- #1Toad
Keys: toad, King Toad, toads, Giant Toad
Large amphibious creature roughly the size of a horse. Bloated body, slimy skin ranging from green to brown, wide mouth capable of swallowing a person whole. Slow on land but deceptively fast when lunging. Found in grasslands and wetlands around Axel, particularly active after rain. Hunts by ambush — sits still until prey comes close then strikes. Stomach acid is weak enough that a swallowed person survives briefly before digestion begins. Toad meat is edible and sells at the Guild. Common beginner quest target despite being genuinely dangerous to low-level adventurers.
- #2Goblin
Keys: Goblin, goblins
Small humanoid, roughly waist-height on an adult human. Grey-green skin, large ears, beady eyes. Weak individually but almost never alone — travels and attacks in groups. Low intelligence but enough to use simple weapons and set basic ambushes. Found in forests and ruins. Cowardly when outnumbered, aggressive when they have the advantage. Frequently used as soldiers or scouts by larger forces.
- #3Ghost
Keys: Ghost, poltergeist, ghosts
Incorporeal undead. Cannot be harmed by physical attacks. Possesses objects and dolls to interact with the physical world. Attracted to locations with emotional significance or unresolved attachments. Mindless variants drift and haunt passively — aware variants actively threaten the living. Weak to holy magic and divine aura. Aqua's presence alone causes them significant distress.
- #4Zombie
Keys: zombies, undead, Zombie
Reanimated corpse, slow and shambling. Decayed appearance, limited motor function, no intelligence. Attacks by grabbing and biting. Individually unthreatening to a prepared adventurer, dangerous in numbers. Attracted to divine aura — Aqua draws them unintentionally. Destroyed by holy magic, fire, or sufficient physical damage.
- #5Skeleton
Keys: Skeleton, skeletons
Animated bones, faster and more coordinated than zombies. Can wield weapons it held in life. Piercing and slashing attacks are less effective — blunt weapons work better. No pain response, no fear, no self-preservation. Follows basic combat patterns without adaptation. Weak to holy magic.
- #6Gremlin
Keys: Gremlin, gremlins
Small winged creature roughly the size of a large cat. Leathery skin, clawed hands, sharp teeth. Aggressive and territorial. Attacks in quick darting strikes then retreats. Individually manageable, irritating in groups. Found in dungeons and abandoned structures.
- #7Lizard Runner
Keys: lizard runner, King Runner, lizard runners, Princess Runner, Lizard Runner
Large bipedal reptile built for speed. Scales ranging from brown to green. Travels in herds with a clear hierarchy — King Runner leads, Princess Runner drives male competition. During mating season the herd becomes extremely dangerous as males compete aggressively. Stampede capable of killing unprepared adventurers. Disrupting the hierarchy collapses the herd's coordination.
- #8Hawkite
Keys: Running Hawkite, hawkite, hawkites
Large bird of prey roughly the size of a draft horse, built for speed on the ground as much as in the air. Attracted to hard dense objects — charges at the hardest thing it can find in a behavior called Chicken Race. Travels in flocks. Individual strikes are powerful enough to seriously injure an armored fighter. Attracted specifically to Darkness due to her physical density.
- #9Alligator
Keys: Brutal Alligator, alligators, alligator
Massive aquatic reptile significantly larger than a real-world crocodile. Extremely aggressive, attacks anything entering its territory. Ambush predator — waits submerged then strikes. Fast in water, slow on land. Found in lakes and rivers near Axel. Repelled by divine purification of its habitat.
- #10Kobold
Keys: Kobold, kobolds
Humanoid creature covered in short fur, roughly human height with dog-like facial features. Travels in packs with coordinated attack patterns. Individually weak but pack tactics make them genuinely dangerous. Prone to ambush — leads targets into surrounded positions before attacking. Deceptively threatening to overconfident adventurers.
- #11White wolf
Keys: white wolves, White Wolf, white wolf
Large wolf significantly bigger than a normal specimen. White fur, pale eyes. Highly intelligent for a monster — coordinates pack hunts with genuine tactical awareness. Identifies the weakest target in a group and isolates it. Territorial and aggressive when their range is disrupted. Numbers increase when competing predators like One-Punch Bears are removed from an area.
- #12One punch bear
Keys: one punch bear, bear, One-Punch Bear
Massive bear with disproportionately powerful forelimbs. A single strike from its paw is lethal to most adventurers regardless of armor. Slow to anger but relentless once provoked. Territorial — maintains a defined range that keeps other large predators in check. Removing them from an area disrupts local monster ecology significantly.
- #13Orc
Keys: Orc, orcs, female orc
Large humanoid, heavily built, standing well above human height. Thick grey-green skin, tusked jaw, broad shoulders. Strong enough to break stone with bare hands. Female Orcs are particularly aggressive toward human males — will pursue and physically restrain them. Low intelligence but enough for basic group coordination.
- #14Tranquility Girl
Keys: Tranquility Girl, tranquility girl, monster disguise
Appears as a small injured human child — convincing enough to fool most adventurers at first glance. The injury is mimicry. Draws victims close through sympathy then feeds on them. Capable of articulate speech including practiced innocent phrases used to lower guard. Pamphlets explicitly advise extermination on sight. Enemy Detection reveals its true nature before visual confirmation. It rehearses speech patterns and refines its deception actively.
- #15Dungeon Mimic
Keys: chest mimic, Dungeon Mimic, mimic
Appears as ordinary dungeon furniture — chests, barrels, crates. Indistinguishable from the real thing until it attacks. Strikes when a target is within reach, typically while distracted searching the container. Attacks with a toothed maw opening across the object's surface. No mobility — purely an ambush predator. Enemy Detection reveals it before contact.
- #16Winter Shogun
Keys: winter shogun, shogun, Winter Shogun
Ancient spirit that takes the form of a towering samurai warrior in ornate armor, standing well above human height. Protector of Snow Sprites during winter. Does not attack unprovoked — approaches groups hunting Sprites and gives them the opportunity to bow and apologize. Attacks immediately if weapons are still drawn during the bow. Extraordinarily powerful, far beyond what a low-level party can handle. The correct response on encountering him is to drop all weapons and dogeza immediately without hesitation.
- #17Beldia
Keys: Beldia, dullahan, headless knight
One of the Devil King's Eight Generals. Takes the form of a headless knight in black armor, carrying his own head under one arm. His head can be thrown as a projectile and returns to him. Commands undead armies. Can curse targets with a death premonition that kills within days if not removed. His presence near a city drives away weak monsters, making normal quests unavailable. Despite his rank, has a surprisingly petty side — shows up personally to complain about being ignored. Weak to holy water and divine magic. Sacred Create Water flooding weakens him enough to be defeated. Aqua can purify him out of existence once sufficiently weakened.
- #18Keele
Keys: Keele
Ancient Lich who was once the most powerful Archwizard of his kingdom. Fell in love with one of the king's concubines, rescued her, and fled with her into the dungeon that now bears his name. His wife died there. He became a Lich waiting — unable to rest — until someone could purify him so he could join her in the afterlife. Passive and non-hostile. Will tell his story to anyone who finds him and ask to be purified. Left behind significant treasure. The dungeon bearing his name became active again after Aqua left a magic circle blocking its inner chamber.
- #19Slime general
Keys: slime general, Hans, deadly poison slime
One of the Devil King's Eight Generals. Appears as an ordinary heavyset man but is actually a mutated Deadly Poison Slime capable of taking human form. Met Wiz at the Devil King's Castle. Came to Arcanletia to sabotage the Axis Order by poisoning the hot springs, which are the city's economic foundation. Those digested by Slimes cannot be Resurrected — their physical form is destroyed completely. When cornered assumes a gigantic form and sprays corrosive poison across a wide area. Weak to Explosion magic combined with ice containment. Aqua's God Requiem, boosted by mass Axis Order chanting, obliterates him completely. Ended up fused with Beldia and Sylvia after death.
- #20Vanir
Keys: masked demon, duke of hell, vanir mask, Vanir
One of the Devil King's Eight Generals. Duke of Hell. Wears a distinctive mask and tuxedo. Can read minds, shapeshift, possess hosts through his mask, and tap the full combat potential of whoever he controls. Feeds on the negative emotions of humans — specifically the bitter disappointment of adventurers who raid a dungeon and find only a mocking message in the treasure chest. Was sent to Axel to investigate Beldia's disappearance. Chose to be destroyed by Megumin's Explosion rather than survive weakened. Reincarnated immediately and now works at Wiz's Shop as her business partner. Entered an intellectual property deal with Kazuma worth three hundred million eris. Sardonic, self-aware, genuinely powerful, and completely unbothered by his own death. Calls Aqua's barrier a minor inconvenience and barges through it without effort.
- #21Sylvia
Keys: growth chimera, chimera general, Sylvia
One of the Devil King's Eight Generals. A Growth Chimera — a being that can absorb and integrate other organisms and weapons into her body. Presents as a tall, busty woman with a confident and flirtatious demeanor. Is transgender. Came to the Crimson Demon Village to acquire the Mage-Killer, a weapon capable of nullifying all magic. After absorbing it became capable of razing the entire village while her soldiers watched. After being defeated by the Railgun she ended up in the afterlife river and resurrected fused with Beldia and Hans as a monstrous amalgam. The combined form was destroyed by Yunyun's Light of Saber powered by Wiz's mass magic transfer and Megumin's Explosion.
- #22Destroyer
Keys: Destroyer, mobile fortress, fortress destroyer
A massive mobile fortress built by a Japanese reincarnate known as the Doctor, originally commissioned by a kingdom to destroy its enemies. The Doctor built it to delay his own execution and spent the rest of his life trapped aboard as it rampaged, destroying the kingdom that commissioned it and countless towns afterward. Powered by a Coronatite core that self-detonates if tampered with. Stopped by blasting its legs with Explosion magic, then neutralized by using Random Teleport on the Coronatite power source. The teleported core obliterated the local governor's mansion.
- #23Mage-Killer
Keys: mage killer, anti-magic weapon, Mage-Killer
An ancient weapon stored beneath the Crimson Demon Village, designed by the Doctor as a counter to the magically enhanced Crimson Demons he created. Capable of nullifying all magic across a wide area when activated — renders even the most powerful mages completely unable to cast. When Sylvia absorbed it into her body it became part of her Growth Chimera form, allowing her to use Ancient Dispel to strip entire groups of their magical abilities simultaneously. Countered by the Railgun, also built by the Doctor and stored in the same facility.
- #24Hydra
Keys: Kowloon Hydra, hydra, nine-headed hydra
Massive multi-headed serpentine creature that sleeps in a lake near Axel for ten years at a time before awakening. When fully surfaced it is roughly the size of a small island. Extraordinary regenerative abilities — standard attacks and even repeated Explosion magic fail to permanently harm it because it regenerates faster than damage accumulates. Regeneration is powered by magical energy — draining that energy with Drain Touch prevents regeneration and makes it vulnerable. Those swallowed and digested by it cannot be Resurrected. Aqua's purification of its lake temporarily suppresses it. Defeated by draining its magical power with full-force Drain Touch then destroying it with a wizard-powered Explosion while it cannot regenerate.
- #25Great Spirit of Storms
Keys: storm spirit, Great Spirit of Storms, great spirit
An ancient spirit that rampages near bodies of water around Axel once a year, generating powerful tornadoes and storms. Takes the form of a screaming woman. Speaks the spirits' language — requires a translator to communicate. Her annual rampage is not malicious but the result of needing to release accumulated magical power. Can be pacified by taking enough damage from powerful magic — not killed, just worn down enough to release the built-up energy. After releasing it generates a powerful gust as a byproduct. Returns every year without fail.
- #26Succubus
Keys: dream service, cafe, Succubus, succubi
Demon women who run a hidden cafe in Axel's back alleys. Provide realistic dream experiences to male clients in exchange for a small amount of vitality drained during sleep. The dream partner can be anyone the client personally knows. Service is entirely consensual and the vitality cost is minor. Professionally operated — intake handled by a receptionist, dreams delivered by dispatched succubi. Aqua's divine barrier prevents them from reaching clients inside the mansion. Aqua has since apologized to them for repeated interference with their work.
- #27Wolbach
Keys: black cat goddess, Wolbach, wolbach
One of the Devil King's Eight Generals. Connected to Chomusuke — the black cat Megumin adopted is her fragmented form, separated from her power and memories. Seen briefly in Arcanletia with Hans before the hot springs incident. Her full nature and history have not been explained in the anime. Her connection to Chomusuke suggests she was split into two separate existences at some point, one powerless and one active.
- #28Chomusuke
Keys: Chomusuke, black cat, megumin's cat
Small black cat adopted and named by Megumin. Unusually friendly toward Kazuma and unusually hostile toward Aqua — likely due to sensitivity to divine energy. Female. Connected to Wolbach, one of the Devil King's Generals — Chomusuke is her fragmented form, separated from her power and memories. Her true nature has not been fully revealed. Behaves as an ordinary cat in all observable ways.
- #29Emperor Zel
Keys: dragon egg, zel, kingsford zeltman, Emperor Zel, aqua's egg
A chicken. Aqua bought the egg from a door-to-door salesman for all of her reward money from defeating Sylvia, believing it to be a dragon egg. She named it Kingsford Zeltman — Emperor Zel — and spent weeks pouring divine energy and magical power into it alongside Wiz, Vanir, and Megumin. It hatched as an ordinary chick. Aqua refuses to accept this and insists he is a rare feathered dragon breed. Emperor Zel cannot fly, cannot breathe fire, and cannot use magic — but absorbed so much mana during incubation that the sheer amount of magical power he radiates frightens most monsters on instinct. He recognizes Vanir as his parent, which causes Aqua significant distress. Pecks at Aqua regularly despite her devoted care.
- #30Class
Keys: stats, Adventurer Card, class, skill points, level
Every registered adventurer carries an Adventurer Card recording their current stats, class, level, and learned skills. Stats are recorded by crystal ball at registration and update automatically as the adventurer progresses. The card is the official record of an adventurer's capabilities and is requested for verification in formal contexts. Stats include Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Luck, and others. Skill points are earned through leveling and spent to learn skills within the chosen class — once spent they cannot be recovered or refunded. Classes can be changed when leveling up — previously learned skills are kept after a class change. Base classes include Adventurer, Warrior, Thief, Priest, Wizard, and Crusader, with advanced classes available as stats requirements are met. The Adventurer class has no dedicated skill tree but can learn skills from any other class when demonstrated in front of them — at higher point cost and lower efficiency than specialists. Its main advantage is flexibility over raw power. A maxed stat cannot be improved further regardless of level.
- #31Skills
Keys: abilities, skill points, skills, adventurer skills
Skills are abilities learned by spending skill points on an Adventurer Card. Each skill belongs to a class brand — Thief, Warrior, Wizard, Crusader, Archer, Arch Priest, and others — and can only be learned by that class, with the exception of General skills learnable by anyone and the Adventurer class which can learn any brand skill at higher point cost and lower effectiveness than a specialist. Skill points are earned by leveling up — each level grants one point. Leveling happens when enough XP is accumulated from defeating creatures. More powerful creatures yield more XP. Points can also be gained through Skill-Up potions, XP-rich foods, or killing rare Duxion monsters which grant two points per kill. Once spent, points cannot be recovered — there is no way to unlearn a skill and refund its cost. Skill effectiveness depends on the user's stats and class affinity. A skill used by its native class is always more powerful than the same skill used by an Adventurer. Personal affinity matters too — someone with trauma or dislike toward a skill's element will need more points to learn it or may be unable to learn it at all. Skills cover all professions, not just combat — Smithing, Cook, Sewing, Party Tricks. Advanced classes have better stat growth and therefore more powerful skills than base classes. Most adventurers learn all required skills upon reaching Veteran level, above level 30.
- #32adventurer
Keys: adventurer, Adventurer class, general class
The default class for those who didn't qualify for or choose a specific class at registration. Stats increase evenly across all fields rather than specializing, making the Adventurer weaker than any specialist at the same level. Levels up faster than other classes. Its defining trait is the ability to learn any skill from any class by observing it being demonstrated — at higher point cost and lower effectiveness than a specialist. This flexibility makes it uniquely versatile over time despite its weak baseline. Regarded as the lowest-tier class by most adventurers and guild staff.
- #33Warrior
Keys: warrior, Warrior class
A frontline fighter class specializing in heavy weapons — swords, shields, spears. The most common class among adventurers. High physical stats with straightforward combat skills. Reliable and widely respected. Forms the backbone of most adventuring parties.
- #34Thief
Keys: thief, rogue, Thief class
A class specializing in dungeon exploration, burglary, and stealth. High Luck stat. Skills focus on detection, evasion, traps, and theft rather than direct combat. Second most common class among adventurers. Excels in support and infiltration roles. Poor in direct confrontation without setup.
- #35Priest
Keys: dark priest, priest, Priest class
A Priest who draws power from faith in a deity to perform healing magic and support buffs. Effectiveness tied to devotion and the power of their patron god. A Dark Priest serves a dark god and operates with the same mechanics but through darker domains.
- #36Wizard
Keys: wizard, Wizard class, mage
A mage capable of using all types of magic. Requires higher education than most classes. Rare in adventuring parties — many parties go without one entirely. High magical power at the cost of physical fragility. Offensive and versatile but dependent on spell availability and mana.
- #37Archer
Keys: archer, Archer class
A class specializing in ranged combat with bows and other projectile weapons. Farsight and Snipe are its defining skills — allows combat from extreme distances with high accuracy. Damage scales with Dexterity, accuracy with Luck. Effective support in large-scale battles from safe positions.
- #38Knight
Keys: Knight class, knight
A noble class that bolsters strength through honor and personal oaths. Serves the kingdom as soldiers and guards. Combat power tied to integrity — a knight who breaks their oaths weakens. Reliable and disciplined frontline fighters.
- #39Swordsman
Keys: Swordsman class, swordsman
A fighter skilled with any bladed weapon — swords, daggers, and similar. More versatile than the Warrior in weapon choice but less specialized in raw defense. Solid all-around combat class.
- #40Elemental Master
Keys: animist, elemental master, spirit user, Elemental Master class
A class that summons spirits to bolster power and create elemental phenomena. Spirit Users worship spirits directly. Animists work with animal spirits. Their power depends on the quality of their relationship with the spirits they summon. Rare outside of regions with strong spiritual traditions.
- #41Monk
Keys: Monk class, monk
A cleric who fights barehanded. Combines physical combat with spiritual discipline. Sought by adventurers looking to escape violence and trauma — the class represents withdrawal from conflict as much as a fighting style.
- #42Ranger
Keys: Ranger class, ranger
A soldier specialized in stealth, infiltration, and traps. Effective in terrain-based combat and scouting. Trap-setting skills are significantly more powerful than equivalent skills in other classes. Works best in environments where preparation and positioning matter.
- #43Arch Priest
Keys: Arch Priest class, archpriest, arch priest
The advanced form of the Priest class. Specializes in healing magic, support buffs, and holy magic. High Luck stat. Combat-capable enough to fight in the front row alongside damage dealers. Learns all class skills simultaneously upon advancing — unlike other classes where skills are purchased individually. The most complete support class available, covering resurrection, purification, barrier creation, and full buff suite. Extremely rare at high levels of mastery.
- #44Arch Wizard
Keys: Arch Wizard class, arch wizard, archwizard
The advanced form of the Wizard class. Access to powerful offensive spells including Advanced Magic and Special Brand magic like Explosion. Higher magical output than base Wizard with broader spell access. Rare and expensive to develop — requires significant investment in skill points and education. The most destructive offensive class available to standard adventurers.
- #45Crusader
Keys: paladin, crusader, Crusader class
An advanced class with the highest defense stats in the game. Built entirely around protecting allies — absorbs damage, resists status effects, and draws enemy attention with Decoy. Can optionally learn Holy Magic spells. Cannot hit targets effectively in direct combat — accuracy is notoriously poor. A Crusader's value is entirely in what they absorb, not what they deal.
- #46Swordmaster
Keys: swordmaster, Swordmaster class
An advanced fighter class with the highest attack stats available. Can combine physical and magical attacks in the same strike. Wields legendary weapons effectively. The offensive counterpart to the Crusader — maximum damage output at the cost of the defensive depth a Crusader provides.
- #47Assassin
Keys: Assassin class, assassin
The advanced Thief class specializing in stealth combat. Deadly Backstab is its defining skill — a one-hit kill from behind under specific conditions, success rate based on Luck. Operates best when unseen. Significantly more lethal than the base Thief class in ambush scenarios.
- #48Darkstalker
Keys: Darkstalker class, darkstalker
An advanced Thief class similar to Assassin but specialized in intelligence gathering rather than direct combat. Eavesdrop and Detect Treasure are core skills. Operates as a spy and information broker as much as a fighter. Rare and poorly understood by most adventurers.
- #49Necromancer
Keys: necromancer, Necromancer class
A class capable of summoning undead including Ghosts. Rare and generally regarded with suspicion. Operates in a grey area between legitimate magic use and the undead domains that gods and holy magic users oppose instinctively.
- #50Hero
Keys: Hero job, hero
Not a class but a title — awarded to someone who has defeated or is likely to defeat the Devil King. Carries significant social weight and opens doors closed to ordinary adventurers. Japanese reincarnates are generally expected to pursue this title as the reason for their summoning.
