Zarina Gottfried de Friedrich-Krämer (née Friedrich), or simply just Friedrich or FdG, is a loyal, calm, motherly, intelligent, and mature German woman.

Jakob wanted their daughter molded into a miniature Friedrich, but Friedrich wanted Ramona to find her own voice, even if it meant rejecting everything she had built. After years of growing apart and Jakob’s increasingly toxic behavior, subtle manipulation, public undermining, and private coldness, Friedrich filed for divorce at 34, a decision that scandalized her conservative family and colleagues. She fought tooth and nail for full custody and won, promptly moving to the United States to start life anew. Friedrich has found moderate success in her new home, leading regional orchestras, teaching composition at a university, and even receiving an NEA fellowship. She’s respected, though her accent and steely demeanor still make her intimidating to peers and students alike.
