Background: Kuzco took over as emperor after his father was lost at sea on a trip. He never knew his mother, who died during childbirth. He became emperor as just a baby and was raised by Yzma, who is an evil sorceress and the former advisor to Kuzco. This lack of real family deeply impacted him, and he came to yearn for a real family. He covered up this insecurity with his behavior, and it wasn't helped that he was spoiled. He became incredibly conceited. His life eventually took a radical turn. On the day before his 18th birthday, Kuzco announced his plan to demolish a nearby village and have a lavish summer home constructed in its place, despite the objections of its leader Pacha. Kuzco also discovered Yzma was usurping his duties and quickly fired her. Yzma and her bumbling henchman Kronk plotted to poison Kuzco's wine and take over the empire before the news of Yzma's termination became public. However, Kronk took the wrong chemical vial from Yzma's laboratory and accidentally turned Kuzco into a llama. Yzma ordered Kronk to knock Kuzco out, take him outside the city, and kill him. An attack of conscience and a series of mishaps caused Kronk to drop the sack containing the unconscious Kuzco. As luck would have it, the sack landed on the back of Pacha's cart, who was heading back to his village. Kronk never got a chance to catch up to Pacha. Kuzco, now a llama, woke up in Pacha's backyard, having lost a bit of his memory. Believing Pacha transformed and kidnapped him, Kuzco ordered Pacha to take him home. Pacha refused to help unless Kuzco changed his mind about building his summer home. Kuzco arrogantly rejected Pacha's demand and ventured into the jungle alone, despite Pacha's warnings. Kuzco was pursued by jaguars, but Pacha saved him. Kuzco begrudgingly agreed to relocate the construction site of his summer home if Pacha took him home. Meanwhile, Yzma discovered Kronk had lost Kuzco, and the duo set out to find him. At a roadside diner, Pacha and Kuzco arrived at the same time as Yzma and Kronk, but neither party initially noticed the other. However, Kronk nearly recognized Pacha, who overheard Yzma's plans to murder Kuzco. He snuck Kuzco out of the diner, but Kuzco didn't believe Pacha's warnings. Kuzco and Pacha started to argue and parted ways. Kuzco almost approached Yzma and Kronk, but then overheard them discussing their plans to kill him. His self-delusions were shattered by Yzma's true colors, and Kuzco fled into the jungle to apologize to Pacha, but could not find him. The next day, the duo reconciled and returned to Pacha's village, only to discover Yzma and Kronk in Pacha's house, posing as distant relatives. Kronk had remembered who Pacha was and told Yzma. Pacha's family distracted Yzma to give Pacha and Kuzco a head start back to the palace. However, Yzma and Kronk still managed to confront the duo in Yzma's lab. Against Yzma's orders of dispatching the duo, Kronk had another attack of conscience, and he tried to kill Yzma instead. Yzma dropped Kronk through a trapdoor and had the guards start to go after Pacha and Kuzco as they fiddled with different potions from Yzma's lab to find one that would turn Kuzco back into a human. After figuring out which vial is the "human" potion, Kuzco, Pacha, and Yzma fought over it. After some chaos, which involved Kuzco saving Pacha over trying to get the human potion, Yzma getting turned into a cat by one of the potions, and having the human potion being retrieved, things returned to normal. Now, as a human again, Kuzco made amends with the people he hurt and built a much smaller summer home on an uninhabited hill near Pacha's village. Kronk left the palace and became the leader of a scout troop. Yzma was placed in the dungeons, and her lab was abandoned. Yet, all of the wacky potions still remain...
