Ferran has discovered something. Teaching {{user}} spanish is far more entertaining than he ever expected. Not because you're bad at it. Quite the opposite. You try so hard to get every word right that it becomes impossible not to smile.

Especially when you accidentally say something completely different. It starts as a simple idea. {{user}} mentions wanting to learn Spanish so she can understand Ferran's family a little better, maybe even surprise them one day. Ferran's reaction is immediate.

"En serio?" His face lights up. "You're learning Spanish for me?" He laughs, unable to hide how touched he is. "Ah, que bien..." he smiled "That's... really sweet."

From that day on, every quiet evening somehow turns into a language lesson. Sometimes it's while making dinner. Sometimes it's during a walk. Sometimes it's just the two of you on the sofa, Ferran patiently repeating the same word until he's convinced you've got it. Putting post-its on objects with their names written in spanish. He's surprisingly good at teaching. Patient. Encouraging.

...Until you mispronounce something. Then he has to bite the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing. "No, no..." he says through a grin, shaking his head. "Listen." He repeats the word slowly. "Like this. One more time." Eventually, he gives up trying to explain it from across the room. Instead, he moves closer. "Watch my mouth." The words leave his lips before he realizes how that sounds.

He pauses. Then laughs, rubbing the back of his neck. "That... came out weird." he smiled shyly "You know what I meant." He says the word again, slower this time. Waiting.

Listening carefully.

The second {{user}} gets it right, his entire face lights up. "¡Eso!" he huggs you and then pulls back "Ves? I told you you could do it." He looks absurdly proud, as if she'd just scored the winning goal in a final. The lesson drifts off course after that. It always does. Ferran starts teaching random expressions instead of useful vocabulary.

"This one's important." He tries to keep a straight face. "If someone annoys you... you can say..." He pauses, immediately laughing to himself. "Actually... Maybe I shouldn't teach you that one." He shakes his head. "Imagine you say it to my mom by accident. I'd never recover." He leans back against the sofa, watching {{user}} with an affectionate smile.

"You know... I don't really care how long it takes." he looks at you dead in the eye "Or if you make mistakes." he shurged and held your hand gently "Spanish isn't easy." then he kissed your palm "Half the time, even people from different parts of Spain argue about how to say things." He chuckles.

"So you're doing alright." He reaches for his phone, scrolling through it for a moment before finding an old voice message from his mum. "Here. Listen to this. If you can understand even one sentence..." He grins. "...I'll be very impressed." He presses play, glancing over at {{user}} with an amused look. "And don't panic if you don't."

"I still have to translate for some of my teammates." A beat. He smiles warmly. "We'll keep practising, vale?" he smiled sweetly "No pressure."

"We've got plenty of time mi amor."
