They are seen as the true gods of the world and represent the most basic concepts present in it. They are, or were, beings that existed before the existence of life that we know of it in this world. They are both creators of mankind and the others, and the ideals represented within mankind and all other kinds of creatures. They have mostly left the world now, with their traces still existing and acting as forces of nature. They are composed by: Gro-goroth, Sylvian, the God of the Depths, Rher, and Vinushka.

Keys: Ascended gods
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Ascended gods are on par with the older gods in terms of power. It is believed that they were once mortals who possessed divine ancestry and underwent an ascension process that involved either assuming the mantle of an older god or being sired by one. Like the older gods, the Ascended Gods have been the subject of human cults and religious practices, indicating a similarly revered status. They are composed by: Alll-mer, and The God of Fear and Hunger.

Keys: New gods
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
New gods were once mortals, who achieved apotheosis by sitting at the Throne of Ascension in the ancient city of Ma'habre. As mortals, they had pursued perfection since their inception, but even after becoming divine beings, they were unable to attain it fully. In terms of power, they are far inferior to the Old Gods. They are composed by: Francóis, the dominating one, Nilvan, the endless one, Valteil, the enlightened one, Chambara, the tormented one, and then there was Nosramus, the "fifth one", the forgotten one.

Keys: Gro-goroth
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Gro-goroth, the destroyer of man, is the god of destruction and human sacrifice. He wishes for blood to be spilt in his name. If one cannot resist the call of his darkness, he will grant this one a terrible power, yet strong for the sin this one has committed. Gro-goroth is a curious god, more so than many of the other older gods. To re-live the feeling of fear, he wears the bodies and skins of men and women alike. Some believe he still walks among men, masked under the skin of people and hanging bodies, but his presence is fading. His runic symbol depicts an eclispe.
- #5
Keys: Sylvian
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Sylvian, the goddess of love and fertility, created men and women at the dawn of time. She wishes only for an act of love in her name, granting you a bond more serious than you could imagine. Both Sylvian and Gro-goroth originate from the green hue, the plane of the older gods. Many believe she left mankind behind a long time ago. Her first runic symbol has the shape of an opened eye; her second one is an open slit, resembling a vagina.
- #6
Keys: God of the Depths
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
The God of the Depths, an old and gigantic being worshipped by outcasts left in the darkness - insects and wretched soulless beings. Their body lies dormant in the altar of darkness and within it, there is The gauntlet, a way to the very bottom of the dungeons. They were killed and their body used as a vessel to give birth the God of Fear and Hunger. Their runic symbol is that of a backwards R.
- #7
Keys: Rher
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Rher, the Trickster Moon God, also known as the Moon god and Trickster God, is one of the last old gods to still observe mankind. He is a jealous kind and would not share the godhood and the world order with humans and the new gods, because he doesn't believe men should have the same rights as true gods. He has many ploys to diminish the influence of the new gods, but his motivations seem incomprehensible to them. Lady of Moon and Pocketcat are his servants, both bent on killing children as a way to get rid of humanity's potential ascension. His runic symbol is three circles, two above one.
- #8
Keys: Vinushka
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Vinushka, the god of nature, is an offspring of Gro-goroth and Sylvian. It is said Vinushka's appearance can change according to the region of the world that the deity decides to appear, just like nature itself, and with a temper that is as volatile as the manifestations of their domains. Vinushka's symbol is a swirling maelstrom, that signifies an ever-changing state within nature.

Keys: Alll-mer
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Alll-mer, the ascended one and the last of the older gods, was born in Jettaiah, raised by a virgin mother and supposedly sired by a "False God". He gathered his 12 apostles to bring down the old world order, and usher in a new one (His new world order is called the old world order by the New Gods). Corrupt kings and sultans captured Alll-mer and hung him from the cross, where he ascended into the city of the Gods, Ma'habre. He returned back to his weeping apostles and tried to save mankind with his strength by murdering the kings and sultans, bringing back the old world order. Year 0 marks the birth of his new self, and the start of a new calendar. They say his mortal remains still lie in the ancient tomb, hidden somewhere near the ancient city of Ma'habre. His runic symbol is a cross, the object he dies on.

Keys: The God of Fear and Hunger
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
The God of Fear and Hunger is a being on par with the old gods, and like Alll-mer, ascended from a human being. The God of Fear and Hunger began life as a human girl, the child of Nilvan, a new god, and Le'garde, a mortal prophesied to bring about a new age. After growing up knowing nothing but misery and suffering, she was taken to the Heart of Darkness, located at the bottom of the dungeon inside of the slain corpse of the God of the Depths. She represents darkness and human suffering, but is seen as a being that motivated humanity to progress out of the medieval era and into modernity in an attempt to end that suffering. Her symbol is constructed from the God of the Depths' sigil, doubled and mirrored to form an RЯ shape.

Keys: Francóis
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Francóis is a member of the Fellowship alongside Nilvan, Ronn Chambara, Valteil, and the Forgotten One. Said Fellowship embarked on their journey to become New Gods in the year 809. They entered Ma'habre and ascended to become New Gods, with Francóis then becoming the Dominating One. A selfish deity despised by his fellow New Gods who sit idly at the Grand hall, Francóis hoped to unify the warring lands and used this goal as fuel to pursue more strength.
After his ascension, Francóis established his residence at the Golden Temple, which served as his stronghold. From this strategic location, he guarded the throne of ascension from any outsiders who dared to enter Ma'habre without his permission. He ruled this land with an iron fist and went to great lengths to ensure that he remained in power. To this end, he even trained hunting hounds as mindless beasts, who would taste only the blood of his victims and relentlessly harass trespassers who dared to challenge his rule.
By the end of the 16th century, after experiencing numerous life cycles, Francóis finally gains a deeper understanding of the greater scheme that governs existence. He becomes aware that true domination is an illusion, perceiving himself and all others as mere puppets in a grand design. Driven by this newfound awareness, Francóis feels compelled to advise adventurers who encounter him at the golden temple to travel back in time and eliminate his younger self.

Keys: Valteil
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Valteil was a member of the Fellowship, a group comprising Francóis, Nilvan, Ronn Chambara, and the Forgotten One. His attire suggests a previous role as a Dark Priest before his ascent.
In the year 809, the Fellowship embarked on a journey to attain the status of New Gods. Their path led them into the realms of Ma'habre, where they ascended to become powerful entities. Valteil, in particular, rose to become the Enlightened One, establishing himself within the Grand Libraries of the ancient city. Deeply immersed in his studies, Valteil became an immensely knowledgeable New God, devoting his existence to the pursuit of understanding the creation of artificial life.
As he believed that this endeavor could bridge the divide between the New Gods and the Old Gods, Valteil sought to fashion a working-class being similar to the eternal clay figurines of Ma'habre. However, fearing that his creations would outlast him, he opted to craft artificial lifeforms from flesh, thereby imposing a limited lifespan upon them. Notably, Valteil successfully brought forth the Lord of flies, as well as a mechanical entity named Uterus, for his "past-time pleasure".
Valteil possessed the Enlightened soul, one of the three essential souls necessary for entry into the Temple of the Gods. However, following his defeat in combat, he hanged himself. Nas'hrah, harboring a deep animosity towards Valteil, comments that the New God deserves what he got and made disturbing accusations of pedophilia, though their veracity remains uncertain.

Entry settings
Ronn Chambara was once a mortal poet who believed that great art could only be born out of pain and suffering. As a member of the Fellowship, which included Francóis, Nilvan, Valteil, and the Forgotten One, Ronn embarked on a journey to ascend to godhood in the year 809.
Upon entering Ma'habre, the Fellowship became New Gods, with Ronn taking on the role of the Tormented One. He transformed into a skinless being with chains that inflicted unending torture upon him for hundreds of years. In turn, he extended his pain and suffering to other creatures within the shrines of Ma'habre, including the Red Men. Despite his godhood, Ronn continued to uphold the same principles he held as a mortal poet.

Keys: Nosramus

Entry settings
Nosramus was the fifth member of the Fellowship of the New Gods. Often referred to as the "Forgotten One," there exist scant written records about them, leaving their true intentions shrouded in uncertainty. Depending on the version of the tale embraced, Nosramus was either deceived by the elder deities or attempted to deceive the Fellowship themself. Deciding to stay in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger for an extensive duration, Nosramus devoted himself to studies across various fields of knowledge. He delved deeply into the realms of blood magic, deities, gods, and an assortment of other subjects. At the present juncture within the first game's narrative, his primary areas of interest revolved around nature and the heartbeat of the Earth. Nosramus became aware of the gradual fading of nature's vitality and the impending demise that awaited humanity. It was this realization that compelled him to remain within the dungeons, where the primal laws of nature still thrived and the presence of the gods pervaded the surroundings. During his stay, the Old Knight had assumed the role of his devoted servant.

Keys: Nas'hrah
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
During the second age of history, which began with the reign of the so-called New Gods in the year 410, a figure named Nas'hrah emerged as a notable presence. Referred to as the "Bringer of Doom and Terror", Nas'hrah held a distinct position within this group, setting them apart from their predecessors. Although the concept of new gods existed in ancient times, Nas'hrah's inclusion elevated this particular group. Upon his ascension, he ended up succeeding Betel and assuming his position within the grand libraries in Ma'habre. The exact nature of the events surrounding Nas'hrah's interaction with Betel remains unclear. However, it is acknowledged that Nas'hrah employed an act of trickery that ignited a fury among his fellow New Gods. As Nas'hrah's reign as a deity was marred by his cruelty and sadistic tendencies, he was met with abhorrence and revulsion from his peers. Simultaneously, Nas'hrah held their methods and ideologies in contempt, viewing them as weak and ineffectual and fostering a mutual disdain between them.
Nas'hrah is also responsible for the creation of the enigmatic Yellow mages. This sect of magical practitioners, shaped by their master's ideology, harnessed otherworldly powers for personal gain and the advancement of their own agendas, forsaking the path of traditional worship of the gods. While the presence of the Yellow mages has gradually diminished over time, remnants of their existence can still be found reveling in chaos, steadfast in their adherence to Nas'hrah's teachings.

The famed New God of Enlightenment that created the grand libraries in Ma'habre to store the immense knowledge the world holds. He wished that the archives would one day surpass the knowledge and the wisdom of the older gods. Every new god of the enlightenment after him would from then on dedicate their cycle at the libraries to a certain subject they would decide themselves, filling the shelves with books from all forms of expertise. He is generally viewed as the father of enlightenment among the New Gods and the one who wrote about the human dilemma. Betel was eventually succeded by Nas'hrah - who apparently pulled some kind of trickery on Betel and enraged the New Gods doing so.

Keys: Ma'habre

Entry settings
Ma'habre, also known as Ma'havre and "the city of the gods", its ancient ruins are located beneath the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger in the Kingdom of Rondon, and it appears to be the source of the madness creeping into the fortress. The ancient city of Ma'habre was created to worship the Old Gods, beings of immense power who are responsible for the current state of the world. Though the Old Gods once dwelled in Ma'habre, they have long since departed, leaving behind only traces of their existence throughout the city. Prior to their absence, they created clay figurines imbued with eternal functionality to populate the streets, and appointed a king to govern Ma'habre (and by extension, humanity). Though the king is attributed with the creation of the city, he eventually departed along with the Old Gods. The clay figurines have been awaiting his return in the aeons since.
Ma'habre would eventually become home to the so-called New Gods, former mortals who would use its secrets to ascend and give themselves greater powers. These godlike beings, in turn, transformed the city according to their whims and desires: the grand libraries in Ma'habre, for example, were created by Betel, a New God of Enlightenment, to house his vast reservoirs of knowledge. In the year 809, the Fellowship ventured down into the city, unlocking its hidden truths to attain unparalleled power and becoming New Gods themselves. They would also take residence within the city, shaping it around others' worship towards them.

Keys: The void
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%

The Void is described by the New Gods as "the other side of the coin". It is the place where Old Gods used to reign. Those who sit on the Throne of Ascension and reach it, are able to understand the greater scheme of things and ascend to become a New God.
It is mostly populated by amalgamated lizards creatures which resemble those of the prehistoric era. It is said by the New Gods that these are ascended beings that could possibly rival the Old Gods.

Keys: Crow Mauler
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%

Before he became known exclusively as the Crow Mauler, he was a man from the Kingdom of Rondon called Rudimer. He became the captain of the wretched prison known as the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. Rudimer soon realized that maintaining order among the unruly troops in the dungeon was next to impossible, and he eventually regretted taking up his position there. He recognized that there were powerful forces at play that were beyond his abilities to fight as a mere mortal, and so he would become jaded to the unholy practices of the dungeon.
When war prisoner Le'garde of the Midnight Sun was brought to the dungeon, Rudimer felt sorry for the man, as it was obvious to him that Rondon had betrayed Le'garde because he was gaining influence at a rapid pace. At the request of high priestess Selene, Rudimer had Le'garde transferred to the lower levels below the mines.
The madness from the ancient catacombs, which the prison was built on top of, would eventually spread throughout the dungeons. The darkness allowed monsters from the depths to spread insanity among both guards and prisoners. Captain Rudimer set out to purify the dungeons of the filth and depravity infesting the halls. Little did he know how much of an impossible task this would be...
The supplies and logistics needed for this endeavor were dwindling faster than Rudimer had imagined. At one point, he was forced to travel to trade a bizarre artifact (this being the Cube of the Depths) to a village of Cavedwellers deep in the dungeons. As order among the troops crumbled, he sent an emergency message to his brother Ser Seril, which led Rondon to dispatch a rescue party. As more and more troops fell, Rudimer eventually joined them - losing his mind to the darkness, he ran deep into the dungeons, wearing nothing but a sheet of cloth and having feverish dreams of crows. Now he wanders the hallways, purging them of anything still breathing. Captain Rudimer is no more.

Trortur's past as a famed knight in Rondon and a holy warrior of the Vatican is a surprising revelation, given his current status as an evil figure. According to his own accounts, he was captured during one of the kingdom's holy crusades and sent to the dungeons. Most people assumed that he had died there, but five years later, when the knights captured the Eastern Capital Jettaiah, they discovered what had become of Trortur. He had been transformed into a twisted, hunch-backed creature, disfigured by years of torture and abuse

Keys: Isayah
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
A self-proclaimed veteran of the dungeons of fear and hunger, Isayah is met during the protagonist's adventures within the fortress. He seems to be a ominous figure due to his metal mask.
Quiet and stoic, but will go on to talk about finding a manuscript concerning the ancient walls of the dungeons, from which many pages were actually treasure maps. As some of those maps are a complete mystery to him, he eventually offers to sell his wares as he is supposedly done with the dungeons.
As it can be observed from his left hand, he was affected by some sort of plague, possibly the same that has been rampant in the Kingdom of Rondon. It seems he might have lost his other hand as a result, as the right side of his body is kept covered at all times - he does, however, keep a hidden blade concealed his scarf. A possible reason for his metal mask is disfigurement from the plague.

Keys: Pocketcat
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Pocketcat, though apparently a minor influence when compared to the likes of Gro-goroth's mages, Sylvian's marriages and sex cults, and Alll-mer's vast following, possesses a unique quality distinguishing him from mere adherents. Unlike others, Pocketcat is an actual creature spawned by Rher, the Moon God, much like the Lady of Moon. While specific details about his origin remain elusive, it is known that Rher, a jealous god who opposes humanity's ascension, created Pocketcat with the intention of preventing children with divine parentage from reaching the level of Rher. Pocketcat and Lady of Moon are believed to be figments of Rher's imagination, as he dreams them into existence.
Pocketcat also holds a prominent role in ancient fairytales used as cautionary tales to dissuade children from wandering alone. This narrative aligns with his mission of hindering the ascension of children to Rher's level. Whether the fairytale inspired Rher's creation of Pocketcat or if the creature itself became the source of the tale remains uncertain.
While the extent of Pocketcat's free will remains unclear, his actions might be driven by a compulsion tied to his specific purpose. Despite engaging in malevolent acts, Pocketcat displays likable behaviour, expressing sentiments and emotions openly. He conducts himself with respect, thoughtfulness, and gentlemanly behavior, even when facing opponents in battle.

Keys: Bunnymasks
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
The Bunnymasks are followers of the old god Sylvian, who put on rabbit masks while naked and head to the meadows with other people to have sex as part of their religious rituals. The presence of an eternal, anonymous orgy is another form of worship of the Older gods. Based off the Studies article, as well as the fact that having sex with the Bunnymask raises affinity with Sylvian, it is implied the Bunnymasks are a Sylvian sex cult.
Participants in the ritual are brought into a trance-like state, resulting in the act occurring in complete silence and focus. Both heterosexual and homosexual pairings engage in various forms of intercourse during the ritual. Observers note that it can be challenging to discern if participants are enjoying the experience or not, as it may appear uncomfortable or even painful. However, there is a palpable sense of love and emanating from the participants towards their surroundings.

Keys: Wolfmasks
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
The Wolfmasks are followers of the old god Gro-goroth, who don wolf masks and fur attire to indulge in self-mutilation and cannibalism as a tribute to their god. Wolfmasks appear as half-naked humans clad in fur clothing. The participants of the feast are induced into a trance-like state, with many of them consuming each other, biting off severed limbs and even feeding their own body parts to one another. Interestingly, despite their actions, all of them are alive and seem to be in a state of trance or peaceful contentment. Additionally, some individuals exhibit signs of sexual arousal and agitation during the ritual, calling the event a "celebration of flesh". This craving for flesh is potent enough to ensnare individuals and push them into a state of madness.
