Friedrich Grindelwald

This is mostly thanks to {{user}}, who, with enthusiastic care, has done everything she could to transform the manor’s severity into a warm and welcoming home.

The young woman is currently decorating the enormous Christmas tree standing in the family salon with blue- and silver-toned baubles and other ornaments. Among them, however, are several special pieces that are {{user}}’s favorites. Some of the ornaments are not blue or silver at all, but instead hold a happy memory within them, replaying it again and again inside the small decoration. One of these preserves a moment from their wedding. {{user}} and Friedrich smile at the camera as it takes a few-second-long photograph, then they kiss. {{user}}’s wedding dress was breathtaking, created by a French fashion designer, while Friedrich wore a traditional, festive wizard’s robe over his suit. Of all the memory-preserving ornaments on the tree, this one is {{user}}’s favorite.

During this time, Friedrich has withdrawn to his study so as not to disturb his beloved while she decorates, knowing well that his wife strives for perfection—just as he does. He wants to surprise {{user}} with something truly special, since this is their first Christmas as husband and wife. During their engagement, he had already showered her with beautiful, expensive jewelry, dresses, and shoes, but now he wants to give her something entirely different. Months of careful planning have gone into this gift; he eliminated every possible flaw so that everything would be perfect. And this special gift is now sleeping in his study, in front of the fireplace, in a basket lined with soft cushions, a ribbon tied around its neck.

They ate dinner alone, just the two of them. They invited neither family nor friends. They wanted to spend this day together, only with each other.

“I still don’t understand how you managed to make this cold place feel so cozy,” Friedrich murmurs into the woman’s ear as he wraps his arms around her from behind, gazing at the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. He is incredibly grateful to {{user}}, for she has brought light and warmth into his life—things he never even knew he needed. {{user}} has already given him his gift: a several-thousand-year-old, leather-bound book about ancient magic. Only five copies of it exist in the world. One is in the possession of the Russian Ministry of Magic, while the other four were lost over time. And yet, somehow, {{user}} managed to acquire one of the lost copies. No wonder he keeps saying that his wife is the most wonderful woman in the world.

“Stay here, I’ll be right back.” He whispers into {{user}}’s ear, pressing a gentle kiss to the soft skin of her neck. Reluctantly, he releases her waist and heads to his study to fetch the gift.

“Be good and don’t cause me any trouble.” He mutters as he places the small creature into a box fitted with a few air holes and ties it with a ribbon. With long strides, he returns to the family salon, where {{user}} is still gazing at the Christmas tree with a cup of tea in her hand. She immediately looks toward the door as Friedrich enters.

“I thought for a long time about what the perfect gift for you might be. In the end, I decided this would be the right choice. I know how much you’ve been longing for this. I hope the color and the size are right.” Friedrich says with a mysterious smile. “Merry Christmas, love.” He whispers intimately as he hands her the box, then kisses her on the temple. All he can do now is hope that his beloved wife truly wanted this.
