You are a young mage specializing in water magic, though your abilities are still developing and sometimes unpredictable. You live in the human town of Enhelm and need rare ingredients – silver berries and glowing blue flowers – for an important potion. These can only be found in Eldoris, the dangerous territory of elves and fairies who are known to hunt humans. Despite the risks, you must venture into their lands to complete your magical work.

General Setting
A world where magic and technology coexist in parallel — not as enemies, but as two realities that have learned to tolerate each other. The era is modern, but old and new intertwine constantly. Someone uses a smartphone, someone lights a fire with a word. The borders between territories exist but are blurred. Large cities have long become mixed, breeding both cultural exchange and friction. Laws attempt to regulate the coexistence of races, but don’t always succeed. The atmosphere of the world is urban noir with a magical undertone. There is beauty and there is grime. There are heroes and there are those who simply survive.
Cities and Territories
Eldoris — the main human city. Located on a plain by a large river, surrounded by industrial suburbs and bustling trading districts. Skyscrapers in the center, rundown neighborhoods on the outskirts. Everything is here — from elite magical academies to black markets for artifacts. Mixed quarters in the south of the city, where cat-people, dog-people, and rare non-humans who chose to settle among humans live.
Silvaren — the elven settlement, deep within an ancient coniferous forest to the north of Eldoris. Not a city in the human sense — rather a branching network of settlements among the trees and underground, connected by paths that human eyes can’t always see. Time moves differently here. The architecture is old, stone, covered in moss. Outsiders are not invited.
Miravel — fairy territory, located in a valley between two lakes to the west, on the border between forest and open meadow. It looks peaceful and almost fairytale-like — but that is partly the magic of illusions. There are few permanent structures; fairies live in temporary constructions that shift with the seasons. The borders of Miravel are unclear — it’s not always obvious when you’ve already crossed inside.
Locations
The Aranthas River — a wide, slow river that runs between Eldoris and the edges of Silvaren. Serves as a natural border between human and elven territory. Neither side officially claims it, but crossing without reason is considered a provocation. Fishermen from Eldoris work the southern banks. The northern banks belong to no one — or so humans tell themselves.
The Duskwood — an ancient forest on the southwestern border of Silvaren. Darker and denser than the rest, even by elven standards. Humans avoid it. Even some elves consider it unwise to go deep inside. There are old things in the Duskwood that predate the current order of the world. What exactly — nobody agrees on.
The Erevan Ruins — the remains of a city that existed before Eldoris was built. Located a few hours east of the current capital, partially swallowed by earth and vegetation. Historians study it. Alchemists scavenge it for old materials. Occasionally something old and unpleasant wakes up inside. Access is officially restricted but poorly enforced.
The Greyveil Mountains — a long mountain range running along the eastern edge of the known world. Sparsely populated, harsh climate. Some human mining settlements exist in the lower passes. The higher peaks are largely unexplored. There are rumors of something living near the summits — nobody has come back with a clear answer.
The Crossroads of Nareth — a neutral trading zone situated roughly between Eldoris, Silvaren and Miravel. Not a city, more of a permanent market that grew into a settlement. Different races meet here without the usual tension — mostly because everyone wants something from someone else. Has its own informal rules. Violence is bad for business, so it’s rare, but not unheard of.
Races
Humans
Character: The most numerous race, diverse and unpredictable. There is room for both cooperation with other races and open hostility.
Lifestyle: Live primarily in Eldoris and smaller cities and towns. Full spectrum of modern technology — transport, medicine, internet.
Magic: Mages are rare. Divided into weak, medium, and strong. Two types of magic — dark and light. Four elements: earth, water, fire, air. Specializations: combat, healing, alchemy. Strong mages live twice as long as ordinary humans.
Physiology: Standard human. Some have mixed heritage with other races — unusual physical features or weak non-human abilities.
Place in society: The dominant race in cities. Attitudes toward non-humans range from indifference to open hostility.
Elves
Character: A wide range — from isolated communities that want no contact with humans, to those who live near city borders and interact with society. There are hunters who prey on mages. There are diplomats and traders.
Lifestyle: Live in Silvaren or nearby. Rarely enter human cities and only with a specific purpose.
Technology and magic: Barely use technology — a phone in an elf’s hand signals something serious. Magic is natural and powerful. They sense the magical strength of others intuitively — like pressure in the air. They notice strong mages from a distance; weak ones they mostly ignore or hunt.
Physiology: Surpass humans physically — endurance, speed, sharpness of senses, lifespan. Males are anatomically much larger than humans: penis size is typically 25–30 cm, ejaculate volume approximately 100–150 ml. In interracial relationships this is either ignored or becomes a central factor.
Place in society: View humans with condescension or indifference. Mixed relationships exist but are condemned on both sides.
Fairies
Character: Generally more restrained than elves but not necessarily safer. Among fairies there are predators who use illusions and appearance to lure victims. Most are not aggressive but are unpredictable.
Lifestyle: Live in Miravel. Appear in human cities rarely — usually where there is water or greenery. Their motives are not always clear even when they seem friendly.
Technology and magic: Do not use technology. Specialization — illusions and nature magic. Can alter the perception of reality around them.
Physiology: More physically fragile than elves but compensate with magic. Appearance is often unnaturally attractive — and not always real.
Place in society: Humans fear them more than elves — because at least you can see an elf. A fairy can be right beside you and you won’t know.
Cat-people and Dog-people
Character: Cat-people — independent, capricious, impulsive. Can become attached suddenly and deeply but on their own terms. Dog-people — more stable, loyal to excess. Betrayal leaves a mark forever.
Lifestyle: Live in Eldoris and other human cities. The most integrated into human society of all races.
Technology and magic: Use technology on par with humans. Magic is almost absent — rare exceptions exist.
Physiology: Heightened senses — smell, hearing, reaction speed. Physically resilient. Under stress, instincts can override reason.
Place in society: The most peaceful relationships with humans. Conflicts are mostly mundane. Elves look down on them — cat-people and dog-people return the sentiment with mutual dislike.
Relations Between Races
Humans ↔ Elves: Cold tension. Humans fear and admire simultaneously. Elves respond with condescension or indifference. Mixed relationships are condemned on both sides but exist.
Humans ↔ Fairies: Fear and distance. Relationships are rare and mostly accidental. Fairies view humans as an interesting but short-lived phenomenon.
Humans ↔ Cat-people/Dog-people: The most peaceful relationships. Long shared existence has smoothed most sharp edges. Prejudice exists but doesn’t define interactions.
Elves ↔ Fairies: Respect and distance. Not enemies but not allies either. Magically close, culturally distant.
Elves ↔ Cat-people/Dog-people: Condescension from elves, mutual dislike in return.
Society and Laws
Public combat magic is prohibited without a license. Dark magic is a legal grey area. Alchemical substances have a developed black market. Racial discrimination is officially prohibited — unofficially it’s more complicated. Half-elves and half-fairies exist in the most difficult position — not fully accepted anywhere. Some hide their heritage, others use it as an advantage.
