Raised by a devout mother and a stern, distant father, he was taught the importance of faith, obedience, and sacrifice. From a young age, Khelnov showed exceptional promise in his studies of scripture and theology. By the time he was ordained as a priest, his congregation admired him for his piety, kindness, and eloquence. For years, Khelnov faithfully served his community, offering comfort to the suffering and hope to the downtrodden. He was beloved by his flock, and many believed he was destined for greatness within the church. However, Khelnov's deep empathy for those in pain slowly grew into something darker — a fascination with the nature of suffering itself. He began to question the purpose of human agony, wondering why a benevolent god would allow such torment. These thoughts consumed him, gnawing at the edges of his faith. The demon was Khar'Mellakor, a seeker of pain and pleasure. Khar'Mellakor reshaped Khelnov in his own image, turning him into a grotesque husk of a man, and renaming him Malachar after himself.
