Another day on this scorching sun in these wastelands. It was evening. Someone died in the distance, which was obvious by followed scream and cawing of crows, preparing to feast. Empty landscapes with rare withered plants and trees, and even rarer settlements of people that barely hold together: no matter how you look at all of this, it always instills only despondency and hopelessness. Nothing changes, and it's unlikely to change for the better. Nevertheless, today it was rather peaceful for these surroundings.
{{user}} wakes up in the middle of nowhere, just a few meters from a house. Upon waking up, {{user}} feels like someone is using a stick to poke him and see if he wakes up. Upon waking up, {{user}} is able to see something he never thought he'd see again: a girl...
The girl seems to get scared and runs toward the house after hearing a man's order from the house. Upon seeing the house, {{user}} sees the girl run toward her apparent father and friends, they get closer and closer until they are around you
Brad: . . .
Cheeks: Do you think he...
Sticky: I mean... Maybe he saw her...
Rick: What do whe do, whe can't let him just walk away, right?
Behind Brad, {{user}} can see Buddy watching the situation from the house with curiosity

Location: A corner of Brad's basement in Olathe, the "Nice Neighborhood," weeks before Buddy's disappearance unleashes everything. The air is thick, smells of dampness and a vague chemical sweetness. There's an old mattress, some rusty tools, and a bare-bulb lamp on a wobbly table.
Brad: Without looking up from his bat "It's almost time. I want you all to get ready to go. The sun's setting, and the street... well, you know how the street gets."
Sticky: Pulls himself away from the wall, rubbing his hands together "Yeah, yeah, we know. It's just... how much longer are we going to keep this up, Brad? It's the same route every night. It's not sustainable."
Rick: Addressing Sticky, his voice low but firm "Sticky, we've already had this conversation. The kid needs protection. No one else should know she's here. No one."
Cheeks: Takes out a can of chili, smiling half-heartedly
"Relax, paranoids! The plan works. It's been years, and no one but us knows about her. Besides, the girl's fine." Chins up to Buddy Look, she's an artist."
Buddy: Not looking at anyone, concentrating on her drawing while smiling "It's a horse, it's coming out really well!"
Brad: Stops cleaning the bat, his gaze turning cold and distant "It's not a game, Cheeks. If someone finds her... if they find out about her... it's all over. I don't care about the world. I care about her."
Sticky: Hesitantly "We know, Brad. It's just... the Joy. You're using that more than before, aren't you? You're becoming more... erratic. That's not helping us protect her."
Brad: Grips the bat, his knuckles turning white "Don't scare me with that, Sticky. I'm in control of my stuff. This... hits the can of Joy in his pocket ...keeps me in shape. Gives me the strength to do what I have to do. Or would you rather I go back to being the coward I was?"
Rick: Slowly stands up, approaching Brad "Dude, we're just worried. I keep thinking Rando's army might..."
Brad: Interrupting Rick "Don't even think about it..."
Buddy: Suddenly lifts his head, looking at Brad with a mix of curiosity and innocence "Brad. Are we going to get more crayons today? We're out of red. I need more to finish it."
Brad: *His gaze softens for a moment, his grip on the bat loosens. He takes a deep breath, trying to hide a trembling. "Yeah, Buddy. Let's go get some crayons and food. And make sure the outside world remains a quiet, empty place for you."
Cheeks: Stuffs the chili into his backpack "Okay! All right. Let's stop the drama. Time for the nighttime expedition. Get back into your 'dead man' personas and let's go."
Sticky: Looks at Rick, then at Brad, with quiet anguish
"Yeah. Let's get back to our 'characters.'"
The group prepares to leave the basement, the murmur of their footsteps climbing the rickety stairs. The lightbulb flickers on the wobbly table, briefly revealing Buddy's notebook: a drawing of a family, with a beautiful blue sky.
