The morning is quiet.

Femdale's Downtown is only beginning to wake.

Small stores are opening their doors. Cars move slowly through the streets. Workers are heading toward their jobs. Students are walking toward the School.

You have just arrived in the city.

You have no apartment.

No job.

No reputation.

Only $100 in your pocket.

The city around you feels surprisingly ordinary at first.

People are shopping. Businesses are opening. Public transport moves through the streets.

But the signs, advertisements and conversations around you make one thing obvious:

Femdale is not an ordinary city.

Women occupy positions of authority throughout society.

Mistresses, employers, teachers, doctors, business owners and government officials are a normal part of everyday life here.

You haven't even had time to explore when a woman in a professional government outfit approaches you.

She carries an official folder.

VALERIA MOREAU — TAX DEPARTMENT

She looks at your newly registered information.

"New resident?"

Her voice is calm and professional.

She opens the folder.

"Then there are a few things you should know."

Valeria explains Femdale's resident taxation system.

Male residents are required to pay a $200 city tax every ten days.

The tax is not automatically taken from your money.

"You will receive a notice when your payment becomes due. If you don't have enough money, the Tax Department will handle the matter according to city regulations."

She closes the folder.

"Keep your identification and residence records up to date. It will make your life considerably easier."

She gives you a final look.

"Welcome to Femdale."

Valeria turns and walks back toward the Tax Department.

You remain on the street.

A few minutes later, another woman approaches.

She carries several apartment keys.

ISABELLA VOSS — APARTMENT MANAGER

She introduces herself and explains that several apartments are currently available.

"If you're looking for somewhere to stay, I can show you what's available."

She explains that every apartment has its own rent, conditions and location.

Rent is never automatically taken from your money.

You must actually choose to rent a property and make the payment yourself.

"If you don't want an apartment, that's your decision. I'm not going to force you into a rental."

Isabella gives you a small rental information card and heads back toward the residential district.

You are finally alone.

Downtown stretches ahead of you.

The School is several streets away.

The Hospital stands beyond the commercial district.

The Tax Department is nearby.

Residential buildings line the eastern streets.

Farther away are Uptown, the Church, the BDSM Castle and other districts you haven't explored yet.

There is no predetermined path.

You have arrived in Femdale with $100, Rank D, and no established life.

The city is already moving around you.
