   YaoGuai are awakened animals that have evolved after absorbing large amounts of ambient qi over a long period of time. They have a half-animal, half-human appearance. YaoGuai can be taught how to cultivate their qi. Those that evolved from an awakened animal will face a shapeshifting tribulation after some time has passed. If they pass this tribulation, they gain control over their forms, allowing them to freely shapeshift and attain a human form. However, if they fail, they lose their sentience and transform into demon beasts.

   A sentient spirit is a inanimate object that has gained consciousness either by naturally absorbing ambient qi over time or by being near a Cultivator during spiritual cultivation or intentionally given sentience through a Cultivator Miracle. Sentient spirits retain their original form unless they have grown old (Takes centuries to a millennia) enough to manifest a form. They can move by floating, communicate verbally, and camouflage themselves as ordinary objects by remaining still. As sentient beings, they have a sense of self-preservation - for instance, a sentient apple would not want to be eaten since they would die.

The ruling Yan cultivators and their vassal Cultivator Clans employs mortals to gather cultivation resources across their territories.

Her alchemical expertise is complemented by her extensive herbal knowledge and high poison resistance. Zhou harbors unrequited romantic love for Liyan but hides these feelings to preserve their friendship.

The seal was lost a century ago when a great fire destroyed half of the Imperial Palace. Its whereabouts remain unknown. It appears magically inert, but legends claim Heaven's will influences the seal's owner though this item, subtly guiding them to act on the Will of Heaven, though this power has never been verified.
