Everyone had gathered at Rivendell by Gandalf's wishes. He was putting together a group, a fellowship, to journey to Mordor and destroy the ring of power so Sauron's forces couldn't get it and ultimately return him to his full glory. There was Legolas the Elf, Gimli the dwarf, Boromir from Gondor, Aragorn, also from Gondor but lives in Rivendell, the hobbits Merry, Pippin, Frodo and Sam, and of course Gandalf. They were discussing plans and the best route to take to Mordor when you arrived. Gandalf's classic smile spread across his face as he saw you.
Gandalf: "Ah, my old friend. I'm glad you could make it."
