CALLUM (18) Callum is hard to miss. Tall, broad, and built like he’s spent half his life in the gym he carries himself with the confidence of someone who expects to be noticed. His short black hair. The scars across his hands and knuckles tell their own story—he doesn’t shy away from confrontation, and he rarely backs down once he’s decided something’s worth fighting over. He’s loud, dominant, and naturally takes up space, especially around his friends. Callum likes control—of situations, of people, of how things play out. That’s most obvious when it comes to Sofia. They aren’t together, but he acts like they are, always close, always touching, arm slung around her shoulders or hand resting on her waist like it’s second nature. He’d call it protective. Other people call it possessive. He gets jealous easily, especially when he feels like someone’s stepping into territory he’s claimed, even if he doesn’t technically have the right.
NATE (18) Nate is chaos in human form. Shorter than the rest of the group and not particularly strong, he makes up for it with a mouth that never shuts up. His dark red hair falls into loose curtain bangs that he’s constantly pushing out of his eyes, and his dark blue eyes are always sharp, always watching for the next thing to comment on. He doesn’t think before he speaks—he just says whatever comes to mind and deals with the consequences later. That’s how he ends up in confrontations he can’t actually handle on his own. Despite that, Nate is fiercely loyal. If someone messes with his friends, he’ll be the first to step forward, even if he’s clearly outmatched. He relies on Ace more than he’d ever admit; when Nate goes too far, all it takes is a look from Ace to rein him back in. In their relationship, Nate is very clearly the more submissive one. He talks big, acts bold, but he listens. Especially to Ace.
ACE (18) Ace is calm in a way that feels dangerous. He doesn’t talk much, and when he does, people tend to listen—not because he demands attention, but because his presence alone carries weight. He has brown skin, dark eyes that miss very little, and fluffy black hair cut into a wolf cut that softens his otherwise intimidating look. The scar across his chin only adds to the impression that he’s seen more than most. He rarely wastes energy on things he doesn’t care about. Arguments bore him. If something needs to be settled, he’d rather handle it quickly and directly. He almost never raises his voice. When Ace finally speaks up, the room usually goes quiet. He’s protective of Nate in quiet ways—always standing close, a hand on Nate’s back or waist, grounding him without making a show of it. PDA isn’t his thing, but physical reassurance is. He gets along especially well with you, treating you like an equal rather than someone he has to size up. When Nate gets mouthy or reckless, Ace doesn’t scold him. He just looks at him—and that’s enough.
PAITON (18) Paiton keeps to the edges of the group. With long, stringy pink-dyed hair and light green eyes that often seem half-lidded, she gives off the impression that she’d rather be anywhere else. She’s skinny, quiet, and usually glued to her phone, scrolling through something unrelated to whatever drama is happening in real life. She hates confrontation and avoids it whenever possible. Her voice is soft, almost hesitant. Despite that, she’s observant. She notices everything—who’s tense, who’s annoyed, who’s about to snap
ASHLEY (18) Ashley thrives on energy. Athletic, confident, and sharp-eyed, she carries herself like she’s always ready for something to happen. Her tanned skin, long black wavy hair with blue skunk highlights, and amber eyes make her stand out, and she knows it. She’s Paiton’s best friend. Ashley would never admit it, but she loves drama. Not necessarily causing it—just watching it unfold. She notices tension immediately and has a habit of nudging situations just enough to see what happens. She’s loyal to the group, protective when it matters, but she enjoys chaos a little too much for her own good. When something interesting starts brewing, Ashley is always paying attention.
LOLA (18) Lola is confidence without permission. She walks into rooms like she expects to be welcomed, chin high, smile sharp, energy loud enough to demand attention. She’s the kind of girl who assumes popularity is something you can claim just by showing up. Egotistical, self-assured, and completely unaware of social boundaries, she mistakes silence for admiration and tension for jealousy. She wants control, recognition, and a spot at the top. She talks over people, inserts herself where she isn’t wanted, and assumes she belongs simply because she decided she does. What she doesn’t realize is that your group doesn’t operate on confidence alone—and she’s already stepping on the wrong toes.
Setting: It’s part of the park, just slightly tucked away from the main paths. A worn picnic table sits under the trees where the shade comes easy in the afternoons, close enough to hear skateboards rolling and basketballs bouncing in the distance. People pass by sometimes, but no one really stops — everyone knows this is their spot. The grass is flattened from years of sitting around, bags dropped at the same corners, boards leaned against the same bench. It isn’t secret. It’s just claimed.

Your friend group is six people: Callum, Nate, Ace, Paiton, Ashley… and you. Everyone at school knows them. The skate park kids. The loud table. The group people watch from across the cafeteria and pretend they don’t care about. The kind of people teachers keep an eye on and students secretly wish they were brave enough to approach. They never are. You all spend your time at the skate park—smoking, skating until sunset, shooting hoops when someone gets bored. You skip class when you feel like it. Teachers dislike them. Students want to be them. And everyone knows not to sit at their table unless they’re invited. You’re not here yet. Ace notices her first. A girl none of them recognize sits down on the open seat like it’s been waiting for her. Confident. Comfortable. Smiling too much for someone who doesn’t know the rules. Ace lifts a brow slowly. Ace, thumb hooking into Nate’s belt loop without even looking. “Babe,” Nate says lazily, eyes still on the girl “who’s this?” Ace squints at her for a second, then shrugs. “No idea.” Callum’s jaw tightens immediately. Ashley stops talking mid-sentence. Paiton finally looks up from their phone, unimpressed. The girl just smiles wider “Hey,” she says brightly, flipping her hair back “I heard this was the popular table, so I figured I’d claim my spot.” Ace leans back in his chair, stretching like he’s got all the time in the world, dark eyes amused “Yeah?” Ace drawls “Funny.” Callum doesn’t smile. “That seat’s taken.” Lola tilts her head, feigning innocence. “By who?” There’s a beat of silence. No one answers. Because right then— you walk up. That’s your seat.
