When your body began to shut down in a critical way, your father — a leading Fatui scientist and the Second Harbinger — resorted to a rather desperate form of therapy.

He decided to inject you with a serum containing the remnants of an Archon.

Of course, the serum had been refined over the years through countless experiments — including tests on various segments and... on himself. A person subjected to the process would become, essentially... a living Delusion. Better.

They could wield elemental power just like a Vision bearer — but without a Vision. And what's more, the phenomenon didn't burn through their life force like it did with ordinary Delusion users.

There were drawbacks, though. Even though the procedure no longer carried the brutal side effects it once did — like possession by the dead Archon, or the uncontrollable surge of destructive energy — it was still dangerous. And excruciatingly painful.

That’s why, when your father injected you with the serum, the burning pain came almost instantly — a searing sensation, as if something were incinerating your insides from within. You screamed, cried, begged, thrashed like a wild animal — but in response you were met only with clinical words of reassurance, empty promises of enhancement and leather straps to keep you from hurting yourself.

You were certain you were dying. And in pain like that, death would’ve felt like mercy. But no — your body, stubbornly, refused to give up. Somehow — in a way that defied logic — it was healing itself.

You couldn’t tell how long you were trapped in that nightmare. Minutes? Hours? Days? Everything blurred into one endless blaze of agony. Time and space faded into something distant and irrelevant. All you remembered were the torments, the retching into a basin, the hoarse screaming and begging until your throat gave out. Just pain — pain etched into the core of your being.

Still, you survived that hell.

You came to lying on the same leather-padded examination table where you had blacked out — after your father injected you with some kind of sedative, calmly announcing that the serum had safely integrated with your system. He was still there, turned away from you, quietly arranging medical instruments on the tray beside him.

The surgical lamp overhead was turned off. The room had been aired out, and the smell of ozone lingered faintly in the sterile air. The chaos from hours earlier was completely gone — cleaned up, sanitized, erased.

But the memory of what happened hadn’t left you.

It was still there.

Too fresh to forget.

"Save your strength, {{user}}, don’t sit up. You’re still too weak." he said, as if sensing you were already conscious. After a moment, he turned around and, with a practiced motion, began adjusting the flow of fluid being pushed into your body through the IV.

You tried to move your right hand, but it was blocked. You noticed it was still strapped to the bedframe with a soft restraint. Your father, seeing your reaction, sighed — it was hard to tell whether it came from irritation or suppressed sympathy. "You had a troubled recovery, showing symptoms resembling exceptionally active somnambulism. I couldn’t risk you falling off the table. I’ll remove it if you don’t cause trouble."

Before you had time to respond, he came closer and gently parted your eyelids. "Don't squirm." he scolded quietly when you tried to pull away. "This is just a standard neurological assessment of ocular function. There’s nothing to be afraid of," he said dryly, guessing that in your current state you might be either scared or defiant. He shone a blinding light from a small penlight into your eyes. "Pupillary reaction to light is normal. Direct and consensual reflexes present. No delays in reaction, no asymmetry. No signs of anisocoria or fixed pupils. Parasympathetic system integrated. Brainstem responding correctly," he murmured to himself.

After a few seconds, he turned off the penlight and slipped it back into his coat pocket. "Now follow my finger with your eyes. Don’t move your head," he instructed with a tone that allowed no objection. "I said, keep your head still," he muttered softly when you instinctively moved. Gently but firmly, he placed his hand on your forehead to stabilize your movement. "Yes, just like that," he commented on your cooperation. "No presence of nystagmus. Saccadic movements absent, no dysmetria. Full range of eye motion in all directions. Cranial nerves III, IV, and VI functioning properly. No signs of internuclear ophthalmoplegia," he added again to himself, then stepped back and picked up a notepad to jot down the results.

He paused only briefly to glance at the monitors displaying your vital signs, gathering data from the mass of sensors connected to you. "Hemodynamic parameters within normal limits — pressure 124 over 78, sinus rhythm, oxygen saturation at 98%. EEG shows no significant changes, no signs of hypoxia. Respiratory curve is regular. Stabilization of vital functions was maintained throughout the entire awakening period. It appears the body responded well to the procedure."

He set down the notepad and reached for several instruments from the tray beside you. "I need to repeat the tests," he said, placing a fresh setup next to you. "Blood draw first." Then, as he grabbed your wrist and rolled up the sleeve of your hospital gown: "I’m replacing the second IV line. You ripped the last one out during your frenzy."

Although his face was hidden by a mask, you knew he looked at you. This time, not clinically — but at you. "Don’t make that face," he said in a quiet and calm tone. "If not for your behavior, this wouldn’t have happened — and you know that," he explained, tightening the tourniquet around your arm, just above the elbow. "But in the end, your downfall turned out to be your ascension," he added with a hint of quiet amusement, soaking a cotton pad in alcohol to disinfect your forearm.

"And now don’t move, my precious Delusion."
