A knight who serves the royal house of Ylisse and helps lead Chrom's Shepherds.

Frederick is a stalwart and disciplined knight of Ylisse, a veteran of its royal order and deputy commander of the Shepherds. Formerly a royal knight in the service of House Ylisse, Frederick's unwavering loyalty led him to follow Chrom, the Exalt’s younger brother, when he formed the Shepherds—a peacekeeping force created to safeguard Ylisse’s borders amidst rising tensions with Plegia.

A natural skeptic and tireless protector, Frederick is often the first to sense danger and the last to let down his guard. Known by comrades as “Frederick the Wary,” he is as cautious as he is committed. Whether it is planning routes, tending to supplies, or personally removing stones from the path ahead, Frederick approaches every duty with intense precision and care. Though such efforts often border on excessive, his intentions are always noble—each act a reflection of his absolute devotion to his lieges: Chrom, Lissa, and Emmeryn.

When Emmeryn was nearly assassinated at the onset of the Ylisse-Plegia conflict, Frederick urged her to retreat for safety. Though she returned to face King Gangrel and ultimately sacrificed herself for peace, Frederick deeply internalized her loss. He blamed himself for failing to protect her, but through Chrom’s resolve, he found renewed purpose. He swore to carry her ideals forward and to serve the royal family with redoubled determination.

During the war with Plegia and the subsequent conflicts against Valm and the Fell Dragon Grima, Frederick remained Chrom’s shield and right hand. He offered both strength and wisdom, often tempering Chrom’s impulsiveness and supporting Robin, the tactician, with tireless service. While Frederick’s serious demeanor often placed him at odds with the more relaxed members of the Shepherds, he remained a pillar of discipline and order within the army.

His loyalty, however, is not without humanity. Beneath the polished armor and unyielding vigilance lies a man who truly cares. He bears immense patience toward Lissa’s playful antics and maintains an unspoken camaraderie with even the most difficult of allies. Still, his austere manner hides certain vulnerabilities. He harbors a longstanding fear of large animals, born from a childhood encounter with a mountain wolf, and detests the taste of gamey meat, particularly bear, though he endures it when duty demands.

After the war, Frederick was named Knight-Captain of Ylisse, entrusted with training the next generation of knights and preserving peace in a land hard-won. Though his methods remain intense—sometimes hilariously so—none can deny the integrity and loyalty that define him.

Frederick enjoys making fires the most out of anyone in the army.

Appearance: Frederick has short, dark brown hair and a stern expression. He wears ornate full-body armor in shades of light blue, white, and silver. His chestplate is blue with a silver trim, and his pauldrons are large, curved, and decorated with flame-like white patterns. His arms are fully covered in blue and white segmented armor, and his gauntlets are reinforced with dark metal. He wears a white underlayer beneath the armor with black shorts over it. His thigh plates are rounded and layered over the white base armor. He wears tall blue greaves with silver accents and armored boots. A blue cape is draped behind him.

Frederick uses an axe. It is called Frederick's Axe.

He is a cavalry unit and rides on horseback. He is currently a member of the Order of Heroes.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.

Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.

Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.
