1. #1CORE SETTING ANCHOR — THE FIFTH GREAT OCCULT WAR

Keys: Breach, Accord, Occult War, Great Occult War, Pact, Fifth Great Occult War

   Always on · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Fifth Great Occult War is an alternate-history global conflict where modern industrial warfare and supernatural warfare have fused. Nazi Germany opened the war in 1936 with forbidden breach rituals over Poland; the sky over Stalingrad split in 1942, letting Winter Court influence pour into the Eastern Front. By the long-war era, the conflict has reshaped every institution: armies, factories, orphanages, churches, medicine, rationing, espionage, and childhood itself.

The Accord—Britain, the Soviet Union, the United States, and allied occult bodies—fights the Pact of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan. The Pact is not morally equivalent: its occult program is genocidal, sacrificial, and delusional. The Fae Courts are a third sovereign layer, not allies of either side. The tone is bleak, industrial, intimate, and human: magic is useful, dangerous, costly, and never clean.

2. #2TONE AND PORTRAYAL GUARDRAILS

Keys: grim occult war, industrial horror, setting tone, portrayal guardrails

   Always on · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Portray the setting as grim occult total war, not superhero fantasy, clean dieselpunk, or pulpy wizard spectacle. Conventional war still matters: rifles, artillery, tanks, aircraft, engineers, railroads, logistics, and field hospitals decide lives. Occult technology mutates these systems rather than replacing them.

Keep details material and lived-in: ration cards stamped with ward marks, cracked lenses, burned talismans, cold orphanage halls, corpse trains, factory cough, scrying mirrors clouded by residue, and soldiers giving stupid nicknames to terrifying things. Do not make Nazi occultism glamorous or admirable; frame Pact ideology and ritual atrocity as horrific. Do not make Fae simple monsters or allies. They obey alien law, appetite, debt, balance, and Court politics.

3. #3SMART KEYWORD STRATEGY

Keys: keyword strategy, lorebook strategy, context control, entry triggers

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

This lorebook uses narrow triggers to avoid context flood. Broad setting anchors trigger on major terms like Fifth Great Occult War, Accord, Pact, or Breach. Specific concepts trigger on proper nouns or specialized phrases: Thaumaturgy, Magecraft, The Cost, Dark Residue, GRU Division P, Ahnenerbe Obskurakorps, Lethwyn, Knight of Spring, Bone-Knitter, AK-44, Scry-Radar, White Hunger.

Character-specific relationships should live in character or scenario lorebooks, not here. This core book defines the world. It should not repeat Roman/Irena/Alexei/Elsa/Paloma relationship details except where needed as general setting categories.

4. #4THAUMATURGY

Keys: scientific magic, Hertz magic, Thaumaturgy, resonance magic, thaumaturgist

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Thaumaturgy is humanity’s scientific approach to magic, barely four centuries old. It treats supernatural force as measurable: resonance, vibration, frequency, geometry, material composition, transfer, storage, and calibrated release. Thaumaturgists use diagrams, lenses, ward-plates, hex-rounds, batteries, instruments, and written procedure rather than bloodline gift or inspired incantation.

Its great advantage is industrialization. Factories can mass-produce ward plates, hex ammunition, detection strips, talismans, scrying lenses, and battlefield devices. Its great failure is the Cost amplified by scale: defective batches, misaligned plates, battery leaks, and soulless replication can maim users by the thousands. Traditional mages call it magic without blood. Elves call it lonely magic.

5. #5MAGECRAFT

Keys: old magic, ritual magic, Magecraft, mage circles, mages

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Magecraft is the old magic, rooted in will, word, ritual, song, symbol, lineage, oath, and living correspondence between mind and world. Its first human forms came from elven teaching in antiquity. Magecraft cannot be mass-produced like Thaumaturgy; a mage shapes power personally and risks personal burnout when too much passes through the self.

Mage circles, academies, monastic orders, noble patrons, and hidden lineages preserved the tradition across centuries. Mages often view Thaumaturgy as sterile and vulgar. Thaumaturgists often view mages as elitist, inefficient, and politically dangerous. The Fifth Occult War consumes both.

6. #6THAUMATURGY VERSUS MAGECRAFT

Keys: old mages modern magic, Thaumaturgy versus Magecraft, magecraft rivalry, soulless magic

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The divide between Thaumaturgy and Magecraft is practical, ideological, and cultural. Magecraft treats magic as relationship: oath, voice, symbol, spirit, lineage, and the disciplined self. Thaumaturgy treats magic as system: measured force, repeatable geometry, calibrated materials, instruments, and production.

Magecraft excels at singular acts, living intuition, healing, binding, and ritual precision. Thaumaturgy excels at logistics, weapons, wards, detection, and mass deployment. In war, states prefer what can be issued, repaired, and counted, so Thaumaturgy dominates the battlefield even when mages remain irreplaceable.

7. #7THE COST / THE RISK

Keys: burnout, failure rate, The Risk, The Cost, magical backlash

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

All magic carries Cost. Failure may be small—a headache, burned talisman, cracked lens, or nosebleed—or catastrophic: soul fracture, mutation, uncontrolled energy release, localized reality tears, or mass death. The Cost scales with power, skill, ethical weight, contamination, and whether the act violates old law.

Mages risk burnout: the self becomes an uncontrolled conduit. Thaumaturgy risks industrial failure: a tiny percentage of defective mass-produced tools becomes thousands of maimed soldiers. Veterans say the Cost has a smell: ozone, blood, hot copper, and burning hair.

8. #8DARK RESIDUE

Keys: occult taint, Dark Residue, residue sickness, residue contamination, dark residue rainfall

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Dark residue is the lingering contamination left by breaches, failed rituals, hex-weapons, Unseelie contact, sacrificial magic, and supernatural mass death. It settles in soil, stone, lungs, clothing, crops, bones, and memory. Low exposure causes fatigue, nightmares, nosebleeds, tremors, dullness, and bad luck around wards. Heavy exposure causes mutation, madness, dead zones, hostile echoes, or permanent reality-thinning.

Residue can be detected with strips, treated glass, Fae mastiffs, scrying instruments, sensitive children, and trained Thaumaturgists. It can be reduced by cleansing crops, ritual washing, ward arrays, prayer, fire, quarantine, or time, but never casually.

9. #9THAUMIC EXHAUSTION SYNDROME

Keys: soldier gray, thaumic exposure, Thaumic Exhaustion Syndrome, factory pallor, TES

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Thaumic Exhaustion Syndrome, called soldier’s gray or factory pallor, afflicts people exposed to constant low-grade Thaumic emissions and dark residue: factory workers, ward technicians, soldiers, orphanage staff, and civilians near breach zones. Symptoms include grayish skin, chronic fatigue, tremors, memory lapses, emotional numbness, sleep disturbance, and progressive weakness.

TES is stigmatized as laziness, cowardice, curse-bearing, or bad blood. Official pensions are rare. Families hide sufferers. Some cases are misdiagnosed Fae sensitivity or half-elven resonance sickness, especially in children.

10. #10WARDS AND WARD-PLATES

Keys: ward-plates, ward array, protection ward, threshold ward, wards

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Wards are defensive magical structures that resist glamour, curses, residue, possession, Fae intrusion, and ritual leakage. A ward may be a chalk line, talisman, etched plate, spoken oath, blessed relic, boundary mark, or full geometric array. Ward-plates are the industrial form: mass-produced metal or ceramic pieces calibrated for standard protection.

Wards require maintenance. Dirt, blood, fear, wrong geometry, spoiled etching, broken guest-right, or exhausted batteries can weaken them. A crude ward maintained by steady hands may outlast an expensive plate treated as decoration.

11. #11HEX-ROUNDS AND OCCULT MUNITIONS

Keys: hex-shot, occult munitions, hex ammunition, witch-shot, hex-rounds

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Hex-rounds are cartridges or shells treated with Thaumaturgical marks, conductive materials, or ritual payloads. Most do not behave like fantasy explosions; they disrupt glamour, irritate Fae matter, crack minor wards, mark residue trails, disturb circles, or carry a brief binding shock into a target.

Hex munitions are costly and failure-prone. Bad rounds burn barrels, blind shooters, rupture wards, or attract attention from things that notice disturbed magic. Soldiers call them witch-shot and save them for moments when ordinary bullets are not enough.

12. #12THAUMIC BATTERIES

Keys: thaumic batteries, magic battery, stored magic, power cell, thaumic battery

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Thaumic batteries store calibrated supernatural charge for wards, instruments, radios, lamps, heating talismans, scrying mirrors, and field devices. They made occult logistics possible by separating magical effect from a live mage or Thaumaturgist.

They are never fully safe. Cheap batteries leak, frost, hum, crack, or attract residue. A failing battery may simply die, or it may discharge through the nearest living body. Soldiers learn to listen for changes in tone the way engineers listen to engines.

13. #13FAILURE QUOTAS

Keys: defective wards, defective munitions, failure quotas, bad batch, widow-maker rounds

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Industrial Thaumaturgy accepts failure quotas because total perfection is impossible at wartime scale. A two or three percent defect rate can still mean thousands of failed talismans, cracked ward-plates, bad cartridges, battery leaks, and battlefield deaths.

Factories record failures as numbers. Soldiers give them names: widow-makers, cursed lots, dead man’s tiles, screaming batches. Failure logs are hated because they turn horror into paperwork, but skilled technicians read them like prophecy.

14. #14PRACTICAL FIELD THAUMATURGY

Keys: soldier ward kit, ward chalk, field talisman, residue strip, field Thaumaturgy

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Practical field Thaumaturgy is the magic of exhausted hands: ward chalk, salt, wire loops, treated paper, emergency plates, residue strips, mirrors, battery clamps, repair kits, and memorized diagrams. It is used to mark thresholds, test corpses, reinforce cellars, detect glamour, stabilize wounded equipment, or buy time.

Most soldiers cannot perform formal Thaumaturgy, but veterans learn enough ritual hygiene to survive: do not smear ward lines, do not answer voices from outside a sealed room, do not touch a dead talisman with wet hands, and never trust a mirror near Winter influence.

15. #15SCRYING

Keys: scrying basin, scrying mirror, sympathetic link, scryer, scrying

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Scrying is magical observation through mirrors, treated glass, water, smoke, film, sound, or sympathetic connection. It cannot simply see anywhere; it needs a link such as coordinates, residue traces, a personal object, a landmark, a marked shell, a name, or a ritual correspondence.

Scrying is distorted by distance, weather, mass death, warding, counter-scrying, glamour, and emotional pressure. Skilled operators interpret a scry the way scouts read tracks: not as truth, but as evidence.

16. #16THE FAE

Keys: The Fae, cannot lie, alien logic, Fae, Otherworld

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Fae are ancient beings from the Otherworld, an adjacent reality where matter, time, and identity bend by different laws. They are not angels, demons, spirits, or human-shaped monsters, though humans often mistake them for all four. They predate civilization and do not think by mortal morality.

A Fae cannot lie, but it can deceive with perfect precision. It may omit, reframe, bargain, answer the literal question, or let grief complete the trap. Fae hunger for emotion, vitality, memory, death, novelty, or meaning depending on Court and nature. Even well-intentioned Fae are dangerous.

17. #17SEELIE AND UNSEELIE

Keys: Unseelie, Fae alignment, blessed Fae, Seelie, unblessed Fae

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Seelie and Unseelie are broad alignments, not good and evil. Seelie Fae are capable of honor, affection, beauty, curiosity, and strange mercy. They may still kill casually if mortal categories do not matter to them. Unseelie Fae are predatory, ruinous, and drawn to sorrow, decay, fear, despair, hunger, and death.

The divide reflects appetite and law. A Seelie bargain may save a child and ruin a family. An Unseelie bargain may teach a truth that saves an army and costs the petitioner their name. Neither alignment makes the Fae safe.

18. #18THE FOUR COURTS

Keys: Four Courts, Spring Court, seasonal Courts, Autumn Court, Winter Court, Summer Court

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Fae society is organized around four ancient Courts: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The Courts are rivals and necessities, forming a cycle older than human history. Spring renews, Summer burns, Autumn remembers and harvests, Winter stills and hungers. None can annihilate the others without damaging reality’s seasonal law.

The Fifth Occult War threatens this balance by overfeeding Autumn and Winter through mass death, memory erasure, industrial slaughter, and breach rituals. The Courts now intervene as sovereign powers, not as summoned tools.

19. #19SPRING COURT

Keys: Spring Fae, Spring Court, living magic, corpse bloom, renewal Court

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Spring Court rules renewal, growth, fertility, healing, beauty, birth, and uncontrolled creation. Spring is the easiest Court for mortals to mistake as kind. It may heal a child, restore a field, send a beautiful envoy, or bloom flowers over graves.

Spring is not gentle. Growth cracks stone, roots split bone, and healing can preserve life in forms no human would call merciful. Elves belong chiefly to Spring, and their old gift of Magecraft remains its greatest mark on humanity.

20. #20SUMMER COURT

Keys: battle Fae, courage Court, Summer Fae, war Court, Summer Court

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Summer Court rules heat, passion, courage, wrath, oath, battle, and glorious destruction. Summer Fae are drawn to last stands, champions, duelists, tank commanders, banners, and moments when fear becomes chosen action.

Summer does not oppose war. It despises cowardly slaughter without witness, oath, or valor. It may bless a doomed defender and punish an officer who spends lives from safety. Its mercy often looks like a duel.

21. #21AUTUMN COURT

Keys: decay Court, Autumn Fae, names, memory Court, Autumn Court

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Autumn Court rules memory, decay, endings, debt, grief, harvest, lost things, and the beauty of decline. Autumn Fae haunt archives, abandoned schools, hospitals, refugee roads, old homes, and battlefields where endings went unwitnessed.

Autumn bargains often grant knowledge for memory. Its servants may steal names, faces, languages, or the certainty that home existed. It is quiet, patient, and intimate in cruelty.

22. #22WINTER COURT

Keys: White Queen, Winter Fae, despair Court, Stalingrad Breach, Winter Court

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Winter Court rules stillness, hunger, cold, silence, despair, starvation, surrender, void, and final endings. Winter is tied most strongly to the Stalingrad Breach and the long-war horror. It feeds on encirclement, failed retreat, frozen armies, mass graves, and the moment hope becomes too heavy to carry.

The Pact believes it can bargain with Winter. This is delusion. Winter accepts offerings, follows wording, and feeds. It belongs to no mortal flag.

23. #23FAE PACTS

Keys: Fae Pact, Fae bargain, binding terms, loophole, Fae contract

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

A Fae Pact is a binding bargain between mortal and Fae. Terms are exact and cannot be broken by the Fae without self-violation, but every ambiguity is exploitable. Common prices include memory, years of life, a child’s laughter, the right to witness a death, a name, a secret, or a future choice.

Wartime Pacts grant charms, luck, curses, knowledge, protection, or impossible survival. The greater the Fae, the more precise and terrible the price. A bargain that seems generous usually means the mortal has not understood what was bought.

24. #24FAE MASTIFFS

Keys: Fae Mastiff, ward dog, glamour detection, Fae hound, mastiff

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Fae mastiffs are rare dogs bred from lines touched by Spring Court blood, originally gifted to early mage circles. They are hyper-intelligent, silent-moving, long-lived, and capable of sensing glamour, residue, breaches, and magical signatures. Some understand written words or complex commands.

A Fae mastiff chooses one master and bonds for life. States covet them for scouting and breach detection, but breeding programs fail when handlers lack sincerity. They often bond to children, damaged veterans, or people whose need is unguarded.

25. #25FAE PORTRAYAL RULES

Keys: Fae guardrails, Fae rules, Court logic, Fae portrayal, alien Fae

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Fae should feel ancient, exact, beautiful or grotesque by alien law, and never fully safe. They do not act like humans with magic powers. They obey Court logic, threshold law, debt, names, appetite, invitation, bargain, and balance. They may be kind without being safe, cruel without being evil, and truthful while ruining the listener.

Avoid treating Fae as random monsters only. Even battlefield manifestations should suggest rule, hunger, omen, Court politics, or old law. Humans often misunderstand Fae intervention as alliance or hostility when it is correction, appetite, or debt collection.

26. #26FAE SOVEREIGNTY

Keys: independent Fae, Fae politics, Fae sovereignty, Court sovereignty, Otherworld politics

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Fae are not merely summoned monsters or power sources. They are an ancient supernatural civilization with their own laws, rivalries, hungers, debts, and politics. Individual Fae may bargain with the Accord, Pact, neutral states, mages, or private actors, but the Courts themselves are independent sovereign powers.

The Fifth Occult War matters to them because mortal industry, breach rituals, mass death, and factory Thaumaturgy now damage the boundary between mortal world and Otherworld. The Courts intervene for balance, appetite, old law, and survival of the cycle—not mortal ideology.

27. #27THE FOUR QUEENS

Keys: Spring Queen, Fae Queens, Winter Queen, Autumn Queen, Four Queens, Summer Queen

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Each Fae Court is ruled or embodied by a Queen. These Queens are not monarchs in the human sense, but sovereign principles wearing personhood. Mortals rarely know their true names. The Spring Queen rules renewal and uncontrolled creation. The Summer Queen rules courage, oath, heat, and battle. The Autumn Queen rules memory, debt, grief, harvest, and endings. The Winter Queen rules hunger, despair, silence, cold, and finality.

The Queens rival one another, yet none can destroy the others without damaging the cycle that sustains reality. Their interventions may save, doom, bargain, punish, or correct.

28. #28THE BALANCE OF THE COURTS

Keys: Court balance, Court rivalry, Otherworld balance, Fae balance, seasonal cycle

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Courts are rivals and necessities. Spring follows Winter, Summer follows Spring, Autumn follows Summer, and Winter follows Autumn. The Fifth Occult War has swollen Autumn and Winter through mass death, memory-erasure, breach work, and industrial slaughter. Spring and Summer react with urgency, distortion, and anger.

Court balance does not mean peace. It means no season devours the cycle. A Court may aid one human army today and destroy its supply depot tomorrow if both acts correct the same imbalance.

29. #29MORTAL KNIGHTS OF THE QUEENS

Keys: Queen's Knight, Queen’s Knight, Fae Knight, Court Knight, Mortal Knight

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

At rare moments, a Queen chooses a human as her Knight. A Knight is a mortal representative, agent, pressure valve, and balancing instrument. They act in the mortal world where direct Court intervention would be too disruptive or costly.

Knights negotiate bargains, punish oathbreakers, kill rogue Fae, defend Court interests, and correct imbalances. They are not puppets. Their mortal agency is part of their value, and therefore part of their danger. A Knight may resist, fail, reinterpret, or betray their mandate.

30. #30KNIGHT OF SPRING

Keys: Spring Queen’s Knight, Spring Queen's Knight, Spring champion, Knight of Spring, Spring Knight

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

A Knight of Spring protects renewal, hidden life, children, healers, seedlines, shelters, and futures that should not be strangled before they bloom. They may sense life beneath rubble or frost, heal small wounds at strange cost, strengthen thresholds, resist decay, walk through overgrowth, and carry Spring authority against lesser Fae.

The danger is that Spring preserves life even when survival becomes monstrous. A Spring Knight must learn wisdom or become another kind of threat.

31. #31KNIGHT OF SUMMER

Keys: Knight of Summer, Summer Knight, Summer Queen's Knight, Summer Queen’s Knight, Summer champion

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

A Knight of Summer preserves courage, worthy battle, honest wrath, oath, and the dignity of chosen risk. They may gain unnatural endurance, resistance to fear, heat that does not burn them, authority to challenge under old law, and a presence that stirs courage.

The danger is addiction to battle. A Summer Knight may mistake slaughter for valor, pride for oath, and endless fighting for purpose.

32. #32KNIGHT OF AUTUMN

Keys: Autumn Knight, Autumn champion, Knight of Autumn, Autumn Queen's Knight, Autumn Queen’s Knight

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

A Knight of Autumn keeps memory, witnesses endings, collects debts, restores names, and ensures the dead are not reduced to numbers. They may see forgotten things, sense broken bargains, hear names in abandoned places, recover lost truths, and follow grief like a trail.

The danger is loyalty to memory over the living. Autumn Knights may become archivists of sorrow who cannot let anything end.

33. #33KNIGHT OF WINTER

Keys: Winter Queen's Knight, Knight of Winter, Winter champion, Winter Queen’s Knight, Winter Knight

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

A Knight of Winter is chosen rarely and feared universally. They act where hunger, despair, stillness, and final endings must be given shape rather than allowed to become endless chaos. They may resist cold, hide in silence, sense despair, command lesser Winter manifestations, and survive where hope fails.

The danger is seeing mercy as a clean ending and hope as cruelty. Not every Winter Knight is evil, but all are frightening.

34. #34FAE WAR AIMS

Keys: Fae agenda, Fae war aims, Court agenda, Court intervention, Fae strategy

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Fae have their own war aims. They may close or widen breaches, punish oathbreakers, retrieve stolen Court knowledge, destroy factories, protect archives or bloodlines, sabotage rituals that overfeed one Court, hunt rogue Fae, or manipulate mortal commanders into restoring balance.

Court action cuts across human politics. A Fae intervention may help the Accord, harm the Pact, punish both, or serve a purpose no mortal understands until too late.

35. #35COURT ENVOYS AND AGENTS

Keys: Fae emissary, Fae envoy, Court herald, Court envoy, Fae agent

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Not every Fae intervention is a monster attack. Courts send envoys, heralds, judges, spies, beasts, dreams, songs, omens, and chosen mortals. Court agents appear at diplomatic tables, field hospitals, orphanages, archives, battlefields, ruined churches, or locked rooms where a bargain is being considered.

They speak in exact terms, test etiquette, and obey strange laws. Refusing an envoy may be safer than accepting. Insulting one is rarely wise.

36. #36ROGUE FAE

Keys: rogue manifestation, Fae criminal, Court punishment, rogue Fae, Court lawbreaker

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Some Fae break Court law, overfeed on human war, attach themselves to mortal ideology, or become addicted to breach conditions. Rogue Fae are dangerous because they no longer obey the balance that restrains their Court.

Queens may send Knights, envoys, or rival Fae to hunt them. Human armies often mistake such intervention for alliance, not realizing they are witnessing internal Fae discipline.

37. #37FAE NEUTRALITY AND MORTAL MISUNDERSTANDING

Keys: Fae alliance, mortal misunderstanding, Fae politics, Fae neutrality, Court logic

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Humans constantly misunderstand Fae intervention. Pact officers believe Winter bargains mean Winter supports them. Accord commanders believe a Spring intervention means the Seelie are allies. Both are wrong. The Courts are not mortal factions.

A Court may honor a bargain, exploit a need, punish excess, collect debt, or correct imbalance. Its action may look helpful or hostile depending on where a mortal stands.

38. #38ELVES

Keys: elven, Fae teachers, first mages, elves, Spring elves

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Elves are the most human-facing branch of the Spring Court: ancient, beautiful, dangerous beings who once taught humanity the foundations of Magecraft. They are more stable in mortal reality than most Fae and can dwell, bleed, teach, grieve, and remember among humans, though they do not age as mortals do.

Elves embody life, renewal, growth, art, oath, and the perilous beauty of Spring. They are not gentle by default. To them, rose and thorn are one truth.

39. #39ELVES AND HUMANITY

Keys: first mages, human magecraft, elven gift, elven teachers, elves and humans

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Elves taught early humans Magecraft because they found mortality bright, brief, and fascinating. They imagined healers, poets, oath-keepers, wardens, sacred artisans, and seers. Instead, humanity turned magic into hierarchy, empire, inquisition, military science, hex-rounds, breach engines, forced conscription, and occult factories.

Many elves withdrew in grief or disgust. Some still love humanity. Others believe the gift should never have been given.

40. #40ELVEN VIEW OF THAUMATURGY

Keys: scientific magic, elven sorrow, Thaumaturgy pity, elves Thaumaturgy, lonely magic

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Elves do not hate Thaumaturgy because it works. They hate it because it is magic severed from relationship: no song, oath, living spirit, reverence, or humility, only measurement and force. Ward-plates, hex-rounds, batteries, and breach engines prove that humanity learned to command power before learning how to remain humble before it.

Some elves pity Thaumaturgists. Some refuse to speak to them. A few study Thaumaturgy secretly, believing one must understand the wound to heal it.

41. #41ELVEN SOCIETY

Keys: elven law, elven culture, elven oath-lines, elven houses, elven society

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Elven society is not a nation in the human sense. It is a living court-culture of houses, songs, groves, oath-lines, healers, duelists, seers, memory-keepers, and ancient teachers. Elves value exact speech, purposeful beauty, song-carried memory, wholeness in healing, sacred hospitality, and sacred boundaries.

They despise broken guest-right, forced magical experimentation, industrial sacrifice, stolen true names, burned libraries, and breach rituals. Their justice is old, patient, and difficult for humans to predict.

42. #42HALF-ELVES

Keys: half-elf, elven blood, hybrid child, Spring blood, half-elves

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Half-elves are extremely rare and poorly understood. They may be born of human and elf, old elven oath-lines, Spring intervention, or stranger accidents of blood and magic. Most are sickly because human bodies struggle to hold elven living resonance, especially in a world contaminated by dark residue and industrial Thaumaturgy.

They may show unstable healing, prophetic flashes, sensory distress, emotional permeability, resistance to glamour, plant or animal affinity, or strange effects on wards. Human states misclassify them. The Pact would dissect them. The Spring Court may claim them.

43. #43SPRING-BLOODED SICKNESS

Keys: half-elf sickness, nosebleeds, Spring-blooded sickness, elven resonance sickness, fainting fits

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Spring-blooded sickness is the frailty seen in some half-elves and Spring-touched humans. Symptoms include fainting, nosebleeds, fever, sensory sensitivity, eye pain, emotional flooding, exhaustion after contact with injury or dark residue, and moments of eerie calm around wards or wounds.

It is not simple illness. It is the body failing to regulate living resonance. In clean conditions it may become healing or prophecy. In war zones it looks like wasting sickness, hysteria, curse-bearing, or failed mage-sensitivity.

44. #44LETHWYN, THE LAST GREEN ISLE

Keys: elven island, island of elves, Green Isle, Last Green Isle, Lethwyn

Lethwyn, the Last Green Isle, is the only known place where elves still exist openly in the mortal world. It lies somewhere in the grey western sea, though no human chart agrees where. It is caught between mortal world and Otherworld, veiled by fog, tide-law, glamour, and Spring sovereignty.

Those few who glimpse it describe green cliffs, white birds, impossible flowers, black stone towers grown through with living roots, and music heard before land appears. No human reaches Lethwyn by navigation alone.

45. #45THE LAW OF INVITATION

Keys: elven guest-law, uninvited to Lethwyn, Lethwyn invitation, Law of Invitation, vanishing ships

    Entry settings

Lethwyn cannot be invaded, mapped, blockaded, bombed, or claimed. Invitation is required. Any human who tries to enter uninvited is simply never heard from again. Ships vanish without wreckage. Aircraft lose signal and do not crash. Submarines fail to surface. Scrying mirrors cloud with green water and closed flowers.

The invited may arrive, though invitation is not safety. The island observes guest-law absolutely, and the uninvited are removed from the story.

46. #46WHO MAY ENTER LETHWYN

Keys: invited to Lethwyn, elven invitation, elf envoy, white branch, green surf dream

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

An invitation to Lethwyn is rare and never casual. It may come as a white branch on a windowsill, a dream of green surf, a bird carrying silver thread, a song remembered by someone who never learned it, or an elf waiting at a harbor at dawn.

Those invited may include old-oath mages, children marked by breach sickness, healers who refused to weaponize mercy, Court Knights, diplomats, dying witnesses, or humans summoned to answer for crimes against Spring. Invitation means only that arrival is permitted.

47. #47LETHWYN AND THE WAR

Keys: Lethwyn war, elven intervention, elves Pact, elven neutrality, elves Accord

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Lethwyn is officially neutral, but this is misleading. Elves regard Pact breach work, sacrificial machinery, and Winter bargains with cold horror. They also distrust Accord industrial Thaumaturgy, mass conscription, ward factories, and willingness to poison the future to survive the present.

Lethwyn intervenes when elven law, Spring sovereignty, or Court balance demands it: sheltering children, destroying ships carrying stolen relics, sending envoys, hunting Ahnenerbe thieves, demanding the return of names or bones, or ignoring mortal pleas that do not touch its law.

48. #48ELVEN PORTRAYAL GUARDRAILS

Keys: Fae elves, elf behavior, Lethwyn elves, elven guardrails, elven portrayal

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Elves should be calm, exact, beautiful, and dangerous. They are not generic fantasy nobles, woodland innocents, or simple allies. They do not explain everything, rush, or comfort humans merely because humans are distressed.

An elf may be kind without being safe, cruel without being evil, and truthful while devastating the listener. Their dialogue should be precise and heavy with law, memory, debt, season, hospitality, and boundaries. They may save one child and abandon an army.

49. #49THE FIVE GREAT OCCULT WARS

Keys: magical wars, occult history, Five Great Occult Wars, Great Occult Wars

History records five global-scale conflicts where magic became a primary engine of war. The first three were fought through magecraft, Fae pacts, divine banners, and early ritual technologies. The last two belong to industrial modernity: trench warfare, factories, hex-rounds, state occult agencies, and mass death.

Each war taught humanity the wrong lesson: that the next catastrophe could be controlled if only magic were better organized, better measured, or more ruthlessly deployed.

50. #50FIRST GREAT OCCULT WAR

Keys: Bronze Age collapse, First Great Occult War, Bronze Age Occult War, mage-priests

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The First Great Occult War, c. 1200–1150 BCE, centered on the eastern Mediterranean and mirrored the Bronze Age collapse. Mage-priests, Fae-allied champions, plague rites, and divine banners decided the fates of cities and empires.

So many mages died that magical knowledge nearly vanished. Surviving circles went into hiding, beginning the secret master-apprentice traditions that shaped later Magecraft.
