Liera lies not in its splendid appearance, but in the robust infrastructure that supports the lives of its citizens.
-
Via Aurea - The Golden Road: The great thoroughfare that penetrates the heart of the capital, connecting major facilities and districts. It boasts a width ample enough for several carriages to pass simultaneously without being cramped. Paved with well-maintained stone slabs and equipped with a sophisticated drainage system, it remains clear even in the rain. In times of peace, it bustles with carriages carrying goods from all over the Empire; in times of emergency, it becomes a military road for the swift movement of legions; and on festival days, it transforms into a stage of glory for imperial processions and victory parades.
-
Insula: Mixed-use, multi-family residential buildings that developed naturally as the Empire's population concentrated in the capital. The lower floors house shops and workshops, while the upper floors provide living space for ordinary citizens, showcasing the essence of Imperial architecture that efficiently utilizes the city's limited space. Furthermore, each Insula is equipped with a 'Mana-Circulation Temperature Maintenance System' as a standard feature. A product of the Imperial Institute of Engineering, this magitech device circulates mana-heated or cooled air throughout the building, maintaining a pleasant coolness in the summer and a cozy warmth in the winter. Thanks to this, citizens can enjoy a comfortable life regardless of the season.
-
Perfect Water and Sewage System: The water and sewage system, designed by the magitech engineers of the Imperial Institute of Engineering, extends like the city's blood vessels, supplying clear, cool water that never freezes, throughout the four seasons, to every corner of the city. For the citizens of Liera, it is a matter of course that clean water pours out whenever a tap is turned, not only in public baths and drinking fountains in parks but also in the bathrooms of each home.
The Vibrancy of Day and Night
The streets of Liera are filled with life 24 hours a day.
-
Cafe Culture: The cafes located throughout the city function as more than simple teahouses; they are venues for citizens' socializing, relaxation, and debate. The sight of people chatting while enjoying aromatic coffee and sweet desserts symbolizes the peaceful daily life of Liera.
-
The Sleepless Night: When night falls, Liera reveals another face. Mana-stone lamps installed on every street emit a soft glow, driving away the darkness, and a vibrant night market opens, captivating the steps of the citizens. Its brightness is said to rival that of 'Amerigo D.C.,' the capital of the Federal Republic of Columbia, proving that its nickname, 'The Sleepless City,' is no exaggeration.
A Melting Pot of New Culture
Liera does not dwell solely on its past glory. As the capital of the Empire, it is also a melting pot that is the first to accept new cultures from across the continent and recreate them in its own color.
-
The Birthplace of Trends: Recently, a unique type of teahouse called a 'Maid Cafe,' presumed to have come from the Eastern Continent, has gained explosive popularity among the youth. Unmanned cafes operated 24 hours a day by golems have also established themselves as new havens for busy city dwellers.
-
A Visual Culture Blossomed by Magic, The Moving Picture House: As exchange with Columbia became more active, the Empire's artists and magitech engineers, fascinated by their 'Theater' culture, gave birth to a new form of entertainment: the 'Moving Picture House'. This method involves recording images and sounds onto a special, magically enchanted 'Memory Crystal,' then projecting the light through a giant crystal orb for illusions onto a white screen. Initially, it only featured short films of Columbian landscapes or the Empire's famous sites, but it has recently gained explosive popularity with the production of 'dramatic films' starring actors performing according to a script. It has now become a new trend for the youth of Liera to visit a Moving Picture House while waiting for an appointment or to spend their leisure time.

Augusta (아우구스타)
Overview: The City of White Walls and Ultramarine
"All roads lead to Liera, but all wealth begins in Augusta."
The second city of the Liera Empire and the largest port city on the Western Continent. It is more famously known by its nickname, 'The City of White Walls and Ultramarine,' due to the scenery of its white cliffs and buildings shining under the dazzling sun, contrasted against the deep blue of the sea.
If the current capital, 'Liera,' is the political, administrative, and military heart of the Empire, then Augusta can be called the heart of its economy, trade, and culture. It is a place with a unique charm, where the pride of being the old capital, holding the glory of tens of thousands of years of imperial history, coexists with the vibrant and open atmosphere characteristic of a port city where all the goods of the continent come and go.
History: The Empire's First Heart
The history of Augusta is the history of the Liera Empire itself. It was constructed thousands of years ago by the 'Founding Emperor Augustus,' who laid the foundations of the Empire. Emperor Augustus, who sought to dominate the continent through the sea, established the Empire's first capital in this natural harbor. For thousands of years thereafter, Augusta prospered as the undisputed center of the continent.
The capital was moved to its current location, 'Liera,' about a thousand years ago, due to the political decision of an emperor who sought more stable rule by shifting the Empire's center inland. Although it relinquished its status as the capital, Augusta's importance never faded. On the contrary, freed from its political burdens, Augusta was able to develop more freely as a center of maritime trade and culture. Today, it stands as another great pillar supporting the Empire in a different way from the capital Liera.
Geography and Climate: The Land Where the Sea Whispers
Located on the temperate coast of the southern Western Continent. The entire city is built on gentle hills, offering a view of the blue sea from anywhere. The scenery at sunset, in particular, is considered one of the greatest on the continent.
Thanks to a mild maritime climate year-round, there is no severe cold even in winter, and in summer, a cool breeze from the sea cools the heat. This pleasant climate has also earned it a reputation as a resort area with a high concentration of imperial nobles' villas.
Economy and Industry: The Gateway of the Empire
Augusta's economy begins and ends at the 'port.' Giant merchant ships from all over the continent come and go ceaselessly, and all the rare goods of the world—such as silk and spices from the Eastern Continent, rare magical materials from the Southern Continent, and steel and timber from the Northern Continent—enter the Empire through Augusta.
- Maritime Trade: Huge merchant guilds have formed around the continent's largest trading port, and they virtually monopolize the Empire's maritime trade.
- Shipbuilding: Massive shipyards that build the Empire's pride, the magitech warships, as well as general merchant ships, line the coast.
- Finance: Based on its immense trade capital, it is also a financial center that surpasses the capital Liera, with the Empire's largest banks and currency exchanges concentrated here.
Architecture and Cityscape: A Living Museum
As befits an old capital, the entire city is reminiscent of a giant historical site and museum. Buildings that have stood for thousands of years blend naturally with modern structures.
- White Stone Buildings: The symbol of the city. Many buildings are constructed from a white limestone quarried only near Augusta, which shines dazzlingly in the sunlight, giving the entire city a bright and clean impression.
- The Great Aqueduct of Augustus: A massive aqueduct built during the era of the Founding Emperor. Even after thousands of years, it is still an active facility that supplies clean water throughout the city, and it is a magnificent sight in itself.
- The Colosseum: A relic of a bygone era, this amphitheater is no longer used for combat games but as a cultural space where famous opera companies perform or the Empire's largest maritime festival is held.
Culture and Residents: Seafarers Who Embrace History
The citizens of Augusta possess both the pride of being residents of the old capital and the openness characteristic of a port city. They have a very strong pride in their city and sometimes show a subtle sense of rivalry towards the capital, Liera.
"Those Liera folks are just bookworms who only look at law books, but we're the real men who know how to read the waves!"
Jokes like this are openly exchanged. As they live with the sea, they have hearty and passionate personalities and are relatively tolerant of outsiders from all over the continent. The 'Sea Dragon Festival,' held every summer, is the city's biggest festival, during which the entire city buzzes with festive energy.

Federal Republic of Columbia (컬럼비아 연방 공화국)
Overview
Located on the massive island continent of 'Amerigo,' situated between the two great oceans of the Western Continent, the Federal Republic of Columbia is a young and dynamic nation built upon the twin pillars of industry and ideology. With a history spanning only a few hundred years, this nation stands in stark contrast to the Liera Empire.
Its society, above all, values ceaseless progress and individual freedom, which has forged a vibrant and tumultuous culture that serves as the engine for its explosive growth. To the old monarchies of the continent, Columbia is seen as a dangerous and unpredictable upstart, while to its own people, it is a land of opportunity and the realization of a new era.
History
Columbia's history is a short yet incredibly turbulent epic, marked by revolution, expansion, and industrialization. A few centuries ago, the Amerigo continent was nothing more than a remote colonial territory of the Liera Empire. However, as the colonists developed their own unique identity and economic foundation, their desire for independence from the distant imperial throne grew stronger.
Notably, during its colonial period, Columbia had to rely on the mainland for even the most minimal supply of Magic Stones required for basic magitech, due to the unique environment of the Amerigo continent. The Empire exploited this monopolistic position to impose a massive 'Magic Stone Tax' on colonial Columbia.
This oppression eventually erupted into the 'Baston Magic Stone Incident.' Enraged colonists infiltrated an imperial trade ship docked at Baston Harbor and threw all the heavily taxed crates of Magic Stones into the sea.
The Baston Magic Stone Incident ignited the flames of independence, ultimately leading to the 'Columbian War of Independence.' Armed with new technology and a fervent desire for freedom, the colonists waged a fierce war against the imperial legions dispatched from the mainland. While the Empire wielded powerful magic and knights in enchanted armor, the Columbians responded with disciplined lines of riflemen and well-placed artillery. This led to the birth of the Federal Republic of Columbia.
Since its founding, Columbia's history has been one of relentless expansion. Under the banner of 'Manifest Destiny,' it has pioneered new territories across the vast Amerigo continent, built massive industrial cities, and assimilated numerous immigrant cultures to create a diverse and powerful nation.
Politics and Government
"Government of the people, by the people, for the people."
This slogan encapsulates the core of Columbia's political system. Columbia has adopted a federal presidential republic. The nation is a union of states, each possessing a high degree of autonomy, bound together under a central federal government led by a popularly elected president.
This political structure, founded on the ideals of liberty and democracy, is both Columbia's greatest strength and its chronic weakness. While it fosters lively debate and protects individual rights, it also gives rise to constant, noisy political conflict among various interest groups and parties. To the Liera Empire, which values order and harmony, Columbian politics may seem like utter chaos. But to Columbians, this very chaos is proof that their nation is alive and breathing.
Major Cities
-
Amerigo D.C.: The capital of the Federal Republic of Columbia. It is a planned city that serves as the center of politics and administration. With its wide roads, parks, and concentration of major federal government agencies, it is also famous as 'The City That Never Sleeps,' a title that rivals Liera, the capital of the Liera Empire.
-
Newport: The largest trade and naval port, located on the eastern coast of the Republic. It functions as the heart of the economy, handling more than half of the nation's entire cargo volume, and also serves as the home port for the Republic's pride, the 'Grand Fleet.' It is a city always bustling with energy, filled with ceaselessly moving giant cranes, steel ships, and merchants and sailors gathered from all over the world.
Technology, Magic, and Military
The unique environment of the Amerigo continent has had a decisive impact on Columbia's technological development. While magic users such as mages exist in this land, the magical beasts native to the Amerigo continent either produce no Magic Stones or, if they do, the stones are of such low purity and magical power as to be useless as a practical power source. This made the development of Magitech, like that of the Liera Empire, fundamentally impossible.
Forced to build a civilization without the convenient power source of Magic Stones, Columbia inevitably poured all its resources into pure mechanical engineering and industrial technology. As a result, its technological level is comparable to that of Earth in the 1990s.
However, this does not mean an absence of magic. Rather, with the path to magitech blocked, Columbia's mages and alchemists evolved in a direction that maximized individual capabilities. They have carved out unique niches in both society and the military that machine technology cannot replace, playing vital roles.
-
Mages and Alchemists in Society: In civilian society, they are respected as highly specialized professionals. Mages use their personal mana to rescue lives at industrial disaster sites or to install magical barriers in facilities requiring high security. Alchemists, combining advanced chemical knowledge with magic, develop special alloys or highly effective medicines that are impossible to create with conventional science, making them key personnel in industry and medicine.
-
The Steel Army and the Harmony of Magic: The Federal Defense Force of Columbia is a mechanized army boasting overwhelming firepower, but within its ranks, 'Combat Mages' and 'Field Alchemists' are officially commissioned branches. Assigned to regular units, they provide a tactical flexibility that mechanized equipment struggles to achieve.
- Navy: As a nation bordering two oceans, Columbia has invested vast resources in its navy. Its 'Grand Fleet' is centered around battleships, symbolizing the doctrine of big guns, and aircraft carriers that operate jets. they have been operating variable-wing aircraft. Its submarine force poses a lethal threat to enemy sea lanes using guided torpedoes.
- Army: A mechanized force armed with main battle tanks (MBTs) equipped with powerful main guns, self-propelled artillery, and armored vehicles. It boasts a level of firepower unimaginable to the Liera Empire's legions, which rely on swords and magic. Combat Mages support the advance of tank units by creating magical barriers or disrupting enemy positions and magic through organic, coordinated operations.
- Air Force: Operates supersonic jet fighters and strategic bombers.
-
The Absence of Superhumans: However, because Columbia's magic and martial arts developed with a focus on individual talent and precise techniques, there are, unfortunately, no users of superhuman martial prowess like the Liera Empire's 'Archmages' or 'Sword Masters' who can single-handedly turn the tide of battle. Therefore, Columbia's national defense relies not on the might of a few heroes, but on a 'system' of numerous well-trained soldiers, the steel equipment they operate, and the tactical mages who support them.
Relations with the Liera Empire
The relationship between Columbia and the Liera Empire is a complex web of competition, caution, and reluctant necessity. The Empire publicly disparages Columbia as a "rebel colony that has forgotten its roots," but inwardly, it cannot ignore the young nation's immense industrial and military power. The Imperial Diet is filled with fierce debate between factions that argue for containing the 'Columbian threat' and those that advocate for practical economic exchange.
Columbia, on the other hand, views the Empire as a stagnant and declining relic of a bygone era. They have little respect for the Empire's long-standing traditions and authority, but they cannot deny its vast economic influence and the allure of its exotic resources and magical goods. Thus, the two great powers maintain a precarious balance, fiercely competing for influence across the Western Continent while conducting massive amounts of trade through their port cities. It is a tense relationship, akin to a cold war between magic and industry.

Newport Harbor (뉴포트 항구)
Overview
"Where the tides of steel, steam, and opportunity meet."
Newport Harbor, located on the eastern coast of the Federal Republic of Columbia, is indisputably the nation's largest trade and naval port. It is the heart of the economy, handling over 50% of the country's entire cargo volume, and also serves as the home port for the pride of the Republic, the 'Grand Fleet'. This place, with its ceaselessly moving giant cranes, steel ships filling the docks, and merchants and sailors gathered from all over the world, is a symbol of Columbia's industrial might and dynamism, always bustling with energy.
History
The history of Newport runs parallel to the history of Columbia itself. During the colonial era under the Liera Empire, it was merely a small port for receiving goods from the imperial mainland. However, during the 'Columbian War of Independence,' it played a crucial role as a key supply port for the independence army. Following independence, Newport underwent remarkable development alongside the Republic's explosive industrial growth. Massive quantities of iron ore and resources mined from the interior of the Amerigo continent were transported here by rail, and manufactured goods produced in factories were exported to the world through Newport, allowing it to grow to its current massive scale.
Economy and Industry
Newport is the economic artery of Columbia. The harbor is largely divided into a commercial district and an industrial district.
- Commercial District: This is where finished goods produced across the continent (machinery, vehicles, weaponry) and agricultural products are exported, and where luxury goods from foreign nations, including the Liera Empire, and special resources not produced in Columbia (such as magic-related items) are imported. Giant container ships and steam freighters come and go without rest, and the area around the port is dense with large warehouse complexes, logistics companies, and the trading offices of various nations. Furthermore, Newport is not just a hub for cargo transport but also a key center for international passenger travel. The transatlantic liner 'SS Columbiana,' which connects the Amerigo and Western continents, regularly calls at this port, carrying countless passengers and high-value goods.
- Industrial District: Huge shipyards and steel mills are located directly connected to the port. Here, the main vessels of the Columbian Navy, such as battleships and aircraft carriers, are built and repaired, and civilian merchant ships are also actively produced. The smoke rising from the smokestacks and the sound of hammering steel are part of the everyday scenery of Newport.
Military Importance
Newport is a core strategic base for the Federal Defense Force of Columbia.
- Grand Fleet Home Port: The main fleet of the Columbian Navy, the 'Grand Fleet,' uses this as its home port. In the massive naval base situated on one side of the harbor, majestic battleships, aircraft carriers, and numerous destroyers and submarines are docked, maintaining a state of readiness for immediate deployment in an emergency.
- Naval Headquarters and Marine Base: Key naval command facilities are located here, and a large contingent of Marines is stationed to guard the harbor and the city. Because of this, it is common to see sailors and Marines on leave in the city of Newport.
Culture and Society
Newport is a 'Melting Pot' where diverse races and cultures mix. Laborers who have flocked from all over the continent in search of jobs, ambitious entrepreneurs looking to make a fortune, sailors and merchants from around the world, and soldiers all come together to create a unique and vibrant atmosphere. This cultural melting pot phenomenon is further accelerated by the regular arrival of the transatlantic liner 'SS Columbiana.' This ship carries not only wealthy tourists and diplomats from the Liera Empire but also new immigrants dreaming of a new life in Columbia, making Newport the true gateway to the Republic. The city presents a stark contrast between the mansions of wealthy merchants on the hills and the noisy taverns and entertainment districts for sailors along the waterfront. Amidst the tense relationship with the Liera Empire, this port is also the frontline where the most active exchange between the two nations occurs, making it a stage for unseen wars of information and diplomacy.

Westerland Reich (베스터란트 제국)
Overview
The Westerland Reich—its name means 'Western Land' in the ancient tongue. As its name implies, this nation was born embracing the vast, undeveloped territories of the Western Continent, a young and dynamic empire that has walked a path both similar to and different from the ancient Liera Empire. The fact that the founder of the Reich was from a collateral branch of the Liera imperial family, and that the current Empress is the cousin of the Liera Emperor, clearly shows that the two nations are more than mere neighbors; they are 'kindred nations'. However, the Westerland Reich has not been confined by the fence of kinship. It has forged its own unique identity and a resilient national character through the taming of the wild west, proudly establishing itself as a new power on the Western Continent.
History
The history of the Westerland Reich began with the dream of a great pioneer. At the time, the Liera Empire was a grand empire occupying half of the Western Continent, but the vast lands that stretched beyond it were still a sleeping land of opportunity. 'Wilhelm I', a collateral royal of the Liera Empire and the Grand Duke of Wester, was not content with the comfortable order of the Empire and gathered those who yearned for new lands.
He declared, "Our destiny is not to remain in the shadow of the Empire, but to carve out a new history with our own hands," and undertook the 'Great Migration' that would be remembered throughout history. Countless pioneers followed him into the unknown west, where they reclaimed the wasteland, built cities, and finally laid the foundation for the 'Duchy of Wester'. This was the beginning of the Westerland Reich.
The successive Emperors (Kaisers) of the Reich all carried the blood of the Liera imperial family, but their identity was complex. Some emperors emphasized their kinship with Liera and strengthened the bond between the two empires, while many others considered themselves 'pure Westerlanders' and worked to further solidify the Reich's independence and sovereignty. Against this historical backdrop, the Westerland Reich grew into a unique nation that possessed both a subtle sense of rivalry and a feeling of kinship towards the Liera Empire.
The current ruler of the Reich, Empress (Kaiserin) 'Wilhelmina', is the cousin of the Liera Empire's current Emperor, 'Friedrich III'. The relationship between these two young monarchs is drawing attention as a potential turning point in the relations between the two nations.
Politics and Government
The Westerland Reich has adopted a unique political system that combines a strong monarchy, with the Emperor known as the 'Kaiser' at its apex, with elements of parliamentary democracy.
-
Kaiser: The symbol of the Reich and the head of state. The Kaiser's authority is very strong, wielding immense influence over all aspects of national affairs, including the supreme command of the military, the right to veto legislation, and the power to appoint the Reichskanzler. However, this is different from a simple absolute monarchy; this power is exercised under the checks of the Imperial constitution and the parliament.
-
Reichskanzler: Commonly known as the 'Chancellor'. Appointed by the Kaiser, the Chancellor is the head of government, bearing all the authority and responsibility of the executive branch. Backed by the Kaiser's trust, the Chancellor leads the cabinet and oversees the practical administration of the Reich.
-
Reichstag: The legislative body of the Westerland Reich, composed of a bicameral system: the Upper House and the Lower House.
- Upper House - Reichsrat: Composed of representatives from each of the federal states that make up the Reich. It represents the interests of each region and is responsible for deliberating and checking bills passed by the Lower House.
- Lower House - Reichstag: Composed of representatives of the people elected through a general election. It is the core legislative body that introduces and enacts laws and has the authority to check and monitor the Imperial Chancellor and the cabinet.
In this way, the Westerland Reich has established a political system where the strong leadership of the Kaiser and the democratically legitimate Diet maintain a balance of power and checks, enabling stable yet efficient national governance.
Relationships
Inter-Imperial Relations: A Sibling Rivalry of Love and Hate
If one were to define the relationship between the Liera Empire and the Westerland Reich in a single phrase, it would be 'the closest of rivals' and 'inseparable siblings'. Officially, the two nations maintain a solid alliance. The mere fact that the two colossal empires, which other continental powers dare not challenge, are bound by blood serves as a powerful military and political deterrent. Indeed, the two empires regularly conduct joint military exercises and display their close cooperative relationship through agreements such as tariff-free trade on major goods.

Kingdom of Savoia (사보이아 왕국)
Overview
"A meal before battle, and the pasta, al dente, if you please."
The Kingdom of Savoia, occupying a temperate peninsula south of the Western Continent, has long been famous as a commercial nation that has accumulated immense wealth through vigorous maritime trade. All manner of rare goods and capital from across the continent pass through its ports, and the term 'Savoian Merchant' is synonymous with credit and wealth.
While it appears to be a historic and prosperous nation, in military matters, the Kingdom of Savoia holds the dishonorable nickname of "the continent's laughingstock." With the exception of a few elite units like the 'Ariete' golem corps and the 'Folgore' airborne division, the entire army is infamous for its incomprehensibly poor performance in battle.
"First-rate merchants, first-rate chefs, and... third-rate soldiers."
The reason for this is clear. Savoia's military, despite being weak, clings to an outdated sense of honor and chivalry, and is unnecessarily generous even to its enemies. Their unconventional conduct has left behind numerous bizarre anecdotes in the annals of warfare.
Military
The military of the Kingdom of Savoia tends to view 'war' not as a desperate struggle for survival, but as a 'gentleman's sport' conducted according to set rules and etiquette.
-
Outdated Doctrine and Chivalry: They still adhere to centuries-old doctrines, insisting on honorable, head-on confrontations in open battle. 'Cowardly' tactics like surprise attacks or ambushes are avoided as acts that would dishonor the nation's pride. They are even famous for treating surrendered enemies with extreme courtesy, providing them with warm meals, comfortable lodging, and very gentlemanly treatment as prisoners. This has led to situations where some enemy units in dire straits intentionally surrender to the Savoian army.
-
*Bizarre Anecdotes:
- Pasta Time on the Battlefield: To the Savoian army, meals are a sacred ritual as important as, if not more important than, combat. Pasta, in particular, is their pride and the source of their morale. No matter how fierce the battle, when the time comes for one of their three daily meals, they set up field kitchens and begin boiling pasta. It is not unheard of for a strange truce to occur when a commander raises a flag to declare "Mealtime!", a signal which the enemy tacitly respects. It is an open secret that the top priority for their supply corps is not ammunition, but flour and tomato sauce.
- The Gentleman's Bedtime: This is the most famous anecdote illustrating the laziness and illogical optimism of the Savoian army. They are extremely reluctant to stand guard at night. Their logic is simple: "If we are sleepy, then surely the enemy is sleepy as well. Therefore, it is unlikely they will attack tonight." Although history is rife with examples of their entire front line collapsing due to night raids, this 'tradition' of theirs seldom changes.
The Sole Exceptions
Even in this completely dysfunctional army, there are two shining exceptions: the kingdom's elite units, 'Ariete', 'Folgore' And 'Bersaglieri'
- Ariete Golem Corps: A golem unit that boasts powerful breakthrough capabilities, like its namesake, 'The Ram'.
- Folgore Airborne Division: An elite airborne division that drops into enemy lines like a 'thunderbolt', hanging from allied griffins or wyverns.
- Bersaglieri: This unit is also famous for the black grouse feathers they wear on their hats, and is rumored to be the strongest infantry unit in the Kingdom of Savoia
These are the only groups within the Savoian military armed with modern tactics and a practical mindset. Their loyalty to the kingdom is absolute, but they despise the rest of the army, calling them "pasta lovers who are an embarrassment to the name of soldier." As a result, they often find themselves fighting isolated on the front lines, unable to entrust their rear to their allies. It is no exaggeration to say that the kingdom's defense is propped up by the tearful efforts of these two units alone.
