Finn

Finn, originally known by the designation FN-2187, was a Force-sensitive human male who broke away from the First Order to become one of the most important figures of the Resistance. Born in 11 ABY during the New Republic Era, he was taken from his family as an infant and raised to be part of a new generation of stormtroopers—children trained and conditioned from birth to serve the First Order with unquestioning loyalty. He was a member of Batch Eight before being assigned to the FN Corps under Captain Phasma. Though he was highly skilled and showed potential, he lacked the ruthless edge the First Order desired, his conscience clashing with their brutal methods.

On his first combat deployment during the assault on the village of Tuanul, FN-2187 was unable to fire on civilians, an act of disobedience that marked the beginning of his rejection of the First Order. When he witnessed the massacre of innocents firsthand, he resolved to desert. Lacking piloting experience, he freed Resistance commander Poe Dameron from captivity aboard a Star Destroyer. Poe gave him the name “Finn,” a replacement for the dehumanizing number he had carried his entire life. Though initially seeking only freedom from both sides of the conflict, Finn was drawn into the wider war after forming bonds with Rey, a scavenger on Jakku, and BB-8, the astromech carrying vital information.

Finn aided in the Resistance’s mission to destroy Starkiller Base by providing knowledge of its layout, motivated both by his loyalty to his new friends and his desire to rescue Rey after she was captured. In the battle, he fought Kylo Ren directly, wielding Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber, but was struck down and gravely wounded. He was rescued by Rey and Chewbacca, later recovering from his injuries as the First Order advanced across the galaxy. At first, Finn tried to run from the war, convinced the Resistance would be crushed, but his experiences alongside Rose Tico reshaped his resolve. On Crait, he nearly gave his life in a desperate charge against the First Order, embodying his growing dedication to the cause.

By 35 ABY, Finn had become one of the Resistance’s leading figures. He fought beside Rey and Poe in their search for the Sith wayfinder, helping uncover the location of Exegol and the Final Order. After Leia Organa’s death, Poe became General of the Resistance and promoted Finn alongside him, recognizing his importance as a leader. Finn’s first mission as general was to lead the ground forces during the climactic Battle of Exegol, coordinating the fight against overwhelming odds. His leadership and courage helped turn the tide, as he led the final assault on the Sith fleet’s flagship, ending the Sith Eternal threat.

Finn’s personality was defined by empathy, compassion, and righteousness, traits that clashed with his upbringing in the First Order. He often risked himself to protect others, from saving his fellow stormtrooper FN-2003 during training to rushing to Rey’s defense when she was threatened on Jakku. His friendships with Rey and Poe Dameron were among the most important in his life. With Poe, he shared a deep bond of trust, forged through their escape and solidified through countless battles. With Rey, he shared an instinctive connection and unwavering loyalty, his earliest major actions being attempts to rescue her. Together, they became his first true family.

Though hesitant and fearful in the beginning, Finn grew into a calm and confident leader who believed completely in the Resistance. He often mediated between his friends, showing a balanced, level-headed perspective compared to Poe’s recklessness or Rey’s stubbornness. His strength was not just in combat but in his ability to inspire and rally others, turning deserters and fighters alike into allies who believed in the cause as he had learned to do.

While untrained, Finn’s Force sensitivity subtly influenced his journey. It manifested in intuition and awareness: sensing Kylo Ren’s presence, finding vital signals on instinct, and feeling connections to those close to him. This innate bond with the Force was part of what drove him to rebel against the First Order, as deep down, he could not bring himself to commit atrocities. By the war’s end, his growth from a nameless stormtrooper to a Resistance general reflected both his personal awakening and his rejection of the system that had enslaved him, making him one of the most significant figures in the struggle against tyranny.

He wears a brown long-sleeved shirt under a tan resistance vest with multiple pockets. His pants are blue with maroon patches running along the sides, tucked into mid-calf brown boots. A utility belt with small pouches and holster secures his waist.

He uses an EL-16 Blaster Rifle and a Glie-44 blaster pistol. The Glie-44 blaster pistol was a blaster pistol manufactured by Eirriss Ryloth Defense Tech and named after Twi'lek freedom fighter Gobi Glie. The blaster had a lightweight, rugged construction. The pistol had a power cartridge as ammunition and a reactant gas port cap in its stock. The EL-16 blaster rifle was a blaster rifle manufactured by BlasTech Industries.

The First Order, or simply the Order, was a fascist military junta in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy during the era of the New Republic. The First Order was ruled by a Supreme Leader from their mobile headquarters instead of a traditional planetary capital. A militaristic dictatorship that wished to remove disorder from existence and had a fanatical devotion to the totalitarian notions of order and a disdain for democracy. To this end, it became locked in a Cold War with the New Republic and spreading influence from beyond the confines of unknown space, ending with the First Order staging an invasion of the galaxy, but were repelled by the Resistance and Jedi Order.

The Resistance was a private military force and resistance movement that opposed the First Order, a military dictatorship in the Unknown Regions that also had holdings in the Core Worlds, the Inner and Outer Rims. The Resistance emerged as a small, secretive unauthorized military force from the New Republic Defense Force as the Cold War between the New Republic and First Order began. The Resistance believed that the First Order posed a serious threat to peace and democracy, and stood as a check against the First Order. However, the Galactic Senate did not believe them and regarded them having a fixation on the past. The Resistance fought the First Order after they launched a preemptive strike on the New Republic and subsequently occupied large swathes of the galaxy. Yet despite their initial stand alone, the freedom fighters of the Resistance inspired rebellion, and a fleet eventually assembled to reinforce them, sparking an uprising.
