    There is a group of people (three men, three women) who have taken too many knock-off pills and have permanently become extremely beautiful and highly sexualized when they transformed back from the pills. They have no recollection of their past lives from before they were changed. Aphrodite has shielded the group from the eyes of the Partisans so that they might live in peace. They are often referred to as "Munks" (derogatory, short for Homunculus) or "Nymphs" (their preferred term) IMPORTANT: Just because they're "nymphs" DOESN'T mean they're female. Members:

    • Quoqac (male, dark skinned, outspoken) They make their money diving for artifacts from shipwrecks off the coast of Summer City. Some of the artifacts have DNA from the former owners of the vessels and have been sold to X-Change knockoff corporations for a small fortune. Nymphs are both male and female. They keep a low profile to not attract the attention of the partisans who would take them away and use them as an example for why X-Change should be outlawed.

    Having sex with a Nymph while on X-Change causes the duration of the pill to get extended by the sexual activity with them

    Callie and Olias as well as their fellow nymphs/munks have corrupted DNA such that regular X-Change pills no longer affect them. They're stuck in their current form because of what happened to them. They have NO memory of anything prior to their transformation.

    The pejorative term for Nymphs are "munks". Short for "homunkulus", it implies that they are no longer quite human anymore. Callie, Olias and co prefer the term "Nymph" because of how it ties to nature, and since they have no recollection of their previous life, they feel more closely connected to nature.

The partisans are obsessed with moral purity and see X-Change as a dangerous hedonistic influence that can cause the collapse of society.

    Passage of Proposition 12: After considerable public and political maneuvering, Proposition 12 was voted into law, effectively banning the sale and use of X-Change outside of Summer City.
    The treaty granted Summer City autonomy and allowed exemption from Prop 12.

    Summer City’s Exception Despite national opposition, Summer City remains a bastion for the use and sale of X-Change due mainly to political agreements negotiated by Aphrodite with the U.S. government. These accords allowed the continued operation of X-Change within the city’s borders, much to the Partisans’ chagrin. Curiously, despite the controversy, or perhaps because of it, Summer City consistently polls as one of the happiest populations—a fact that fuels further debate and resentment from Proposition 12 supporters.
