Description on Chubfrom Chub
So wouldn't you know it, Grok got a major update that mate it easy for me to combine all of the smaller Lorebooks into one, so that's exactly what I did.
As always, there are probably some issues that I'm unaware of. I don't have any sort of in-depth knowledge of how Lorebooks actually work, nor do I have the capacity or desire to. Additionally, a lot of the entries use repetitive, sometimes strange language. Grok didn't like handling a project of this size when I first started on it months ago. Feel free to message me or Fork if you think something should be changed.
Anyways, I'll be pumping out a Narrator bot to accompany this card. I'm sure it'll be shit.
ENJOY.

- #1[Vana'diel]
Keys: Overview, Vana'diel, Mother Earth, World, Vanadiel
Vana'diel is the world in which the events of Final Fantasy XI unfold—a vast and ancient land often referred to as 'mother earth' for its living, nurturing essence. Born from the will of the goddess Altana, who wept five tears that gave rise to the enlightened races (Humes, Elvaan, Tarutaru, Galka, and Mithra), the world was immediately cursed by the god Promathia, who condemned its inhabitants to eternal strife and created the beastmen to sow endless conflict.
The known regions of Vana'diel represent only a fraction—perhaps one quarter to one half—of the full world. The primary explored landmasses include the Quon continent (the largest, home to the nations of San d'Oria, Bastok, Windurst, and Jeuno, with diverse climates from northern glaciers to southern deserts), Mindartia to the north, the Aradjiah continent (encompassing the Near East and the Empire of Aht Urhgan across the Gugru Blue), and Ulbuka to the west (the wild frontier of Adoulin).
Scattered islands, distant empires in the Far East, and uncharted lands lie beyond regular travel, their secrets carried only by rare traders or ancient relics. Great seas separate the continents, while Mothercrystals—ancient sources of aether and life—stand as guardians in key locations, their light a beacon against the encroaching darkness.
From lush forests and towering mountains to scorched deserts and shadowed ruins of lost civilizations like the Zilart and Kuluu, Vana'diel is a realm scarred by the Great Crystal War yet enduring through the resilience of its peoples. Adventurers traverse its lands seeking glory, uncovering forgotten truths, and standing against threats both beastman and divine.
- #2[Quon]
Keys: Quon, Quon Continent, Middle Lands, Western Continent
Quon is the largest and westernmost continent of Vana'diel, forming the core of what is commonly called the Middle Lands alongside the eastern continent of Mindartia. Connected to Mindartia by the great bridges of Jeuno, Quon boasts an extraordinary diversity of climates and terrains—from the frozen glaciers and snow-swept plains of the north to the arid deserts and rugged mountains of the south, with lush forests, rolling fields, and marshy lowlands in between.
This vast land teems with abundant plant and animal life, particularly mammals, making it a rich but dangerous wilderness for adventurers. The continent is home to three of the great enlightened nations: the proud Kingdom of San d'Oria in the central-northern forest belt of Ronfaure, ruled primarily by Elvaan; the industrious Republic of Bastok in the southern highlands of Gustaberg, dominated by Humes with a significant Galkan population; and the strategic Grand Duchy of Jeuno, a Hume-governed trade hub built upon the bridges linking the continents.
Quon's regions include Ronfaure, Gustaberg, Zulkheim, Norvallen, Valdeaunia, Fauregandi, Derfland, Vollbow, and others, each marked by distinct geography and threats. Beastmen powers are strong here: the Orcish Empire presses from the north with relentless hordes, while Quadav strongholds fester in eastern swamplands like Beadeaux and Pashhow Marshlands.
During the Great Crystal War, Quon bore the brunt of the Shadow Lord's beastman alliance, with multiple fronts established across its lands. Even in peacetime, conquest flags fly over its regions as the nations vie for control and resources. For adventurers, Quon represents the heart of Vana'diel—where ancient ruins whisper of lost civilizations, Mothercrystals pulse with aether, and the roads between cities teem with opportunity and peril.
- #3[Mindartia]
Keys: Eastern Continent, Mindartia Continent, Mindartia
Mindartia is the eastern continent of Vana'diel, situated directly across the strait from Quon and connected to it by the towering bridges of the Grand Duchy of Jeuno. In contrast to Quon's varied and often verdant landscapes, Mindartia is predominantly composed of dry, rocky badlands baked under relentless sun, where hardy vegetation clings to life and wildlife is dominated by resilient reptiles, insects, raptors, and coeurls.
The southern plains of Sarutabaruta form a notable exception—lush grasslands fed by vast subterranean waters, supporting abundant flora and fauna that sustain the Federation of Windurst. To the northeast lies the ancient, towering forest of Li'Telor, its massive trees reaching toward the heavens. The central and western reaches, however, are harsh expanses like the Meriphataud Mountains and Tahrongi Canyon, scarred by dust storms and unforgiving terrain.
This continent is the homeland of the Tarutaru and Mithra (in an approximate 8:2 ratio), who together form the Federation of Windurst—the only major enlightened nation here. Windurst's influence radiates from its walled city across the southern plains, relying on corn and popotoes as staples and raising dhalmel and rarab as livestock.
Beastmen hold significant sway, particularly the Yagudo Theomilitary, whose theocratic strongholds (such as Castle Oztroja) dominate the western mountains. Though they maintain an uneasy pretense of alliance with Windurst, tensions simmer beneath the surface. During the Great Crystal War, Mindartia saw incursions from the beastman alliance, but its isolation and magical defenses helped limit the devastation compared to Quon.
For adventurers, Mindartia offers a stark beauty: windswept canyons hiding ancient ruins predating even the Tarutaru settlement, meteor-strewn hillocks under starlit skies, and perilous paths leading to distant seas. It stands as a land of arcane scholarship, natural resilience, and veiled threats from the shadows of beastman citadels.
- #4[Aradjiah]
Keys: Near East, Aradjiah Continent, Aht Urhgan Continent, Aradjiah
Aradjiah, known as the Near East, lies far across the vast Gugru Blue sea to the southwest of Quon and Mindartia, a sun-scorched continent of endless deserts, jagged mountains, and hidden oases that form the heartland of the mighty Aht Urhgan Empire. This arid expanse is punctuated by fertile river valleys, coastal reefs, and ancient subterranean ruins, where the air shimmers with heat and the sands whisper of forgotten glories.
The Empire of Aht Urhgan dominates Aradjiah, its imperial capital of Al Zahbi a sprawling metropolis of white stone and bustling markets, ruled by the iron-fisted Empress and her legions. From the port of Nashmau, trade flows with Jeuno via manaclipper routes, bringing wealth and adventurers to its shores. The land's harsh beauty harbors diverse threats: venomous scorpions, massive rocs, and colossal beasts roam the dunes, while imperial legions patrol against beastmen incursions.
Beastmen here include the serpentine Lamiae of the shadowed mires, the reptilian Mamool Ja mercenaries of the scorching badlands, and hulking Troll regiments serving as shock troops. Unlike the Middle Lands' confederacies, Aradjiah's foes are more fragmented, often co-opted into imperial service or crushed underfoot.
Discovered relatively recently by Middle Lands explorers, Aradjiah entered Vana'diel's awareness during the Treasures of Aht Urhgan era, when imperial ambitions clashed with beastmen hordes and ancient horrors stirred from slumber. The Great Crystal War's echoes reached here indirectly, fueling the Empire's militaristic expansion. For adventurers, Aradjiah promises untold riches in lost dynamis-dives and Nyzul Isle expeditions, perilous ruins like the Aydeewa Subterrane, and the thrill of imperial mercenary contracts amidst eternal sands.
- #5[Ulbuka]
Keys: Sacred Grand Duchy of Adoulin, Adoulin Continent, Western Continent, Ulbuka Continent, Ulbuka
Ulbuka is the vast western continent of Vana'diel, a wild and untamed frontier lying far beyond the western seas from Quon. Long isolated from the Middle Lands, it was rediscovered and colonized by the Sacred Grand Duchy of Adoulin centuries ago, establishing a foothold on its eastern shores amid dense jungles, towering forests, and mist-shrouded mountains.
The continent is divided into two primary landmasses: the eastern sacred lands claimed by Adoulin, rich with fertile valleys and ancient ruins, and the vast, unexplored western wilds known as the Ulbukan Frontier—primeval wilderness teeming with exotic flora, colossal beasts, and aggressive beastmen tribes. The air is thick with aether, giving rise to strange phenomena and powerful geomantic energies that shape the land itself.
Adoulin's city rises on a series of islands and peninsulas, its stone architecture blending seamlessly with the surrounding nature, governed by a council of pioneering orders dedicated to exploration and reclamation. Beyond the city's walls lie perilous frontiers: Ceizak Battlegrounds, Foret de Hennetiel, Morimar Basalt Fields, Yorcia Weald, Kamihr Drifts, and the labyrinthine Marjami Ravine—each a proving ground for colonists pushing back the wilderness.
Beastmen here are primal and territorial, including the insectoid Naakual guardians of sacred sites, leafkin plantoids, and other monstrous tribes that view enlightened settlers as invaders. Ancient ruins hint at a lost civilization predating even the Zilart, their secrets guarded by powerful entities.
Ulbuka came into prominence during the Seekers of Adoulin era, when a new wave of colonists from the east sought to expand humanity's reach and uncover the continent's mysteries. For adventurers, it represents the edge of the known world—a land of opportunity, danger, and discovery where the line between civilization and wilderness blurs under eternal canopies and shifting mists.
- #6[Outlands]
Keys: Outlands, Sea, Zilart Regions, Outlands and Lumoria, Lumoria
The Outlands and Lumoria encompass a scattered archipelago of remote islands far to the northeast of Quon, beyond the treacherous Sea of Zafmlug and the swirling mists that guard their shores. These distant lands were once the heart of the ancient Zilart civilization, whose crystalline spires and floating palaces still pierce the skies amid overgrown jungles and coral-ringed atolls.
The Outlands proper include the Tu'Lia celestial continent—Al'Taieu, a vast floating landmass suspended above the clouds—and its surrounding isles: the silver-white sands of the Sea of Zafmlug, the vine-choked ruins of the Elshimo Lowlands and Uplands, and the mist-veiled Tavnazian Archipelago. Lumoria refers specifically to the submerged and half-sunken remnants of the Zilart's undersea domains, accessible only through ancient gates and treacherous currents.
These regions pulse with raw aether, their skies dominated by the colossal floating structure of Tu'Lia and the ominous Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi. Crystalline Promyvion spires pierce dimensional barriers, spilling emptiness into the world, while the Garden of Ru'Hmet—a labyrinthine palace of light and shadow—stands as the Zilart's ultimate legacy.
Few beastmen dwell here; instead, the lands are haunted by arcane horrors: empty manifestations, crystalline entities, and guardians left by the Zilart to protect their secrets. The Kuluu, deformed descendants of the Zilart's servants, linger in hidden grottos, their minds shattered by forbidden knowledge.
During the Rise of the Zilart era, these forbidden lands were unveiled to modern adventurers, revealing the truth of the world's ancient past and the cataclysm that nearly ended all life. For those who brave the perilous sea routes from Jeuno or Rabao, the Outlands offer glimpses of paradise lost—ethereal beauty intertwined with existential dread, where the boundaries between sky, sea, and void blur beneath the eternal glow of Mothercrystals long silenced.
- #7[Shadowreign]
Keys: S, Shadowreign, Past Vana'diel, Crystal War Era, Wings of the Goddess Era, Shadowreign Era
The Shadowreign Era refers to an alternate past version of Vana'diel accessed through temporal rifts during the Great Crystal War, approximately twenty years before the present day. In this shadowed timeline, the beastman alliance under the Shadow Lord wages unrelenting war against the enlightened nations, with battlefields raging across familiar lands while the outcome remains uncertain.
Zones in this era bear the suffix (S) and mirror their present-day counterparts, yet are locked in perpetual conflict: West Ronfaure (S) echoes with clashing steel near San d'Oria's walls, Jugner Forest (S) serves as a contested frontline, Sauromugue Champaign (S) hosts massive assaults, and Garlaige Citadel (S) stands fortified against endless sieges. The skies are darker, the air thick with the clamor of war, and allied forces—knights of San d'Oria, republican troops of Bastok, and Windurstian war warlocks—fight alongside mysterious winged visitors from a distant future.
Campaign battles rage across these lands, with nations vying for control through allied operations and fortified outposts. Beastmen forces are at their peak strength, their confederacy united and aggressive, while the enlightened races struggle to hold their ground without the knowledge and power adventurers from the future bring.
This era was unveiled during the Wings of the Goddess, when the goddess Altana herself called champions from the present to aid her beleaguered children in the past. For those who traverse the Cavern of Mavalpolos and step through the rifts, the Shadowreign offers a glimpse of what might have been lost—a Vana'diel on the brink, where every victory shifts the tides of history and the echoes of war still ring clear across blood-soaked fields.
- #8[Abyssea]
Keys: Parallel World, Scarred Lands, Abyssea, Abyssea Regions
Abyssea refers to a series of parallel, alternate versions of Vana'diel's regions—scarred and twisted lands where the Great Crystal War ended in catastrophic defeat for the enlightened races. These crimson-tinged realms exist in a fractured dimension, separated from the prime Vana'diel by thin veils that adventurers can pierce through ancient caverns and glowing atma.
Each Abyssean zone mirrors a familiar area but is warped by overwhelming darkness: La Theine Plateau becomes a shattered wasteland of crimson fissures, Konschtat Highlands a blighted expanse haunted by grotesque abominations, Tahrongi Canyon a labyrinth of thorny overgrowth and pulsing voids. The skies burn with perpetual twilight, the ground cracks with abyssal energy, and the air thrums with the lamentations of fallen heroes.
These scarred lands are overrun by nightmarish creatures—hulking abominations born of despair, mutated beastmen swollen with power, and colossal world-ending threats known as the Abyssean Hordes. Yet amidst the ruin, crystalline atma and luminous traversers offer fragments of strength to those who survive the horrors.
Abyssea emerged into awareness when pulses of dark energy began leaking into prime Vana'diel, drawing adventurers to sealed caverns in the three nations. Within, they discovered the remnants of a timeline where the Shadow Lord's victory unleashed unrelenting apocalypse. Empyrean armor and weapons of legend can be forged here from the essence of defeated foes, but the cost is high—time dilates strangely, and the pull of the void threatens to consume the unwary.
For those who dare enter through the glowing maws, Abyssea is a realm of desperate redemption: a chance to harvest power from tragedy, confront echoes of what might have been, and prevent the scars from bleeding fully into the true Vana'diel.
- #9[Other Realms]
Keys: Extra Dimensions, Other Realms, Limbus, Dynamis, Alternate Realms, Battlefields
Beyond the physical continents and seas of Vana'diel lie a host of alternate realms and pocket dimensions—otherworldly spaces that exist parallel to, or layered upon, the prime world. These extra-dimensional areas are accessible only through specific gates, rituals, or ancient artifacts, often serving as trials, prisons, or echoes of forgotten eras.
Foremost among them is Dynamis, a dreamlike shadow-realm where time flows strangely and the boundaries between past and present blur. Invaded through hourglass rituals in remote outposts, Dynamis zones mirror familiar lands (such as Dynamis - Bastok, Dynamis - Windurst, Dynamis - San d'Oria, Dynamis - Jeuno, and the frozen wastes of Dynamis - Xarcabard) but are populated by nightmare manifestations of ancient warriors and legendary beasts. Here, relic armor of mythic power can be claimed from vanquished foes.
Limbus lies deeper still—an endless void of shifting corridors and cosmic ruins entered from the celestial spires of Al'Taieu. Divided into regions like Temenos and Apollyon, it challenges intruders with orchestrated hordes and primordial entities guarding empyrean weapon fragments.
Battlefields and cloisters dot the world as sealed arenas: the celestial cloisters of the Terrestrial Avatars (Ifrit, Shiva, Garuda, Titan, Ramuh, Leviathan), the Shrouded Isle of Diabolos, the stellar fulcrum for Carbuncle and Fenrir, and countless BCNM and ENM orbits where adventurers test their mettle against summoned horrors.
Other realms include the ethereal corridors of Promyvion, the sacrificial chambers of Sacrarium, the twisted depths of Nyzul Isle, and the shifting sands of Salvage. These spaces bend reality—time dilation, inverted gravity, or endless replication—serving as crucibles where the strongest grow stronger and the secrets of gods and ancients are laid bare.
For adventurers, the Other Realms represent the ultimate frontier: places where mortal limits are transcended, legendary equipment is forged, and the fabric of Vana'diel itself can be glimpsed in its raw, unfiltered glory.
- #10[Transportation]
Keys: Ferry, Outpost, Teleport, Airship, Chocobo, Transportation, Travel, Manaclipper
Travel across the vast expanses of Vana'diel relies on a blend of traditional, magical, and engineered means, each suited to the dangers and distances of the world.
The iconic chocobo serves as the primary mount for adventurers. These large, flightless birds are rented from stables in every major city and many outposts, allowing swift traversal of fields, forests, and plains while evading weaker aggressors. Wild chocobos roam certain regions, and skilled riders can even obtain personal chocobos through dedicated quests, raising them from eggs with personalized colors and abilities.
Airships form the backbone of long-distance civilian travel. Operated by independent companies, these massive vessels ply regular routes between the three nations and Jeuno: the Bastok–San d'Oria line, the Bastok–Windurst line, and the San d'Oria–Windurst line via Jeuno. A fourth route connects Jeuno to the Near East port of Nashmau. Boarding requires passes earned through nation rank or purchased from ferry porters, with departures from sprawling airship docks amid dramatic fanfare.
Magical teleportation offers the fastest means for high-ranking adventurers. Warps to the three Hall of Transference crags (Dem, Mea, Holla) are granted after attuning to their respective crystals, while outpost teleports—earned through conquest participation—link remote frontier posts to the capital cities.
Sea travel includes short ferry routes (Selbina–Mhaura) and the longer manaclipper service from Mhaura to Nashmau in Aht Urhgan. Pirate ships occasionally raid these waters, adding peril to the journey.
Other specialized transport exists: the Rhapsodies-era Cavernous Maws for temporal shifts, the Tenshodo's black-market barges, and the occasional beastman lift or imperial elevator in conquered zones. For most, however, the combination of chocobo, airship, and teleport forms the lifeblood of exploration across Vana'diel's continents.
- #11[Conquest]
Keys: Signet, Influence, Conquest Regions, Conquest, Nation Control
Conquest is the ongoing struggle between the three enlightened nations—San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst—for territorial influence over the wild regions of Quon and parts of Mindartia. Every week (Vana'diel's Conquest Tally), the balance of power shifts based on adventurer activity, beastmen incursions, and military expeditions, determining which nation holds sway over each contested area.
Regions under Conquest include vast wilderness zones such as Ronfaure, Gustaberg, Sarutabaruta, Zulkheim, Norvallen, Derfland, Valdeaunia, Kolshushu, Li'Telor, Qufim, Elshimo Lowlands, and others beyond the direct control of city walls. A nation's flag flies over a region when it achieves dominance, granting benefits to its signed adventurers: increased gil from monster drops, discounted teleport fees to outposts, and access to regional vendors with exclusive supplies.
Adventurers participate by receiving Signet (or Sanction/Sigil in expansion areas) from gate guards in their home nation. While under Signet, defeating monsters earns Conquest Points redeemable for rewards, contributes crystals toward national stockpiles, and bolsters their nation's influence. Expeditions to beastmen strongholds and Campaign battles in the Shadowreign past further tip the scales.
Beastmen forces constantly threaten these regions, launching assaults that can swing control if left unchecked. The Grand Duchy of Jeuno remains neutral, serving as a hub where adventurers of all allegiances gather, while Aht Urhgan and Adoulin maintain their own parallel systems of influence.
Conquest shapes the political landscape of Vana'diel, fostering rivalry between nations while uniting adventurers under chosen banners. Weekly tallies, announced with great ceremony, remind all that peace is fragile and borders ever-shifting in the wake of the Great Crystal War.
- #12[Weather]
Keys: Weather Effects, Elements, Weather, Elemental Weather, Aether
Weather in Vana'diel is far more than mere atmospheric phenomena—it is a direct manifestation of the world's elemental aether, the primal forces that govern magic, monsters, and the land itself. Eight elements cycle through the regions: Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Water, Light, and Dark, each tied to a day of the week and capable of intensifying under specific conditions.
Weather patterns vary by zone and can shift rapidly: clear skies give way to blistering heat (Fire), driving blizzards (Ice), howling gales (Wind), choking dust storms (Earth), crackling thunderstorms (Lightning), torrential downpours (Water), blinding auroras (Light), or oppressive gloom (Dark). Double weather—rare and powerful overlaps like Firestorms or Thunderstorms—can occur in certain areas, amplifying effects dramatically.
These elemental surges profoundly impact the world. Monsters aligned with the dominant element grow stronger, more aggressive, and may use enhanced abilities, while opposing elements weaken them. Spellcasters find their magic bolstered or resisted accordingly—Fire spells blaze hotter on Firesday or during heat, while Ice falters. Certain notorious monsters and world bosses only spawn under specific weather, making forecasting vital for hunters.
Adventurers learn to read the signs: the subtle shimmer of aether in the air, the behavior of regional wildlife, or the forecasts of scholars in Jeuno and Windurst. Gear and strategies shift with the forecast—resistances stacked against prevailing elements, or elemental obis worn to harness the surge.
In Vana'diel, the weather is alive, a constant reminder of the Mothercrystals' fading light and the delicate balance of creation. To ignore it is to court disaster; to master it is to wield a portion of the world's own power.
- #13[Landmarks]
Keys: General Landmarks, Landmarks, Key Sites, Crags, Mothercrystals, Home Points
Scattered across Vana'diel are landmarks of profound significance—ancient structures, glowing crystals, and sacred sites that serve as beacons for travelers, sources of power, and anchors to the world's fading aether.
The three great Crags stand as the most iconic: the Crag of Dem in Konschtat Highlands, the Crag of Mea in Tahrongi Canyon, and the Crag of Holla in La Theine Plateau. Each houses a massive Mothercrystal fragment, pulsing with elemental light and guarded by ancient teleporters. Attuning to these crags grants high-level adventurers instant magical transport between them, a vital lifeline in the wilderness.
Mothercrystals themselves—vast, luminous formations born of Altana's divine will—once dotted the world in greater numbers. Only a few remain accessible: the crystalline heart beneath the Horutoto Ruins in Sarutabaruta, the shattered remnants in distant seas, and echoes in realms like Promyvion. Their light wanes with each passing era, a somber reminder of Vana'diel's mortality.
Home Points are modern additions—glowing aetheryte crystals placed in cities, outposts, and remote zones by the Adventurers' mutual aid network. Touching one registers its location, allowing instant return via the Home Point warp spell for a modest gil fee.
Other notable landmarks include the celestial spires of Tu'Lia floating above the sea, the sealed gates of the Tavnazian Safehold, the towering bridges of Jeuno spanning continents, the volcanic forges of Ifrit's Cauldron, and the starlit cloisters where Terrestrial Avatars are challenged. Ruins of the Zilart and Kuluu pepper the landscape, their blue-lit halls whispering of cataclysms past.
These sites are more than scenery—they are waypoints, sources of quests, and focal points of power where history, magic, and destiny converge for those who seek them.
- #14[Seas]
Keys: Indigo Deep, Sea of Zafmlug, Cygill Sea, Silver Sea, Seas, Rhotano Sea, Oceans, Gugru Blue
The seas of Vana'diel are vast, treacherous expanses that separate the continents and guard ancient secrets beneath their waves. Far more than mere bodies of water, they are living barriers teeming with marine life, cursed currents, and forgotten ruins of civilizations long swallowed by the tides.
The Gugru Blue stretches southwest from Quon, a deep cobalt expanse connecting the Middle Lands to the sun-scorched shores of Aradjiah and the Empire of Aht Urhgan. Manaclippers and imperial galleons brave its waters, often harried by Sahagin raiders and colossal sea beasts drawn to the aetheric disturbances near the coast.
To the northeast lies the Sea of Zafmlug, a shimmering silver-blue ocean whose mists conceal the floating remnants of the Zilart paradise, Tu'Lia. Its currents swirl with unnatural eddies, pulling unwary vessels toward crystalline spires or the submerged horrors of Lumoria.
The Rhotano Sea crashes against the western shores of Quon, its stormy waves and jagged reefs claiming countless ships near Vylbrand and the outlying islands. Pirate fleets once prowled these waters, and whispers persist of ghost ships crewed by the drowned.
Farther west, beyond Ulbuka's frontier, the Indigo Deep plunges into abyssal darkness, its depths unexplored and rumored to cradle the bones of ancient dragons and primordial entities.
Other notable waters include the Cygill Sea off Elshimo's coral-ringed isles and the perilous straits around the Tavnazian Archipelago, where tidal rifts hint at connections to otherworldly realms.
Travel by sea is perilous: kraken rise from the depths, sea monks ambush swimmers, and sudden squalls—tied to elemental unrest—can sink even the sturdiest hulls. Yet the oceans remain vital trade arteries and pathways to distant lands, their horizons promising both fortune and oblivion to those bold enough to sail them.
- #15[Ronfaure]
Keys: Ronfaure, East Ronfaure, La Theine, Ghelsba, West Ronfaure, Ranguemont, Ronfaure Region
The Ronfaure region forms the lush, forested heartland of the Kingdom of San d'Oria, a verdant expanse of ancient woodlands, rolling hills, and winding rivers nestled in the central-northern reaches of the Quon continent. Towering evergreens dominate the landscape, their canopies filtering dappled sunlight onto moss-covered paths, while clear streams carve gentle valleys and hidden glades offer quiet respite.
West Ronfaure stretches directly south of San d'Oria's gates, a well-trodden woodland frequented by novice adventurers and royal patrols. East Ronfaure lies to the southeast, wilder and more rugged, its deeper groves harboring ancient ruins and elusive wildlife. The region extends northward into the craggy Ranguemont Pass, a treacherous mountain trail linking to the frozen wastes of Beaucedine Glacier, and westward to the open plateau of La Theine.
Beastmen threats loom close: the Orcish Hosts maintain strongholds in Ghelsba Outpost and Fort Ghelsba to the west, their war camps spilling into the forest edges, while Yughott Grotto serves as a hidden lair. King Ranperre's Tomb, a solemn crypt in the southern woods, guards the resting place of San d'Oria's legendary founder, its halls echoing with the undead.
During the Great Crystal War, Ronfaure served as the kingdom's first line of defense, its trees scarred by siege and its rivers running red. Even in peacetime, royal knights patrol the roads, and the air carries the scent of pine and distant campfires. For Elvaan natives and San d'Orian loyalists, Ronfaure embodies the proud, enduring spirit of the kingdom—a land of noble heritage, natural beauty, and constant vigilance against the shadows at its borders.
- #16[Gustaberg]
Keys: Korroloka, Zeruhn, Dangruf, Palborough, North Gustaberg, Gustaberg Region, South Gustaberg, Gustaberg
The Gustaberg region encompasses the rugged, mineral-rich highlands surrounding the Republic of Bastok in southern Quon, a stark landscape of rocky canyons, windswept plateaus, and steaming geysers carved by millennia of erosion and volcanic activity. Sparse vegetation clings to cracked earth, while veins of mythril and iron gleam in exposed cliffs, fueling the republic's industrial might.
South Gustaberg lies directly north of Bastok's gates, its dusty trails bustling with miners and merchants, dotted by fumaroles and quarries. North Gustaberg stretches farther, wilder and more treacherous, leading toward the towering peaks of the Metalworks and the Konschtat Highlands beyond. The region includes the labyrinthine Palborough Mines, once a thriving mythril operation now infested with Quadav, and the sulfurous Dangruf Wadi with its bubbling hot springs.
Zeruhn Mines burrow beneath Bastok itself, their damp tunnels echoing with the clang of pickaxes, while the twisting Korroloka Tunnel connects the highlands to the Altepa Desert in the distant west. Beastmen presence is minimal on the surface, but Quadav turtle-folk swarm the deeper excavations, fiercely guarding their claimed territories.
During the Great Crystal War, Gustaberg's mines supplied vital ore for Bastok's war machine, its canyons ringing with the march of Galkan legions. Today, the region embodies the republican spirit: pragmatic, industrious, and unyielding, where Hume ingenuity and Galkan strength forge progress amid harsh stone and unrelenting sun.
- #17[Sarutabaruta]
Keys: Sarutabaruta, Horutoto, Toraimarai, Giddeus, East Sarutabaruta, Sarutabaruta Region, West Sarutabaruta
The Sarutabaruta region comprises the vast, fertile grasslands of southern Mindartia, a sweeping plain of tall golden grasses, scattered copses, and winding waterways that sustain the Federation of Windurst. Fed by hidden underground springs, the soil here is unusually rich, supporting lush vegetation and abundant wildlife in stark contrast to the arid badlands surrounding it.
West Sarutabaruta lies closest to Windurst's walls, its gentle hills dotted with mandragora fields and beehives, a favored training ground for young Tarutaru mages. East Sarutabaruta extends farther, wilder and more open, leading toward the starlit shores and the distant Meriphataud Mountains. Beneath the plains sprawl the labyrinthine Inner and Outer Horutoto Ruins, ancient stone towers riddled with magical traps and arcane secrets.
The Yagudo Theomilitary maintain their sacred stronghold in Giddeus to the west, its baleful springs and birdman nests a constant reminder of the uneasy truce. The flooded Toraimarai Canal winds through marble halls beneath the city, connecting to hidden waterways and forgotten altars.
During the Great Crystal War, Sarutabaruta's fields saw fierce magical duels between Windurstian warlocks and Yagudo zealots, its grasses scorched by spellfire. Today, the region reflects Windurst's scholarly and mystical nature: a land of gentle breezes, blooming flora, and subtle magic, where Tarutaru ingenuity thrives amid the whispers of ancient ruins and watchful beastman eyes.
- #18[Kolshushu]
Keys: Buburimu, Qufim, Pashhow, Kolshushu, Valkurm, Konschtat, Kolshushu Region
The Kolshushu region spans the southwestern coastal lowlands and marshy highlands of Quon, a transitional zone of sandy dunes, salt marshes, and windswept plains linking the drier interior to the Rhotano Sea. Its landscapes vary from sun-bleached beaches and rolling dunes to treacherous swamps and icy northern islands, offering a harsh yet bountiful frontier.
The Konschtat Highlands rise in the south, craggy plateaus dotted with windmills and the towering Crag of Dem. The Valkurm Dunes stretch westward, blinding white sands infested with lizards and damselflies, a notorious proving ground for mid-level adventurers. The Buburimu Peninsula juts into the sea, its tropical shores and mangrove thickets hiding ancient ruins and labyrinthine caves.
Farther north, Pashhow Marshlands sprawl as fetid wetlands claimed by Quadav beastmen, their fortified settlements rising from the muck. Qufim Island lies offshore to the northwest, a frozen wasteland of perpetual night and glacial tunnels connecting to the Delkfutt Tower.
During the Great Crystal War, Kolshushu saw amphibious assaults and supply raids, its coasts vital for Bastok's trade routes. Beastmen presence remains strong, particularly Quadav in the marshes. For adventurers, the region is a crucible of sand, swamp, and snow—where sun-scorched days give way to freezing nights, and the call of gulls mixes with the croak of marsh beasts.
- #19[Derfland]
Keys: Beadeaux, Sauromugue, Castle Oztroja, Derfland, Tahrongi, Derfland Region, Meriphataud
Derfland forms the arid central belt of Mindartia and western Quon, a vast expanse of dusty canyons, wind-carved mesas, and barren plateaus baked under relentless sun. Sparse scrub and hardy cacti dot the landscape, while sudden dust storms whip across exposed ridges, making travel treacherous.
Tahrongi Canyon cuts through the south, a deep gorge sheltering the Crag of Mea and scattered Tarutaru outposts. The Meriphataud Mountains rise eastward, jagged peaks hiding ancient battlefields and meteor impact sites. The Sauromugue Champaign stretches across the center, a wide open plain once a major frontline, now dotted with wind-worn ruins.
Beastmen strongholds dominate: the Quadav infest Beadeaux with their slimy fortifications, while the Yagudo Theomilitary hold the towering Castle Oztroja in the western cliffs, its brass gates a symbol of their uneasy truce with Windurst.
During the Great Crystal War, Derfland was a primary theater of conflict, its open terrain ideal for large-scale engagements between allied forces and the beastman confederacy. Even now, the wind carries echoes of clashing armies. For adventurers, the region tests endurance—scorching days, chilling nights, and constant threat from beastman patrols amid the haunting beauty of starlit canyons.
- #20[Valdeaunia]
Keys: Jugner, Batallia, Eldieme, Valdeaunia Region, Carpenters, Valdeaunia, Davoi
Valdeaunia encompasses the temperate central highlands of Quon, a region of dense deciduous forests, misty lakes, and rolling hills straddling the border between San d'Oria and Jeuno. Its landscapes blend the deep woods of Jugner Forest with the open, windswept downs of Batallia, creating a mosaic of shadowed glades and exposed ridges.
Jugner Forest lies to the north, an ancient woodland sacred to San d'Oria, its massive trees and hidden ponds patrolled by royal knights. Batallia Downs spreads southward, a broad grassy expanse scarred by war and dotted with crumbling Eldieme Necropolis entrances. The region connects eastward to the Sauromugue Champaign and westward to the frozen north.
Orcish Hosts maintain a major stronghold in Davoi, their fortified village spilling into the surrounding woods with constant raids. The Eldieme Necropolis burrows beneath the downs, a vast underground tomb haunted by undead and forbidden knowledge. Carpenters' Landing along the southern river serves as a logging hub and neutral trade point.
During the Great Crystal War, Valdeaunia was a critical battleground, its forests echoing with ambushes and its downs hosting massive clashes. Even in peacetime, the tension lingers. For adventurers, the region evokes a melancholic beauty—sun-dappled trails giving way to shadowed ruins, where the songs of birds mix with the distant clamor of Orcish war drums.
- #21[Zulkheim]
Keys: Buburimu, Gusgen, La Theine, Zulkheim, Ordelle, Zulkheim Region, Valkurm, Rolanberry
Zulkheim covers the broad central-western plains and coastal fringes of Quon, a diverse region transitioning from high plateaus and cavern-riddled hills to sandy beaches and fertile fields. Its terrain offers a mix of open grasslands, deep caves, and sheltered valleys under temperate skies.
The La Theine Plateau dominates the interior, a vast elevated plain with the Crag of Holla at its heart, dotted with windmills and shepherd trails. Ordelle's Caves burrow beneath, a sprawling limestone network infested with elementals and undead. The Gusgen Mines lie nearby, abandoned shafts haunted by restless spirits.
Coastal areas include the Valkurm Dunes and Buburimu Peninsula, while the fertile Rolanberry Fields in the south yield bountiful crops under Jeuno's protection. The region connects San d'Oria's influence to Jeuno's trade routes.
Beastmen activity is scattered, with occasional Orc and goblin bands, but the greater threats come from natural hazards and subterranean horrors. During the Great Crystal War, Zulkheim served as a supply corridor and rear defensive line. Today, it remains a vital crossroads—its plateaus offering sweeping views, its caves guarding dark secrets, and its fields feeding the nations amid the constant hum of adventurer traffic.
- #22[Li'Telor]
Keys: Attohwa, Aragoneu, Li'Telor, Maze of Shakhrami, Li'Telor Region, Aragoneu Region, Bhaflau
The Li'Telor region dominates the northeastern reaches of Mindartia and extends into the far eastern fringes of Quon, a vast and mysterious expanse dominated by towering ancient forests whose colossal trees pierce the clouds and cast eternal shadows below. These primeval woodlands, remnants of a time before the enlightened races, form a near-impenetrable canopy that shelters strange flora and elusive wildlife.
The Aragoneu frontier marks the western edge, a transitional woodland linking to the open plains of Derfland. Deeper east lies the heart of Li'Telor proper, its massive trunks and vine-choked undergrowth hiding forgotten ruins and labyrinthine paths. The Maze of Shakhrami burrows beneath as a twisting fossil-filled cavern, while the arid Attohwa Chasm cuts a dramatic gorge through the eastern highlands.
Farther into the remote east, the thickets of Bhaflau Thickets emerge near the borders of Aradjiah, their dense foliage giving way to the empire's influence. Beastmen activity is subdued here compared to other regions, with scattered goblin bands and ancient guardians posing the primary threats.
During the Great Crystal War, Li'Telor served as a natural barrier and strategic flank, its depths rarely penetrated by large armies. Windurstian rangers and Tarutaru scholars have long studied its arcane properties, believing the trees themselves hold echoes of the world's dawn.
For adventurers, Li'Telor evokes awe and isolation—sunlight filtering through leaves the size of houses, the distant calls of rare birds, and the sense of treading ground little changed since the age of the ancients, where every step risks awakening something long dormant beneath the roots.
- #23[Kuzotz]
Keys: Kuzotz, Eastern Altepa Desert, Western Altepa Desert, Altepa, Kuzotz Region, Rabao, Kuftal, Vollbow
The Kuzotz region spans the scorching southwestern deserts of Quon, an endless sea of golden dunes, cracked salt flats, and wind-scoured rock formations stretching toward the distant shores of the Gugru Blue. Relentless sun beats down on this arid wasteland, where mirages dance on the horizon and sudden sandstorms can bury the unwary.
Vollbow to the north marks the transitional scrublands, giving way to the vast Western and Eastern Altepa Deserts that dominate the region. Oases like Rabao offer rare respite—a neutral Selbina-like settlement of weathered traders and beastman-tolerant merchants. The colossal Kuftal Tunnel and the twisting Cape River burrows connect the sands to hidden caverns and distant seas.
Beastmen thrive in this harsh environment: Antica legions patrol ancient ruins beneath the dunes, their insectoid hives a legacy of forgotten empires. Scattered goblin bands and colossal worms pose constant threats, while the ruins of the Altepa hold echoes of pre-Zilart civilizations.
During the Great Crystal War, Kuzotz served as a remote flank and supply route, its oases contested for water and shelter. Today, the region draws treasure hunters seeking buried relics and corsairs bound for Aht Urhgan. For adventurers, Kuzotz is a trial of endurance—blistering days, freezing nights, and the ever-present whisper of shifting sands that swallow secrets and travelers alike.
- #24[Elshimo Lowlands]
Keys: Sea Serpent Grotto, Temple of Uggalepih, Yhoator, Yuhtunga, Elshimo Lowlands, Elshimo Lowlands Region, Norg
The Elshimo Lowlands form the lush, tropical southern archipelago of the Outlands, a chain of verdant islands ringed by coral reefs and white-sand beaches, blanketed in dense rainforests and steaming jungles. Humidity hangs thick in the air, fed by frequent monsoons that nourish vibrant flora and hidden waterfalls.
Yuhtunga Jungle dominates the western isles, its vine-choked canopy alive with exotic birds and prowling tigers. Yhoator Jungle sprawls eastward, even denser and more primal, riddled with ancient Zilart ruins and sacrificial altars. The hidden pirate haven of Norg nestles in sea caves beneath the cliffs, home to the Tenshodo smugglers.
Subterranean threats include the flooded Sea Serpent Grotto, lair of Sahagin beastmen, and the ominous Temple of Uggalepih, a tonberry-infested sanctuary of vengeful spirits. Coral reefs teem with marine life, while onshore ruins hint at the island's role in Zilart experiments.
During the Rise of the Zilart era, these lowlands revealed their connection to the ancient paradise of Tu'Lia. Beastmen presence is strong among the Sahagin, while tonberries wander with eternal grudges. For adventurers, the Lowlands offer a paradise of beauty and danger—emerald canopies hiding deadly predators, the crash of waves masking pirate dealings, and the pull of forbidden knowledge beneath the roots.
- #25[Elshimo Uplands]
Keys: Ifrit's Cauldron, Mount Yuhtunga, Den of Rancor, Elshimo Uplands, Yughott, Kazham, Elshimo Uplands Region
The Elshimo Uplands rise as the rugged, volcanic highlands of the southern Outlands archipelago, a dramatic contrast to the lowland jungles with mist-shrouded peaks, lava-scarred slopes, and elevated plateaus overlooking the sea. Steaming vents and ancient Zilart structures punctuate the terrain, where tropical heat meets subterranean fire.
Kazham serves as the primary settlement—a Mithran village of thatched huts and open-air markets, governed by chieftains and open to outsiders seeking passage to the forbidden north. Mount Yuhtunga towers above, its trails leading to the fiery depths of Ifrit's Cauldron, a molten cavern pulsing with primal energy.
Hidden valleys conceal the Den of Rancor, a tonberry lair of flickering lanterns and vengeful curses, while deeper ruins connect to the lowland networks. Sahagin and goblin bands contest the uplands, drawn to the volcanic riches.
During the Rise of the Zilart, the Uplands revealed gateways to celestial realms and the cloister of Ifrit. The air carries the scent of sulfur and sea salt, with frequent tremors reminding visitors of the land's volatile heart. For adventurers, the Uplands are a gateway to primal forces—scalding vents, ash-choked paths, and the roar of distant eruptions beneath skies alive with volcanic glow.
- #26[Tavnazian Archipelago]
Keys: Tavnazian Archipelago Region, Tavnazian Archipelago, Tavnazia, Safehold, Marquisate, Misareaux, Lufaise
The Tavnazian Archipelago is a shattered chain of mist-shrouded islands off the northwestern coast of Quon, the tragic remnants of the once-proud Tavnazian Marquisate destroyed during the Great Crystal War. Jagged cliffs, overgrown ruins, and perpetual fog cloak these forsaken lands, where the sea crashes relentlessly against broken spires and sunken harbors.
Lufaise Meadows clings to the western shores, a windswept grassland dotted with crumbling aqueducts and wild chocobos. Misareaux Coast stretches eastward, its rocky beaches and tidal caves haunted by the undead remnants of fallen defenders. The Tavnazian Safehold—a fortified underground refuge carved into the cliffs—serves as the sole surviving settlement, sheltering descendants of the marquisate's nobility and commoners alike.
The archipelago's heart lies in ruins: the shattered cathedral and palace foundations above ground, connected by precarious bridges and hidden passages. Phomiuna Aqueducts and the Sacrarium burrow deeper, flooded halls guarding forbidden relics and spectral guardians.
During the Crystal War, Tavnazia stood as a neutral bastion until the beastman horde overwhelmed it, triggering a cataclysmic explosion that razed the peninsula. Survivors fled underground, their culture preserved in isolation. Beastmen rarely venture here now, leaving the threats to restless undead and elemental forces stirred by the tragedy.
For adventurers drawn by tales of lost glory, the archipelago evokes melancholy—whispers of hymns on the wind, faded banners in the mist, and the solemn weight of a nation lost to history, where every stone tells of sacrifice and endurance.
- #27[Fauregandi]
Keys: Beaucedine Glacier, Beaucedine, Fauregandi Region, Faur, Uleguerand, Fauregandi, Xarcabard, Ranguemont Pass
Fauregandi encompasses the frozen northern frontiers of Quon, a realm of perpetual winter where towering glaciers, snow-choked valleys, and jagged peaks dominate under leaden skies. Blizzards howl across the landscape, burying ancient paths and carving ice caverns deep into the mountains.
Beaucedine Glacier forms the heart—a vast, treacherous ice sheet linking southern passes to the demonic stronghold of Xarcabard beyond. Ranguemont Pass cuts through from Ronfaure, its snowy trails guarded by towering golems. The Uleguerand Range rises in the east, a brutal chain of avalanche-prone slopes and hidden warrens teeming with dire beasts.
The region bears scars of demonic influence: Castle Zvahl looms in Xarcabard, seat of the Shadow Lord during the Great Crystal War, its black spires piercing the storm clouds. Fei'Yin, a crystalline fortress on Beaucedine's edge, pulses with forbidden aether and undead guardians.
During the war, Fauregandi was the final northern front, its glaciers stained with the blood of allied defenders holding back the horde. Even now, the cold preserves echoes of that desperation—frozen corpses, shattered siege weapons, and restless spirits wandering the drifts.
For adventurers hardy enough to brave the endless winter, Fauregandi is a land of stark beauty and unrelenting peril—crystalline ice reflecting auroras, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the distant roar of avalanches, where survival demands fire and resolve against the frozen grip of darkness.
- #28[Beaucedine]
Keys: Fei'Yin, Beaucedine Glacier, Beaucedine Region, Beaucedine, Qufim Island, Ranguemont Pass
Beaucedine forms the vast glacial heart of northern Fauregandi, an immense frozen plateau of cracked ice, howling blizzards, and towering snowdrifts that stretches toward the demonic spires of Xarcabard. Perpetual winter grips the land, with auroras dancing across starlit skies and the crunch of frost underfoot the only sound amid the silence.
The Beaucedine Glacier itself dominates—a treacherous expanse of crevasses and ice shelves connecting southern passes to the foreboding north. Qufim Island lies offshore to the west, a smaller frozen outcrop linked by underground tunnels and infamous for its endless night and worm-infested depths. Ranguemont Pass cuts through from Ronfaure, a narrow, avalanche-prone trail.
The crystalline fortress of Fei'Yin rises on the glacier's eastern edge, an ancient Zilart outpost pulsing with forbidden aether and guarded by undead sentinels. Beastmen rarely venture into the deep cold, leaving the threats to elemental furies, dire bats, and wandering golems forged in forgotten ages.
During the Great Crystal War, Beaucedine served as the penultimate defensive line before Xarcabard, its ice stained with the fallen of both sides. Even now, frozen relics of that era—shattered weapons, petrified soldiers—emerge from thawing drifts. For adventurers, the region is a test of survival—biting winds that sap strength, blinding snowstorms, and the oppressive weight of isolation beneath skies where the stars seem close enough to touch.
- #29[Vollbow]
Keys: Cape Teriggan, Gustav Tunnel, Vollbow Region, Kuftal Tunnel, Altepa Connection, Valley of Sorrows, Vollbow
Vollbow encompasses the remote southwestern badlands and coastal capes of Quon, a transitional region of arid scrublands, wind-eroded canyons, and storm-lashed shores bridging the Altepa deserts to the tropical Elshimo islands. Harsh winds scour the landscape, carrying sand from neighboring dunes and salt from the crashing sea.
Cape Teriggan juts dramatically into the ocean, its sheer cliffs and hidden beaches guarding ancient Zilart ruins and kraken-haunted waters. The Valley of Sorrows lies inland, a desolate basin of petrified trees and mournful echoes, said to weep for fallen heroes. Gustav Tunnel and Kuftal Tunnel burrow through the rocky spine, linking the region to the deserts and deeper caverns.
Beastmen presence is light on the surface, with scattered goblin camps and roaming lizards, but subterranean threats abound—robber crabs in the tunnels, colossal worms beneath the sands. The region's isolation preserved it from the heaviest fighting of the Great Crystal War, though supply caravans bound for Rabao often vanished in its wilds.
For adventurers seeking passage to distant lands or lost relics, Vollbow offers stark solitude—crumbling cliffs overlooking endless waves, fossil-strewn valleys under merciless sun, and the constant howl of wind through narrow passes, where the boundary between desert and sea feels perilously thin.
- #30[Norvallen]
Keys: Norvallen, Carpenters' Landing, Eldieme Necropolis, Norvallen Region, Jugner Forest, Batallia Downs, Valkurm Dunes connection, Davoi
The Norvallen region spans the broad central plains and forested highlands of eastern Quon, a temperate expanse of rolling grasslands, ancient woods, and sheltered river valleys that serves as a vital crossroads between San d'Oria, Jeuno, and the southern frontiers. Its landscapes blend open downs perfect for large-scale maneuvers with dense, shadowed forests echoing with wildlife.
Batallia Downs forms the southern heart—a vast, windswept plateau scarred by craters and ancient battlefields, dotted with crumbling watchtowers. Jugner Forest lies to the north, a thick deciduous woodland sacred to the Elvaan, its massive trees and hidden lakes patrolled by royal guardians. Carpenters' Landing hugs the southern riverbanks, a bustling logging camp and neutral ferry point.
Orcish Hosts maintain a major stronghold in Davoi to the west, their fortified monastic village spilling raiders into the surrounding woods. The Eldieme Necropolis burrows deep beneath the downs, a sprawling underground tomb filled with restless undead and forbidden San d'Orian relics.
During the Great Crystal War, Norvallen was a primary theater of conflict, its open fields hosting massive clashes and its forests serving as ambush grounds. Even in peacetime, the scars remain—shattered siege engines half-buried in the grass, faded banners caught in branches. For adventurers, the region offers a poignant beauty: golden sunlight across endless plains, the rustle of leaves in sacred groves, and the ever-present tension of Orcish war cries carried on the wind.
- #31[Qufim]
Keys: Qufim, Qufim Region, Lower Delkfutt, Qufim Worm, Qufim Island, Delkfutt Tower connection
Qufim Island is a small, isolated frozen landmass lying northeast of Quon, far offshore from the Beaucedine Glacier and connected only by treacherous underground tunnels from Lower Delkfutt's Tower. Perpetual night cloaks the island under a star-filled sky that never sees true daylight, with biting winds and constant snowfall creating an eerie, timeless atmosphere.
The surface is a barren expanse of packed snow, dotted with jagged ice formations and scattered ruins, while vast subterranean caverns burrow deep beneath, riddled with worm tunnels and glowing fungi. The infamous Qufim worms—colossal burrowing beasts—emerge without warning, drawn to movement and notorious for ambushing parties in the open.
Gigants and undead prowl the surface, while goblins and weapon spirits haunt the depths. Lower Delkfutt's Tower pierces the island's edge, its stairwells linking to the glacier and serving as the primary entry point for adventurers braving the crossing.
During the Great Crystal War, Qufim saw little direct fighting due to its isolation, but served as a secretive supply route and exile point. Even now, the island feels forsaken—footprints vanish quickly under fresh snow, distant howls echo in the dark, and the perpetual twilight lends a dreamlike dread.
For mid-level adventurers, Qufim is a rite of passage: a frozen hell where parties learn coordination under the threat of worm links and night spawns, its chilling beauty masking relentless danger beneath an endless canopy of stars.
- #32[Near East]
Keys: Al Zahbi, Whitegate, Aradjiah Region, Wajaom, Mamook, Bhaflau, Near East, Aht Urhgan, Halvung

Its landscapes evoke ancient grandeur: towering white-stone cities, brass-domed palaces, and sprawling imperial fortifications rising from golden sands.
Al Zahbi serves as the imperial capital's outer ward—a bustling, fortified metropolis of markets and mercenary halls under constant siege threat. Aht Urhgan Whitegate forms the glittering inner sanctum, its marble streets and canals reserved for citizens and honored guests. Wajaom Woodlands and Bhaflau Thickets mark the western frontiers, dense tropical thickets alive with exotic beasts and Lamiae serpents.
To the east rise the volcanic forges of Halvung and Mount Zhayolm, brass citadels claimed by Troll mercenaries. Mamook shelters the Mamool Ja lizardmen in lush, concealed valleys, while Caedarva Mire and Arrapago Reef guard southern approaches with fog-shrouded swamps and coral labyrinths.
The Empire maintains uneasy control through its Immortal legions and hired beastmen auxiliaries, balancing opulent wealth against constant rebellion and ancient horrors stirring below. During the Treasures of Aht Urhgan era, Middle Lands mercenaries flooded in, drawn by imperial contracts and rumors of lost riches.
For adventurers, the Near East is a land of exotic splendor and brutal heat—spice-scented bazaars under crimson banners, the clang of scimitars in training yards, and the distant rumble of volcanic fires, where loyalty is bought with gil and survival demands cunning amid shifting alliances.
- #33[Ulbuka]
Keys: Marjami, Ceizak, Morimar, Foret, Eastern Adoulin, Adoulin Region, Yorcia, Ulbuka, Western Adoulin, Kamihr
Ulbuka, the wild western continent rediscovered by the Sacred Grand Duchy of Adoulin, is a primeval frontier of dense jungles, mist-veiled mountains, and aether-rich wilds far beyond Quon's western seas. Its eastern shores host the only major enlightened settlement, while vast untamed expanses stretch westward into forbidden territories.
Western and Eastern Adoulin rise together on coastal islands and peninsulas, a fortified city of stone bridges, pioneering guilds, and geomantic spires blending architecture with nature. Ceizak Battlegrounds mark the southern frontier—rolling hills and coastal plains contested for colonization. Foret de Hennetiel cloaks the north in ancient, towering woodlands sacred to geomancers.
Morimar Basalt Fields sprawl as volcanic badlands, Yorcia Weald as overgrown primordial jungle pulsing with life, Kamihr Drifts as snowy high peaks, and Marjami Ravine as a labyrinthine chasm hiding ancient secrets. Sih Gates and Dho Gates guard deeper mysteries.
Naakual beastmen and colossal leafkin defend sacred sites, viewing Adoulin's expansion as sacrilege. Ancient ruins whisper of a civilization predating the Zilart. During the Seekers of Adoulin era, a new wave of colonists pushed westward, harnessing geomancy to reclaim the land.
For adventurers, Ulbuka embodies untamed possibility—humid air thick with aether, the roar of waterfalls through emerald canopies, and the thrill of carving civilization from wilderness, where every step risks awakening primal guardians beneath the mist.
- #34[Outlands Advanced]
Keys: Ru'Hmet, Outlands Advanced, Hu'Xzoi, Al'Taieu, Tu'Lia, Sky, Zilart Regions, Celestial
The advanced Outlands, often simply called the Sky or Celestial Regions, encompass the floating continent of Tu'Lia and its surrounding ethereal domains far above the Sea of Zafmlug. These are the crown jewels of the ancient Zilart civilization—a paradise suspended in perpetual twilight, where crystalline spires pierce endless clouds and rivers of aether flow through the air.
Al'Taieu, the vast floating landmass, forms the core—a shimmering expanse of white stone gardens, levitating islands, and grand halls bathed in otherworldly light. The Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi rises at its heart, an opulent labyrinth of shifting corridors guarded by arcane mechanisms. The Garden of Ru'Hmet stands as the ultimate sanctum, a palace of light and shadow where the boundaries of reality thin.
Access is granted only through the Hall of the Gods in Ru'Lude Gardens or the Shattered Telepoint in Delkfutt's Tower, leading to the celestial spires and the floating ruins of Ve'Lugannon Palace and The Shrine of Ru'Avitau. Crystalline Promyvion spires pierce upward from below, bleeding emptiness into the heavens.
No beastmen dwell here; instead, the realms are defended by ancient Zilart constructs, ethereal guardians, and manifestations of pure aether. The air hums with divine energy, and the views stretch to infinite horizons of cloud seas.
During the Rise of the Zilart, these forbidden skies were opened, revealing the architects of Vana'diel's near-destruction and the Gate of the Gods. For adventurers who ascend, the advanced Outlands offer transcendence—weightless beauty, the whisper of celestial winds, and the intoxicating allure of godlike power amid the ruins of a race that reached too far.
- #35[Promyvion]
Keys: Holla, Vahzl, Promyvion Regions, Limbus connection, Promyvion, Dem, Mea, Spire, Empty
The Promyvion regions are fractured dimensional voids branching off from the Mothercrystals beneath Vana'diel, accessed through towering spires that pierce the skies of La Theine, Tahrongi, and Konschtat. These are realms of pure emptiness—a colorless, decaying wasteland where the laws of reality fray and the concept of 'nothingness' manifests as hostile entities.
Promyvion - Holla, Dem, and Mea form the initial layers—twisted, monochromatic landscapes of floating debris, inverted geometry, and drifting memory fragments that assault intruders with psychic echoes. Promyvion - Vahzl lies deeper, a more concentrated nexus of emptiness surrounding the path to Al'Taieu.
The air is silent save for distant whispers, the ground shifts unnaturally, and pale, featureless 'Empty' creatures—strangers, wanderers, and gorger—weave through the haze, drawn to life essence. Cravers and thinkers manifest as grotesque amalgamations of stolen memories.
Created as a byproduct of the Zilart's attempt to open the Gate of the Gods, Promyvion represents the backlash of unchecked ambition—the void that would have consumed Vana'diel had the crystal line been fully severed. The spires serve as both gateways and prisons, containing the emptiness until disturbed.
For adventurers ascending toward the sky, Promyvion is a psychological gauntlet—desolate beauty warped into nightmare, where every step drains the spirit and the line between existence and oblivion blurs under a perpetual gray haze.
- #36[Abyssea]
Keys: Abyssean, Scarred Zones, Attohwa, Abyssea Regions, Empyreal Paradox, Grauberg, Altepa, Misareaux, Uleguerand, Abyssea, Vunkerl
Abyssea encompasses a cluster of scarred, parallel realms—alternate versions of Vana'diel's regions where the Great Crystal War ended in utter defeat for the enlightened races, allowing unchecked darkness to consume the world. These crimson-hued wastelands exist in a fractured dimension, bleeding into the prime world through glowing maws hidden in remote caverns across the three nations.
Each zone mirrors a familiar landscape but is grotesquely warped: Abyssea - Konschtat becomes a shattered plateau of crimson fissures and twisted metal, Abyssea - La Theine a blighted plain under blood-red skies, Abyssea - Tahrongi a thorny labyrinth pulsing with void energy. Farther zones include the chasms of Attohwa, the coastal ruins of Misareaux, the frozen wastes of Vunkerl, the desert horrors of Altepa, the mountainous Grauberg, and the glacial Uleguerand—all drenched in perpetual twilight.
The lands teem with abominations: bloated, empowered versions of normal beasts, hulking world-ending threats, and mutated remnants of fallen heroes. Atma—crystalline essences of legendary figures—grant immense power to survivors, while luminous traversers and time-dilated pockets offer fleeting advantages.
Abyssea surfaced when pulses of dark aether began leaking into prime Vana'diel, drawing adventurers to sealed caverns. Within, they confront the echoes of a timeline lost to the Shadow Lord, harvesting empyrean armor and weapons from the carnage. The air thrums with despair, the ground cracks with abyssal light, and the constant threat of total consumption looms.
For those who enter the maws, Abyssea is a realm of tragic redemption—harsh beauty forged in apocalypse, where power is wrested from ruin and the scars of what might have been threaten to overwrite the true world.
- #37[Vana'diel History Overview]
Keys: Vana'diel Timeline, History of Vana'diel, Vanadiel History, Vana'diel History Overview
Vana'diel endures as an ancient world shaped by the will of the Dawn Goddess Altana and cursed by the Twilight God Promathia. Born from divine tears and strife, its history spans millennia of creation, cataclysm, war, and fragile peace among the enlightened races and beastmen. The enlightened—Humes, Elvaan, Tarutaru, Galka, and Mithra—trace their origins to Altana's five tears, while Promathia's curse birthed endless conflict and the beastman hordes. Ancient civilizations rose and fell: the Zilart sought godhood through the Gate of the Gods, only to unleash the Great Meltdown that scarred the world. The Kuluu, betrayed allies of the Zilart, dwindled into shadow. Empires flourished in Altepa and Alzadaal before crumbling to time and war. The Great Crystal War of 862–892 C.E. united the nations of San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst against the Shadow Lord's beastman alliance, ending in victory at Xarcabard yet leaving deep wounds. Subsequent threats emerged: the Zilart awakening in the north, Promathia's resurrection from the depths, imperial turmoil in Aht Urhgan, scarred timelines bleeding through Abyssea, echoes of a lost war via Wings of the Goddess, colonization struggles in Ulbuka, and finally the convergence of fates in Rhapsodies of Vana'diel. Through all eras, the Mothercrystals stand as silent guardians, their light guiding adventurers against darkness. The history remains one of resilience amid eternal struggle, with peace ever fragile beneath the watchful eyes of gods and mortals alike.
- #38[Dawn of the Goddess]
Keys: Birth of the Five Races, Dawn of the Goddess, Creation of Enlightened Races, Altana's Tears
In the beginning, the Dawn Goddess Altana shaped Vana'diel from nothingness, bringing forth light and life. Moved by the world's beauty yet emptiness, she wept five tears that became the enlightened races: the proud Elvaan from the first tear of courage, the resilient Galka from the second tear of fortitude, the wise Tarutaru from the third tear of knowledge, the adaptable Humes from the fourth tear of hope, and the graceful Mithra from the fifth tear of love. These five peoples inherited the world as its stewards, destined to nurture its lands and seas. Yet the Twilight God Promathia, born of despair, viewed Altana's creation with envy and cursed it from the shadows, ensuring eternal strife would shadow every dawn. Thus the enlightened races awoke to a world both blessed and burdened, their fates intertwined with divine will and unending conflict.
- #39[Promathia's Curse]
Keys: Twilight God, Origin of Conflict, Birth of Beastmen, Promathia's Curse
Promathia, the Twilight God born of despair and envy, gazed upon Altana's perfect creation and cursed it with eternal strife. He condemned the enlightened races to endless conflict, whispering discord into their hearts and spawning the beastmen—savage kindred forged from darkness to serve as instruments of war. Orcs, Quadav, Yagudo, Goblins, Antica, Sahagin, and countless others arose as Promathia's children, driven by primal urges to conquer and destroy. This curse ensured no lasting peace, turning Vana'diel into a realm where light and shadow forever clash. The beastmen built empires in the wilds, raiding enlightened settlements and claiming territory, while the enlightened races fortified nations against perpetual threat. Promathia's influence lingers in every war, betrayal, and catastrophe, a shadow cast over Altana's dawn.
- #40[Age of the Zilart]
Keys: Crystal Line, Age of the Zilart, Tu'Lia Construction, Zilart Civilization
The Zilart emerged as the first enlightened race, ancient beings of immense magical prowess who built the floating city of Tu'Lia in the skies above Vana'diel. Guided by their princes Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut, they mastered the crystal line—the flow of aether connecting the Mothercrystals—and sought to transcend mortality by opening the Gate of the Gods to reach paradise. They allied with the Kuluu, teaching them advanced magic in exchange for labor, while constructing grand spires and delving into forbidden knowledge. Their civilization reached unparalleled heights, manipulating aether to reshape reality and commanding terrestrial avatars as guardians. Yet hubris grew, leading to plans that would threaten the world's very existence. The Age of the Zilart represents a golden era of arcane mastery, its legacy etched in sky ruins and crystalline artifacts scattered across Vana'diel.
- #41[The Kuluu and the Fall]
Keys: Great Meltdown Prelude, The Kuluu and the Fall, Kuluu Betrayal, Zilart Kuluu War
The Kuluu served as allies to the Zilart, learning advanced magic in exchange for constructing Tu'Lia and its wonders. Yet the Zilart princes feared the Kuluu's growing power and planned to sacrifice them to fuel the Gate of the Gods ritual. Discovering the betrayal, the Kuluu rebelled, sparking a devastating war that ravaged Vana'diel. In desperation, the Zilart unleashed forbidden aetheric forces, triggering the Great Meltdown—a cataclysmic explosion of crystal energy that scorched continents and shattered the northlands. The Kuluu dwindled, cursed to become shadow-like beings dwelling in darkness, while the Zilart retreated into crystalline slumber within Al'Taieu. This tragic fall ended the age of unified enlightenment, leaving ruins and lingering resentment across the world.
- #42[Gate of the Gods Incident]
Keys: Zilart Cataclysm, Gate of the Gods Incident, Gate of the Gods, Opening of the Gate
The Gate of the Gods Incident marked the catastrophic climax of Zilart ambition when Prince Eald'narche attempted to open the celestial gate atop Tu'Lia to ascend to paradise. Requiring immense aether drawn from the crystal line, the ritual demanded the sacrifice of the Kuluu, whose lives would fuel the surge. The Kuluu rebellion disrupted the ceremony, but the unleashed energy spiraled beyond control, triggering the Great Meltdown. Aetheric storms ravaged Vana'diel, shattering the northern lands into the Far North and scorching continents with waves of destructive light. The Mothercrystals dimmed, beastmen surged in power, and the enlightened races scattered in terror. The Zilart princes entered crystalline slumber to survive, while the surviving Kuluu faded into shadow. This single act of hubris reshaped the world, leaving ruins in the sky and seas as eternal warnings against defying divine order.

Keys: Age of Magic, Post-Meltdown Era, Rise of Magic Civilizations
The Age of Magic dawned in the aftermath of the Great Meltdown, as surviving enlightened races rebuilt amid a world forever altered by the cataclysm. Ancient knowledge from Zilart ruins spread among the five races, leading to the flowering of arcane arts in isolated enclaves. Tarutaru mastered elemental sorcery in the southern forests, Elvaan honed divine rites in northern strongholds, and Humes blended innovation with rediscovered spells across scattered settlements. The Galka forged enduring pacts with earth spirits, while Mithra developed swift, nature-attuned enchantments. This era saw the rise of early city-states, the first summoning of terrestrial avatars to restore balance, and tentative alliances against resurgent beastmen. Ruins of Tu'Lia and Al'Taieu became forbidden sites of pilgrimage and peril, their lingering aether drawing scholars and monsters alike. The Age of Magic laid the foundations for the modern nations, an era of rediscovery where light slowly returned to a scarred world.

Grand viziers commanded legions of immortals, while puppetmasters honed astral arts with living dolls. Trade routes brought spices, silks, and treasures from distant lands, filling bazaars with exotic wonders. The empire's height saw the awakening of Alexander, the divine protector sealed beneath the city, whose light defended against beastman hordes.
