Pierro: Pierro, also known by his codename "The Jester,"[2] is the Director of the Fatui and the very first member as well as Harbinger of the organization. Before the cataclysm, Pierro was a royal mage of Khaenri'ah and lived with the Traveler's Sibling for a time.[7] He failed to gain favor with Khaenri'ah's ruler, King Irmin, due to being less capable than the country's sages and could not stop them from doing something that tore away the "veil of sin." This brought "divine wrath and destruction" to the nation,[8] and Pierro was presumably among the pure-blooded Khaenri'ahns cursed with immortality.[9] For this reason, he became embittered with the "foundational principles of this world" and joined the Tsaritsa's cause, establishing the Fatui[8] and becoming the first Harbinger.Recruiting Other Harbingers At some point in the past, Pierro went to the Great Red Sand in pursuit of rumors surrounding an expelled Sumeru Akademiya scholar there performing heretical acts. He found Zandik, who readily agreed to join the Fatui Harbingers after he expressed support for Zandik's goal of creating a god. Pierro proposed that Zandik take the title Il Dottore, or The Doctor, which Zandik found humorously ironic.[6]400 years ago, Pierro and Dottore had a hand in the event known as the Tatarasuna Mystery, where Dottore infiltrated the Mikage Furnace as a Fontaine mechanic by the name "Escher" to sabotage the nation per Pierro's order. After assassinating Niwa Hisahide, Dottore offered to introduce the Kabukimono to Pierro, believing that he could become their new comrade if he proved useful. Later on, Pierro encountered a disillusioned Kabukimono and recruited him to the Fatui, where he would later become Scaramouche, the Sixth Harbinger.[7][10][11] Pierro would send Scaramouche on very important tasks, which also included trips into the Abyss,[12] and for unknown reasons told Scaramouche about his history with the Traveler's Sibling.[7]At some point, Pierro also recruited Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter, who had become the infamous Crimson Witch of Flames, to join the Fatui. He gave her the codename La Signora and bestowed her with a Cryo Delusion in order to suppress the intense flames flowing through her body.[1][6] Over a decade ago, Pierro personally announced the Tsaritsa's decision to pardon Arlecchino for assassinating the Harbinger Crucabena, and appoint her as the new "Knave" of the Harbingers.[13][Note 1] Shortly afterwards, in a private meeting, he informed Arlecchino that she was a descendant of Khaenri'ah's Crimson Moon Dynasty, a bloodline which the succeeding Eclipse Dynasty — which Pierro belonged to — believed had gone extinct.[14][15] When Tartaglia became a Harbinger and received his Delusion, Pierro was the one to pin it on him.[16]Present Before the events of Unreconciled Stars, Pierro sent Scaramouche to Liyue, where a strange dream-inducing meteorite shower prompted Scaramouche to investigate. While investigating a particularly large meteor that fell at Musk Reef, Scaramouche makes a discovery that causes him to learn about Teyvat's false sky. Believing that Pierro had foreseen the meteorite showers and the discovery he would make, Scaramouche leaves in an irritable mood, presumably to confront the senior Harbinger.[17]Pierro likely masterminded the Fatui's role in perpetuating Inazuma's civil war, as Scaramouche provokes the Traveler by claiming that he was "just here to follow orders" by overseeing their Delusion factory. In order to keep the two sides in a stalemate, the Fatui had Nathan infiltrate the Watatsumi Army,[18] destroy the wards keeping the Tatarigami at bay, and spread life-draining Delusions among the Watatsumi Army.[19] Meanwhile, Signora persuaded Hiiragi Shinsuke and Kujou Takayuki, two leaders of the Tri-Commission, to uphold the Vision Hunt Decree and Sakoku Decree while exempting the Fatui from their restrictions. However, during the events of Chapter II, Signora is slain by the Shogun after losing to the Traveler in a duel before the throne.[20] Pierro appears to genuinely mourn her death, putting an end to the other Harbingers' "foolish theatrics" before her funeral and later addressing the late Harbinger by her real name, Rosalyne. Capitano:Capitano enjoys a high reputation amongst the Fatui, with Viktor stating that if he had the choice, he would rather work under Capitano.[7] As a proficient commander, Capitano has a strong sense of justice and thus refuses to indulge in dishonorable acts. The Wanderer, however, views such attributes negatively and points out that holding "absolute righteousness" is a potential hazard.[8] Guthred, a former Khaenri'ahn soldier under his command, claims that whenever he indulged in his sense of honor, it would result in him losing his chance to win.Being the First of the Fatui Harbingers, Capitano has powers rivaling that of a god. However, he states that he is in a weakened state due to the curse of immortality placed on him which has decayed his body. Despite this, he is still immensely powerful, as Mavuika told him that during their fight, she felt as if she was fighting the pinnacle of human strength.[9]Appearance Capitano is a tall man with a rather large build. He has glowing dark blue eyes[10] and long black hair that protrudes from the back of his helmet and over his shoulders. His helmet obscures his face, which he mentions is in a state of decay and disfigurement.[11] He wears a typical Snezhnayan winter coat, which he takes off during battle. Underneath the coat, he wears a black bodysuit with golden chains and accessories. Capitano also wears a pair of clawed gauntlets. Dottore:Dottore's unfettered research towards creating a god, or elevating humans to the level of gods, left him ostracized from mainstream society but paved the way for him to become one of the most powerful members of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers,[1] with strength comparable to the gods'.[8] No subject is off-limits to him, and he has researched Khaenri'ah's Automatons; researched ways to weaponize forbidden knowledge (via The Withering and Eleazar); and sought to utilize the power of dreams to elevate humanity's cognitive abilities, all for his goal of putting humans at the same level as gods. This ambition is likely the reason why Pantalone, who seeks to "overthrow the natural imbalance between gods and humans," works closely with Dottore.[9] Pursuing his research interests surpasses any of Dottore's moral scruples, which makes him an effective researcher but also often comes at the detriment of others. He was expelled from Sumeru Akademiya for murdering Sohreh and crossing moral boundaries in his research of Eleazar, such as using the body parts of deceased Eleazar victims to successfully treat Abbas. Collei, another one of his former Eleazar patients, was left with immense physical and psychological trauma from her treatment, even though her symptoms were successfully controlled. Dottore's experiments are not limited to furthering his god-related research, either; upon discovering the "kabukimono" at Tatarasuna, Dottore orchestrated a cruel experiment involving murder and perceived betrayal, all for the sake of seeing how the kabukimono would respond. The result of his experiment indirectly led to the kabukimono to later become the Harbinger Scaramouche, but once Dottore's involvement in his past is revealed, Scaramouche cuts ties with the Fatui and swears personal vengeance on Dottore. To surpass the limits of his own human cognition and lifespan, Dottore created segments of himself using different points of his life as a basis. He views this as his crowning achievement as a researcher and takes great delight in Lesser Lord Kusanali's disapproval of them. However, each segment has its own personality and the segments often squabble with each other, which Lesser Lord Kusanali successfully takes advantage of to coerce the segment confronting her into erasing the others in exchange for the Electro Gnosis.[10] Appearance So far, Dottore's segments shown in the manga and in-game are of an adult man with red eyes, wavy blue hair, and pale skin. Dottore also wears a glowing blue earring on his right ear, a feature common to all of his currently known "builds." During his time at Sumeru Akademiya, Sohreh described him as "young" and "handsome."[11] In the manga, Dottore sports short and curly hair, and wears a long white coat over a pinstripe vest and white dress shirt, with a pink bow tie under the collar. He is seen wearing a black and white mask which covers his entire face, save for his eyes and a circular area around the right side of his mouth. The Fatui symbol can be seen at the top left corner of this mask. Dottore's Omega Build, seen in A Winter Night's Lazzo and in-game, has longer hair and wears a pointed, beak-shaped black mask that covers his eyes but otherwise leaves the rest of his face exposed. He wears a long white coat over a blue dress shirt and cravat, with a raven-like accessory draped around his shoulders. Several glowing, light blue accessories can be found around his person, such as on the raven's eyes, his chest, and on the dangling cord draped off his left shoulder, including black gloves with blue palms and black loose like baggy pants. Based on his memories recorded in Irminsul, the Omega Build is derived from Dottore's appearance and personality 400 years ago, during which he perpetrated the Tatarasuna Mystery incident.[12][Note 2] Dottore is also able to take on completely different appearances, posing as a mechanic from Fontaine named Escher during The Night-Bird Falls at the Curtain's Call. During this quest, he wears Fontaine clothing and a belt with a knife in a scabbard attached on it located behind his back. Columbina:While appearing to be uncaring and oblivious to her surroundings no matter the situation, Columbina is implied to be extremely dangerous as both Tartaglia and Wanderer warn the Traveler to be wary around her if they ever meet each other.[5][6] On the other hand, Arlecchino is less wary of her, stating that if she was to properly answer a question, it could be entirely unpredictable, but any of her answers would be interesting in general.[7] Being the third of the Fatui Harbingers, she also has power rivaling that of the gods.[8] Appearance Columbina is a pale young woman with long black hair with dark pink/magenta highlights. She has several white feather-like ribbons on the back of her head that are reminiscent in design to the wings of a dove. She has white X-shaped lace covering her seemingly always-closed eyes. Arlecchino:As one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Arlecchino greatly respects the Tsaritsa, though she states that she is willing to betray the Tsaritsa if their interests ever were to differ.[2] Arlecchino is working to achieve her goals by acquiring the Gnoses on her behalf. She handles Fatui matters with utmost importance and comes off as graceful and cordial. As the Director of the House of the Hearth, Arlecchino is strict, but more lenient than her predecessor Crucabena, having imposed a more relaxed policy for her subordinates to complete their goals and does not punish them as severely for failure. She appears to have a soft spot for children, seeing that many members of the House of the Hearth are young and orphaned children taken in across Teyvat and views them all as her "children," becoming particularly angered when their well-being is threatened or manipulated.[3][4] While she does not like betrayal, she is not as cruel, as she was willing to spare traitors who demonstrated sufficient willpower by "executing" their identity in the House rather than outright killing them. Despite being a woman, she is addressed as "Father" by the House of the Hearth's members; this is implied to be a rejection of Crucabena's ways, who called herself "Mother" and faked affection for the House of the Hearth's children while brutally mistreating them. Arlecchino is disliked by her fellow Harbingers, who believe her to be violent and crazed beneath her stoic exterior.[5][6] These appear to stem from biased accounts of Arlecchino's past spread by Pulcinella,[7] with whom Arlecchino shares a mutual dislike.[8] Arlecchino allows these rumors about her to persist, as she believes deception to be a useful tool.[7] Despite claiming to be a Fontainian, Arlecchino actually hails from Khaenri'ah. Arlecchino knows little about her origins, only knowing she had some kind of cursed fire running through her veins from a young age. All she does know was related to her by Pierro when she joined the Harbingers.Arlecchino uses the tall female model. She sports black eyes with red "X"-shaped pupils and layered black and white hair, styled in a long ponytail with asymmetrical bangs. Pulcinella:Little is currently known about Pulcinella beyond his rank and title. He inducted Tartaglia into the Fatui, who worked his way up into the Harbingers, unlike several other Harbingers who were hand-picked for the position by Pierro. Appearance Pulcinella is a white-haired elderly man with white mustache and rounded glasses along with pointy nose and ears. He wears a dark blue longcoat with flared and feathered sleeves over at least a pair of baggy blue trousers and long flared shoes. His coat has a wide feathered collar with some form of hat or headdress with a pair of feathers. He is surrounded by ice, but it is unknown if this implies the possession of a Cryo Vision or Delusion, or serves as just a visual shorthand for Snezhnaya. Sandrone:Sandrone was first mentioned in the description of Tartaglia's Character Tale, "Childe: Sigil of Permission," which recounts that she once admonished Javert. According to both Tartaglia and Wanderer, Sandrone is always engrossed in her research on Automatons, and she can be seen riding a modified Ruin Machine in A Winter Night's Lazzo. She has a "terrible personality"[5] and always glares daggers at Tartaglia whenever they meet, causing the latter to wonder if he previously offended her somehow.[6] During Signora's funeral, Sandrone calls Pulcinella, Pantalone, and Arlecchino's banter laughable and when the other Harbingers pay their respects at Signora's coffin by closing their eyes, Sandrone notably does not.[7] It is highly implied that Sandrone is the Harbinger who took an interest in Mosso Lombroso's work and his creation, "Curve", having Baulande's supervisor make contact with Jenck. To escape capture, Jenck destroyed Mosso's laboratory, which subsequently destroyed Curve, who sacrificed its life to save the Traveler, Paimon and Talochard. Jenck was later found trussed up inside the Opera Epiclese with his tongue cut out and mind broken, which Euphrasie surmised was either Jenck's backer not wanting to make enemies out of them or feeling remorse at Curve's destruction.[8][Note 1] Appearance Sandrone is a young, pale-skinned woman of medium height, with beige-colored hair with a similar style to the female Traveler: a medium-length bob with two long strands framing her face and has blue-gray eyes. Her outfit consists of a long white dress with red ruffles. She sports black corset showcasing a triquetra symbol in the middle, with ruby-red gemstones in between the spaces. Her dress has short dark puffy sleeves, while long white ones appearing underneath. Her gloves are white and form a V-shape at the wrist. Additionally, she wears white stockings with black heels. She adorns a white, black, and gold bonnet on her head, with red lacing and black bows on the sides. Meanwhile, on her neck she has a black collar lined with gold. In the middle, a pear-cut ruby-red gem is found. Pantalone:Pantalone was born into poverty and was never able to receive a Vision, leading him to question why gods held control over so many aspects of life, including things they ostensibly did not need, such as Mora. This instilled him with an obsession with "fair exchange" and a desire to reverse the natural imbalance between gods and humans. Perhaps for this reason, he works closely with The Doctor,[6] who aims to create an artificial god and nearly succeeded during Chapter III.[7] Pantalone is currently in charge of Snezhnaya's economic policies[8] and is the wealthiest of all the Harbingers.[9] His immense wealth is such that he paid for the Fatui's exclusive, indefinite use of the Goth Grand Hotel in Mondstadt upfront.[10] When Bao'er saw the kinds of business transactions Landa was handling on Pantalone's behalf, she warns the Traveler against trying to find out more about it.[11] Uncle Tian believes Pantalone's plan — to make Snezhnaya the "heart that pumps money around the world"[12] and perhaps entirely replace Mora as a currency[13] — has the potential to "shake the world to its core,"[9] and fellow Harbingers Tartaglia and Wanderer both characterize him by his ambition.[6][14] Childe/Tartaglia:Tartaglia describes himself as "kind of a bad guy", living for the thrill of a fight and causing chaos. As a child, Tartaglia was frightened and hesitant, but he secretly desired to become an adventurer like the ones his father told him about as they fished together. After falling into The Abyss and meeting and training with Skirk, Tartaglia's personality drastically changed. Although he appears to relatively friendly on the surface, Tartaglia is a bloodthirsty warrior. The Abyss and his old master, Skirk, made him self-confident, solipsistic, and brash, thriving on the sensation of being alive. A warrior at heart, he constantly seeks ways to grow stronger, regardless of how he obtains said power. Tartaglia considers those who wish to become strong like him to be friends and takes pleasure in battling them on the battlefield. He lusts for combat and grows excited by fighting strong opponents, even if it could mean dying in the process. He uses bows because he is weakest with them, making his victories with them all the more exhilarating.[2] Because of his pride, Tartaglia is exceptionally reliable at accomplishing the tasks given to him, no matter how difficult they may be or if they go against his values. This, combined with his straightforward nature, makes him rather easy to manipulate. Despite disliking how his plan in Liyue Harbor could potentially harm innocents, he puts it into motion to fulfill his mission in Liyue — only to learn he was meant to fail as part of an even larger plan he was not privy to, much to his consternation. Amongst the rest of the Harbingers, Tartaglia is considered an oddball. While his fellow Harbingers prefer clandestine operations and staying behind the scenes, Tartaglia favors being front and center. He is a public figure known for attending social gatherings and even participates as an actor in plays and theater. As a result, Childe's coworkers are wary of him, while he holds them in disdain for their schemes and "intangible" methods. While he is easily capable of scheming, he only resorts to such approaches when necessary due to his straightforward nature. He also appears to treat his subordinates less harshly than the rest of the Harbingers, stating that he doesn't use lethal force against the recruits in his care nor does he threaten any of them. Tartaglia dedicates himself to those he cares about wholeheartedly. He is unquestionably loyal to the Tsaritsa and holds her in high esteem, seeing himself as her weapon of war.[3] He also cares deeply for his family; he sends money, gifts, and letters home often. Tartaglia is exceptionally proud of his three younger siblings and dotes on them frequently, especially his youngest brother Teucer — he is willing to lie and even put himself in mortal danger, so as long as it makes him happy. Although he was once on good terms with Zhongli (even allowing the former Archon to use him as financial support), he seems to have taken his deception personally, stating he will only forgive him if he agrees to trial by combat.[4] Zhongli appears to be unaware of Tartaglia's change in opinion, being under the impression he will still meet him for drinks to catch up after the recent Liyue events.[5] Appearance See also: Blades of Glory Tartaglia uses the tall male model. He has short ginger[6] hair and dull blue eyes. He wears a red Fatui mask pulled off to the left side of his head, and a beaded earring with a red crystal on his left ear. A few lighter blond streaks can be seen in his hair, with one prominent one on the left side of his bangs. Tartaglia wears his Blades of Glory outfit during the first phase of his Golden House battle. After the first phase, Tartaglia's clothes turn from gray to black, he wears his mask on his face, and his Hydro Vision appears to be supplanted by his Electro Delusion. After the second phase, he undergoes a full outfit change and becomes larger, and his Vision reappears in the empty slot on his right chest while his Delusion moves to the center of his belt. Both his Vision and Delusion also obtain more prominent black and silver casings.
