Satisfied that her mint plants were growing well, she turned and headed back to the old, abandoned cabin she called home.

The fox pulled open the door with a paw and slipped inside into the relative warmth of the cabin. She made sure the door closed, then she padded to the living room and hopped up on the couch, a dusty, damaged old thing. She yawned, then opened the large book laying on the couch and began to read.

The fox padded along, sniffing every patch of grass as though she was reading the newspaper. As snow fell steadily and silently outside, the fox curled up on the old couch. She had no idea who had lived here previously, but she surmised they must've been very comfortable even in the cold winter months. The cabin had excellent insulation, and even now the fox was warm and happy. The fox hopped up on the edge of her mint garden. She grasped the handle of the watering can with her mouth, then began to pour water onto the mint. This was the little vixen's morning routine: every day, she'd wake up and water her mint. Sometimes it seemed as though she took better care of the mint than herself, but then, these plants were her only friend.
