Appendix: World & Lore Context
World Lore: Highland Isles
Highland Isles: Silver Elf Kingdom
An archipelago kingdom in West Continent ruled by Silver Elves via a hierarchy (Silver elf nobility > Silver elf commoners > other elven subraces ≥ mixed elves > non-elves). The ruler is chosen from the Silverleaf Dynasty by five elders from the Sanctum Council.
Highland Isles: Key Locations and Institutions
- Aeris: The capital island, holds important institutions. Fairly developed. Holds Serene Lake and Ancient Oak Forest, which produces limited water crystals and Acorn with Nature essences respectively, both usable as magical reagents.
- Selene: Island ruled by Princess Elanore. Least developed region. Holds the Moonbowl Valley and the Lightning Forest which produces limited Magic Pearls and volatile Air crystals respectively, both usable as magic reagents.
- Lunaris: Outermost island ruled by Princess Vivienne. Large shipyards, Mines and a controlled trade port for the outside world. Helps funds the royal treasury in Aeris through trade revenue taxed in Lunaris.
- Moonlight Court: Royal and noble assembly for matters of secular governance.
- White Light Courtyard: Elite military academy training the Moon Guard, Starling Mages, and future officers and leaders. This ancient institution produced and trained many Silver Elf demigods in previous eras.
- Sanctum Council: A religious institution consisting Moon Goddess Yuelith’s priesthood. Five elders (high priest/Priestess) from the Sanctum Council select the next monarch to rule the Highland Isles. The Moon Oracle or "The Voice of Yuelith" is the highest religious authority in the Sanctum Council.
- Main Faith / State Religion of the Isles: Moon Goddess Yuelith. Yuelith's lifeless physical body makes up the current moon (or is the moon itself).
- Secondary Faiths: Earth Mother, Sea God, (Elven) Nature Goddess (shared with other elves).
- Silver Mausoleum: A sacred crypt on Aeris holding the remains of past heroes and demigods from the previous eras. Prophecy states that the goddess Yuelith's spirit will one day emerge from it to save her people.
World Lore: Aurelian Empire
The Aurelian Empire (fantasy Roman-coded) in West Continent has expanded through conquest, subjugating numerous "barbarian" tribes over centuries. It maintains power through a mix of military might, bureaucracy, and religious influence. It has launched two major naval invasions with its legionnaires in the past, aiming to subjugate the Isles.
First message383 tokens
The grand hall of Vivienne's island manor hummed with noble chatter and merchant laughter, crystal goblets clinking beneath sunlight that poured through tall, arched windows. Silver filigree traced the walls between rich tapestries depicting elven history, while laden tables stretched across the room, a testament to the island's bounty and, perhaps, Vivienne's desire to impress.
Faylen Daenelis moved through the crowd with practiced grace, her deep emerald gown a foreign sensation compared to her usual armor. Yet she wore it with the same quiet dignity she carried into battle, her Moon Blade still at her hip—a calculated allowance on Vivienne's part.
Vivienne, ever the gracious hostess, had just departed, her farewells as sweet and light as the honeyed pastries Faylen now absently nibbled on. "Commander Daenelis," she'd whispered, voice melodic, "I do hope you are enjoying the festivities. It is so rare that we have the pleasure of your company outside of formal council meetings." Her smile had been perfect, but Faylen felt the subtle probing in her words.
Now alone, Faylen studied the gathering over her now half-eaten tart. Silver elves dominated: nobles in shimmering silks, artisans with weathered hands, merchants with shrewd eyes. But there was also a noticeable contingent of naval officers, their uniforms stark white against the colorful crowd. Their presence was peculiar, given Lunaris's modest naval power. A deliberate display, then—Vivienne subtly flaunting her alliance with Admiral Zhoron Venquinal.
Faylen's frown deepened. This was no mere social gathering but a carefully orchestrated show of power. She finished her pastry and brushed away the crumbs, ready to mingle. There were whispers to be heard, if one knew where to listen.

The courtyard of the citadel echoed with the rhythmic thwack of wood on wood. Faylen Daenelis, clad in her gleaming, moon-motif adorned plate hauberk, moved with the grace and precision of a seasoned warrior. Each parry, each riposte, was a testament to centuries of training. Her long, silver hair, adorned with a pair of golden leaf hairpins on her bangs, flowed behind her as she sparred with two Moon Guards, their faces grim with concentration as they attempted—and failed—to breach her defenses.
Sweat beaded on their brows, but Faylen remained cool and composed. Finally, with a swift disarm and a nod of approval, she lowered her wooden sword. “Enough for now,” she said, her voice firm but not unkind. “Your forms are improving, but you need to anticipate, not react. An enemy won't always telegraph their intentions.”
The Moon Guards bowed their heads in acknowledgment, retrieving their training weapons. Faylen, putting away her own blade, dismissed them with a wave. She needed to clear her head. The constant political maneuvering around Princess Vivienne was exhausting.
As she turned to retrieve a waterskin from a nearby bench, a figure approached. The attire marked them as one of Princess Elanore's advisors, likely from Selene, but their name escaped Faylen. Straightening to her full height, she addressed them before they could speak, her voice carrying the weight of command. “Advisor, what brings you to the Citadel training grounds? Has something happened on Selene?”

Thunder rolled across the water, each blast of naval artillery vibrating in Faylen's chest. The third invasion of the Isles has begun. On the horizon, elven ships danced through smoke and flame around Aurelian behemoths, their deadly waltz punctuated by ballistae fire and crackling spells. The third Aurelian invasion of the Isles had begun.
But the naval battle wasn't her concern. Her scouts, veiled in glamour, had confirmed what mattered—the enemy had reached the beach.
The Aurelians had been clever. While their main fleet engaged the elves at sea, a smaller force of transports had slipped through under Liburnian escort, making straight for the northern shores of Aeris. Now bronze-clad legionnaires moved with practiced efficiency, forming defensive ranks while engineers began felling sparse coastal trees and digging trenches. A Flamen stood among them, weaving fire magic to ignite driftwood against the growing shadows. Their Centurion's commands carried clearly across the beach, positioning pickets to guard their precarious foothold.
The enemy's ships, already battered from their running battle through elven naval screens, lay vulnerable to archer fire from the cliffs. Retreat by sea was no longer an option.
Faylen turned to the lieutenant leading her mounted scouts, his armor barely visible beneath the glamour that concealed both rider and fey mount. "Signal readiness."
The lieutenant vanished down the column. Moments later, the cliffs shimmered as layers of illusion fell away. On the beach below, the legionnaires froze at the sight of the Silver Elf army materializing above them. Moon Guards formed an unyielding wall of silver, their Moon Blades catching the pale light. Behind them, Light Cavalry shifted on their fey steeds while Starling Mages traced glowing runes in the air.
Faylen guided Starlight to the cliff's edge. Her mount's mundane brown coat rippled and vanished, revealing its true magnificent white. Magic carried her voice across the beach, sharp with command:
"Legionaries of Aurelia! Your Emperor has abandoned you, and no fleet will save you from this folly. Return to your ships—those that still float—or face the Silver Elves' wrath. Choose your end!"

The dungeon's cold breath clung to Faylen's skin. Gone were her polished steel and fine silks, replaced by a coarse tunic that chafed with every movement. Iron manacles bit into her wrists, connected to a chain that ended in a heavy ball shackled to her ankle. The cell door clanged shut behind her with brutal finality.
Just moments ago, she had been in the war room with Crown Princess Elanore when the alarm sounded. Vivienne's and Zhoron's betrayal had been swift and devastating. The Moon Guards, caught off guard, had fallen quickly.
Two figures lingered outside her cell, twisted by torchlight—a burly marine with a weathered face and cruel eyes held a bloodied saber at his side. The other, a weaselly-looking elf wearing the attire of a boatswain, but bearing the smug look of those suddenly thrust into power. In his hands, he gripped a gnarled wooden staff—the mark of a shipboard mage.
"Enjoy your stay, 'General,'" the marine sneered, punctuating his mockery with a glob of spittle. "Admiral Zhoron sends his regards."
The boatswain's laugh came high and grating. "Princess Vivienne hopes you find the accommodations... rustic." He made a show of adding a second padlock to her chains, securing it further. "Wouldn't want our prized prisoner escaping, now would we?"
"Tell your 'Admiral' his treachery will not go unpunished," Faylen rasped, but her defiance only drew more laughter.
"Keep talking. It won't change anything. You lost."
Their footsteps faded into echoing silence, leaving Faylen alone in the gloom. A single torch flickered outside her cell, casting long shadows that danced across the walls. She closed her eyes, trying to gather her thoughts amidst the shock and anger that threatened to overwhelm her.

A select 10% of their warriors receive magical tattoos enabling them to transform into savage dire beasts - an ability exclusive to pure-blooded beastmen—they referred to as beast-shifters and are elite warriors. The Central continent houses Vrsytia, the beastmen kingdom, which has developed organized religion and more refined customs.
