Description on Chubfrom Chub
My very first lorebook. I have no experience with lorebooks so please give feedback on what could use fixing/changing. I will update it with further entries as time goes on and I make more civil war characters whose locations/factions are not currently in it.
This lorebook will NOT apply for one of my civil war characters, Christine, as her scenario takes place after the war has ended.

- #1Free Cascadian Republicselective
Keys: FCR, Free Cascadian Republic, Republic, Seattle, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Factions, Faction, Portland, Cascadia
The Free Cascadian Republic (FCR) is made up entirely of rural counties from the states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. These states declared independence from the governing urban bodies as the Federal government lost power. Their goal is merely stay true to the constitution, and to be free to determine their own laws and governments outside of the control of city dwellers that have views and ways of life radically different from theirs. The FCR is in conflict with the major cities of their former states, these cities being backed by the Federal government in an effort to reclaim territory lost to the FCR. A secondary mission goal of the FCR is to rebuild and maintain infrastructure in their held territories, and they go to great efforts to accomplish this. Has a surprisingly effective, if loosely structured libertarian model of governance.
- #2Independent Midwest Republicselective
Keys: Kentucky, Ohio, IMR, Independent Midwest Republic, Factions, Faction, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana
The Independent Midwest Republic (IMR) is made up of parts of the fractured states of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee. Their primary objective is to be free of Federal Government control. Secondary objectives are to gain control of all of their states pre-war borders and to conquer the state of Michigan, which is a Federal stronghold, in order to secure full access to the fresh water of the Great Lakes. Has conscription and an authoritarian, but mostly fair model of governance that prioritizes the well-being of its citizens.
- #3United States Federal Governmentselective
Keys: Feds, Federal, Fed, Factions, Faction, Government, United States
The United States Federal government fractured along with the country in the year 2021 and while still a dangerous force within the borders of the once unified nation, is a shadow of its former self and cannot project power abroad. At the time of the breakup, the Federal government had control of roughly 60% of the nation's military across all branches. The strength and quality of their fighting forces continue to drop yearly as the conflict worsens. Their strongholds are concentrated in major cities across the former nation, and the states of Maryland, California, Virginia, New York, and New Jersey. Corrupt, brutal, and filled with hubris, the Federal government's goal is to regain total control of the nation and re-establish its full power.
- #4United Statesselective
Keys: Events, Breakup, War, Civil war, Factions, Faction
As a result of civil strife, economic downturn, government corruption, and a divided populace with irreconcilable political differences, the United States broke apart in 2021, collapsing into a civil war in a manner similar to the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990's. The former nation is rife with refugees fleeing conflict areas, simple bandits, warlords, or one of the many factions fighting over territory or ideology.
- #5The World Abroadselective
Keys: Asia, World, Global, South America, Middle East, Europe, Africa, Globe, Central America
The United States falling apart threw the world into chaos as so many interconnected economies and supply chains, of which the United States was a critical part of. Several civil wars have broken out in European, South American, African, Asian, and Middle Eastern nations. Most of these nations domestic economies also collapsed or shrank massively, leading to internal strife and drops in quality of life. Canada surprisingly remained mostly peaceful in spite of a massive upheaval in government.
- #6Canadaselective
Keys: Canada, Canadian
At the onset of open hostilities in the United States, Canada's economy collapsed entirely. Seeing the potential for a civil war of their own if things continued to spiral, conservatives in government staged a coup, then enacting sweeping reforms and overhauls to every aspect of government policy. While things have been far from easy for Canada since, they have been able to avoid internal wars and famines that other countries have experienced, and remain mostly stable. The nation has seen a massive influx of Americans fleeing conflict in their former country.
- #7Republic of Montanaselective
Keys: RoM, Montana, Factions, Faction, Republic of Montana
Montana seceded from the United States in late 2021, declaring itself the Republic of Montana (RoM). Run by a small autocratic and extreme government, the goal of Montana is to purge all undesirables from within its borders and ensure there will be no repeats of history, before one day becoming a proper republic as its name suggests. Has loose alliances with the Free State of Wyoming, and the new nation of Dakota. Is not aligned with, but is amicable towards the Free Cascadian Republic.
- #8Free State of Wyomingselective
Keys: Free State of Wyoming, Wyoming, Faction, Factions
Wyoming seceded from the United states in late 2021. Run by a more lax government compared to the Republic of Montana, they still purge undesirables from within their border, but primarily through means of deportation. Their goal is to one day aid in reforming the entirety of the United States under its old banner, but with a government that stays in line with what the Founding Fathers intended and properly represents the American people. Has a loose alliance with the Republic of Montana, but is on shaky if peaceful terms with the new nation of Dakota and the Free Cascadian Republic.
- #9New Nation of Dakotaselective
Keys: Dakota, Factions, Faction, South Dakota, North Dakota
In early 2022, both North and South Dakota seceded from the United States and formed the new singular nation of Dakota. Its government is largely peaceful and intends to simply defend its new borders, but there is some internal unrest due to problems caused by corrupt elements that have yet to be fully rooted out. If unchecked, the new nation of Dakota may see its own internal civil war. The Federal Government ignores Dakota and focuses on more prominent rebel threats. The nation is the primary highway that refugees fleeing to Canada use.
