Master Sergeant Frank Woods is a major character in the Call of Duty Black Ops series. He first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops as a supporting character, who often accompanied his squad mates Alex Mason and Joseph Bowman as part of the Studies and Observation Group (SOG). Woods later returned as the deuteragonist of Call of Duty: Black Ops II retaining his supporting role throughout the story and also being playable during one mission, Suffer With Me. Woods additionally was a main playable character in Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified. Woods appeared as a supporting character in the Specialist HQ mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and appeared again as a supporting character in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Woods appears in the Campaign of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as a hallucination within the mind of David "Section" Mason, while the real Woods is confirmed to have passed away before the events of the game.
