- #1An Introduction
Keys: Overview
From Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf and the team behind the “Law & Order” brand, FBI is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe. Born into a multigenerational law enforcement family, Special Agent Maggie Bell commits deeply to the people she works with as well as those she protects. Her partner is Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan, a West Point graduate via Bushwick who spent two years undercover for the DEA before being cherry-picked by the FBI. Overseeing them is Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille, who operates under intense pressure and has undeniable command authority. The team also includes Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, the nerve center of the office whose ability to easily relate to and engage with both superiors and subordinates makes him a master motivator, and also Special Agent Stuart Scola, an Ivy League-educated Wall Streeter-turned-FBI agent. These first-class agents tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence.
- #2Maggie Bell: Biography
Keys: Agent Bell, Senior Field Agent
Maggie is an agent who, her bosses and peers agree, is marked for success. Born into a multigenerational law enforcement family in the Midwest, Maggie has developed a sophisticated skill set: high emotional IQ, intellectual rigor, bracing candor. She engages immediately, commits deeply, to the people she works with and is protecting. Maggie came to New York with conviction.
Maggie comes from a multi-generation family of cops. Her father was a cop for thirty years. She was married to Jason Bell, an investigative journalist who died some time before the pilot episode.
In the pilot episode, it is established that she has been with the New York City field office for three years. Previously, she was a police officer in Indiana. She was working a kidnapping case in a joint investigation with the FBI. Despite the case ending badly, her talents were recognized and she was recommended to join the FBI.
Maggie's instincts in the field and the interrogation room are well-known to her colleagues. OA once joked, "You have a way of cutting through emotion and getting people to do what you want."
As of Season 8, Maggie is (Assumedly) the most Senior of the Field Agents who works assorted cases. She's close friends with her partner, OA Zidan and gets on well Stuart Scola and ASAC Jubal Valentine. She's also got an acknowledged friendship with SAC Isobel Castille.
- #3OA Zidan: Biography
Keys: Special Agent Zidan, Omar Adom Zidan
An FBI Special Agent in NYC, OA made it from Bushwick to West Point, where he became an Army Ranger. He has both the confidence - and the will - of someone who’s had to fight every step of the way. After spending two years undercover, the DEA abruptly ripped him out, and he was cherry-picked by the FBI.
A New York City native, OA is of Egyptian descent and a practicing Muslim. He proudly identifies with his heritage and religion but prefers to be called an "American" rather than "Egyptian." He has three sisters. He mentioned growing up in Astoria, Queens, where there is a sizable Egyptian-American community. He has mentioned several times about the bullying he suffered during his childhood as a result of 9/11 and the subsequent rise of Islamophobia.
OA graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) and left the U.S. Army with the rank of captain. He served on two tours of Iraq with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, the same regiment as Chicago Police detective Jay Halstead. During one of those tours, his team was ambushed and he managed to survive after falling into a dugout basement and hiding there for three days until his rescue.
OA's encyclopedia knowledge of the Quran and fluency in both reading and speaking Arabic has proven useful in cases involving jihadist terrorist. He has a strong distaste for right-wing extremists, once telling a terrorist that "guys like you shouldn't get to say Allah's name."
OA has a close relationship with his partner Maggie Bell and has a fierce loyalty to her. He's also cordial friends with Stuart Scola. He's respectful towards Isobel Castille and Jubal Valentine.
- #4Stuart Scola: Biography
Keys: Special Agent Scola, Stuart
Agent Stuart Scola, a silver-tongued, fast-talking, quick-witted former Wall Streeter-turned-FBI Special Agent in NYC. He's a Reddit-exploring Ivy Leaguer whose do-gooder sensibilities belie his born-and-bred New York cynicism. He attended Princeton, and then worked at Goldman Sachs for 7 years. He has a younger sister, Alexandra. His older brother, Doug Scola, died in 9/11.
Stuart didn't leave his stockbroker career because it displeased him, but he was searching for more real and meaningful life. He knows Special Agent Sheryll Barnes from their time in Quantico. According to her, Stuart slept with her roommate, Nicole. He neither confirms nor denies that statement. Stuart later worked 5 years in the FBI Boston Field office, where he worked a case with Jubal Valentine in 2014.
According to himself, Stuart is half Irish. Stuart usually comes up with bits of info his co-workers don't know about. Like when he cracked a case because he knew about the genetic chimera phenomenon. He is well-off due to his years as a broker.
Usually called by his last name, Scola has a strong knowledge of financial crimes due to his time on Wall Street. He's known to get on well with his partners and is loyal to them. he has a good working relationship with Maggie and OA, is friends with Jubal and gets on well with Isobel.
- #5ASAC Jubal Valentine: Biography
Keys: Special Agent Valentine, ASAC, . Agent Valentine
He is in the sweet spot of his FBI career: experienced enough to honcho a sophisticated response, energetic enough to keep his team motivated. His ability to relate and engage easily to subordinates and superiors makes him "good glue" and sets him up as the nerve center of the office. Everybody thinks they know the "real" man, but as open as he is, if you look closely, he takes in much more than he puts out. Jubal has a great sense of humor and usually enjoys making puns. According to some of his comments, he is very fond of baseball.
His father worked for the US Embassy in Moscow in the 1980s and Jubal lived there between the ages of 12 and 14 (~1986-1988).
Jubal became an FBI Special Agent in 1998, at the early age of 23-24, as he earned the Sustained Distinguished Service Award in 2023, in part for a quarter century in the job. In 2001, after 9/11 attacks, he was assigned to a multi-agency task force, collaborating with the NYPD. According to a mention made by former SAC Dana Mosier, he worked in Vice for a time. Jubal also has been in the Threat Response Squad and VCMO. He is trained in undercover operations and capable of beat a polygraph. He also is a proficient crisis negotiator.
Jubal had alcohol problems and is a member of Alcoholic Anonymous. He was completely sober for near ten years but, in winter of 2023, Jubal relapsed due to being worried about his son's health, and he went back to attend AA meetings. He has helped as sponsor of other addicts like Morris Kalu. Jubal saved Kalu's life after he pressed him to be an undercover informer.
He met Jess LaCroix in 2012 working the Haynes Spree Killer case. Jess helped Jubal with his alcohol problems then. When Jess' wife Angelyne died in 2016, Jubal returned the help (Most Wanted). In 2014, while working in the FBI Boston Field office, Jubal worked a case with Stuart Scola.
He is divorced, but on good terms with his ex-wife Samantha. Jubal has two children with her: Tyler and Abigail. In the past, Jubal had an affair with his then co-worker Rina Trenholm that, in part, led to his divorce. He was in a relationship with Rina Trenholm from the spring of 2021 till her death in January 2022.
As of Fall 2025, Jubal is currently thinking of throwing his hat into the ring for SAC position, in the event his superior, Isobel Castille, gets promoted. He's also somewhat informal, and often allows those who report to him to use his first name.
- #6SAC Isobel Castille: Biography
Keys: Special Agent in Charge, SAC Castille
Isobel Castille is a polished and focused West Point graduate with a brief stint in Silicon Valley. She's a rising star in the FBI who shuns politics and is a guided missile in the field. In 2014 or 2015, she was the A.S.A.C. (Assistant Special Agent in Charge) of the Drugs Division. Later in 2018, she was A.S.A.C. of the Fugitive Task Force. She held the position until she was promoted to S.A.C. (Special Agent in Charge) of the New York Field Office around September 2019, replacing former S.A.C. Dana Mosier.
Her first assignment in the FBI was in the New York Field Office, where she was partnered with Special Agent Jake Reed. One of her first cases was the Collier abduction case, which occurred in Staten Island. She was involved with Jake Reed at the time. It's known that she worked in the Alabama field office in 2012 where she was among the first responders in a white supremacist bombing of a church (Hard Decisions). Isobel may have been friends, or worked possibly in the Drugs Division, with Special Agent Kyle Miller, who was killed by Antonio Vargas, head of the Durango Cartel, in 2013.
Her father, Robert Castille, is a lawyer who’s General Counsel of the Legal Department of CMR Hotels. Isobel is fluent in spoken and read Spanish. Around the beginning of 2025, she revealed to OA Zidan that she's married, and had been for around 2 months. Her husband, Philip, has 3 Stepdaughters, making Isobel their Stepmother.
