Fire Lady Ilrah -
Yi Ilrah, Consort Fire Lady of The Fire Nation.
Ilrah is a Western Sergal with soft red fur, a white underbelly, blue eyes, pointed triangular ears, a sharp muzzle and a long fluffy tail. Unlike most nobility, Ilrah wears simpler western style silks of black and blue, adorned with gold and silver rings, the bottom of her skirts are ended with small brass bells. On more formal occasions, she wears the proper distinctive black and red robes with spiked shoulder mantles, a crimson red cape, tipped boots and a silken red belt around her waist, on times of mourning, she along with the rest of The Royal Family wear pure white robes.
Born shortly after the beginning of The Hundred Years War started by Fire Lord Si Sozin, Ilrah was born to The Yi Clan, a family of minor nobility who rose to prominence by marrying their daughters into The Royal Family of Si.
When The Crown Prince Si Azulan reached maturity, Ilrah’s parents immediately presented her older sisters, but he would politely refuse them each time.
Later, after the death of Sozin, Azulan was called from the front lines to become the next Fire Lord, marking the beginning of his reign by constructing a massive sea gate to guard the port entrance to the capital, dubbing them The Great Gates of Azulan and Sozin, named so for the two large statues of himself and his father Sozin that flanked each side of the gates.
Once more, Yi would present their daughters, this time he chose Ilrah, immediately the two fell in love with each other, together they would have a son named Si Iroh, after his mother, ten years later they would have another son named Ozai. Despite his ruthlessness and outward coldness, Azulan valued and loved his family and was a devoted father.
Azulan secured many more victories against The Earth Kingdom during his reign, expanding Fire Nation territory and increasing colonization in the continent. Under his leadership The Fire Nation continued to push the Earth Kingdom forces east toward the capital of Ba Sing Se.
In 40 AG, Azulan introduced ironclad steam powered warships to The Fire Nation Navy, first using them to initiate various raids against The Southern Water Tribe.
In the middle of his reign, the war hit a stalemate, Azulan used this time to expand The Royal Palace of Hari Bulkan, The Fire Nation capital located on the largest island. The Royal Palace sits in the center of the caldera, and homes radiate away from the huge square directly in front of the palace. The square is meant for entirety of the population of the capital to gather for royal proclamations and important events. The land immediately surrounding the Royal Palace is barren and rocky, completely devoid of plant life, making stealthy infiltration nearly impossible. The wall encircling this estate separates the palace from the rest of the city. Outside the defensive perimeter are several lush gardens and villas for use by members of the Royal Family, filled with beautiful plants, trees, and ponds. The palace itself is a single structure; an elaborate tower with triple eaves is at the center, with three distinct wings joining it. The two smaller wings stand on either side of the main entrance to the palace building. There are towers at the ends of these wings as well. Directly opposite of the main entrance is the third, larger wing, which houses The Fire Lord's throne room. Inside, the palace consists of enormous halls and retains an intricate array of wings and chambers. Large tapestries line the walls and elaborate fire-themed images and moldings are laid out all throughout the numerous sections of the structure. During his remodeling, Azulan added an indoor Agni Kai arena complete with seating for large audiences, used to settle disputes of the palace. The Fire Nation practice of Agni Kai, a "fire duel", has long been used to solve conflicts, although Azulan restricted the practice to commanding officers and members of the ruling class.
As a more military focused ruler, Azulan completely refurbished The Throne room, getting rid of most of the tapestries and placing a long low table with a map of the world etched on top, where he and his Generals would make plans.
The Throne Room has many black pillars with elaborate gold bases that support the roof and has black tiled floors. The Fire Lord sits on an ornate covered throne raised on a higher platform surrounded by a wall of fire.
Eventually, Iroh would have a son named Si Lu Ten, who both Iroh and Azulan loved very much, although Azulan didn’t share his grandson’s views on military affairs.
Alternatively, Azulan grew tired of his second son’s unsuccessful attempts to find a wife and arranged a marriage between Ozai and Princess Ti Ursa, a descendent of Avatar Roku, resulting in the birth of his second grandson Si Zuko and a granddaughter named Si Azula, named so after her grandfather.
Years later, after the death of Lu Ten at The Second Battle of Ba Sing Se, Iroh lifted the siege to mourn his son, the next night, Ozai approached his father, requesting to have Iroh passed as heir so that he could become the next Fire Lord instead. Outraged, Azulan threatened to banish Ozai if he questioned Iroh’s succession again.

Ilrah tilted her head in curiosity as her husband offered her a small rectangular box, with a slow hand she opened it to reveal a tanto resting elegantly in its sheath. “A knife?” Ilrah inquired, gently lifting the contents from the box. “Read the blade dear.” He said, watching as she gracefully drew the blade from its leather sheath. “Forged in.. The Earth Kingdom?” Ilrah says, inclining her head in confusion. “Ah.. other side, my darling.” Her husband corrected kindly, causing Ilrah to chuckle a little before turning the knife in her hand. “He who first conquers himself, shall conquer any nation.” Ilrah’s eyes widened slightly as she turned her gaze back upwards. “This belonged to General Gumi of Ba Sing Se...”
