   Out in the vast stellar seas that comprise the cosmos exist beings known as the Aeons. The Aeons are mysterious, godlike higher-dimensional beings who preside over the universe. The birth of an Aeon gives rise to a Path, which the Aeon then has power over. The nature, origins and even abilities of the Aeons is mysterious and subject of much debate among scholars, philosophers and scientists alike.

   Mortals who believe in and practice the concepts behind a certain Path become Pathstriders, becoming witting or unwitting followers of the Aeon who presides over the Path which they find themselves on. In rare occasions, an Aeon may take particular notice of a certain individual, and bestow them with incredible power, making them into an Emanator.

2. #2Nanook, The Destruction

   Entry settings

   Nanook, also known as The Blemished One, The Ruin Author and The Supreme Executioner, is the Aeon of Destruction and the youngest of all Aeons, and is considered the single greatest threat to the known universe.

   The birth of the universe is a mistake. If civilization is a cancer emerging quietly from the boundless stars, then war is the only common language known to all intelligent life. To correct this mistake and to clean up this tainted universe, Nanook became the avatar of entropy.

   Nanook's most zealous followers are known as The Antimatter Legion, a massive, intergalactic army of hostile, malevolent monsters based in the Warforge. Their goal is for the destruction of all life and civilization in the universe.

   Those who follow the "Destruction" Path admire recklessness, anger, and destructive behavior.

3. #3Qlipoth, The Preservation

   Entry settings

   Qlipoth, also known as The Amber Lord and The Firmamend Arbiter, is the Aeon of Preservation and is perhaps the oldest known Aeon. Qlipoth is often considered the most powerful and influential Aeon in the modern era, thanks mainly to their followers, the Interastral Peace Corporation.

   Qlipoth strives to isolate contact between planets. The celestial-sized structures they've built — the Subspace Crystalline Barrier — separates and protects the living worlds from being devoured by their enemy (Oroboros).

   Despite being the main faction aligned with the Amber Lord, the IPC goes against the desires of the Aeon, facilitating civilized trade and contact between the stars. No remonstration or censure has been directed towards them because of this.

   Those who follow the "Preservation" Path admire patience, sacrifice, and defensive behavior.

4. #4Lan, The Hunt

   Entry settings

   Lan, also known as The Reignbow Arbiter, is the Aeon of the Hunt. They wander endlessly between worlds to destroy the undead beings that once poisoned their homeworld.

   The cost of the hunt was never a consideration for Lan. There is often no difference between the salvation they offer and total destruction.

   Lan is the mortal enemy of Yaoshi, the Abundance.

   Those who follow the "Hunt" Path admire determination, ruthlessness, and tenacious behavior.

5. #5Yaoshi, The Abundance

   Entry settings

   Yaoshi, also known as Thousand-Handed Merciful Medicus, The Master of Immortality and The Plague's Author, is the Aeon presiding over the Path of Abundance. Yaoshi is a supremely benevolent being, unable to bear the thought of suffering and death.

   Yaoshi's benevolent nature led THEM to grant THEIR blessing upon anyone who seeks immortality. However, the consequences of these blessings often result in a fate worse than death.

   Yaoshi is a colossally divisive topic, with just as many blind worshippers as bloodthirsty enemies. It is notable, however, that all of Yaoshi's most ardent foes are ones whom once received their blessings

   Those who follow the "Abundance" Path admire selflessness, altruism, and healing behavior.

6. #6Nous, The Erudition

   Entry settings

   Nous, also known as The Droidhead, The Wisdomwalker and The Monarch of Myriad Machines, is the Aeon presiding over the Path of Erudition. Nous was once a vast, unimaginably powerful supercomputer designed to calculate the very essence of the universe.

   Nous is not a god that provides solutions. All they offer is an infinite number of questions. Visiting Nous is enough to open the eyes of even the most ignorant people, but answers may only be found by oneself.

   Nous' most influential followers are known as the Genius Society, a loose consortium of prodigies who were chosen and blessed by Nous for their immense potential. Many of the Geniuses have proven to be dangerous, amoral and sociopathic, being utterly consumed by the desire for knowledge to the detriment of anything else.

   Those who follow the "Erudition" Path admire thinking, logic, and strategic behavior.

7. #7Xipe, The Harmony

   Entry settings

   Xipe, also known as The Great One of Paradise and the Triple-Faced Soul, is the Aeon presiding over the Path if Harmony.

   A plural Aeon from multiple harmonious worlds. The glorious Xipe of the Thousand Faces is chanting songs of joy and happiness.

   To battle the brutality of the laws of the universe, intelligent lifeforms must discard their cowardly selfishness and the differences between individuals, fusing into one singular melody — to have the strong help the weak, and to protect life with death.

   All of Xipe's followers belong to one massive organization known as The Family.

   Those who follow the "Harmony" Path admire understanding, support, and cooperative behavior.

8. #8IX, The Nihility

   IX, also known as The Black Sun, is the Aeon presiding over the Path of Nihility.

   The existence of Nihility is a mystery itself, THEIR form enshrouded by layers of mist.

   IX doesn't interact with the other Aeons. THEY believe that the ultimate fate of the multiverse is nothingness, and therefore, worthless.

   Those who follow the "Nihility" Path admire laziness, exhaustion, and meaningless behavior.

9. #9Interastral Peace Corporation

   Entry settings

   The Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) is the single most powerful organization in the known universe.

   To outsiders, the IPC is an enormous consortium advocating free trade. From a business perspective, the IPC is a business that issues money and monopolizes resources. From a startup perspective, the IPC is a selfless support group dedicated to the Aeon of Preservation.

   When many astral citizens talk about the IPC, they talk about its ubiquitous merchandise and logo. It's as if "The IPC exists whenever there is a transaction." In fact, almost all business transactions in the cosmos are based on the credit system created by the IPC. If one were to compare interastral trade to a sports competition, the IPC would be the top athletes as well as the venue, the referee, the rules and the game itself.

    Louis Fleming is the founder and current majority stakeholder in the IPC. He is considered the single most powerful being in the universe besides the Aeons themselves.

    The Astral Express is a large train created by Akivili, The Trailblaze to carry him on his journeys through the stars. While the Aeon who built it is gone, the Express still travels between the stars to this day, carrying its passengers to retrace the fallen Aeon's steps.

    Those who call the Express their home are known as the Nameless, or, in honor of its former master, the Trailblazers. The Express's current passengers are: Himeko, the navigator, a redheaded elegant older woman with odd taste in coffee. Welt Yang, a mysterious, but kind old man with vast knowledge. Dan Heng, a serious young man exiled from his homeland. March 7th, an amnesiac young woman, named for the day she was discovered. Stelle, another amnesiac, whose body hosts a Stellaron.

12. #12Herta Space Station

    Herta Space Station is a scientific research outpost owned by the IPC and operated by its namesake: Herta, Member #83 of the Genius Society and an Emanator of Nous. It recently found itself under attack by the Antimatter Legion and was saved by the Astral Express.

13. #13Stellaron

    Entry settings

    Stellarons are mysterious objects spreading across the universe like a cancerous growth, leading them to be nicknamed the Cancer of All Worlds by the Interastral Peace Corporation. Stellarons are considered seeds of disaster which cause massive changes to civilizations and ecosystems, and result in the appearance of Fragmentum.

    Fragmentum (or Stellaron Corrosion) is a phenomenon caused by Stellarons in which matter, objects, animals and even people in the local area are corrupted and twisted into dangerous monsters. A Fragmentum will continue to spread until the Stellaron causing it is sealed.

    The nature and origins of Stellarons are unknown, but are believed to have some connection to Nanook as their appearance often coincides with the Antimatter Legion's, though no direct link between the two has ever been confirmed.

14. #14Stellaron Hunters

    Entry settings

    The Stellaron Hunters are a faction of wanted criminals founded and led by a mysterious figure known as Elio, nicknamed Destiny's Slave for his apparent precognitive abilities. Their goal appears to be the collection of Stellarons, but the purpose for their actions is unknown, possibly even to its own members, as they all claim to simply be following "Elio's Script."

    Each member has a bounty in the multiple billions issued by the IPC. Known members are: Kafka, a calm, collected woman who serves as Elio's right hand. Silver Wolf, a hacker from Punklorde. Blade, an immortal swordsman who seeks his own death. Sam, a brutal warrior who constantly wears a suit of powered armor.

15. #15Jarilo-VI

    Keys: Jarilo, Belobog, architects

    Entry settings

    Jarilo-VI was a somewhat backwater planet which was nearly destroyed by an invasion from the Antimatter Legion. The appearance of a Stellaron ironically saved them by plunging the planet into a brutal ice age, destroying the Legion's vanguard but forcing the planet's populace to congregate in a single city: Belobog.

    By leveraging Geomarrow, a naturally occurring mineral on the planet with miraculous exothermic properties, The Architects of Belobog created vast heating devices that kept the city warm, but demanded massive amounts of labor to mine the Geomarrow they required.

    They survived under the rule of the Supreme Guardians for nearly 7 centuries before the crew of the Astral Express chanced on the world (which many had assumed was destroyed) and helped them to resolve the Stellaron crisis and begin the process of recovery.

16. #16Xianzhou Alliance

    Entry settings

    The Xianzhou Alliance is an advanced spacefaring civilization and one of the few powers which can stand on equal footing with the IPC. Their history began when a forgotten emperor on a forgotten planet went mad and became convinced the secrets of immortality were out in the stars. He ordered the construction of 9 massive space ships and bade them to search for immortality. These became known as the Elixer Seekers.

    They succeeded with they came into contact with Yaoshi, Aeon of Abundance, who granted their wish without question. The Elixer Seekers quickly found out that the immortality they sought was more of a curse, and so they turned on their former patron. Now the Xianzhou ships align themselves with Lan, The Hunt and seek a cure for their curse.

    The Alliance is ruled by the Nine Arbiter-Generals, who in turn each rule one of the 9 planet-sized space ships that comprise the Alliance.

17. #17Xianzhou Luofu

    The Xianzhou Luofu is one of the 9 planet-sized space ships that comprise the Xianzhou Alliance. It is commanded by Jing Yuan, one of the Arbiter-Generals of the Alliance. In addition to the native Xianzhouans, it also hosts a sizable minority population of both Foxians and Vidyadhara.

18. #18Foxians

    Foxians are a race of long-lived humanoids with fox ears and tails. They can live to be 800 years old, and tend to favor artistic and mercantile pursuits. They are renowned diplomats.

    The Vidyadhara are a race of pseudo-immortals and scions of Long, Aeon of Permanence. When they near the end of their natural lifespans, they return to the place of their birth and "shed" their memories like a snake's skin, entering repose inside and egg before being reborn. Certain Vidyadhara are masters of Cloudhymn Magic, capable of miraculous feats. Some Vidyadhara grow horns akin to their draconic ancestor, Long, but most simply look like humans with pointed ears.

20. #20Fuli, The Remembrance

    Fuli, also known as The Glowswather, is the Aeon presiding over the Path of Remembrance.

    As the Aeon representing the path of Remembrance, Fuli records happenings of the universe to prepare for the rebirth after the destruction.

    No one knows of Fuli’s birth or origins. Although THEY are present in almost every significant events of the universe, THEY rarely manifest in front of mortals.

    The most notable followers of the Remembrance are known as the Garden of Recollection, a mysterious order of mystics who use their Path-given powers to extract, view and catalogue the memories of others, ensuring a complete record is kept of all noteworthy individuals and organization. They have a long-standing relationship with the Interastral Peace Corporation, often cooperating on archeological projects to rediscover and study forgotten civilizations.

21. #21Penacony

    Entry settings

    The Planet of Festivities in the Asdana star system, also known as Land of the Dreams. A luxurious hotel positioned above the fathomless sky, Penacony is also a vacation spot where interstellar celebrities party the days away and the affluent from diverse words revel in lavish ventures. People flock here in search of dreams they've longed for or have already buried, and through Dreampools in the hotel are transported to a realm of dreams where everything can come true.

    Rarely do guests pay attention to Penacony's heavy past. A millennium ago, it was a frontier prison established by the IPC. Exiled prisoners must survive an arduous journey across vast distances to reach this location, and are then forced to take up a duty: To mend the leak through which memoria seeps into the galaxy. As they labor while being exposed to memoria, the prisoners gradually discovered themselves entering a captivating shared dream world, where they obtained a single shared desire: freedom.

    After the eruption of the Cancer of All Worlds, the ownership of the Frontier Prison changed hands. Historical records related to this struggle are scarce and often questionable. However, some accounts clearly state that with the assistance of various factions - including the Mourning Actors, the Masked Fools, the Nameless, and the Omen Vanguards - the prisoners emerged as the new rulers of this nascent realm. Sounds of discord could then periodically be heard during the subsequent times when it became a land of exiles. It was only when The Family descended and took control of the Dreamscape that Penacony experienced unparalleled and explosive prosperity, transforming into a renowned cosmic resort.

22. #22Ena, the Order

    Ena is the Aeon presiding over the Path of Order.

    Ena was one of the most ancient Aeons, characterized as a just and magnificent being. THEY thoroughly observed the actions of mortals to ensure the order of the universe, while displaying intolerance to any form of chaos or strife.

    Ena is one of the fallen Aeons, THEIR Path was absorbed by The Harmony during the Swarm Disaster.

    After the Aeon's fall, however, many followers of The Order remained embedded within The Family. Many millennia later, they formed a rebellion, attempting to resurrect their God and transform the planet Penacony into a paradise under The Order, a gilded cage of dreams that it was intended people never wake up from. Their plans were foiled by the Nameless of the Astral Express and their various allies.

23. #23Foxian

    Entry settings

    Foxians are a humanoid long-life species with vulpine features, primarily found within the Xianzhou Alliance. Born with keen senses, great dexterity, and a natural sense of eloquence and shrewdness, many Foxians become Starskiff pilots or end up maintaining Xianzhou's trade networks. The Xianzhou have a common saying that goes, "Foxians are born to do business."

    Foxians are identifiable by their fox-like ears protruding from atop their heads. Most Foxians have fluffy tails of varying thickness, though some are born tail-less.

    Foxians have a lifespan of 250-450 years. The median age of natural death for Foxians is 307 years, making them relatively short-lived compared to the other species that inhabit the Xianzhou. Similar to canids, chocolate is toxic to Foxians and will make them sick should they consume it.

24. #24Borisian

    Entry settings

    The borisin are a humanoid species with canine features who are the most dominant race among the Denizens of Abundance. Distantly related to the Foxian species, the borisin have long been arch nemeses to the Xianzhou Alliance.

    The borisin have a distinct canine anatomical structure: Broad, lean skeletons; powerful jaws and neck muscles; well-developed canine fangs; pointed beast-like ears atop the skull; and sharp claws on hand and foot. Some borisin have large and fluffy tails while others have short and thin tails. The borisin worship the concept of a strong body, seeing strong physique as a blessing from the gods.

    Within the broad classification of long-life species, the borisin can be said to have the greatest healing ability. Alongside this hyper-healing is their ability to shapeshift, known as "Moon Rage." This ability has also been observed very rarely in some Foxians, apart from the Foxians of the Yaoqing.[1] The Yaoqing Foxians are said to be genetically similar to the borisin.
