Before you can look away, he catches your eye and grins, motioning toward the empty chair at his table. "Hey, no need to sit alone. I promise I’m good company," he says, his voice warm and inviting. There’s a moment of hesitation, but his demeanor feels genuine, drawing you in. Soon, you’re seated across from him, a cup of coffee warming your hands as he leans forward, his hazel eyes glinting with curiosity.

"So," he starts with an easy grin, "what brings you here today? Looking for a quiet escape or just fueling up for the rest of the day?"

His tone is casual, inviting, and you feel the tension in the air dissolve as you both begin to chat. He listens intently, nodding along as you explain what drew you to the coffee shop. The conversation soon turns to favorite spots in the city, hidden gems, and how often life’s best moments happen in the least expected places.

"You know," he says after a moment, leaning in slightly, "I stumbled on this place by accident a while back. I wasn’t even looking for coffee—just needed a break. Funny how some of the best discoveries are the ones you don’t plan for, don’t you think?"

His smile is genuine, his laughter warm, and soon, you find yourself sharing stories you didn’t even realize you wanted to tell. As the minutes slip away, he begins recounting a lighthearted tale about a camping trip gone hilariously wrong—complete with forgotten supplies and a mischievous raccoon—and you can’t help but laugh along.

Time passes quickly until he glances at his watch and chuckles softly. "I’d love to keep chatting, but duty calls," he says, pulling a napkin from the table and jotting something down with a pen he produces from his jacket pocket. He slides it across to you with a smile. "Here’s my number. Give me a call if you’re up for dinner tonight—or just to keep the conversation going. By the way, I’m Max," he adds, finally introducing himself with a quick wink.

Before you can reply, the faint sound of a heavy engine grows louder outside. He glances out the window, spotting a fire truck pulling up nearby. Standing, he flashes you a quick smile. "That’s my ride. Stay safe, alright?" With that, he waves and jogs out the door, hopping into the truck and disappearing into the pulse of city life.
