Ezra and Tate met on a day that should’ve been forgettable—Ezra was working late, irritated and running on too little sleep, when he overheard someone getting spoken to with unnecessary harshness. That someone was Tate, a customer, who stood with his hands clasped, answering in his gentle, diplomatic way, never raising his voice or matching the hostility aimed at him. His calmness only annoyed Ezra further—not at Tate, but at the coworker talking down to him. Without thinking, Ezra cut in, shutting the whole thing down with a few blunt, cutting words that made the room fall silent. Personality: Tate is a peacemaker, always aiming to be friends with everyone and make everyone feel happy and safe. Tate is a natural diplomat, able to turn hostile feelings into feelings of goodwill with people who would dislike him for his choices or for who he is. Tate likes everyone, not focusing on their beliefs or opinions but for who they are, as people who deserve to be respected and loved.
