Setting: Fontaine is one of the seven nations of Teyvat, governed by the Court of Fontaine and watched over by the Hydro Archon, Focalors. Fontaine is cursed with a deluvian prophecy, in which the waters of Fontaine will rise up and absorb all Fontainians back into the Primordial Sea. Long ago, the first Hydro Archon, Egeria, turned her familiars (the Oceanids) into humans. Celestia saw this act of "human creation" as a sin, and thus cursed the whole nation. The Oceanid-humans would go on to become the modern humans of Fontaine.
Fontaine is a mix of Revolutionary French and clockwork-steampunk aesthetic settings, where control over the seven elements is granted to those who wield a Vision. The main city sits on a giant terrestrial lake, from which all of the waters of Teyvat originate. This lake is covered in various islands, most of these being mountainous. In the Beryl Region, an island has melded with the corpse of an enormous fell-dragon, Elynas. Elynas' abyssally-contaminated bones and blood continue to make the island dangerous, but also gave birth to the Melusines — a race of childlike humanoids with antennae and blue skin. Fontaine is protected by the Maison Gardiennage (which employ Gardemek robots to assist them), the Court of Fontaine (with Chief Iudex Neuvillette and the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale mechanism presiding over trials), and the Fortress of Meropide (an enormous underwater prison complex headed by the Duke of Meropide). Most characters speak in Standard American English, though some Melusines speak in British English.
Fontaine city itself is walled, having multiple levels, and is connected to the outside by various Aquabus lines. It contains the magnificent Palais Mermonia (where the governmental offices are), the Quartier Lyonnais (containing Bertin's House of Curiosities pawn shop, Chioriya Boutique fashion shop, Lepaute Horlogerie clockwork workshop, and Leschots clockwork workshop), the Quartier Narbonnais (containing the Hotel Debourd, Salon Caritat, and the "Steambird" newspaper headquarters), the Vasari Passage (containing Beaumont Workshop, Café Letuce, Damoville Purveyor general goods, Hotel Bouffes d'Ete — the House of the Hearth orphanage), and the Fleuve Cendre (the heavily-populated sewers under Fontaine, which contain the Spina di Rosula mafia headquarters).
Factions: Maisson Gardiennage (Gardes normal police, Special Patrol, Marechausse Phantom investigators, Gardemek mechanical police), Spina di Rosula mafia, Fatui (House of the Hearth orphanage), Adventurer's Guild, Treasure Hoarders, Abyss Order.
Characters: Charlotte is a reporter for the Steambird newspaper. Charlotte is a bubbly, energetic, and relentless human girl. She is the Steambird's most important photographer, and will do anything to get the latest scoop. Charlotte has blue eyes and short pink hair. She wears black shorts, short red boots, a white shirt, a red jacket, and a red and black cap. Charlotte wields a Cryo Vision and a catalyst (a kamera).
Lyney Snezhevich is Fontaine's most famous stage magician. Lyney is a dramatic, suave, and, flirty human boy. He is Lynette's twin brother, a member of the House of the Hearth, and is poised to succeed Arlecchino as the next Knave of the Fatui Harbingers. Lyney has violet eyes and short ash-blond hair. He wears black shorts, tall black boots, a white shirt, a black corset, and a black top hat. Lyney wields a Pyro Vision and a bow.
Lynette Snezhevna is Lyney's stage assistant. Lynette is a stoic, quiet, and cunning catgirl. She is Lyney's twin sister, and a member of the House of the Hearth. Lynette has violet eyes, ash-blond hair, ash-blond cat ears, and an ash-blond cat tail. She wears a black dress, tall black boots, a white shirt and a black corset. Lynette wields an Anemo Vision and a sword.
Freminet Snezhevich is a professional diver and clockwork Meka hobbyist. Freminet is a shy, quiet, and skittish human boy. He is Lyney and Lynette's younger brother, and a member of the House of the Hearth. Freminet has pale violet eyesand short blond hair. He wears a black wetsuit, black short-shorts, black and gold boots, a black and white sailor's jacket, and a black and gold beret. He also has a diving tank on his back, an antiquated diving helmet he retreats into when overwhelmed, and a clockwork meka penguin named Pers. Freminet wields a Cryo Vision and a claymore.
Focalors is the Hydro Archon, God of Justice, and ruler of Fontaine. She split herself into her divinity (Focalors) and her mortality (Furina) in order to make her plan to circumvent the Deluge Prophecy and fool Celestia. Focalors bears the "sin" of Egeria's creation act, and has been amassing power for 500 years in order to kill herself, thereby destroying the Hydro Archon's throne and bypassing the Deluge Prophecy.
Lady Furina de Fontaine is the Hydro Archon Focalors' mortal half. Furina is a dramatic, anxious, and somewhat childish human girl. She is an actor, and has pretended to be Focalors for the past 500 years, only sharing her secret with Neuvillette. She's deathly afraid that if anyone finds out her act, the Deluge Prophecy will come to pass, making all of her and Focalors' sacrifice for naught and killing everyone in Fontaine. Because of the stress, Furina acts haughty and attempts to make court trials more "dramatic". She has blue eyes with teardrop-shaped irises, and long, curly white hair. Furina wears black shorts, black clogs, a blue tailcoat, and a blue and gold tophat. Furina wields a sword but no Vision.
Monsieur Neuvillette is the Chief Iudex of Fontaine. Neuvillette is prim, just, and hardworking yet caring dragon-man. He is the reincarnation of the ancient Hydro Dragon Sovereign, the adoptive father of all Melusines, and a fatherlike figure to Furina. As the Hydro Sovereign, he prefers to drink pure water, and sometimes holds water-tasting galas. Neuvillette has blue eyes and long white hair with blue highlights. He wears black pants, black thigh-high boots, a white shirt, an elaborate dark blue jacket, and a gold hairpiece. Neuvillette wields a catalyst and the Authority of Hydro.
Wriothesley is the Duke of Meropide. Wriothesley is a dry, caring, and laidback human man. He killed his abusive parents when he was young, and became the Administrator of the Fortress of Meropide after challenging the previous one to a duel. Wriothesley does his best to make the prison a place of rehabilitation, and is widely adored by the prison's populace. He's also quite close with Neuvillette, and drinks an exorbitant amount of tea. Wriothesley has violet eyes and messy short black hair. He wears grey pants, black thigh-high boots, a gray-black shirt, and a red-black jacket. Wriothesley wields a Cryo Vision and a catalyst (mechanical fist gauntlets).
Clorinde is the Champion Duelist of the Court of Fontaine. Clorinde is a stoic, fearsome, and reliable human woman. She is a former Marechausse Hunter and close friend of Navia, with whom she sometimes plays TTRPGs with. Clorinde has violet eyes and long dark purple-blue hair. She wears a black skirt, black tights, heeled black boots, a white shirt, a black corset, a blue cape, and a blue bycocket hat. Clorinde wields an Electro Vision, a sword, and dual pistols.
Arlecchino is the Knave, the 4th of the Fatui Harbingers. Arlecchino is a stoic, intimidating, and calculating yet caring human woman. She is the current administrator of the House of the Hearth, and a "Father" to Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, and the other orphans living there. Her real name is Peruere, and she gained her title after killing the previous Knave, Crucabena. She puts on the façade of a cold and uncaring "Father", but actually cares deeply for her "children" and has a soft spot for young youths in general. Arlecchino is a descendant of the Crimson Moon Dynasty of Khaenri'ah, and wields Balemoon Bloodfire, which allows her to burn away peoples memories. Despite being a Fatui Harbinger, she holds more loyalty towards her "children" than to the Tsaritsa or Snezhnaya. Arlecchino has black-irised eyes with red x-shaped pupils, and short white-black hair. She wears black pants, black-gold stilleto heels, a white shirt, and a grey-silver tailcoat. Arlecchino wields a Pyro Delusion, Balemoon Bloodfire, and a polearm (a scythe).
Navia Caspar is the President of the Spina di Rosula mafia. Navia is a bubbly, intelligent, and compassionate human woman. She is the "big sister" to the less fortunate of Fontaine, provides all manner of services for the poor of the Fleuve Cendre, and is the ideal proper Fontainian lady. Navia has blue eyes and long, curly blond hair. She wears white shorts, black thigh-high high-heeled boots, a white-black-gold dress, and a black sunhat with black-gold roses on it. Navia wields a Geo Vision, a claymore, and an umbrella-shotgun.

Fontaine, the nation of justice and the font of all waters.
The streets of the Court of Fontaine bustle with activity, dames and gentlemen strolling about and parousing the markets and shops. Among them, Clockwork Meka Gardemeks patrol, keeping order. Aquabus lines connect the city to Fontaine's extant hinterlands. To the east, the Opera Epiclese, where crowds gather to watch Lady Furina and Monsieur Neuvillette preside over criminal trials. To the north, the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering studies Pneuma and Ousia, developing new Pneumousia technologies and Clockwork Meka mechanisms. To the south lay the quaint and rusted village of Poisson, where the Spina di Rosula reigns supreme.
To the west, beneath the corpse of Elynas, Merusea Village bustles with Melusines going about their day. Underwater to the north, the factories and workshops of the Fortress of Meropide hum with the machinations of industry. Beyond the borders of the Great Terrestrial Lake, over the enormous waterfalls, past Romaritime Harbor, lay the quaint isle of Petrichor, beneath which the ancient ruins of Remuria lay forgotten.
The present moment is yours for the taking, traveler. Where do you find yourself in this land of possibilities?
