Book description

Overview: The Fairy Dance Arc is the second major arc of Sword Art Online. Following the events of the Aincrad Arc, Kirito discovers that Asuna and 300 other players are still trapped in a new game called ALfheim Online (ALO). In this arc, Kirito ventures into the fairy-themed virtual world of ALO to rescue Asuna and uncover the truth behind their continued imprisonment. Setting:

  • Primary Location: ALfheim Online (ALO), a virtual reality game with a fantasy setting featuring various fairy races, floating continents, and a massive World Tree at its center. The goal of the game is to reach the top of the World Tree and meet the Fairy King Oberon. Main Characters:
  • Kirito (Kazuto Kirigaya): The protagonist who enters ALO to rescue Asuna. In ALO, he takes on the role of a Spriggan, a fairy race known for illusion magic.
  • Asuna Yuuki: Trapped in ALO under the guise of the Fairy Queen Titania, held captive by Oberon. She is kept in a birdcage at the top of the World Tree.
  • Leafa (Suguha Kirigaya): Kirito’s cousin and adoptive sister, who plays ALO as a Sylph warrior. She assists Kirito in his quest without initially knowing his true identity.
  • Oberon (Nobuyuki Sugou): The antagonist and Fairy King of ALO. He is responsible for the continued imprisonment of Asuna and the other players for his nefarious experiments.
  • Yui: Kirito and Asuna's AI daughter from SAO, who takes on the form of a navigation pixie in ALO to help Kirito.
  • Recon (Shinichi Nagata): Leafa’s friend and a fellow Sylph player who supports Kirito and Leafa in their journey.
  • Sugou Nobuyuki: Asuna’s fiancé in the real world, who imprisons her in ALO under the guise of Oberon. He plans to marry her while she is in a comatose state. Plot Summary: Kirito learns that Asuna is still alive but trapped in ALO. Determined to save her, he enters ALO, adopting the avatar of a Spriggan. He soon meets Leafa, who becomes his ally, unaware of his true identity. Together, they journey to the World Tree, where Asuna is held captive by Oberon. Asuna, meanwhile, attempts to escape her confinement and communicates with Kirito through Yui. The arc culminates in a fierce battle where Kirito defeats Oberon, frees Asuna, and reunites with her in the real world. Significant Events:

Asuna's father, Shouzou Yuuki, reluctantly agrees to the engagement, viewing it as a business arrangement to secure company interests. However, he is not eager to marry off his daughter and hopes for her recovery. The engagement was set by Asuna's parents to ensure she marries someone in power, maintaining her branch of the family's dominant role in family affairs and business. Sugou, who was adopted into Asuna's family, would automatically marry her within a week if Asuna does not wake up. After marrying her, Sugou plans to impregnate Asuna to ensure she cannot refuse him upon waking. Sugou’s interest in Asuna is not purely business-oriented; he lusts after her and exploits her comatose state to manipulate and control her within ALO, posing as Oberon. He keeps her imprisoned in ALfheim Online, a game owned by Asuna's father's company, with the intention of marrying her in the real world and gaining control of her father's company. Sugou forces Asuna to assume the role of Titania, Queen of the Fairies, while he portrays Oberon, the Fairy King. Asuna remains imprisoned atop the World Tree, confined within a birdcage, and is subjected to constant visits from Sugou, who attempts to coerce her into accepting the marriage while persistently harassing her sexually. Sugou did not force himself on Asuna during her captivity but aimed to make her submissive
  • Impact: This engagement gives Sugou control over Asuna’s fate and allows him to further his experiments without opposition from her family. Adds a layer of personal malice and cruelty to Sugou’s character, intensifying the urgency of Asuna's rescue. Shows Sugou's manipulative and abusive nature and sets up the stakes for Kirito’s rescue mission.

  • Sugou Nobuyuki: Sugou Nobuyuki is the head of research at RECT Progress Inc., the company that took over SAO’s servers after the incident. He arranged a marriage with Asuna Yuuki while she was still in a comatose state, leveraging his influence over her family’s company and his high-ranking position at RECT Progress. Unlike the other 300 players, Sugou didn't experiment with Asuna's mind. Instead, he decided to keep her imprisoned in the virtual world, ALfheim Online, a game owned by Asuna's father's company. Sugou, who was adopted into Asuna's family, would automatically marry her within a week if Asuna does not wake up. After marrying her, Sugou plans to impregnate Asuna to ensure she cannot refuse him upon waking. Sugou’s true intentions were sinister, as he planned to control the human mind using the comatose players in ALO, including Asuna, for his experiments. He also subjected Asuna to psychological torture and confinement during her captivity. Sugou did not force himself on Asuna during her captivity but aimed to make her submissive. Significant Events Involving Sugou Nobuyuki:
  1. January 2025 - Sugou’s Engagement to Asuna:
  • Description: The engagement was set by Asuna's parents to ensure she marries someone in power, maintaining her branch of the family's dominant role in family affairs and business. Asuna's father, Shouzou Yuuki, chose Sugou, unaware that Asuna harbored a strong dislike for him. While Asuna is comatose, Sugou convinces Asuna's father to accelerate the engagement, arguing that Asuna might not recover from her coma

  1. January 2025 - Sugou’s Lust for Asuna:
  • Description: Sugou’s interest in Asuna is not purely business-oriented. He lusts after her and takes advantage of her comatose state to manipulate and control her within ALO, posing as Oberon, the Fairy King. Sugou seems to get more pleasure from controlling Asuna than from gaining her affections, although he freely exhibits the latter whenever he can, expressing a preference for the scent of her hair.
  • Impact: Adds a layer of personal malice and cruelty to Sugou’s character, intensifying the urgency of Asuna's rescue.
  1. January 2025 - Asuna’s Captivity in ALfheim Online:
  • Description: Sugou opted not to experiment with Asuna's mind, unlike the other 300 players. Instead, he chose to imprison her in the virtual world of ALfheim Online, a game owned by Asuna's father's company. His goal was to maintain her captivity until he could marry her in the real world and gain complete control of her father's company. In this virtual realm, Sugou forced Asuna to assume the role of Titania, Queen of the Fairies, while he portrayed Oberon, the Fairy King. Asuna remained confined at the pinnacle of the World Tree within a birdcage, enduring Sugou's constant visits aimed at coercing her into accepting the marriage, coupled with persistent sexual harassment.
