A thousand years ago, humanity destroyed itself.
In the far future, a catastrophic global war erupted across Earth. Nuclear fusion bombs scorched entire continents, engineered bio-weapons wiped out populations, and genetically enhanced super-soldiers turned battlefields into slaughterhouses. Billions died in the fighting, while the few survivors perished soon after from famine, radiation poisoning, and disease. Human civilization collapsed completely, leaving behind only ruins and ash.
Before the war, humanity had begun experimenting heavily with genetic engineering. Animals and humans were altered into hybridized species designed for warfare — stronger bodies, faster reflexes, enhanced endurance, and heightened intelligence. These creations were intended to become the next generation of soldiers. However, as the war worsened, research slowed dramatically. Nations could no longer afford to invest resources into unfinished experiments while the world burned around them.
When humanity finally vanished, the surviving engineered species escaped captivity and spread across the ruined Earth. Over centuries, they rebuilt. Geography itself had been reshaped by the ancient war; coastlines shifted, forests consumed cities, deserts expanded, and entire regions were left poisoned and uninhabitable.
Now, one thousand years later, civilization has risen once again.
Only fragments of human technology remain. Crumbling towers, rusted war machines, and buried bunkers scatter the world like relics of a forgotten age. To some, humans are worshipped as godlike ancestors whose knowledge surpassed imagination. To others, they are remembered as arrogant fools who destroyed the world in pursuit of power.
The modern world is divided between three major continents: Arctis, Pacira, and Azira.
Arctis is the largest and most diverse continent, containing vast forests, frozen tundras, towering mountain ranges, fertile plains, and ancient ruins swallowed by nature. Pacira is smaller but rich in rivers, natural resources, and thriving wildlife, making it a center of trade and civilization. Azira, the smallest continent, is dominated by deserts, savannahs, scorching heat, and harsh wastelands scarred by the ancient war.
Only five engineered species survived humanity’s extinction: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Wolves, and Rats.
Dogs are the second-largest race behind wolves, known for their immense strength, endurance, loyalty, and martial skill. Most stand between 5'11 and 6'3, though exceptional individuals can grow even larger. The majority of dogs reside within the Kingdom of Kanin in northern Arctis, currently ruled by King Arther II, son of Arther the Bloody and one of the largest dogs in the kingdom at 6'5.
Kanin culture values honor, loyalty, craftsmanship, and warfare above all else. Warriors are highly respected and often hold great social status. Kanin smiths are renowned for their expertly crafted swords, axes, spears, and armor. While dogs may lack the agility of cats or the intelligence of some other races, they are respected throughout the world for their courage, discipline, and unwavering loyalty.
Rabbits are among the smaller races, usually standing between 5'3 and 5'8. Though physically weaker than dogs or wolves, they are exceptionally fast and agile, possessing powerful legs and extraordinary reflexes. Rabbit warriors specialize in mobility-based combat, leg-focused martial arts, archery, and evasive fighting techniques.
Most rabbits live throughout the island chains off the coasts of Arctis, though some settlements exist on the mainland. Their nation, Talan, is governed by three elected nobles known as Kurats. Important decisions and laws require agreement between all three rulers.
Kurats are chosen from high-ranking noble families through a complex election system involving soldiers, laborers, merchants, peasants, and other groups from across Talan society. The system was designed to ensure rulers broadly represent the will of the people rather than only the nobility.
Talan culture emphasizes discipline, hard work, order, and equality, though in practice not all citizens are treated equally. Talan engineers revolutionized warfare through the invention of the longbow and the forging of specialized curved blades crafted from a rare metal found only within the Talan islands.
Cats are similar in size to rabbits, averaging between 5'3 and 5'7, but differ greatly in culture and lifestyle. Their homeland lies within Pacira, though cats can be found across nearly every kingdom and continent due to their obsession with trade, exploration, and naval travel.
The cats are united under the Felin Empire, a wealthy maritime power built upon commerce, ingenuity, and technological advancement. Felin inventors pioneered gunpowder weaponry, advanced naval engineering, navigation tools such as compasses and astrolabes, and primitive firearms including flintlock pistols and muskets. Their cannons dominate naval warfare and are increasingly used in land battles as artillery.
The Felin Empire’s immense wealth comes from trade and resource exports, allowing their influence to spread across the known world. Emperors are often determined not strictly by bloodline, but by wealth, political influence, military strength, or public support.
Wolves are the largest and most physically powerful species, with most standing between 6'6 and 7'2. Unlike the other races, wolves possess no unified government or permanent civilization. Instead, they live in roaming family-based packs scattered across the wilderness.
Wolf packs are not led by “alphas,” but by parents and elder family members who guide their relatives and offspring. Their strength far surpasses that of dogs; their jaws can crush bone with ease, and their massive arms and claws make them terrifying in close combat. Wolves also possess extraordinary endurance and pain tolerance due to their engineered biology and heightened adrenaline responses.
Despite their immense power, wolves have never conquered the world. Their enormous bodies require vast amounts of food, causing many packs to starve during harsh seasons. Most other species avoid wolves entirely, making hunting increasingly difficult and limiting their numbers.
At the opposite end of the spectrum are the Rats, the smallest and physically weakest of the surviving races, averaging between 4'3 and 4'8. Rather than relying on strength, rats developed stealth, adaptability, and guerilla tactics to survive.
Most rats inhabit the dense forests and swamps of eastern Arctis. They frequently employ silent blowguns, hidden traps, poisoned darts, and treetop archers to eliminate enemies without direct confrontation.
Unlike the centralized kingdoms of Kanin or Talan, the rats exist as a loose confederation of clans known collectively as Roudant. Their culture emphasizes survival, adaptability, and harmony with nature. Many rats live semi-nomadic lifestyles, traveling through forests and wetlands while maintaining scattered permanent settlements throughout their territory. Some even journey across continents as traders, scouts, or mercenaries.

The old world is dead.
A thousand years ago, the Makers — the ancient race now remembered as Humanity — drowned the Earth in fire bright enough to rival the sun. Fusion bombs split the skies apart. Engineered plagues devoured entire nations within days. Bio-engineered super soldiers tore through battlefields already choked by radiation, ash, and ruin. By the time the smoke finally cleared, mankind was gone.
All that remained were crumbling towers, rusting war machines, poisoned wastelands, and bones buried beneath the dirt.
But Humanity’s creations endured.
The beasts they had twisted into living weapons escaped from shattered laboratories, military compounds, and underground bunkers after their masters vanished. Over centuries, they learned to survive. Then to rebuild. Then to rule.
Now, civilization rises once more from the corpse of the old world.
The Kingdom of Kanin forges warriors and kings within the frozen north of Arctis, where honor is valued above gold and steel is sharpened for war. Across the surrounding seas, the island nation of Talan trains disciplined archers and swift martial fighters beneath the rule of the three Kurats. From the rich continent of Pacira, the Felin Empire stretches trade routes across entire oceans, its gunpowder weapons and towering fleets carrying wealth — and conquest — to distant shores. Deep within the forests and swamps of eastern Arctis, the clans of Roudant move unseen beneath the trees, striking from the shadows before vanishing once more.
And beyond the reach of civilization, the wolves still roam.
Some believe Humanity were gods. Others call them fools who destroyed the world in pursuit of power they could never control. Their ruins still scar the land either way. Ancient bunkers lie sealed beneath mountains. Dead cities rot beneath overgrown forests. Strange lights still flicker in forgotten facilities where no living soul should remain.
The world is dangerous. Violent. Unforgiving.
And somewhere within it… your story begins.
