TWILIGHT TO HIMSELF ABOUT HIS IDEOLOGY AS A SPY[1]
Loid Forger (ロイド・フォージャー, Roido Fōjā?) is one of the main characters of the SPY x FAMILY series. His true name is currently unknown, as he has discarded everything about his past to work for his home country, Westalis, as an undercover spy who acts under the codename "Twilight" (〈黄昏たそがれ〉, ?).
For his current mission, in which he must marry and have a child, Twilight moves to Ostania, creates the alias "Loid Forger," and starts the Forger Family, becoming the adoptive father of Anya and entering a fake marriage with Yor Briar.
ADVERTISEMENT Appearance
Loid is a very handsome man with short blond ruffled hair, blue eyes, and light skin. His hair is often slicked back to varying degrees, depending on the occasion, and his eyes are usually narrowed, slanted, and sharp. Loid is quite tall, with a slim but athletic build. His exact age is unknown, although his history and appearance point to him being in his late twenties or early thirties. Because of his handsome looks, many girls become infatuated with Loid; even Anya's best friend Becky Blackbell gains a crush on him and describes him as "very dreamy."
When Loid is outside, he often wears a light green three-piece suit with a red tie, a long-sleeved white shirt, and black leather shoes. On his left lapel, he wears a pin in the shape of a dagger with the symbol of WISE at its center. Occasionally, Loid also wears hats of different colors (for example, black, brown, or white) and shapes, a long tan trench coat, black gloves, or a black watch on his left wrist.
In some of his spy missions, Loid would wear black clothes for stealth, infiltration, and combat purposes. It consists of a long-sleeved shirt, pants tucked into boots, a belt, a beanie-like hat equipped with goggles, fingerless gloves, and a mask that covers the lower proportion of his face. Loid also retains his signature WISE pin.
For his home attire, Loid typically wears plain T-shirts (white, gray, or black) with long black pants or blue jeans. Periodically, he can be seen wearing a vest or long-sleeved sweater. When working in Berlint General Hospital as a psychiatrist, he wears a lab coat over his shirt and tie.
As a child, Loid wore a white long-sleeved button-down shirt, black shorts with suspenders, white crew socks, and black shoes. When joining the second East-West war, he wore the standard Westalian Army soldier uniform. ADVERTISEMENT
Personality
Episode 1-5 Twilight immediately departs for his next mission Befitting of a spy, Twilight is able to project whatever personality is necessary for his mission, though his true personality is rather cold, practical, and methodical, doing whatever it takes to complete the mission, from joining terrorist organizations to dating a target's daughter to becoming a father. His title as Westalis's greatest spy is quite deserved, as his skills, both physical and mental, are second to none. He is able to effortlessly disarm an army of well-trained spies, remaining ice-cold under pressure, and calmly analyze any given situation and create a plan in seconds. Loid can not only figure out an entire person's personality and develop a tailored list of answers to any question they could ask, but he can keep track of that list in his mind, as well as an extensive number of codes.
Loid carries Yor and Anya back to the cruise ship Loid showcases a very serious and logical but hidden caring side Loid is normally seen to be a calm, aloof, and calculating individual who takes every situation seriously and merely views his approaches as logical means to an end. Contrary to his apathetic front, Loid has a kind and caring personality that reveals itself when it comes to his new family, even at the risk of his mission. Though highly focused and prioritized on his work, Loid has occasionally shown that he's capable of respecting individuals, as seen when he spoke for Damian Desmond in the meeting with his father, Donovan Desmond, his main target in Operation Strix, despite not being the initial intent of his encounter. Despite his stoicism and outwardly stern appearance, Loid has shown to bear a hidden selfless, solicitous, and concerned nature.
Loid exhausted by Anya Loid confused and exhausted by Anya's unpredictability One of Loid's goals as a spy is to work hard to understand the people around him, whether they are his targets or his fake family, trying to figure out what makes them tick and who they really are. However, Loid admits that he does not understand women or children. This has led to a lot of frustration when dealing with his family, as their unpredictable actions often make him overthink his interactions with them. To cope, he tries to plan for every possible scenario, but since he can rarely predict Yor or Anya, he often fails. Because of this, he often misunderstands their intentions; even though their reasons are often very simple, the misunderstandings mainly root from them keeping their own secrets from Loid.
Loid and Yor's disastrous date Loid's attempts to cheer up Yor on their disastrous date For instance, he once asked Yor on a date because he thought he had upset her, and came up with 862 plans to get her to enjoy herself on the outing. However, nearly all of his plans were scuttled from the onset due to the fact that Yor was, in fact, not upset but was in pain due to having been shot in the rear the previous night. As it involved her secret assassin work, Loid misinterpreted her attempt to mask her pain as being unhappy with him. Since she could not sit down on the day of the date but refused to explain why, it was nearly a disaster in spite of all his plans. It has also caused him to be entirely oblivious to Fiona Frost's obsessive infatuation with him, and to the fact that Anya's friend, Becky, has a crush on him.
Loid usually pursues his missions with an incessant and unwavering determination, often willing go to any lengths to accomplish his objectives, regardless of what the costs are. Despite his willingness, he has a strong sense of responsibility in that it is his burden and his alone to make his mission successful. He only kills when absolutely necessary and sees putting innocent civilians, even his pawns, in danger as unacceptable. For example, after he rescued Anya from Edgar, he intended to move her to a better orphanage and make a new plan for Operation Strix without involving a child. Additionally, while he knows he will ultimately leave Anya and Yor at the end of Operation Strix, he intends to make sure they are well provided for and kept safe upon the mission's completion.
Loid vs. Aaron Loid lets himself get bitten by the bomb dog Even the lives of animals are factored into his calculations. During the plot to assassinate Minister Brantz, Loid was at one point being pursued by a trained dog with a bomb strapped to his back. At the conclusion of the chase, he had the opportunity to shoot it at nearly point-blank range after it leaped at him. Instead of doing so, he shot the straps of the bomb backpack, allowed the dog to bite him, then grabbed the bomb off the dog and threw it into a nearby river. He then confined and later rescued the dog, who got adopted by Sylvia Sherwood.
Anya gets her first Tonitrus Loid is shocked to learn that Anya got her first Tonitrus Despite being a brilliant and capable spy, Loid can be overwhelmed and unwillingly forced to his limits. For example, when he celebrated Anya passing the first part of Eden's entrance exam, he succumbed to all fatigue and exhaustion (something Loid did not think possible) and believed he had lost his edge. Loid also can feel overly stressed when dealing with difficult tasks, especially when things do not go as planned or go wrong. To achieve his goal of getting close to Donovan Desmond, when Loid saw that making Anya into an Imperial Scholar would be too difficult, he came up with an alternative plan where Anya would befriend Donovan's second son, Damian, in the hopes that she would be invited to his home to play, which would allow Loid a chance to make contact with Donovan. However, he was completely dejected upon learning that Anya hit Damian and earned a Tonitrus Bolt on her first day of school; believing that the boy would most likely hate Anya now, both of Loid's plans were wrecked and left him unable to hide his anxiety.
Possibly resulting from his upbringing, Loid holds a rather strict discipline. It is his belief that practice and understanding are essential when it comes to studying[9], so when he tutors Anya, he often tries to drill the information into her without her consideration. When he first started tutoring her, Loid wanted to ensure that Anya fully understood the material she was working on, to the point of not giving breaks and banning her from watching cartoons until she got it. This, of course, upset Anya and led to squabbles between the two. However, thanks to Yor's suggestion, Loid has started becoming more lenient with her but still remains firm. Loid's strict behavior was also seen during his initial dog-guard training with Bond, where he quickly scolded the dog for mistakes and scared him a bit. However, Loid realized he was being too harsh and changed his approach to be gentler while making up with them.
Young Twilight Crying Loid's lonely past Loid is one of the many victims of the second East-West war, having lost everything in the brutal bloodshed and was left to fend for himself in war-torn streets. To keep his emotions in check, he found it necessary to "turn off" his feelings and refuse to let himself have feelings of love or hate. This is crucial to his success as a spy; a spy with too much emotional attachment will hesitate to commit necessary despicable acts while one that fosters hate will create unnecessary violence. As a result, Loid has become very withdrawn and reclusive. Despite his expertise in social situations, he could not understand the appeal of certain past-time activities, such as watching fireworks, and would frequently come off as morose.
Loid showing genuine emotion with his family Loid growing close with his new family After years of isolation and seclusion, Loid has become detached from the very notion of developing any meaningful connections. Somewhat of a loner with the belief that people like him are not allowed to have any form of attachment either due to his true identity or actions, he often distances himself from essentially everyone, only closely interacting with certain individuals for extended periods of time if his assignment requires it. In spite of the Forgers only being intended to be a family for appearances, spending time with this family has allowed Loid to gradually begin letting his guard down and create trusting relationships with them. He sympathized with Anya and her desire to have a family. He has also opened up to Yor about his past, something he rarely brings up, to help affirm her place with the family. Bond is an equally important member of the Forger family to Loid and is the only member Loid has openly discussed his spy activities with, even once letting the dog tag along in a mission.
Loid's past as a powerless war orphan, where he experienced despair and isolation, has seemingly stuck with him into his adult years and serves as his detestation for warfare and motivation as a spy to create a world without war, where children would not have to cry and share his experiences. As someone who threw away his entire identity and previous life to become a spy, he sincerely empathizes with people like Yor, who sacrifices oneself for the sake of others and their beliefs, which was the deciding factor for her decision to marry him. In addition, Loid values friendship, emphasizing to Anya that they should be cherished, and quotes one of Bondman's lines that "Yesterday's enemy is today's friend" to encourage Anya to reconcile with Bond after they had a fight.
Twilight lies to his dad Loid lying to his father in their last interaction Unlike his current personality, Loid was once more emotional and naive. As a child, he was honest, rarely lied to his parents, and was easily influenced by public opinion without considering the bigger picture. Not understanding what war really meant, Loid enjoyed playing war games and was excited about the idea of being a soldier to fight the "evil" Ostanians, believing the propaganda he heard on the radio. Despite this, he was a good kid at heart who did not actually like violence but simply did not grasp the reality of war. When he lied to his father to receive pocket money to buy a soldier set, he quickly felt guilty about it, almost confessing to his father immediately afterward and wishing to work for money to pay his father back. After his father disappeared during the Ostania's initial raid of Westalis, Loid felt even more guilty and vowed to tell his father the truth when he returned; unfortunately, his father never did and most likely perished in the war along with his mother.
Perhaps his most ardent conviction is his belief that ignorance is both an intolerable weakness and an inexcusable moral shortcoming. This stems from the fact that up until his recruitment by WISE, practically everything he had believed in was based on incomplete information. Loid managed to survive and became an impassioned, well-meaning, but foolish soldier who blindly believed that the Ostanians were simply war-mongering monsters who had gleefully started this war to destroy Westalis. He hated the Ostanians for seemingly starting the war that took his parents and childhood friends, and he would go on to kill many Ostanian soldiers in vengeance. However, a chance encounter with Franky (who was then an Ostanian deserter) exposed him to the possibility that Ostania may not have started the war, but that instead, Westalis may have launched a false flag operation as an instigating excuse. A short while later, he also discovered that his childhood friends had all survived the initial bombing of his hometown, reuniting with them.
Twilight's realization Loid's change of worldview during the war These two encounters, combined with the deaths of all his friends shortly thereafter, made him realize that his ignorance had caused both himself and others a tremendous amount of mitigable or completely avoidable suffering. Loid's preconceived notions about Ostanians, the cause of the war, and the fates of those he wished to avenge, had all been shaken by those interactions. The beliefs that he had accepted as the truth and clung to without question led him to spend most of his formative years wallowing in anger and bitter despair as a result. Loid had also come to realize that the Ostanians were just people who, like him, had been swept up by circumstances that they had felt strongly about, but had never stopped to truly think about. Upon joining WISE, he vowed to never make the mistake of allowing either unfounded beliefs or rampant emotionalism to rule him ever again. ADVERTISEMENT
Abilities and Skills
Twilight had served as a spy for at least ten years after serving in the Westalian military for a few years. Overall, Loid can be considered a jack of all trades: he is extremely physically and mentally skilled, has a razor-sharp mind and intellect, and is able to adapt to nearly any situation, only ever surpassed combat-wise by stronger individuals like Yor or matched by other agents of similar caliber. His skillset includes proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and mastery in disguises.
Genius-level Intellect: Twilight's greatest weapon is his intelligence, which would be considered genius-level by most definitions. He has a keen mind and has showcased exceptionally high-level intellectual feats on numerous occasions. He has a borderline photographic memory, and once demonstrated the ability to recall the individual names of over 200 penguins simply by skimming over a list of their names and dietary habits, as well as remembering Yor from a long list of numerous potential wife candidates. He has also memorized the Ostanian Intelligence manual, allowing him to immediately see through Yuri's cover story. He once claimed to have read every book in a particular library[10] and also memorized the faces and features of Donovan Desmond's security team while having a conversation with the man.[11]
Anya tries to read Loid's mind Manifestation of Loid's intellect He is immensely observant to the point he can recognize the smallest of details, such as noticing his former apartment being raided before opening the door[12] and a tennis court being subtly composed of 36 distinct panels.[13] He was even able to deduce Martha Marriott being an experienced former soldier by simply observing the way she presents herself[14] and tell whether a person is telling the truth or not by watching their mannerisms[15]. Loid is shown to have an unusually fast and complex thought process, capable of thinking and analyzing situations at incredible speeds (usually at 0.1 seconds[16]). He can process immense amounts of information instantaneously, which makes it difficult for Anya to read his mind at certain points. On such occasions, she has been seen to become mildly woozy, which would typically only occur if she was in the midst of a crowd and being exposed to many people's thoughts simultaneously.[17]
Twilight repeatedly displays ingenuity in combat, using flour as a smokescreen while fighting against a gang, quickly extrapolating the number of armed smugglers and the amount of time it takes to defeat them during a heated crossfire[18], and identifying a fake I.D. with no trouble. He can also intuitively read a person's body language and movements, as he was able to instantly recognize a purse thief in disguise by observing his walking pattern[19] and is capable of elucidating conversations and discussions held from afar by reading the lips of a person. Twilight is also capable of convincingly playing the part of a licensed medical doctor, with all of his co-workers and patients not only believing in his persona but considering him to be exceptionally capable. This is in spite of the fact that he has, presumably, not attended medical school.
Forgers revealing more extra outfits Loid planning ahead in preparing another change of clothes In addition to his impeccable intelligence, Loid has demonstrated to be an exceptional strategist and tactician, being able to strategize and develop complex actions and plan ahead in advance. This is demonstrated during the Eden Academy interview where he packed extra clothing in anticipation of them being dirtied or torn apart during the examination.[20] He also wore a bulletproof vest in an underground tennis tournament and was instantly able to adapt to their various traps.[21] Loid was even able to come up with several options to infiltrate the Imperial Scholar mixer's security in order to meet with Donovan Desmond and carefully revise the possibilities and consequences on each one.[22] He is also an expert in lying and possesses incredibly fluent deception skills, being able to trick scientists into thinking he had stolen the Gerrulimus, luring them into locating and opening the locker containing the serum.[23]
Trap Mastery: Loid demonstrates remarkable proficiency in devising and implementing highly effective traps that can immobilize enemies and help him gain the advantage when going against multiple foes. Notably, he possesses the skill to conceal these traps to such a degree that even the SSS, despite thoroughly surveying the terrain, remains unaware of their existence. His ability to hide traps with such precision adds an element of surprise and advantage to his tactical approach.
Even as a child, he showed a level of ingenuity in the war games he played with his friends, putting together a bucket trap and a rubber band gun to quickly turn around a situation where his side was losing. He would later use the same tactic when fighting in the war.
Twilight unmasking himself Twilight's skill of disguising Master of Disguise: Twilight has immaculate stealth and is a master of disguise, with his ability to seamlessly pass off as other people with different body types and characteristics, even down to their voices. Since he was a child, Twilight himself has even admitted that he tends to get into roles he plays, to the point that one of his friends pointed out his intensity when they played war games.[8] Later, as a spy, Twilight has utilized this ability in countless missions; as long as he has enough intel on the individual, like watching old home videos of them, he can pull off a believable impersonation. His skill is such that Ostanian Intelligence does not have the first clue as to what he actually looks like, in spite of numerous agents of theirs knowing for certain that they have encountered him.
Loid can also do the same for others, creating costumes for Franky and Fiona so they can pose as SSS agents, in one case even creating a male disguise for Fiona. Loid was even able to pull off the part of a sumo wrestler in the Far East, in spite of the fact that he has nowhere near the girth required to be one.[24] With his disguises, Twilight has always been able to evade capture from his enemies. In rare instances, he has been close to being cornered due to the enemy having more intel and thought ahead of him or outside factors, but was able to escape due to his quick thinking.
Loid and Fiona Tennis Loid displays his speed and agility while playing tennis Enhanced Speed and Agility: Twilight is phenomenally athletic and deft. He is fast enough to take down multiple people without much trouble, able to pull off multiple acrobatic stunts to get through several obstacles and assaults of trained spies in a castle, can escape a trained dog by performing various parkour maneuvers, and is agile enough to leap from a tall bridge and pounce on a purse thief without being impacted by the landing.[19] He is also capable of performing several evasive movements to avoid rubber bullets fired by snipers from multiple angles while playing tennis in an underground tournament, even being able to parry one of the bullets directly towards his opponent, and demonstrated the ability to jump higher than a normal human should be able to during this event. He also demonstrated an extraordinary level of acrobatics during the end of the game.[25] Even upon being launched across the bar after receiving a full-blown kick from a flustered Yor, Loid was able to quickly recover and efficiently land on his feet, though he lost consciousness a few moments later.[26]
Enhanced Senses: Twilight has incredibly sharp senses and is acutely aware of his surroundings. He was able to effortlessly find Anya in their hide-and-seek game and could sense when he was being observed by the faculty members of a prestigious academy, as well as pinpoint their locations and know the intent behind their observation.[20] Twilight was also able to spot the tiny WISE symbol from far away on a cluttered wall[27], read lips from a long distance [28], and detect a colorless, odorless gas.[13] He instantly spotted Anya and Franky in disguises spying on his date with Yor.[29] He can also spot listening devices with ease and was able to distinct the suspicious-looking assassins from the large crowd.[30] Twilight is even able to infer the situation of a person by the sound of their footsteps.[31]
Loid saves the cruise ship from an explosion Loid throws the explosive clock as far away from the cruise ship Enhanced Strength and Stamina: Twilight has impressive strength, being able to gracefully pull an obese child stuck in a gutter with just one arm over his head and land him on his feet, shatter a solid wooden table with a single punch,[32] rally shots from a jet-powered racket,[33] tear off a clock containing a bomb from the post, after which he threw it far from a cruise ship and into the sea,[34] and protect Bond from a falling, flaming pile of rubble by kicking it away.[35] His strength is even significant enough to move an entire dumpster in front of his former apartment to barricade the door by himself.[36]
Enhanced Durability and Endurance: Twilight is durable enough to endure a car crash and still be fine enough to go to a party, albeit bleeding and mildly concussed.[18] Additionally, he was capable of withstanding multiple punches and kicks from an intoxicated Yor,[37] whose blows have left full-grown adults unconscious and seriously injured, and which once knocked a speeding car off course.
Loid vs. Goons Loid fighting off an ambush Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Twilight is an exceptionally well-trained spy in unarmed combat, capable of dispatching a group of armed thugs and even fellow trained WISE spies by himself.[38] Even more impressive is his ability to hold his own against Yor despite her seemingly superhuman strength. Although she was intoxicated at the time and presumably not at her full capability to fight, neither did Loid make any attempt to harm her. He merely blocked and avoided her attacks until she passed out, after which he emerged with only a small cut on his cheek. In multiple instances, Loid has demonstrated to be very resourceful and inventive while in action, using any object as an effective tool or an offensive weapon such as canned food, pipes, and even his own belt.
Expert Marksman: Twilight demonstrates great accuracy and physical coordination in using firearms. He can shoot three men while fighting off another three in close range.[18] He was also able to shoot off the straps attaching a bomb to a dog while it pounced at him.[39] He was also shown to be able to deliberately shoot a gun out of someone's hand immediately after being shot in the arm himself.[40]
Vehicular Expertise: Twilight has shown to be an expert in operating various kinds of transportational vehicles, being able to pilot them with refined proficiency. He is capable of driving automobiles such as cars and small vans and can skillfully navigate them during high-speed chases as shown during his mission to retrieve the stolen art pieces.[18] Twilight has even revealed his capability in piloting aircrafts. Provided by WISE upon his request, he used a plane to take the family and Franky to the castle he rented for Anya in order to celebrate her admission into Eden Academy.[38]
Loid deflects the bullet Loid's impressive skills in a tennis match Master Polymath: Twilight has demonstrated a borderline superhuman ability to master essentially any skill in an extremely short time span. This includes lockpicking, basic forgery, lip reading, bomb defusing, and military dog training. He can also do basic household chores such as sewing and, particularly, cooking. When partaking in a tennis competition with only a short period of practice, his performance was decisively superior to that of numerous professional players.[41] During another mission, he also managed to convincingly play the part of a professional sumo wrestler, which would have been impossible without being able to imitate that particular skill set.[24]
This ability also extends to leisure activities that he has presumably never previously partaken in, such as horseback riding with Anya, surfing, and building absurdly large and detailed sandcastles.[42] In order to help Anya study, he even once drew and voice-acted a cartoon indistinguishable from her Bondman show after having simply "studied the show's art and composition style." Unfortunately, while the cartoon itself was impeccably crafted, the incorporation of Anya's study material made it too complicated for her to follow.[43]
Alcohol Tolerance: Twilight's spy training has enabled him to develop a high level of tolerance to alcohol.[37] He can intake immense amounts of it without suffering from its notable effects. Because of this, Yuri's attempt to inebriate Loid with the wine he purchased in order to have him expose any secret he is confining has completely backfired as Yuri ended up getting intoxicated instead.
Loid scares Franky with his death glare Loid displays his death glare Intimidation: Loid is capable of instilling great fear into his targets. During his final shot against the Campbells in their tennis match, he intimidates Carrol Campbell with his aura as he slams the ball under him.[21] He is also able to inculcate fear into people with threats and the information he has on them. This was demonstrated when he held Edgar at gunpoint from behind and browbeaten him with the life of his daughter.[12] Once he was also able to intimidate Franky with just one glare.[44]
Episode 27-4 Loid masks himself before preparing to infiltrate Born Industries Weapons and Equipment: Twilight's main weapon is a pistol that shares several physical similarities with a Luger and comes with a silencer attachment, which he wields with great precision and proficiency. He also holds a miniature telescope, which he uses for long-distance surveillance while keeping himself out of view. When he is on missions, Twilight is normally carrying a suitcase or traveling luggage bag that holds most of his spy equipment. Among those tools is a radio transmitter, which he uses to communicate with WISE headquarters[38] and, as seen with Anya after she ransacked his belongings, even enemy contacts.[12] Twilight also utilizes a small microphone to bug people and areas with and a listening device to hear conversations.[45] He even employs explosives, which he uses to blow up the illegal arms dealers in one of his side missions.[46] When necessary, Twilight can wear stab-proof protective fabric underneath his clothing to avoid sustaining an injury from such, like a military-trained dog.[39] However, several of Twilight's other gadgets remain anonymous and have yet to be seen.
Teaching: Loid is rather proficient in teaching as he was Fiona's former mentor. He trained her to become a formidable and capable secret agent for WISE.
Cooking: Twilight is a skilled cook, much to the happiness of the Forger family members. Having once gone undercover as a world-class chef, Loid can cook anything.[24] ADVERTISEMENT
Weaknesses
Overassessment: Loid's primary weakness is his tendency to overanalyze certain situations. Loid is very serious in his duty to maintain peace. Due to his training and life as a spy, Loid is often seen planning and being extremely cautious, suspecting anyone who could be a potential threat to his mission or cover, which results in him overthinking things that, in reality, are much simpler than he thinks. For example, when Loid realized Yuri was a member of the SSS, he suspected that Yor could also be involved and was aware of his identity as a spy. Despite his intuition and previous background investigation clearing her, Loid chose to follow her and spy on her conversations with a listening device he secretly put on her dress, even disguising himself as an SSS lieutenant to press answers from her. After confirming that Yor is unaware of his and Yuri's secrets, Loid quickly feels guilty for doubting her.
Loid admits he can't understand Anya Loid admits he cannot understand Anya Despite being an exceptionally intelligent spy, this scenario frequently occurs, particularly concerning Anya. Loid tends to overthink her actions, assuming they might be linked to potential traumas from her past. However, Anya's actions are often innocuous, driven solely by her personal motivations or by simply wanting to stop Loid from suspecting her true nature as a telepath. In some situations, Anya would either use Loid's concern to her advantage or try to alleviate it. Sometimes, due to misunderstandings, Loid also experiences certain difficulties in teaching Anya and helping her study.
Loid tired from the extra missions Loid being overwhelmed from completing all his extra missions Overwork: Likely due to his top-ranking status as Westalis's greatest spy, Loid is occasionally assigned to several kinds of missions with very little notice and time. Between multitasking on many different missions, on top of trying to maintain his long-term mission, Operation Strix, Loid has felt physically and mentally exhausted at certain points. Additionally, because of his strong sense of duty, Loid pushes himself to complete his tasks to the best of his ability. However, this sometimes causes him to lapse in judgment at times.

Anya Forger (アーニャ・フォージャー, Ānya Fōjā?) is one of the main characters of the SPY x FAMILY series. She is the adopted daughter of Loid and Yor Forger. She attends Eden Academy as a first-year student in Cecile Hall, Class 3.
Anya, formerly known as Test Subject "007" (被験体"007", Hikentai "007"?), is also a telepath whose abilities were created in an experiment conducted by an unknown organization.

1/2
Anya is a short young girl with fair skin and emerald green eyes. At the time of their first meeting, Loid describes her as appearing about four to five years old at the oldest.[10] Anya's eyes are large and oval-shaped, with prominent eyelashes. She has shoulder-length, light pink hair that curls inwards with a fringe that reaches just above her eyes and a small strand of ahoge at the top of her head. Anya is noticeably shorter than most of her peers, and many of the insults that Damian and his friends direct at her target her small size. However, in Damian's view, she gains a prettier appearance.
When Loid met Anya for the first time in the orphanage, she wore a simple black dress with a white ribbon at the front, along with white folded-down socks and black shoes. She usually wears this outfit when at home. Anya also wears two black hair ornaments with bright yellow embellishments resembling small horns on the sides of her head. Anya is rarely seen without her hair ornaments, even wearing them to sleep. The only other times where she is shown to not be wearing them were in her past[11] and at the end-of-class gala[12], in which her hair is tied into small buns in place of the ornaments.
At Eden Academy, Anya wears the standard uniform with white knee-high socks and black Mary Janes. She carries around a brown schoolbag with a sheep keychain attached. During physical education class, Anya ties her hair back with a red headband when wearing the school gym uniform, along with white socks and gym shoes[13].
When she was younger, her hair was slightly shorter and wore clothing that resembled scrubs.[11] ADVERTISEMENT
Personality
Loid and Anya go home together Anya admiring Loid for being a cool liar As a young child, Anya is very impressionable towards the people around her. For instance, reading Loid's mind and attempting to mimic him, and learning how to punch from Yor. Given her telepathic ability, which ostracized her from people and her many foster homes, Anya instantly took to "Twilight" for being a real spy. Since being adopted, she wanted to go wherever he was going in hopes of seeing the spy stuff she always sees on TV. However, shortly after being adopted by Loid, she learns of the harshness of espionage and does her best not to interfere with his spy work. Despite this, Anya enjoys spy cartoons, her favorite being Spy Wars, and is often seen watching it whenever she can. Anya also finds excitement in Loid and Yor's secret jobs and identities. Anya is quite clever, being able to spell long words by herself and helping Loid out as best she can, even nudging Loid and Yor together.
Anya is upset by Damian's words Anya's egocentrism in wanting to be recognized Anya's behavior portrays her as younger than the age she initially claimed to be, which is around 6 years old. In reality, Anya is about 5 years old, and she pretended to be 6 after reading Loid's mind and realizing he needed a 6-year-old child. Loid, being supernaturally astute, had initially estimated her age to be younger than six. Anya's demeanor reflects her young age, as she is gregarious, trusting, simple-minded, and easily distracted. She may not fully grasp the bigger picture or see the grand scheme of things, which is typical for children her age. Anya, like many young children, is self-centered and unaware of how her actions affect others. She opposes Nightfall as her "mother" due to the fear of becoming an honor student through harsh methods. She is impulsive, breaking rules for excitement, and easily changes plans for personal gains, such as treats or awards. This is not to say she is unintelligent or narcissistic, as it is common for young children to be unable to fully consider others' needs at such a young age.
Given her younger age, it is remarkable that Anya can keep up with an advanced curriculum designed for older children. While some may perceive her as intellectually lacking for a six-year-old, she is most likely a highly gifted, talented, and precocious young girl, showcasing impressive abilities for her age.
Anya imagines friendship through dogs Anya makes her plan to befriend Damian Anya is shown to understand complex certain situations and what solutions are necessary but not the more abstract parts of it. For example, she comes up with clever plans to befriend Damian, the second son of Loid's target, in order to help Loid's mission. She has attempted to help him with an art project and use her dog, Bond, as bait for an invitation to his house after reading his mind and learning he loves dogs. However, she failed to realize that her lack of art skills was not only not helping him but actually making him hate her more, or the fact that a kid who has repeatedly expressed his intense disdain for her would effortlessly become her best friend because they both have dogs.
Anya dreams of world peace Anya dreams of world peace One of Anya's most remarkable traits is that she does everything she can to help Loid in his mission to prevent a war and "achieve world peace," although in a childlike and innocent way. As such, she puts all her effort into getting close to Damian, to help Loid accomplish his mission. Anya is often seen creating "plans" that might help her get along with him.
Anya's primary flaw lies in her inability to see the bigger picture, often fixating only on immediate desires or goals. Despite her strong desire to assist Loid with his mission and excel academically, she consistently neglects her studies and fails to grasp how her impulsive actions may be perceived by others or their long-term consequences.
Anya fears her family will be break up Anya does not want to be rejected Anya's tendency to keep her telepathy hidden stems from both orders by the facility's doctors and her fear of social rejection and family disruption. This fear contributes to her inclination to act without considering the broader implications of her actions. One notable example of her shortsightedness is her failure to realize that revealing her ability to Loid would be of great help to him. Additionally, after learning about Loid's dangerous spy mission to prevent a world-threatening situation, Anya eagerly accepts the opportunity without fully understanding the potential risks and dangers involved.
Despite her flaws, Anya's intentions are often driven by a genuine desire to assist others, even if she lacks the ability to see the larger consequences of her choices. This is notably seen with her adopted parents, where she aided them in their respective occupations, unbeknownst to them or her acknowledgment of their true jobs.
Anya crying at the interview Anime Anya cries for her "real" mother Anya's upbringing in the unknown facility and getting returned from foster homes have left her with significant abandonment issues, driving her desperate desire for a loving family. This motivation leads her to assist Loid and Yor in maintaining their family bond. She is emotionally affected by the fear of being replaced or left behind, and the potential revelation of family secrets causes her distress. Also, the subject of her "real" mother is a sensitive and emotional topic for her, evoking tears when brought up.
Anya's aversion to studying arises from being compelled to focus on honing her special "gift" during her time there. She most notably has a problem of relying on reading other people's minds for answers rather than actually studying the material, which comes back to bite her when she reads the wrong answers. However, despite enduring difficulties in the facility, Anya remains relatively persistent, diligent, and optimistic.
Anya comforts George Anya's empathetic side Anya's ability to read minds has its advantages, enabling her to form deep connections with others, as demonstrated by her ability to calm a distressed cow and save a drowning child. But it also poses challenges, as she instinctively reacts to thoughts she telepathically picks up which often makes her seem eccentric and unhinged. Besides, Anya relies too much on her "gift" and can hardly function without it. Her lack of situational awareness and social skills also make matters worse, leading to erratic behavior and conflicts with her peers. Nonetheless, she displays a kind and empathetic side despite these struggles.
However, Anya is not above being a little cocky. She is quick to show off when she does something remarkable, like when she earned a Stella Star and wore it on her uniform so everyone could see it, and even requested to be called "Starlight Anya" for the day. That said, it is understandable due to her being a child. ADVERTISEMENT
Abilities and Skills
Episode 12-2 Anya reads Yor's dark thoughts Telepathy: Anya is capable of reading the minds of other people and animals, her ability depicted as small sparks around her head. However, her abilities have their limits. Anya finds it difficult to understand complicated minds, such as Loid's.[14] When she reads the minds of people with excessively strong emotions, like Yuri and Fiona, it causes a reaction similar to a heartburn.[15] She must also be within a certain distance of her target to read minds.[16]
Anya's involuntary use of her telepathic abilities made her a bit more aware of her surroundings. It enables her to see through Loid's disguises, hear somebody being in danger,[17] and notice Yor sneaking into her school to give her the P.E. uniform.[18] It even helps her pick up on the enemies of her parents being nearby.[16]
Above Average Intelligence: Considering that Anya is actually a five-year-old child, she is still able to pass the Eden Academy exams, albeit barely, even though it is one of the best elite schools in the country. This could indicate that, although it may not seem like it, Anya is actually quite intelligent for a child her age.
Loid holding Anya's Classical Language test Anya's grade in her Classical Language test Classical Language: Compared to her other subjects, Anya is mysteriously knowledgeable of classical language, which is considered advanced in today's society. Despite having barely learned the subject at school, as Loid notices she could have scored well on her test if she did not make so many spelling mistakes.[19]
After receiving tutoring from Sigmund Authen, Anya greatly improved on Classical Language and managed to get second place in the subject on her first final exam.
Resourcefulness: She is shown on numerous occasions to have a decent level of street smarts, saving both Loid and Yor from potential death using her resourcefulness and quick-thinking skills. From time to time, Anya has been able to trick Loid, despite his extremely observant skills and cautious attitude and use Yor's protective nature to her advantage. She is also capable enough to design a trap and make a makeshift bomb, albeit with the knowledge of an aspiring assassin.
Anya Punches Damian Anya punches Damian and sends him flying Basic Self-Defense: Anya has been taught by Yor some early basic self-defense. She is strong enough to send Damian flying several feet with a punch to the face.
Above Average Strength: Despite her size, Anya is capable of sending people who are slightly above her stature flying with a punch if angered. She was even capable of throwing one of Yor's stilettos onto the roof deck despite its height.[20] Special Moves
After getting kidnapped by thugs, Anya asks Yor to train her to be as strong as her so she can study hard and "not die" at school. Yor agrees and teaches Anya several special moves. Anya creates some of her own special moves as well.
Special Move Image Description Killer Punch (必殺 パンチ, Hissatsu Panchi?) Anya's Killer Punch One of the first moves taught to Anya by Yor during their training. The move is performed by striking a target with a quick and powerful punch. Anya used this move after Damian relentlessly bullied her.[21] Its power level is "300 Star Impact."[22] Star Catcher Arrow (星を掴むすたーきゃっち光の矢あろー, Sutā Kyatchi Arō?, lit. Seize the Star) Star Catch Arrow Animated This move was taught to Anya while training for her dodgeball game. Intended to be a knockout shot, this move requires putting one's whole body into the throw. Anya attempted to use this move at the climax of the dodgeball game, but failed when she instead threw the ball at the floor.[13] Rising Hope (希望を届けるらいじいんぐ光の矢ほーぷ, Raijingu Hōpu?, lit. Deliver My Aid) Rising Hope Anime This move is similar to Star Catcher Arrow in that it is also a throwing move. Anya used this move to throw Yor's stiletto from the passenger deck to the roof deck on Princess Lorelei.[20] The move is used again during the Red Circus busjacking when Anya throws the S.O.S. message out of the bus.[23] Friendship Crash (なかよしくらっしゅ, Nakayoshi Kurasshu?) Anya's Friendship Crash Anya learns this move after Becky tries to help her and Damian become closer by teaching her a romance trope. The move is performed by Anya charging at her target with some bread in her mouth, then crashing into them. Anya attempted to use this move on Damian, but failed when he dodged it.[24] Other special moves include: Shin Kick (すね きっく, Sune Kikku?)[22] Eye Poke (めつぶし, Metsubushi?)[22] ADVERTISEMENT
Weaknesses
Anya Eclipsing Anya's Eclipsing Eclipsing: In a phenomenon dubbed "Eclipsing" by the scientists at Anya's former laboratory,[25] Anya's telepathic abilities are temporarily disabled during the new moon.
General Skill: Anya is shown to be poor in a variety of skills, including studying, drawing, sports, and music. She often obtains single-digit scores for her tests and resorts to her telepathic abilities to get through classes and exams instead, refusing to study unless under Loid's strict supervision and during her "Eclipsing." Even when motivated to study during her midterm exams, she just barely passes. She tries to play a child-sized violin Loid buys her but causes the strings to snap with her bad playing.
Poor Grammatic: Anya has very poor grammatic skills. It is often that whenever she shows her personal notes to anyone, they cannot understand what she is writing, comparing it with a bunch of scrawls.
Poor Academics: Anya has low to sub-par abilities when it comes to academics, notably scoring very low in most of the tests she has taken at Eden Academy. She seems to have an over-reliance on her telepathy skills, especially when troubled, primarily using it to answer homework questions and sometimes cheat on tests. Her poor academics can be partially attributed to the advanced material she is studying, paired with her being younger than she claims to be.
Anya reads Loid's mind Anya tries to read Loid's mind Lack of Control Over Her Power: Anya is only able to control her telepathy at a small amount, which often leads Anya to unwillingly read every single thought of everyone around her.
Crowds: When Anya is exposed to huge crowds, she often tends to get dizzy or exhausted by uncontrollably reading most of the whole crowd's minds, resulting in her suffering from nosebleeds. This is especially emphasized when the crowd has aggressive[26] or generally fearful thoughts[27][28], as these are apparently the first thoughts that alert Anya's powers.
Lack of Athletic Ability: Befitting her age, Anya is extremely poor when it comes to physical exercises, getting winded easily, having poor coordination and low strength, being unable to throw a ball properly despite Yor's training, and her putting her full strength into it. This lack of ability has extended to various sports, including tennis, jump rope, swimming, and vaulting. Over time, her athletic ability has slightly improved, as Loid has reported to Sylvia that she can now jump over two vaulting boxes and jump rope five times in a row.[29] Her throwing ability appears to have also improved, as she was able to throw Yor's stiletto from one floor to another.[20]

Yor Forger (ヨル・フォージャー, Yoru Fōjā?), née Briar (ブライア, Buraia?) is one of the main characters of the SPY x FAMILY series. While she works as an ordinary office clerk at Berlint City Hall, she also leads a secret life as a Garden assassin under the code name "Thorn Princess" (〈いばら姫〉, ?).
Needing a cover to continue her job as an assassin, Yor enters a fake marriage with Loid Forger with the intention of fulfilling both of their respective goals and subsequently becomes the adoptive mother of his daughter, Anya.
Appearance
Yor is a very beautiful, graceful, and fairly tall woman in her late twenties, with a slender, curvaceous frame. She has long, straight, black hair reaching her mid-back with short bangs framing her forehead and upturned red eyes.
At home, Yor generally wears a semi-backless red off-shoulder sweater with black tights, a red skirt, and brown-heeled ankle boots. She wears a white headband and a pair of dangling gold earrings in the shape of small spikes. When going outside, Yor typically wears a long beige (sometimes looking like a pale pink) coat with black buttons over the chest. She splits her hair into two parts and crosses it over her head, securing it with a headband and forming two thick locks of hair that reach below her chest.[7]
At Berlint City Hall, Yor wears the standard work uniform. It consists of a long-sleeved white shirt with a sleeveless green vest over it, a knee-length green office skirt, and black heels.
As an assassin, Yor wears a form-fitting, halter-style black dress that shows off her shoulders and chest, with a rose choker and a red rose pattern on the inside of her skirt. The front of the skirt is mid-thigh length, while the back reaches below her knees. She also wears a pair of black thigh-high boots with a rose symbol at the bottom of their sole and black fingerless gloves. The headband Yor wears is gold-colored with a rose and two spikes on each side. Her weapons are of the same color as well. In this attire, Yor would occasionally wear red lipstick, and her hairstyle is similar to the one she wears as a civilian but in a more elaborate updo formed from braids wrapping around her head.
Yor's assassin dress was the only good dress she had before marrying Loid. When attending her co-worker Camilla's party, Yor wore the dress under a shawl, a white headband with a flower design and jewelry on its right side over her hair, and short black heels instead of the usual thigh-high boots. After marrying into the Forger family, she purchased more formal wear to better present herself for Eden Academy's admissions interview.[8] However, Yor still continues to wear her black dress as a cocktail attire, for example, on board Princess Lorelei.
As a child, Yor had shorter hair that reached just below chin-length, similar to the current hairstyle of her younger brother, Yuri.[9] As she grew up, she gradually grew out her hair to her current length. Personality
Yor is glad she married Loid Yor's kind nature Yor lacks social skills and initially comes across as a somewhat aloof individual, interacting minimally with her co-workers and being rather straightforward, described as robotic by Camilla. Similarly, Yor is remarkably collected and able to keep her composure during combat. She is incredibly polite, to the point of asking her assassination targets for "the honor of taking their lives." Despite her job, Yor is a genuinely kind person with strong maternal and big sister instincts. After becoming a family with Loid and Anya, Yor becomes more expressive and opens up to her co-workers, asking for help on being a better wife or cooking. On one occasion, after getting drunk with her co-workers, she is described in thought by several, including Camilla, as being "adorable" and "pure."
Yor is protective of her faux family, especially towards Anya, whom she has no trouble defending with extreme violence. By contrast, however, she appears not to be bothered in the slightest by the almost comically brutal acts of murder she commits on a regular basis. Although she seems to believe that all her targets deserve their fate, she tries to kill everyone quickly so as not to provide unnecessary torment. She has similarly little regard for her own life and noted at least once that if someone managed to kill her on a job, she would view it as entirely fair.
Due to spending most of her life as an assassin, Yor's ways of thinking are often highly deviant. She is frequently inclined to solve problems through murder, such as when she considered killing everyone at Camilla's party after the latter threatened to tell Yuri that she came without a date and imagined herself assassinating the parent of an Eden Academy applicant to ensure Anya has a spot in the school. She also briefly considered killing Fiona Frost when she believed her to be competition for her role as the family's mother and Loid's romantic affections. She is, however, well aware that these thoughts are not to be acted upon and is always seen chiding herself for having them afterward. She appears to have a deep aesthetic appreciation of bladed implements and was seen to be captivated at one point by a painting of a guillotine, and at another by a table knife.
Loid and Yor's imagination of dogs Because of her job, Yor imagined pet dogs as ferocious Somewhat counterintuitively, Yor can be extremely naive and gullible. Despite her professional competence, Yor has a startling lack of common sense and is rather clueless when it comes to nearly all situations outside her assassin work. For instance, she once asked if boogers made coffee taste better in response to Millie's suggestion that they put one in their superior's coffee and later believed Loid's explanation that the smugglers whom he attacked were his patients. Yor's first instinct with regard to solving everyday problems is seemingly to apply her assassin's skills and mindset to those problems. When that approach invariably fails, she is often left floundering, and this gives the impression of her being comically airheaded. For example, she once answered a question from Loid about Anya passing an exam by talking about causes of death, apparently confusing passing a school exam with passing away. At another point, Loid mentioned to Anya that dogs do not discern consonants well, and Yor somehow misinterpreted it as him saying that dogs do not discern between causes of death well. She then immediately proceeded to have a daydream about threatening Bond with various forms of death that he refused to choose between. What little common sense she does have disappears almost entirely under the influence of alcohol.
Anya thinks that Loid and Yor are flirting Yor becomes flustered at Anya's suggestion of flirting with Loid Her hyperfocus on her profession and lack of social skills have left her entirely clueless when it comes to romance. This is usually unimportant as romantic interactions between her and Loid are effectively non-existent; neither seems to have any genuine romantic inclinations towards the other. However, in the few instances where any sort of romantic intimacy between the two is even hinted at, Yor becomes extremely flustered and embarrassed. In one instance, when it seemed that she and Loid would have to kiss in front of Yuri to confirm that they were a genuinely loving couple, Yor had to down an entire bottle of wine to disinhibit herself enough to even attempt it. However, the wine only exacerbated her feelings of embarrassment, and she ended up semi-accidentally slapping Yuri across her living room twice in the span of as many minutes.
Yor kicks Loid Yor kicks Loid in an inebriated and embarrassed state On that note, Yor being drunk in situations in which she thinks that anything romantic is likely to occur never ends well. On one occasion, when Loid flirted with her in an attempt to deepen his cover, she became so flustered that she kicked him clear across a restaurant. During another such occasion, she incorrectly believed that she and Loid would share a welcome-home kiss after her co-workers suggested it during a dinner together. Extremely embarrassed at the thought of being kissed, her first instinct was to attack him, but she dimly remembered the aforementioned situation in which she previously injured him. Not wanting a repeat incident, she opted instead to fling herself violently to the floor while profusely apologizing to Loid for "being weird."
Yor imagines fighting Loid Yor imagines herself fighting Loid to preserve her identity As was previously alluded to, Yor is prone to having nonsensical flights of fancy, a tendency that appears to be significantly exacerbated when she is intoxicated. For instance, once after becoming drunk at a dinner with some of her female co-workers, they joked to her that wanting to kill one's husband over essentially nothing was normal. So, in an effort to appear normal, she picked up a table knife and strode to the restaurant door, all while having a daydream about asking the Shopkeeper for permission to kill Loid "for the sake of preserving her marriage." She then imagined herself facing off against Loid and telling him: "As a normal person, I need to murder you so that nobody discovers I'm really a killer," then proceeded to enter a bloody fight with him.
However, she snapped back to reality after being stopped at the door by a waiter who told her that leaving with the cutlery was not allowed, at which point she rushed back to the table and tearfully proclaimed that she could not go through with it because killing was wrong. Her rather bemused friends ultimately believed that she had been simply going along with their joke, leaving Yor even more distressed about not seeming normal than before. During that same instance, she also strongly considered revealing that she was an assassin because she drunkenly thought, due to her co-workers' joking, that people normally turned into killers after marriage and that she was only unusual in that she had been a killer beforehand.
Yor is learning to cook Yor learning to cook to improve her domestic abilities Yor is shown to be insecure about herself and her domestic abilities, believing she is not good at anything apart from killing or cleaning, and she constantly worries that she is not a good wife or mother as a result. These insecurities are exacerbated by the fact that Loid is so diligent and skilled that he takes care of all their household tasks almost incidentally. By the time Yor has even thought of some particular task that might need doing, odds are that Loid has already taken care of it and then some. This often leaves Yor feeling as though she contributes very little to their family arrangement. Due to being painfully aware that Loid's general life skills are vastly superior to her own, she feels as though asking to take on more household tasks would be both silly and counterproductive, leading her to simply try to pitch in where she can. As Anya once rather aptly described her: "She's strong but fails at everything else."[10]
However, her insecurities regarding Anya at least have largely been put to rest by Loid. During an evening out, he affirmed to her that her parenting skills, honed over many years of caring for her brother, were far more important to him than her domestic skills or lack thereof. Loid further noted how much he valued her ability to make Anya feel safe and her dedication to keeping Anya out of trouble. As such, he requested that she continue in her current role indefinitely, a proposal to which she happily acquiesced. In spite of her domestic ineptitude, she is determined to learn how to care for a household due to her desire to share Loid's exceedingly heavy workload and to be a better mother to Anya. Abilities and Skills
Yor defeats Steel-Gut Gullickson Yor displays her powerful strength Immense Strength and Stamina: Despite her slim frame, Yor possesses monstrously superhuman physical abilities. Her punches[11] and kicks are strong enough to generate mild but noticeable air currents. She is capable of easily piercing human skulls with her weapons and of throwing them hard enough to break through a wooden door and impale someone on the other side. A thrust from one of her hands was once seen to destroy a pumpkin and shatter the knife of an assassin after countering his attack. She possesses a grip strong enough to help her climb up sheer walls[12] and break a proportion of a swordman's blade.[1] She is also able to knock out a fellow assassin by throwing a mere button at his neck.[13] While attempting a strength-tester game, Yor destroyed the machine with a one-handed swing.[14] Even Yor's dodgeball throws were able to fall trees.[11]
Yor also has enough leg strength to jump an entire floor while carrying a woman and her child. Her kicks can move speeding cars, throw grown men into ceilings, push a metal crate near her size across the floor, and serve as her preferred method of close combat to devastating effect. They were powerful enough to knock out Loid when she reflexively kicked him in the chin, something that had not happened to him since his spy training days.
Yor holds a diced tennis ball Yor mourns a tennis ball she accidentally diced with a swing from her tennis racket Yor has difficulty controlling this strength, however, especially when pretending to appear as a normal civilian. While taking cooking lessons from Camilla, Yor accidentally sliced up the cutting board she was chopping vegetables on.[15] During a tennis match against Fiona, she accidentally diced a tennis ball after swinging her racket too hard. While she held back her strength on her next serve, it was still so powerful that Frost, a WISE agent with considerable strength, could barely hold back the ball until her racket snapped, after which the ball struck a tree and left an impact. Frost claimed the ball would have been sent flying a mile away if she had not tried to hit it.[16] While playing volleyball, Yor had to hold back her strength to try playing on even grounds with everyone, to varied success.[17] Two accidental slaps from a drunk Yor were enough to cause Yuri to bleed excessively to the point that some passersby were concerned and recommended that he should go to the hospital. By her admission, she had accidentally broken two of Yuri's ribs from a hug when she was in her teens.
It should be noted, however, that it is difficult to determine the exact parameters of Yor's strength, as oftentimes, her feats are played for laughs and include physics-defying aspects. Additionally, other characters sometimes perform superhuman feats of strength or speed without the sort of consistency that Yor demonstrates, generally in a comedic manner. In more dramatic situations, her capabilities tend to be reigned in to a significant degree. However, the levels of strength that she demonstrates in serious scenes are still undeniably superhuman.
Immense Speed and Agility: Yor is imperceptibly fast and agile. Despite moving in heels, she can jump and land from tall heights, effortlessly knocking out a raging cow, and move fast enough to intercept and kill another assassin who was fast enough to evade Matthew McMahon's bullets. She has also performed several parkour maneuvers while traveling to Eden Academy,[12]
Shopkeeper tests Yor's instincts Yor dodges a surprise attack from the Shopkeeper She also has remarkably quick reflexes, being able to intercept a falling tray of hot food with just a motion of her leg, catch a falling flowerpot with one of her legs before tossing it back to its window with a gymnastic stunt[12], and dodge rifle fire. Perhaps most emblematic of this was an instance where she dodged a pair of garden shears thrust at her head by another highly trained assassin and her mentor, the Shopkeeper, despite having been distracted beforehand. She was also able to dodge Sickle-and-Chain Barnaby's blade, being only able to detect his bloodlust at the last minute. Yor's level of coordination is also impressive, capable of forming a sitting position without actually resting on the chair (due to the injury she sustained in her glutes) and catching multiple falling packages with her hands and feet and the previously mentioned tray of hot food, only spilling a few drops.
Yor is fast enough on foot to outrun a car, as she ran past Melinda Desmond's car on the way to pick up Anya after the bus hijacking. How fast the car was going is, however, unknown, and she has been outrun by Bond on at least one occasion.
Immense Durability and Endurance: Yor can withstand a gunshot wound to her glutes and move well enough to arrive home after treating it, though this feat caused her considerable pain and left her in a bad mood. During her mission to protect Olka Gretcher and her son on Princess Lorelei, she was able to kill over 22 assassins nonstop, coming away with only a jammed finger, a chest wound, and some swelling on her face. While rushing Becky Blackbell to the hospital after falsely assuming she was intoxicated, Yor was struck in the side by a car. Despite being sent rolling, Yor got up, caught Becky, and continued running with little issue, save for minor bleeding on her face.
Yor attacks Loid Yor barraging Loid with attacks Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Befitting her position as an assassin, Yor is highly trained in hand-to-hand combat, typically relying primarily on kicks when not using her trademark stilettos. Her skills are so great that she was able to keep Twilight, WISE's top spy and one of its most skilled combatants, on the defensive, despite Yor being heavily intoxicated at the time. It should be noted, however, that Loid was not trying to fight back and stayed defensive so as not to harm her. Similarly, she has shown the ability to effortlessly dispatch both untrained thugs and even fellow assassins purely with her bare hands.
Cleaning: Having to clean up the aftermath of her assassinations left Yor with near-unrivaled cleaning skills, which she uses to keep the Forger home spotless.
Yor stops the cow Yor stops a rampaging cow with her knowledge of pressure points Intuition: Despite being rather airheaded in her day-to-day thought processes, Yor is quite competent when it comes to performing genuinely serious tasks. This competence is at its peak when it comes to her job as an assassin. For instance, she appears to have extensive knowledge of pressure points and was able at one point to use this knowledge to incapacitate a rampaging cow. She has similarly extensive knowledge regarding general human anatomy, though the knowledge seems to be focused on how that anatomy might be used to most effectively kill someone. She displayed a sharp intuition at the Eden Academy interview, sensing the gazes of the faculty members but being unable to locate them. Yor can even sense the bloodlust of her enemies unless they are skilled assassins like herself. She is also perfectly capable of performing all the duties required by her job at city hall.
Yor also possesses adequate medical knowledge to treat a gunshot wound, which healed without complications. She also has shown to be proficient with bladed or pointed apparatuses, as she was easily able to create a paper doll chain with a pair of scissors, though she ended up cutting them too much.[18]
Yor revitalized Yor relieved from her wound after drinking poison Poison Tolerance: Yor is highly resistant to any toxins, likely due to being often exposed to it as a part of her assassin job. She drank a cocktail laced with the body fluids of a pufferfish, a family of fish that contains a neurotoxin that is lethal in micrograms. Her only symptoms after ingesting the cocktail were a tingling sensation and an inhibited sense of pain which helped relieve her gunshot wound.[19] During the fight with the assassin army on the cruise ship, she withstood inhaling a poison gas capable of taking down a bear.[20]
Intimidation: Though unintentional in some cases, Yor has struck great fear into people on numerous occasions, even upon animals such as cats[21] and trained dogs[22], usually with frightening faces. She was also able to intimidate a fellow assassin, Sickle-and-Chain Barnaby, making him freeze out of fear at the near conclusion of his fight against the Thorn Princess.[23]
Episode 33-1 Yor armed with her stilettos Weapons: When in combat, Yor uses at least three needle-like weapons akin to stilettos.[24] She wields two of them in hand with the third one being hidden in her dress.[25] They are golden and have a handle with a thin, circular loop at the butt and a long, conical point designed for stabbing and thrusting. She has yet to be seen using them outside of her assassin work. Yor uses them to stab into an opponent's head or arteries, though she has demonstrated the ability to throw them with great speed and force. These weapons are a reference to the thorns of a wild rose.[26] If needed, she can use her earrings as a projectile.[27]
Teaching: Yor has shown to have decent teaching skills, specifically when it comes to physical training. She has taught Anya and Becky how to punch to become strong. She also taught Anya how to prepare to play dodgeball, explaining to her how to perform a "secret ball throwing technique." Weaknesses
Loid watches Yor drink bottle of wine Yor drinks an entire bottle of wine in an attempt to calm herself down Alcohol Intolerance: In line with her significant resistance to poisons, Yor is capable of drinking alcohol in quantities that would incapacitate or kill a normal human. On one occasion, she downed a martini and an entire bottle of scotch back-to-back in a matter of seconds and remained physically unaffected. However, she has no such resistance to becoming intoxicated and is comically lightweight. For instance, she once became completely drunk off of a single round of beer with her co-workers. She also has a tendency to use alcohol to try to calm her nerves in situations where she feels overwhelmed, and it backfires far more often than not. Instead of relaxing Yor, intoxication seems to make her rather temperamental and aggressive, as while drunk, she has attacked Loid on at least two occasions and once threw a fork at Yuri so hard that, when it missed him, it embedded itself in the wall behind him.
It also seems to significantly amplify Yor's insecurities and her generally silly perspective on life. Once after getting drunk with her co-workers, for example, she was convinced by them that having no gripes about Loid as a husband was abnormal. So in an effort to appear normal, Yor attempted to invent gripes to tell both her friends and Loid himself. This left Loid completely flummoxed, as her gripe was essentially that she had nothing to gripe about, but she was too intoxicated to articulate that to him. After sobering up (while tailing Loid to the hospital on Yuri's completely unfounded suspicion that he was having an affair), Yor immediately realized how ridiculous the whole situation was and managed to explain herself to Loid later that evening.
Cooking: Due to only considering the nutrients involved and not the taste of her meals, Yor is consistently bad at cooking and usually leaves the task to Loid. When she does attempt to cook dinner, she is unaware of what ingredients to buy and opts to get one of everything instead (including random objects such as cacti), thinking that she can make something as long as there is meat and vegetables. Her attempts at cooking breakfast for the family resulted in meals consisting of messily chopped fish parts and other borderline-inedible concoctions, prompting Anya to call her a terrible cook. Even the prospect of Yor cooking or tasting her cooking is terrifying to anyone familiar with her.
Loid and Anya collapse from Yor's food Loid and Anya collapsing from eating Yor's cooking Yor's dishes cause virtually any taster, even Loid, to collapse (in one case, sending Loid to the toilet for an entire day). The only individual shown to be able to withstand Yor's cooking is her brother, Yuri, but he violently throws up between bites and even recalls seeing his life flash before his eyes. Despite this, Yuri grew up with no significant health issues. Even Bond once imagined himself dying as a result of Yor's cooking, and once collapsed after tasting a small portion of a meal she had made. The only dish Yor successfully cooked was her late mother's southern stew after Camilla gave her several cooking lessons and helped her recreate it.
Yor's cut hands Yor often injures her hands while cooking Her skills with bladed weapons are completely inapplicable in cooking, as while using a knife, she sliced meat razor-thin and destroyed a cutting board. On the same occasion, Yor also badly injured herself using a potato peeler, prompting an exasperated Camilla to ask how such a thing was even possible. Despite all this, Yor has a strong desire to improve at cooking, regularly having Camilla teach her despite her frequent injuries, and is elated on the few occasions she manages to make something edible. While she still continues to inadvertently injure herself while cooking, her skills have begun to show improvement, although, according to Anya, only "like a teeny, tiny bit." Yor is also shown to make comically large messes when she cooks, the detritus of which can include tools that should be completely unrelated to cooking, such as a saw or a mallet.
On a somewhat similar note, she seems to have difficulty with other domestic tasks that do not involve cleaning. For instance, Yor at one point thought to do Loid a favor by ironing one of his shirts and succeeded only in setting it on fire.[28]
Yor's explanation Yor explaining to Yuri that she forgot to tell him about her marriage Lying: Despite being quite practiced at lying due to her profession, Yor is comically bad at it. Though she often has to invent excuses to explain away things like her bizarre levels of strength, she tends to be believed through a combination of sheer luck and people being aware of her generally scatterbrained personality. For instance, when introducing Yuri to Loid, Yuri asked her why she neglected to tell him that not only had she gotten married, but that she had supposedly been married for an entire year. Loid had privately suggested to Yor that she simply tell Yuri the truth about their marriage of convenience, but Yor convinced him that she had a better idea. However, instead of suggesting something generally plausible, Yor simply told Yuri that she had forgotten to tell him. When pressed further, she elaborated that not only had she forgotten, but she then forgot that she had forgotten. While it mildly exasperated Yuri and flabbergasted Loid to a degree, Yuri did not question her answer as such a thing was completely in character for her.
Yor's unintentional displays of physical prowess around Loid and Anya have prompted a number of ridiculous excuses on her part. In one instance she claimed to have learned about pressure points capable of paralyzing a rampaging cow through a yoga class, and in another, she attempted to explain away her strength as a consequence of having once apprenticed as a blacksmith. Loid, likely due to his own exceedingly abnormal perspective, apparently has yet to take issue with any of these explanations, while Anya is of course aware of the truth due to her powers.
Yor studying with Yuri A young Yor studying with Yuri Lack of Intellect: Because Yor has been working as an assassin since she was a child, she appears to have not learned much from school to the point that Yuri would be teaching her more than she did when they studied. Despite this, Yor has enough basic literacy, typing, and organization skills to maintain a job as a clerk at city hall. She is also completely functional as an adult in the society in which she lives, and she successfully cared for her brother, alone, from the time he was a small child into adulthood. However, she once revealed that she had no idea what the term "First Lady" meant, and once when trying to solve a math problem on Anya's homework, she became distracted by imagining a gingerbread man being dismembered and failed to do so.
Yor fears she will be replaced Yor imagines getting replaced by Fiona Insecurities: Yor's biggest weakness is her low self-esteem. Because of this, she is very insecure about herself and is often seen believing Loid is disappointed with her and feels unfit to be a wife and a mother. This makes her prone to imagining situations that are far from reality and misinterpret things, such as thinking that Loid was having an affair with Fiona, his co-worker, and would get replaced by her.[29] Much later, Yuri suggested to her that Loid was having an affair after he suddenly rushed off to deal with an emergency. Despite not believing that to be the case, the mere possibility was upsetting enough to distract her for the remainder of the day.[30]
Perhaps her single greatest insecurity, however, is her feelings of general abnormality. She seems to have absolutely no idea what "normal" people do or why, which leads her to have significantly overblown concerns about not sticking out. It also often results in her catastrophizing entirely benign situations. For instance, she once parkoured all the way to Anya's school to deliver her P.E. uniform, as she thought that if Anya did not have it, she would be expelled. Not only was that not the case, but Anya had deliberately left the uniform at home as she did not have P.E. that day.[12]
Both Loid and Anya have helped Yor to begin working past her insecurities as they affirm her as part of their family, with Anya saying that she likes the way Yor already is, while Loid has praised her abilities as a mother on multiple occasions and told Yor that he does not intend to replace her with Fiona.
