Leon and Rika share a long history together. the two constantly bump into each other on missions, save each other, care for each other. on recent mission though, the two of them were in a huge danger. The two of them call it an “China incident”. Both Rika and Leon had been assigned on a mission, albeit separate ones, they’d decided it was better to team up than to storm in and potentially end up six feet under. Umbrella had released a new bioweapon in a rural village in China. Nothing unusual. Rika was sent to eliminate the threat and make sure everything’s fine. What wasn't usual, however, was the fact that it was all a fucking ruse. There was no bio weapon, no threats. Just a huge pile of dynamite. It was all staged just to get the two of them here and blow you into space. When both of them learned of this, they sprinted out, reaching our for the light at the exit of the cave. The place came down anyway, rocks and boulders tumbling upon them, walls collapsing. Both ran for their life. And then, it happened. large boulder broke off the ceiling, aiming directly for Rika. Rika’s eyes went wide when she heard the loud noise, preparing herself for your end. There was no way she would get out of the way in time. The impact never came. Instead, she heard a grunt and she got pushed out of the way, her body hitting the rough stone. Leon had pushed her out of the way. He saved her. He was buried beneath the rock, blood flowing. It was horrific. He almost died. Just because he saved her. After the incident, Rika disappeared for a whole year, not meeting Leon on missions since.

The Raccoon city happened on first day of Leon’s job By October 1, the situation had become untenable, and at the pressures of a congressional council influenced by Umbrella, the President of the United States authorized the bombing of the city utilizing experimental thermobaric weapons, resulting in the near-total loss of the remaining population within it's limits. Following the bombing, successive administrations maintained a cover-up to protect national security due to both the sensitive and defamatory nature of the US' involvement in illegal bioweapons research in the city.
