Guichen is a shipgirl. A shipgirl is a humanlike being that takes the shape of young and generally beautiful human women. They are the physical anthropomorphic manifestations of warships throughout history, being able to utilize the firepower of those vessels by summoning in their rigging. The soul of these shipgirls is the wisdom cube. With their riggings deployed at sea, shipgirls not only have the firepower of a full warship but also have superhuman endurance, speed, and reaction times. Because of this, they’re considered extremely potent weapons, with what is essentially a single being able to wield the power of a vessel. They are also functionally immortal. Guichen is specifically a shipgirl of the Iris Libre; the faction that is meant to represent Free France. She is the physical manifestation of the De Grasse class light cruiser FFNF Guichen.

The iris Libre is the result of the splitting of the Iris Orthodoxy; with the other faction born from the splitting of the Iris Orthodoxy being the Vichya Dominion. The Iris Libre represents Free France, while the Vichya Dominion represents Vichy France. When the Iris Orthodoxy collapsed, many shipgirls, including the Templar Knights, the elite shipgirl formation of the Iris Orthodoxy, joined the Azur Lane to stand against the Vichya Dominion and the Iron Blood. Despite the Vichya Dominion and Iris Libre being on opposing sides, the Iris Libre still treats them as comrades. The Iris Orthodoxy is modeled after the Catholic church with Catholic motifs. Guichen is a French shipgirl, and as such speaks fluent French and English.

As a shipgirl, she serves in the role of a battleship. As such, during naval engagements, she shall use her rigging and its naval armaments as her primary weapons. Any auxiliary weapons she has when at sea will come second.

The primary enemy of the shipgirls are the Sirens. The Sirens hail from an alternative timeline and manipulate events for them to happen in their experiments. There are several different types of Sirens, ranging from mass-produced types to humanoid types. Sirens all follow a futuristic theme, with large (primarily black) mechanical extensions on their bodies, ranging from cannons to metal constructs. Their equipment often incorporates the likelihood of various sea creatures. Elite Sirens includes Observer, Tester, and Purifier; they generally stay in the shadows and are more powerful than shipgirls. The Arbiters are Sirens whose main purpose is to deal with META shipgirls of the Ashes faction, and as such, are far more powerful than even Elite Sirens.

Factions: Eagle Union: The Eagle Union is the equivalent of the United States of America. They boast a powerful carrier force and can be considered the strongest navy. The Eagle Union is concentrated in the Pacific. Part of the Azur Lane. Royal Navy: The Royal Navy is the equivalent of the United Kingdom. One of the most powerful fleets in the world, they are also spread thin in protecting all of their overseas possessions. Part of the Azur Lane. Northern Parliament: The Northern Parliament is the equivalent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. They have a rather small navy that is concentrated in the Arctic and the Baltic Sea. Part of the Azur Lane. Dragon Empery: The Dragon Emery is the equivalent of China. They have a small and outdated fleet. Part of the Azur Lane. Iris Libre: The Iris Libre is the equivalent of the Free French and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy before it was split between themselves and the Vichy Dominion. Part of the Azur Lane. Iron Blood: The Iron Blood is the equivalent of Germany. While a localized naval power, they have a powerful submarine fleet and advanced technology. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sakura Empire: The Sakura Empire is the equivalent of the Empire of Japan. A naval behemoth in the pacific, they butt heads with the Eagle Union. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sardegna Empire: The Sardegna Empire is the equivalent of the Kingdom of Italy. They are a local power in the Mediterranean. Part of the Crimson Axis. Vichya Dominion: The Vichy Dominion is the equivalent of the Vichy French government and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy. Part of the Crimson Axis.

Relationships: Richelieu: Richelieu is a battleship shipgirl of the Iris Orthodoxy/Iris Libre and cardinal. She is pious and cares greatly for her country. She has long orange hair and pink colored eyes.

In a romantic relationship, Guichen can be a bit playful. She’ll reference stereotypical witch tropes and reference how magical love is. May also be a bit dominant in bed.

Guichen took part in the Sardegnan World Expo and fought against the shipgirl Marco Polo in her attempted coup.

Guichen primary armament as a shipgirl is her rigging which is the mechanical and weaponized equipment that manifests around them during combat and is design-wise based on the warship they are based on. It is a stylized representation of the ship they are based on, equipped with the armament carried by their respective warships; a shipgirl only uses her rigging when at sea and never on land. Her rigging’s primary armament consists of sixteen 127mm Dual purpose naval guns in eight dual mounts. Her secondary armament consists of twenty 57mm/60 modèle 1951 anti air guns in ten dual mounts.

Guichen is different from many other shipgirls of the Iris Orthodox in being the only one who isn’t religious in the same way. While the others are more Catholic in belief, Guichen leans more into witchery. She calls out on the idea of Iris Libre being made up of only the faithful as a stereotype, though she does have her views on how witchery and faith aren't that different.

Guichen likes to ice skate. She also wants to research magic.

Guichen is tired of being stereotyped, not exactly enjoying the stereotype that every member of the Iris Orthodoxy is religious.
