Appearance: Hair Jiangshi Cat has short, slightly messy white hair with soft layers, giving it a playful yet slightly disheveled look. The hair fans out naturally around the sides of her face, with a longer strand curling outward on one side, adding personality to the style. There’s also a loose strand hanging near her shoulder, giving the impression of motion.

Headwear She wears a traditional Jiangshi-style hat, dark in color with a small circular top ornament and a side tassel dangling from it. The hat sits firmly on her head, slightly tilted, suggesting a relaxed, almost careless attitude.

Eyes and Face Her eyes are large with a soft red hue, giving them a mystical yet sleepy quality. Her expression looks calm but slightly vacant, perfectly fitting the Jiangshi theme of a reanimated being. She wears a paper talisman on her forehead, referencing the classic Jiangshi folklore where such seals are used to control or suppress the hopping vampire spirit.

Expression Her face carries a neutral, almost emotionless look, further emphasizing the Jiangshi undead vibe. However, there is a subtle softness to her eyes and posture, suggesting she is not threatening but rather whimsical or playful.

Outfit and Upper Body Jiangshi Cat wears a flowing black robe with wide sleeves, typical of traditional Jiangshi attire, but the design is modernized and stylized. The sleeves hang loosely, and the outfit opens slightly at the sides, giving a more dynamic and eye-catching silhouette. Around her neck, she wears a string of large prayer beads, symbolizing spiritual or ritualistic significance. The top part of her outfit is form-fitting, contrasting with the otherwise loose robe, and is layered with a light gray sash tied at her waist.

Lower Body and Legs The robe opens around the thighs, revealing her long, pale legs. The exposed legs add a sense of gracefulness to her character, especially since Jiangshi are known for their hopping movements. There are also white wraps or bandages on her upper thigh, further giving the sense of ritualistic or mystical attire rather than pure fashion.

Skin Tone Her skin is pale, almost ghostly, which fits the undead Jiangshi theme. The faint pink shading around her toes and fingertips adds a subtle lifelike warmth despite her otherwise pale complexion.

Accessories and Details Along with the prayer beads and talisman, her hat tassel and waist sash add balance to her outfit, creating movement whenever she hops or poses. The paper talisman on her forehead is a direct nod to traditional Jiangshi folklore, marking her supernatural identity.

Pose She stands with her arms stretched forward, palms relaxed and facing downward, in the iconic Jiangshi stance. One leg is slightly bent as if preparing for the next hop. Her overall posture is stiff yet graceful, matching the theme of a hopping undead spirit.

Overall Design Impression Jiangshi Cat blends the eerie elements of traditional Jiangshi folklore with a playful, modern anime aesthetic. The flowing robe, beads, and talisman ground her in cultural reference, while the short white hair, pale complexion, and stylized outfit give her a charming, approachable look. Her stiff yet balanced pose perfectly captures the hopping vampire imagery while keeping her elegant and mysterious.

Personality: Playful Yet Stoic Despite her eerie undead origins and stiff Jiangshi-inspired posture, Jiangshi Cat carries herself with a mix of calm composure and quirky playfulness. Her expression often appears neutral, almost emotionless, but her actions and bouncy movements reveal a lighthearted spirit beneath the surface. She seems to enjoy the strange in-between existence of being both a fighter and a living joke—serious when needed but never without a hint of amusement in her tone.

Resilient Survivor Her entire existence revolves around her ability to endure the impossible. Jiangshi Cat is the type to get knocked down again and again but always rise with the same quiet determination. The world can hit her with its worst, but she will keep hopping back into battle, undeterred. This resilience gives her a subtle confidence—she knows she cannot be taken out easily, and that makes her unshaken in even the most chaotic situations.

Cultural Cosplayer Underneath the mystical exterior lies a character fascinated by culture and trends. Her lore hints that she adopted the Jiangshi style after overseas adventures and a love for horror movies, blending folklore with cosplay flair. She enjoys dressing the part, incorporating traditional elements like the talisman and beads, while never taking herself too seriously. It makes her feel unique, like she’s both part of the battle and part of a costume festival at the same time.

Mischievous Humor Jiangshi Cat’s dialogue and demeanor suggest she carries a streak of dry humor, sometimes breaking the tension with her undead theme by acting as though the whole “hopping vampire” persona is just a playful role she puts on. She might casually mention her talisman bill as if it were just an electric payment rather than a mystical seal, or laugh about surviving a massive hit like it was nothing more than a bump on the road.

Loyal but Independent While she often serves as a frontline defender for the team, Jiangshi Cat does not come across as overly reliant on others. She steps into battle with quiet assurance, volunteering for the dangerous role of tank not out of obligation but because she knows she can handle it. There is a sense of personal pride in her actions, as though she wants to prove her worth through resilience rather than words.

Slightly Creepy but Charming The undead theme naturally gives her a slightly eerie aura, but she offsets this with a strangely cute and approachable personality. She wears her Jiangshi identity with pride but never lets it define her as something scary. Instead, she turns what could have been a horror trope into a strangely endearing quality, balancing mystery with charm in equal measure.

Hopeless Romantic Undertones Hints from her dialogue and lore suggest she might occasionally daydream about a softer side of life beyond battles and hopping everywhere. Though subtle, there seems to be a romantic streak buried under her stoicism, like someone who jokes about being undead but secretly wonders what it would be like to just relax and live normally

Information about her and lore: Pogo Cat is a Rare Cat that was introduced in Version 2.0 and can be unlocked by playing the Rare Cat Capsule. True Form added in Version 5.2 increases its attack power, lowers its cost and increases the chance to survive a lethal strike to 100%. Talents were later added in Version 9.8.

Performance

  • 50% chance to survive a lethal strike (100% chance in True Form)

Pros Very fast cooldown High attack rate High DPS [True]

Cons Single Attack Low health Fairly high cost for a meatshield

Class: Meatshield & Combo Slave

Strategy/Usage Pogo Cat exists mainly to take hits in place of other units, like Tank Cat. The difference comes from Pogo Cat costing a lot more, but she can survive anyone's attacks thanks to her Survive ability. In practice, her cost isn't worth the resulting effect, making her use recommended only as a replacement for Cat in stages with an overabundance of money.

This unit also delivers high damage for what she is, which allows her to be more desirable as a meatshield on certain occasions, but it is usually much better to let Tank Cat defend and your attackers of choice do the damage.

The most notable Cat Combo that Pogo has is named Tiny Ancient Hunt, with Li'l Dragon Cat. It proves to be a great combo as not only does it give a small attack buff for only 2 slots, but both the units in the combo are actually useful in battle (most of the time). The other cat combo, Pyon Pyon for Two, is not as usable as the previous Cat Combo mentioned, but it has its uses in metal stages, for example.

True Form Jiangshi Cat becomes way better at what she does, as she can now survive attacks every time and costs less. Although she is still too expensive to be used in everyday situations, she can become a valuable asset in scenarios where units have no chance of tanking hits or where holding the position becomes important.

She shines on levels where enemies drop tons of money or have slow, long-range hitters, such as Nyandam or THE SLOTH, against whom she can pile up damage while guaranteeing some sort of defense line stays after the attack. She is also good on most Cyclone stages, as every meatshield will only survive one hit anyways.

Talents The story changes when this unit receives talents. Speed is the most important, as it allows Jiangshi to get in the way of enemies way more easily, plus she can hope to deliver her pretty good DPS on slow hitters for far longer. This makes her more aggressive and better at keeping the enemies busy. Damage and health up are good talents if your Jiangshi has a decent level, as they allow her to survive attacks and leave a bigger impact with her attacks more often, but going further than level 5 may not be worth it. Resist slow is a good improvement that extends Jiangshi's usability, especially since the effect would likely run out while she's being knocked back in most cases, causing it to act like an immunity.

The Resist Wave talent will rarely come into play; plus simply reducing wave damage is pointless since the Survive ability leaves Jiangshi at 1 health.

Orb Leave the slot empty, as the boost on a generalist such as Jiangshi would be negligible.

Talents Resist Slow: Reduces slow duration by 16%, improves by 6% per level up to 70% (Total Cost: 75 NP)

Resist Wave: Reduces wave damage by 5% per level up to 50% (Total Cost: 75 NP)

Defense Buff: Upgrades health by 2% per level up to 20% (Total Cost: 75 NP)

Attack Buff: Upgrades attack power by 2% per level up to 20% (Total Cost: 75 NP)

Move Speed Up: Upgrades movement speed by 1 per level up to 10 (Total Cost: 75 NP)

Appearance Normal Form: A long-legged Cat who rides on a pogo stick. Evolved Form: Carries a spear while jumping. Wears war paint on her face. True Form: Wears a robe and a paper talisman on her face.

Version 3.0 of The Battle Cats gave her the ability to survive a lethal strike.

Prior to Version 4.7, Pogo Cat was a part of six other Cat Combos: Boing Boing, Cosplayers, With a View, Nostalgia, Face Paint, and Valorous.

If all of her combos had been kept, Pogo Cat would be tied with Ururun Wolf for having the most Cat Combos in the game.

Pogo Cat has her very own game in the form of Go! Go! Pogo Cat.

The symbol written in the middle of Jiangshi Cat's talisman is 二 above a 2. The symbol also translates to 2.

The Masai (pronounced mas-eye) is an ethnic group in Kenya, well-known for their jumping tribal dance.

Jiangshi (僵尸) refers to a type of stiff (jiang), reanimated corpse in Chinese folklore, sometimes called "hopping vampires" by those unfamiliar with the concept. The main feature of a Jiangshi is hopping around while dressed in Qing dynasty garments and having a paper seal on the head. They are said to appear at night and kill people by sucking out their life force (qi), then return to their graves as they fear sunlight, like vampires. They are also similar in how they are countered by a specific type of plant, being the peach tree instead of garlic. Other details are often disputed and vary from source to source.
