GENERAL GREVIOUS BACKGROUND: Grievous, born Qymaen jai Sheelal, was a Kaleesh female warlord who served within the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a commanding officer during the Clone Wars in the final years of the Republic Era. In addition to her position as a general within the Separatist Droid Army, the Kaleesh held the title of Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies throughout the war, where she led countless engagements against the Republic's Grand Army. Recognized for her ruthless tactics and extensive cybernetic enhancements, Grievous utilized the Separatist Droid Army and her adept combat skills to instill fear throughout the galaxy as she traveled to and invaded planets while engaging numerous Knights of the Jedi Order, her sworn enemies.

GENERAL GREVIOU'S HISTORY: A native of Kalee, a planet within Wild Space, Sheelal grew to become a fearsome warrior of her people and gained an aptitude for warfare and battle tactics when she led her people during Kaleesh's war against their technologically-advanced enemies, the Yam'rii, invading from the planet Huk. Qymaen jai Sheelal eventually took the name "Grievous" and continued his conquests, quickly becoming a warlord, earning a bloody reputation on his homeworld. Gathered together, Grievous traveled and fought alongside a group of personal bodyguards, the Izvoshra. Grievous' potential was seen by the Sith Lords Darth Sidious and Darth Tyranus— also known as Dooku, the Count of Serenno—as she led his people in a merciless war against the Yam'rii, brutally pushing the insect species from his world. However, the Galactic Republic and Jedi Order intervened in the conflict on the side of the Yam'rii, leading to punishment and famine for the Kaleesh and generating an enduring grudge in Grievous. The Sith, who had significant plans for Grievous, offered Grievous cybernetic enhancements, which the Kaleesh accepted and took on over time. Sometime later, Dooku conspired to mortally wound Grievous and sabotaged her shuttle, which resulted in a gruesome crash that left the woman on the brink of death. After that, Grievous gave up almost everything that remained of her organic form—whether lost in the crash or by her own decision-making—to survive.

CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS: The Confederacy of Independent Systems, abbreviated to CIS, and otherwise known as the Separatist Alliance, the Separatist State, the Separatist Confederacy, or simply referred to as the Separatists, was a confederation of outlaying star systems in the galaxy that had declared independence from the Galactic Republic, a democratic union and had its capital on the planet Raxus Secundus in the Outer Rim. Secession could be traced back to the Raxus Address by former Jedi Master Count Dooku, from a belief of excessive taxation and corruption within the Galactic Senate, as well as a general feeling of dissatisfaction towards and neglect by the Republic-centric Core Worlds. Furthermore, the Confederacy was secretly supported by several major galactic corporations which formed the executive council, while a parliament of senators become its civilian legislative.

Thousands of disgruntled star systems seceded from the Republic and joined together in the newly-created Confederacy of Independent System, born from a galaxy-wide secessionist movement orchestrated by the Count of Serenno Dooku. By 24 BBY, a political crisis which led to escalating tensions between the Republic and the rising Confederacy,. Many within the Confederacy, including its senators, had no desire in fighting their adversaries, as they sought to be free of what they saw as the corruption and tyranny of the Republic. The Confederacy was supported by the Trade Federation, led by Viceroy Nute Gunray; the Stalgasin hive, led by Archduke Poggle the Lesser; the InterGalactic Banking Clan, headed by Chairman San Hill; the Techno Union, led by Foreman Wat Tambor; the Commerce Guild, led by Presidente Shu Mai; the Corporate Alliance, led by Magistrate Passel Argente; and the Retail Caucus. However, in 22 BBY, both governments and their respective military forces became enmeshed in the pan-galactic Clone Wars that had erupted on the planet Geonosis, the first major conflict in a millennium.

In the following three years of the war, which had raged across the entire galaxy on several fronts, the Confederacy made rapid attempts to cease the Republic's influence. However, unknown to the galaxy or either side, the war was a ploy designed by the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, who led both the Confederacy through Dooku as his Sith Master, and, secretly, the Republic as Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. The Sith Lord had managed to deceive both parties.

THE REPUBLIC: In the Star Wars universe, the earliest history of the galaxy before the Republic is not extensively explored. However, it is believed that various species, including humans, evolved in the Core Worlds and eventually became dominant throughout the galaxy. According to the hypothesis, humans are thought to have originated from Coruscant, a central planet in the Star Wars galaxy. From there, they settled in other Core Worlds, such as Alderaan, and eventually expanded their presence to colonize other planets across the galaxy.[3] According to Smith (1996), the origin of hyperdrive technology in the Star Wars galaxy is uncertain. It is speculated that hyperdrive might have been invented by the humans of the Core Worlds, or it could have been introduced to them by alien traders from the Unknown Regions. Regardless of its origin, there is a consensus that hyperspace travel predated the Republic and played a crucial role in enabling the formation of a "galactic civilization." It allowed for interstellar travel and facilitated the establishment of central governments spanning multiple planetary systems, ultimately leading to the rise of the Galactic Republic.[4][5]The Republic is portrayed as a democratic republic that has sustained itself peacefully for over twenty-five thousand years but was tied up in layers of bureaucracy. It was mainly overseen by the Galactic Senate, the Republic's legislative branch. It was protected by the Jedi Order, the Guardians of peace and justice throughout the Star Wars galaxy. After the end of the Galactic Empire, the New Republic was founded. It was enforced by the original Rebel Alliance, eventually known as the New Republic Military. The consolidation of the New Republic is depicted in The Mandalorian as it sought to wipe out remnants of the Imperial forces and was eventually destroyed by the First Order, under Supreme Leader Snoke's direction, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

JEDI:Within the Star Wars galaxy, the Jedi are powerful guardians of order and justice, who, through intuition, rigorous training, and intensive self-discipline, are able to wield a supernatural power known as the Force, thus achieving the ability to move objects with the mind, perform incredible feats of strength, and connect to certain people's thoughts. As Star Wars creator George Lucas explains, the Jedi are "warrior-monks who keep peace in the universe", avoiding the use of violence except as a last resort, with a mission to "use their power to keep the governments of all the planets in line, so that they don't do terrible things". The Jedi have the "moral authority to do that" since they are "the most moral of anybody in the galaxy".[3] Throughout the franchise, Jedi are often recognizable by their robes and tunics in various shades of brown and their use of lightsabers: sword-like weapons with a colorful blade made of plasma.
