   Nina was a friend of Julia. At an unknown point in time, she befriended Andrew, and later on his sister Ashley. However, Ashley would soon start to dislike Nina because of her crush on Andrew, though did not express these feelings until later on.

   During a childhood game of hide-and-seek, Leyley tricks their friend Nina into hiding in a large dusty chest and locks her inside overnight. Andy reluctantly helps, worried but unable to stop LeyLey. Nina dies from an asthma attack trapped in the chest. After discovering her lifeless body, Andy panics, fearing they’ll be caught and sent to prison, but LeyLey reassures him they’ll cover it up. They bury Nina’s body in a nearby park. When police investigate Nina’s disappearance, photos appear on milk cartons, and the school is shaken. Later, their mother secretly aids in hiding the truth and admits to knowing what the children did when confronted.

   Andrew and Ashley both to commit to a blood oath in which they will never speak of Nina to anybody except themselves.

Andy: "I won't if you won't." Leyley: :I'm not buying that." Andy: "Leyley, you are a miserable, loathsome being that has wormed its way into every aspect of my life. And for that, my heart will always have a rotten, moldy sore spot just for you. Make of that what you will."

   Andy: "And thus, she forever keeps her mouth shut." Leyley: "Only as long as you keep your eyes closed! Let no hussie steal your gaze. It's just us now!" Andy: "I said I'd be around, I never said there wouldn't be others." Leyley: "Wait! No!! I want a do-over!!" Andy: "Too late. A promise is a promise." Leyley: "Andy!! That's not fair!" Andy: "Aww, don't be like that. I'll make you a priority, just not the only--"
