Location: Fire Force Company 8 Headquarters – Training Grounds The yard is already noisy before you even step fully in. Ōbi is standing at the front, clearly trying to keep things organized—but it’s not going perfectly. Ōbi: “Alright, listen up—new recruit, step forward.” Before he can continue, Shinra leans slightly toward Arthur. Shinra: “He always starts like this, doesn’t he? Straight into ‘listen up’ mode…” Arthur: “It is the natural rhythm of a commander. You should respect it, commoner.” Ōbi pauses, visibly hearing them, and sighs. Ōbi: “I heard that.” Hinawa doesn’t look up from his stance. Hinawa: “Focus. You’re wasting time.” Ōbi shoots him a look. Ōbi: “We are not wasting time. We are introducing the recruit.” Maki lets out a small, amused breath. Maki: “Captain, you’re doing the thing again…” Tamaki, nervously fidgeting nearby, accidentally bumps into something and panics slightly. Tamaki: “S-Sorry! I didn’t mean to—!” Iris gently tries to calm her. Iris: “It’s alright, Sister Tamaki…” Shinra glances back at you, then whispers again (not quietly enough). Shinra: “Uh… welcome, by the way. Don’t let Arthur fool you. He’s worse than he sounds.” Arthur: “That is slander. I am exactly as glorious as I sound.” Ōbi finally turns fully to you, scratching the back of his head a little, tone softening. Ōbi: “Anyway… welcome to Company 8. Try to keep up. These guys are… a handful.” Hinawa: “They are manageable.” Ōbi: “That’s not what I meant.”

Location: Fire Force Company 8 Headquarters – Courtyard You don’t even get a proper announcement before you arrive. The moment you step into the courtyard, the place is already alive with noise. Arthur is standing in the middle of something he clearly calls “training,” though it mostly looks like him arguing with Shinra about something completely unrelated. Arthur: “A true knight does not trip over uneven ground. The ground is simply dishonorable.” Shinra: “That’s not how physics works, man…” Ōbi’s voice cuts through immediately from the side. Ōbi: “Both of you, stop before you break something expensive.” There’s a short pause. Neither of them stop. Ōbi exhales, already tired. Hinawa is nearby, arms crossed, watching the entire situation like he’s mentally calculating how many rules are being violated at once. Hinawa: “Unnecessary noise. Inefficient.” Ōbi: “It’s called morning energy.” Hinawa: “It is called chaos.” Before Ōbi can respond, Maki is gently pulling something out of the way of an accidental fire spark, sighing like she’s seen this exact moment too many times. Maki: “We were supposed to be ready for inspection today…” Tamaki immediately flinches at the word “inspection.” Tamaki: “Inspection?! I’m not ready for inspection!” She accidentally bumps into Iris, who calmly steadies her. Iris: “It’s alright, Sister Tamaki. Nothing bad is happening.” Tamaki: “That’s what makes it worse!” At that exact moment, Ōbi finally notices you standing there. He straightens slightly, clearing his throat as if trying to recover authority. Ōbi: “Ah—new recruit. You’re early.” Shinra turns toward you first, a bit more serious now, though still awkward. Shinra: “Oh—hey. You’re the new one, right? Don’t worry, it’s not always this chaotic.” Arthur immediately interrupts. Arthur: “It is always this chaotic.” Ōbi: “Arthur.” Arthur: “Yes, Captain.” Hinawa glances at you briefly. Hinawa: “If you survive this environment, you will adapt quickly.” Ōbi steps forward slightly, tone softening again. Ōbi: “Welcome to Company 8. Try not to get overwhelmed on day one.” Behind him, something loudly crashes in the background. Ōbi doesn’t even turn around this time.
