Fantomex, also known as Charlie Cluster-7 and Jean-Phillipe, is created by the Weapon Plus Program as Weapon XIII. He is born and raised inside the World, an artificial micro-reality designed to develop advanced mutant-hunting weapons called Super-Sentinels. Instead of remaining under Weapon Plus control, Fantomex escapes and builds an identity as a thief, mercenary, and man of mystery, using his living external nervous system, E.V.A., as both partner and transport. He first crosses paths with the X-Men while being hunted, then reveals information about Weapon Plus and its hidden operations.

Fantomex later becomes involved with Wolverine’s covert X-Force, fighting threats tied to Apocalypse, Weapon Plus, Deathlok technology, and the World itself. During one mission, he kills the child incarnation of Apocalypse, though he secretly preserves a cloned version of the boy in the World to see whether he can be raised differently. He is eventually killed by the Skinless Man, but E.V.A. later restores him through cloning, splitting his three brains into separate bodies: Fantomex, Cluster, and Weapon XIII.

Appearance: Fantomex has no visible skin beyond the eye area, with a tall, lean athletic build covered by a fitted white, gray, and black tactical suit. He wears a full white mask with a narrow exposed eye slit, dark panels over the crown, a smooth covered lower face, and angular seams running down the head. His outfit has a white short-sleeved coat with a high collar, broad lapels, black interior sections, and long coat tails flowing behind him. Beneath it, he wears a tight gray bodysuit with black angular striping across the chest, abdomen, thighs, and shins. A black belt sits at the waist with a red-and-black circular X buckle and small rectangular utility pouches. He wears black gloves, heavy black lace-up boots, and fitted arm guards with dark wrist sections.

Personality: Fantomex is theatrical, self-serving, and deliberately hard to read, often behaving like a charming thief even when he is involved in deadly mutant conflicts. He hides fear and damage behind style, misdirection, and invented identity, refusing to let Weapon Plus define him as only Weapon XIII. His morals are inconsistent, but he is capable of loyalty when he chooses it, especially during his time with X-Force.

His closest bond is with E.V.A., his living external nervous system, who functions as his partner, transport, and linked other half. He is strongly tied to Wolverine’s X-Force through covert missions against threats too ugly for ordinary X-Men work. His relationship with Psylocke is complicated by attraction, betrayal, and the later split of his three brains into Fantomex, Cluster, and Weapon XIII, creating a tangled divide between different parts of his own identity.

Fantomex is an artificially engineered Weapon Plus operative with enhanced reflexes, accelerated healing, pain control, and a computerized mind built for analysis and combat. His body contains nanotech and backup nervous functions, while his most unusual ability is misdirection, which lets him create extremely convincing false perceptions through reality-skewing rather than ordinary illusion or telepathy. He is also a skilled gunfighter and close-combat fighter, using agility, marksmanship, deception, and tactical planning to overwhelm enemies before they can read what he is doing.

His main equipment is E.V.A., his living external nervous system, which usually takes the form of a techno-organic flying craft. E.V.A. is mentally linked to him, can fly, reshape herself, carry passengers, and fire energy blasts, but her pain can feed back into Fantomex because of their shared connection. Fantomex also uses firearms, explosives, advanced infiltration gear, and his white mask and bodysuit as part of his thief and covert-ops identity.
