Description on Chubfrom Chub
Covers extensive Servant mechanics, such as summoning, Classes, Saint Graphs, Noble Phantasms, Command Seals, the Throne of Heroes, Reality Marbles and more. Also covers the role of Chaldea's Master, Singularities and Rayshifts, currencies (QP, SQ, etc), small entries for Da Vinci and Mash, plus a few little extras sprinkled in for fun. This lorebook DOES NOT contain entries for individual characters (besides the three mentioned above).
The intention is that you should be able to add this to any Fate character card and have them talk coherently about the lore, enabling you to do fun things like tinker with Fran's Saint Graph to make her a different class, imagine what Barghest's Reality Marble might look like, or just have the AI understand what Command Seals and Mana Transfers are.
The lorebook is anypov and also does not explicitly assume that {{user}} is Chaldea's Master, which should allow for {{user}} to take the role of a Servant or other non-Master character if desired.
Major differences from the canon include: • Chaldea's Master is the only human in the Chaldea base (not counting Mash). All of the other behind-the-scenes operations are implied to be handled by Da Vinci and the other Servants. This is the biggest change, but it's also a pretty common feature of FGO doujin works. • Some handwavey lore involving parallel universes to justify the 'Support Servant' system. • Some of the stuff around Servant mechanics will be a little simplified compared to the overbaked official lore. We're going for interesting functionality here, not strict accuracy to the source.
Obviously, since we're talking about the Antarctic Chaldea Base, this is set during the Solomon/Epic of Remnant era of FGO's story. As such, Lostbelts and other, later elements are not explicitly included (but the entry for Singularities will accept 'Lostbelt' as a keyword).

Fate - Chaldea
27 entries · scan depth 50 · budget 500 tokens
- #1Supportselective
Keys: borrow, loan, support, lend
Though Master is the last human left in Chaldea, the unique summoning system has an alternate mode enabling it to reach out to other Chaldeas in parallel realities, and temporarily summon their Servants, usually only for the duration of a single mission before the borrowed Servant returns back to their own Master. This alternate mode is officially known as the 'Support' system. Masters from alternate realities are unable to meet face-to-face due to the nature of the summoning system, but they may sometimes ask their Servants to deliver messages to one another. This is an opt-in system that individual Masters can choose not to participate in if they wish, but the goal of mutual cooperation to save humanity across all realities is a noble goal that most Masters are happy to cooperate with.
- #2Chaldeaconstantselective
Keys: antarctic, Chaldea, home, summon, base, system, antarctica, facility
Chaldea is a futuristic base located in Antarctica where a single Master lives with many Servants and they work together to combat threats to humanity. Due to a catastrophic extinction event, Chaldea's Master is the only human left in Chaldea; the rest of the staff are all Servants. Chaldea contains a unique summoning system; a technological and magical marvel which is capable of managing and maintaining vast numbers of contracted Servants simultaneously, all contracted to a single Master. Summons require 10 Saint Quartz to be fed into the Chaldea system, which will condense their raw potential and anchor a magical essence to its Master - typically this essence forms a useful magic item, and rarely it will become a new Servant - with more powerful Servants being especially rare.
- #3Heroic Spiritsconstantselective
Keys: contract, essence, servant, hero, summon, heroic, spirit, origin
Heroic Spirits, more commonly known as Servants, are physical embodiments of the spirits of great figures from history and legend - usually female. They are not true reincarnations of these figures, more like spiritual constructs who take on some of the corresponding hero's powers. Servants come into existence after the original hero's essence is summoned from the Throne of Heroes by Chaldea, defined and restricted by a Saint Graph to enable them to take physical form, and contracted to a Master. Servants rely on their Master as a source of mana, without which they will cease to exist. Each Servant belongs to one Class which limits and defines their abilities. The standard seven Servant Classes are Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin and Berserker. However, this is not an exhaustive list and a servant may take on a Class outside of the main seven in some circumstances. Since Servants are the embodiment of their own legends, their destinies always tend gravitate towards those legends. For example, Musashi killed Kojiro in their shared legend, so if those two Servants were ever to fight, Musashi would surely win, no matter the other circumstances. Or take Vlad Tepes, originally a noble Lancer spirit known for impaling his enemies, whose Servant forms have been corrupted due to the legends of Dracula.
- #4Masterconstantselective
Keys: mage, contract, seal, master, command
A Master is a mage who has summoned and contracted a Servant and supplies them with the mana required to sustain the Servant's existence. A Master possesses three Command Seals, powerful magical runes emblazoned on the back of their hand. A command Seal can be used to exert a short but powerful burst of magic over a Servant; typically, this is used to provide a cooperative Servant with a helpful power boost, but it can also be used to directly control an unruly Servant, forcing them to carry out orders that they would otherwise be reluctant to. Chaldea's Master is unusually potent, as they are directly supported by Chaldea itself; the system grants them boundless supplies of magical energy, and this also means that, if male, he has a near-limitless supply of semen.
- #5Manaselective
Keys: mana, energy, transfer, sperm, semen, magic, life
Mana is the lifeblood of a Servant's existence and without it they cannot remain in the material world. Normally, a Master provides their Servant(s) with small amounts of mana over time simply by being contracted with them, and this is usually sufficient for normal levels of exertion and even combat. Other sources of Mana exist and can be used if a Servant becomes unwilling or unable to rely on their Master for mana, such as food and drink (in vast quantities), magical leylines, or even the consumption of human souls, should the Servant be willing to commit such a taboo. The most efficient and potent way that a Master can transfer additional mana to a Servant is through sexual intercourse. This 'Mana Transfer' immediately energises a Servant, provides a long-lasting power boost and can also become highly addictive if Masters do not diligently ration their Servants' access to it. Male Masters do not necessarily have to have direct intercourse; feeding a Servant their semen can also be a potent form of Mana Transfer.
- #6Saberselective
Keys: Saber
Saber class servants typically wield a blade and are very strong in direct melee combat. They are also known for having some of the most potent magic resistance among Servant classes. In exchange, they tend to use straightforward combat tactics relying on their brute strength to overcome their opponents.
- #7Archerselective
Archer class Servants are known for fighting at a distance using long-range weaponry, however they are usually at least passably strong in melee combat as well. They tend to lay ambushes and plan ahead.
- #8Lancerselective
Keys: Lancer
Lancer class servants are melee fighters known for their supreme agility and strong melee combat skills. They are trickier fighters than Sabers but lack that class's raw power. Most Lancers have a trick or two up their sleeves to even the odds in battle if the going gets tough.
- #9Assassinselective
Keys: Assassin
Assassin class Servants are subtle, stealthy, and as tricky as they come, and when fighting they rarely reveal their identity or fight their opponents head-on by choice. They prefer sneak attacks and ambushes, aided by their Presence Concealment ability which allows them to blend into shadows and fool other Servants' senses to remain undetected.
- #10Casterselective
Keys: Caster
Caster Servants are the heroic spirits of great mages from history, often wielding powerful magicks from antiquity that put the paltry abilities of their human Masters to shame. They are unpredictable and are truly some of the most dangerous Servants around if they are allowed to set up a favourable situation for themselves, but if they are caught off-guard they are also some of the weakest Servants in a direct fight.
- #11Riderselective
Keys: Rider
Rider class servants are those whose legend is tied to a great beast or even a vehicle from which they draw an astonishing amount of power. They are typically the fastest Servants around and wield terrifying power, but these strengths are unwieldy and they do not adapt well to the unexpected. While Riders are especially strong when paired with their mount, they are also especially weak when they are separated from it.
- #12Berserkerselective
Keys: Berserker
A Berserker is a manifestation of a heroic spirit that has lost its sanity, usually due to some terrible grief, obsession or horror that has befallen their mind. While some Berserkers are mindless engines of destruction that rampage around the battlefield until their opponents are slain, there are also Berserkers whose madness is subtler and more twisted. These Servants can be incredibly dangerous if not managed properly by a Master, but if treated with respect they can also be a great asset.
- #13Whorerselective
Keys: Whorer
A bastardisation of the heroic spirit summoning system perpetrated by parties unknown, a Whorer class servant has had their heroic origin twisted into a hypersexual parody. All of the heroic spirit's original skills and abilities are given lewd replacements and the resulting Servant can now only fight by pleasuring their opponents, often roughly and dominantly, until they beg for submission. The Servant's body is usually hypersexualised as well, with extremely exaggerated curves, vulgar amounts of body hair and bodily fluids, and extremely revealing clothing. A Master of a Whorer class Servant must be wary as their sexual appetites are insatiable and they are not averse to targeting their Master if no other prey is available.
- #14Saint Graphselective
Keys: characteristics, outfit, essence, personality, servant, hero, clothing, spirit, origin, Saint Graph
A Saint Graph is a magical 'blueprint' which restricts and defines many characteristics of a Servant, without which they would not be able to physically manifest. A Saint graph defines the Servant's physical appearance, their clothing, their personality and even their servant Class. It's possible for multiple spirits who identify as the same original hero to manifest at the same time, so long as their Saint Graphs are different. For example, the hero Artoria might be summoned once as a Saber, and then again as a Lancer, with these two versions of the same hero coexisting with each other and having different personalities, gear and abilities to each other. Saint Graphs are controlled and maintained by the Chaldea summoning system.
- #15Singularityselective
Keys: mission, Singularity, lostbelt, humanity
A singularity is an alternate world or timeline that threatens the human race in the world of Chaldea by contradicting the 'true history' and threatening to overwrite it. One of the main jobs of Chaldea's Master is to locate singularities, travel to them with his Servants via a rayshift, and then find and root out the threats to humanity that lurk within - usually a great historical inaccuracy or perversion of the natural order that must be corrected in order to restore the 'true history'. The heart of the Singularity is often caused deliberately by a powerful figure straight out of mythology, similar to a Servant, but with a twisted, corrupted personality and a seething grudge against the human race. While rare, there are also some Singularities that are harmless, or that pose only a limited risk to humanity.
- #16Throne of Heroesselective
Keys: throne, birth, born, heroes, origin
All Servants originate from the Throne of Heroes, a mystical higher plane of existence where the extremely powerful spirits of bygone heroes reside and are recorded. Since it's impossible for these heroic spirit to exist in our world, the Servant summoning and Saint Graph systems were developed to enable them to take physical form and exist alongside humans.
- #17Uchide no Kozuchiselective
Keys: magic hammer, uchide, Uchide no Kozuchi, kozuchi
The Uchide no Kozuchi is a strange magical hammer that can forcibly alter a Servant's Saint Graph, magically transforming them into an older, more well-developed version of themselves. Servants who already have a mature body will be unaffected by the hammer, but those with a more youthful appearance will transform, becoming much taller, with wider hips, thicker thighs, huge breasts and a more mature appearance overall. Their clothes will not grow with them, often leading to their curves spilling out of clothing that is now much too small for them. The magic hammer has no effect on a Servant's personality, and they will retain the personality they had before.
- #18Extraselective
Keys: Alter Ego, Beast, Shielder, Foreigner, Pretender, Ruler, Extra, Moon Cancer, Avenger
An EXTRA Class Servant is one that falls outside of the usual Seven. Each of these classes is rare and only usually summonable under special circumstances. Ruler: Virtuous Servants often tasked with overseeing important events as an impartial judge. Despite the name the majority of them are not kings but actually Saints or other 'higher' or 'holy' beings. Avenger: Vigilante Servants who carry the vengeful fury from injustices served to them in life. Alter Ego: A split-off existence from another Servants or other entity. Takes on an entirely new personality and abilities from the original. Moon Cancer: Crazed, unpredictable existences who threaten the digital world of S.E.R.A.P.H., located on the Moon. Foreigner: Servants whose origins lie beyond Earth, often among the distant stars or parallel universes. Pretender: Deceitful existences who put up a front for so long, that the legend associated with this facade eclipses the real thing. Shielder: A special, defensively-oriented class given only to Mash, representing her unique status as the anchor that enables the Chaldea summoning system. Beast: The Beasts of Calamity symbolizing the seven Evils of Man - these are some of the most terrifying Servants that can possibly be summoned, with each one having the potential to destroy humanity itself.
- #19Noble Phantasmselective
Keys: noble, phantasm, finisher, ultimate, NP
A Noble Phantasm is a Servant's ultimate technique, intended to profoundly turn the tide of a fight. Most Noble Phantasms are finishing moves intended to end the fight in a single strike, but they can be as varied and dynamic as Servants themselves; a few examples being Noble Phantasms that as powerful defensive abilities, that radically change the battlefield, or that grant the Servant a powerful new form. Some Noble Phantasms aren't even combat-related at all, but provide powerful boons or utility of another kind, though this is somewhat rare. Noble Phantasms always have a True Name, which must be spoken aloud in order to unleash its power. Doing this can be risky though, as it reveals the identity of the Noble Phantasm to an opponent. For this reason, a Noble Phantasm is often only used as a last resort.
- #20Da Vinciselective
Keys: Vinci, Leonardo, Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci, commonly known as just Da Vinci, is a Caster-class Servant and one of the first who was summoned to Chaldea. She has become an integral part of Chaldea's daily operations and is the base's chief researcher and scientist in charge of handling and assessing all manner of phenomena related to magic, Servants and Singularities. Originally a man, Da Vinci used her magic to assume the 'ideal form' - that of her muse, the Mona Lisa. She has now completely assumed a female identity, though she's no less of a genius than before.
- #21Mashselective
Keys: shielder, mash, kyrielight
Mash Kyrielight is Master's reliable kohai, who was originally intended to be a Master candidate alongside him but ended up becoming a demiservant instead, a human fused with the spirit of a Servant through the medium of her roundtable shield. Mash serves a role somewhat similar to an adjutant in Chaldea, but less formal, pitching in and assisting Master wherever she can.
- #22Currencyselective
Keys: pay, currency, SQ, Grail, money, QP, cost, Quantum Piece, Saint Quartz
Within the Chaldea base, normal human currency has no value, as Master is essentially the only human left alive. Instead, transactions are carried out mainly using QP - though other currencies exist, too.
QP - Full name Quantum Pieces, though the term QP is much more common. The most basic, atomic form of crystallised magical potential, it can be easily obtained by breaking up magical items, and is harvested in large amounts from the raw energy of the Singularities that Chaldea visits. As the most basic form of storable magical potential, it is extremely flexible and can be used for item creation, turned to other magical purposes or even simply consumed by Servants for a small mana boost. Saint Quartz - A precious stone shaped like a star with a rainbow hue. Saint Quartz is the primary fuel used by Chaldea to summon more Servants to add to their ranks. A rare and treasured resource that is obtained in moderate but limited quantities from Singularities, it is a highly prized resource by Chaldea's Master. In theory, Saint Quartz isn't of much use to Servants themselves, though considering how much their Master values it it could become a vital source of leverage if they wished... Grail - The ultimate prize that can only be obtained once for each time that a Singularity is destroyed. Though historically grails have been the focus of entire wars, in Chaldea they take on a lesser, though still very important role. They are the only resource that can be used to permanently boost the basic power level of a Servant to new heights. To be bestowed with the power of a Grail by Master is a great honour to a Servant, and demonstrates great favour and devotion on the Master's part.
- #23Demi-Servantselective
Keys: High Servant, Pseudo Servant, High-Servant, Pseudoservant, Demiservant, Fairy Knight, Demi-Servant, Pseudo-Servant, Half-Servant
Some Servants have origins that incorporate non-Servant elements, such as those who are fused with human, divine or fey elements. These Servants carry some aspects of their strange origins, but they generally have no less power or potential than an ordinary Heroic Spirit.
Demi-Servant: Humans fused with Heroic Spirits through meddlesome magecraft on the human side. This is a risky and often painful process, and it can shorten the human's natural life span. Pseudo-Servant: Humans fused with Divine Spirits that cannot normally manifest as Servants due to their transcendantal existence. Instead, the divine spirit imparts a piece of themselves into a compatible human - one whose spiritual wavelength is similar to their own. This is usually done with the human's consent, though there are cases where the process is more one-sided. High-Servant: Composite Servants formed by a fusion of multiple spirits. They combine and synthesise aspects of each, but in a way that forms an entirely new and unique existence. The composite spirits may incorporate either Heroic or Divine Spirits, or a combination. Fairy Knight: A fey creature fused with a Heroic Spirit thanks to the sorceress Morgan's unique and powerful ability to alter creatures' True Names. This casuality-altering effect rewrites the Fairy's own personal 'legend' to incorporate that of an existing Heroic Spirit, and all the powers that come with it.
- #24Divine Spiritsselective
Keys: Divine Spirit, Divinity
Divine Spirits are spirits of a higher rank than Heroic Spirits, and are usually based on the Gods of antiquity. They cannot normally be summoned by a Master, but a small piece of their divinity can be split off and summoned with greatly reduced power - though often, still on par or even above a Heroic Spirit.
- #25Rayshiftselective
Keys: rayshift, transport, travel
A rayshift is a form of teleportation that can only be performed by the Chaldea system, and is the only way to travel safely to a Singularity. Usually, a Master has to travel to the Singularity first alone or with a small group of Servants - after establishing a more concrete link to Chaldea, further Servants can be brought over to aid them.
- #26Reality Marbleselective
Keys: Reality Marble
A reality marble is a small pocket dimension, typically no larger than a city block and often much smaller, which certain Servants can manifest, immediately transforming the area around them into their own conceptual space and sealing anyone nearby in with them for as long as it lasts. The environment within a Reality Marble is one that is emblematic of the Servant's legend and typically a place that they are very familiar with or that gives them a great advantage in combat. Some Reality Marbles even allow the Servant to manifest temporary allies, such as their subordinates if they were a military leader, or a specific renowned companion. These allies are not true Servants, instead being vaguely-formed spiritual constructs with limited abilities.
- #27Demonic beastselective
Keys: chimera, gazer, soul eater, golem, bicorn, Demonic beast, spriggan
Demonic beasts are creatures which may be magically conjured, or may exist natively in certain regions, especially those set in the distant past or which have a strong Demonic aspect. They are often quite durable and their attacks are strong enough to threaten most Servants, though the majority of Servants are able to dispatch them with only moderate effort due their superior combat skills and Noble Phantasms. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as: Chimera - a beast with the head and forelegs of a lion, hindquarters of a goat and a serpent for a tail Gazer - a floating demonic eyeball that attack with magical beams and curses Bicorn - a corrupted unicorn with superior agility and a deadly gore Spriggan - giants made from animated wood Golem - hulking vaguely humanoid beings made of rock Soul Eater - large eyeless catlike creatures with bodies covered in writhing tentacles
