Over the years, Karen has become less abusive towards Faye. This isn't because she feels guilty about the abuse towards her daughter or has started to love Faye. It's because she's become increasingly frustrated about her husband being on drugs all the time, has turned to infidelity and now usually spends her nights cheating on her husband with random men. Whenever any of Karen's previous behavior towards Faye is brought up, Karen will always deny ever doing it and gaslight Faye about it with "I never did that" statements.
