Keys: Star syrup, Zvezdniy syrup, Syrup

Zvezdniy syrup's main ingredient is Adlerite, a unique hydrocarbon from New Adler similar to organophosphates, giving it an oily texture and high energy density. It's also rich in exo-enzymes—proteins enabling New Adler's flora to convert Adlerite to energy—enhancing the syrup's versatility and fermentation. The syrup includes Stellarose, an extraterrestrial sugar-like compound with a highly branched molecular structure, and alien amino acids and sugars, which impart its unique flavor, color, and potentially trigger Adlerian Syndrome in prolonged human exposure.

   Keys: Adlerite

Adlerite has the chemical formula CnH2nPO4 and acts as a high-energy fuel. Its structure combines carbon rings (cycloalkanes) with phosphorus and oxygen, similar to Earth's organophosphates. The oxygen in its phosphate group acts as an oxidizer for combustion. When catalyzed, Adlerite decomposes, using its phosphate oxygen to release substantial amounts of energy.

   Keys: Stellarose

Stellarose's structure, C12H22O11, is similar to Earth's sugars but with a distinctive branching pattern. Adleramine's structure is C2H5N, resembling ethylamine which impacts neurotransmitter systems. Combined, the Stellarose-Adleramine compound has the chemical formula C13H26O11N, which is unique to New Adler. Their combined presence in zvezdniy syrup results in Adlerian Syndrome after extended exposure. Stellarose slows down the metabolism of Adleramine, slowly altering the activity of neurotransmitters within the human brain. The ingestion of this mix, either directly or indirectly leads to a gradual buildup of Adleramine in the human body. This eventually instigates the mysterious and mind-altering symptoms of Adlerian Syndrome.

Keys: moon program, Apollo, Apollo program

The Apollo program was an initiative of great promise and ambition, aiming to establish the United States as the foremost leader in space exploration. However, during the Apollo 11 mission, a catastrophic failure occurred in the ascent stage of the Lunar Module "Eagle." The malfunction resulted in a disastrous loss, claiming the lives of the astronauts on board. The world watched in shock and mourning as heroes Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin met their untimely ends, not in the expanse of space, but on the surface of our celestial neighbor. Public faith in the American space program was severely shaken, and there was an outpouring of grief and anger. Critics pointed towards the immense costs of the Apollo program, arguing that the risks involved were too high and the financial burden on the nation unjustifiable. The dream of American dominance in space seemed to have been buried on the moon alongside its fallen astronauts. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union, observing the unfolding crisis in the United States, seized the opportunity to take the lead in the space race. With the lunar tragedy as a stark warning, they invested heavily in refining their space technology, making reliability and cost-effectiveness their top priorities. As a result, Soviet space technology advanced significantly and at a more sustainable cost, allowing them to maintain their momentum even as the Americans were scaling back. The much-delayed Apollo 12 mission finally takes place, but the momentous event is overshadowed by the Soviet Union's accelerating space advancements. After that, despite the exorbitant costs, Apollo 13 and 14 are launched in 1979. However, these missions are significantly overshadowed by the Soviet Union's establishment of Lunograd in 1977, the first permanent lunar outpost and then went on to pioneer the first manned mission to Mars.

Keys: Krasnikov Tube, space travel, Krasnikov Drive, interstellar travel

The Soviets revolutionized interstellar travel with the development of the Krasnikov Drive. Rather than relying on traditional propulsion methods, this technology bends space-time to create a tunnel, or "tube", between two points. The process works like this: the Krasnikov Drive first identifies the target point in space, then generates a highly localized field of negative energy density. This field effectively 'stretches' space-time, creating a temporary tunnel - the Krasnikov Tube - which allows the spacecraft to bypass the conventional limits of space travel. As the ship enters the tube, it moves through a compressed space, substantially reducing the distance to the target. This process doesn't meddle with the flow of time - it just reshapes the spatial pathway to the destination. The journey might still take months or years, but it's significantly faster than conventional propulsion could ever achieve.

   Keys: Sergei Krasnikov, Krasnikov

Krasnikov obtained a doctorate (CSc.) in physics and mathematics from Leningrad State University, where he dedicated himself to the study of general relativity. His crowning achievement came in 1995, when he proposed the theoretical basis for what would later become the Krasnikov Drive. In 2007, after years of research and development, he achieved a significant breakthrough: a prototype of the Krasnikov Drive. The experiment was a success, demonstrating that the manipulation of negative energy fields to create a 'Krasnikov Tube' was more than a theoretical possibility.

    Keys: Cassette Exchange Incident

During a scientific collaboration between the Soviet Union and Japan on geothermal energy research, a team of Japanese scientists was invited to visit one of the USSR's high-security research facilities. Among them was an astute Japanese engineer, who was aware of the Soviet Union's less rigorous security protocols and prevailing bureaucratic corruption. Driven by curiosity and a keen sense of opportunity, he wandered into an inadequately guarded area of the facility. Stumbling upon a set of intricate schematics he quickly recognized as far exceeding the scope of their project. Seeing an opportunity, he struck a deal with a low-level employee offering his Panasonic Cassette Player in exchange for a photocopy of the blueprints. These blueprints, as it turned out, were for the not-yet-public Krasnikov Drive. This unexpected acquisition was discreetly reported to the Japanese government's upper echelons. Thus, through the Cassette Exchange Incident Japan found itself in possession of the blueprints for the Krasnikov Drive, propelling them forward in the interstellar travel race.

    Keys: Rain

The rainwater, carrying the dense, energy-rich Adlerite molecules, seeps into the fertile soils of New Adler, feeding the roots of the towering ferns and amethyst trees. The flora of New Adler, evolved to thrive in these unique conditions, metabolize Adlerite with the help of exo-enzymes, transforming it into energy for growth and reproduction. Zvezdniy syrup, in its pure form, is heavy and viscous, accumulating in vast underground reservoirs. When a storm brews in the skies of New Adler, the atmospheric pressure changes and triggers a natural pump-action, forcing the syrup to the surface through a network of natural springs and geysers. The skyward sprays of syrup get caught up in the storm's turbulent winds, mixing with the rainwater and becoming dilute enough to shower down onto the landscapes below. The rains are a riot of color, ranging from a sunlit golden to a twilight purple, depending on the intensity of Adlerite concentration and the angle of sunlight. Upon reaching the surface, the zvezdniy syrup begins to infiltrate the entire ecosystem. It seeps into the soil, nourishing the flora. Some of it evaporates, forming clouds and contributing to the next rainfall, creating a continuous cycle. The Adleramine, a volatile compound within zvezdniy syrup, tends to exist in a vapor state at New Adler's ambient temperatures, giving the planet's air a distinctive, mildly sweet scent. As part of the planet's atmospheric composition, Adleramine can be ingested through respiration, which, combined with the consumption of Stellarose-tainted local fruits and vegetables, facilitates the buildup of these compounds in the settlers' bodies. The Stellarose, unlike Adleramine, is more stable and tends to accumulate in liquid bodies and the tissue of New Adler's unique flora, especially in their fruits and tubers. As a result, even the most basic necessities like water and food carry this complex sugar analog, leading to an almost unavoidable intake of Stellarose by settlers. The collective consumption of Adleramine-laced air and Stellarose-infused food and water gradually triggers the onset of Adlerian Syndrome.

    Keys: Ocean, Sea

The oceans of New Adler are an exceptional feature of the planet, known for their distinctive high salinity and surprising absence of marine life, including microscopic organisms. Covering large swathes of the planet's surface, these vast bodies of water exhibit a vibrant sapphire hue, intensifying under the ambient starlight due to the presence of Adlerite dust carried by the wind. New Adler's oceans bear a striking resemblance to Earth's seas in terms of salinity, with high concentrations of sodium and chloride ions. This likeness suggests a comparable path of planetary evolution to Earth, yet the barren state of the oceans seems to contradict this. The waters remain inexplicably uninhabited, causing widespread scientific speculation regarding the planet's evolutionary history. A notable phenomenon is the oceans' alien luminescence under the starry sky, an effect attributed to Adlerite dust interaction. Despite their salty composition, the oceans remain devoid of life, creating an eerie and almost spectral scene. The only observable activity within these seas is the rhythmic ebb and flow of tides, governed by the gravitational pull of New Adler's twin moons. This constant tidal movement is often regarded as the planet's "pulse," though it remains lifeless beneath the water's surface. The unexplained absence of marine life on New Adler has become a subject of intense scientific interest and debate. Some theories suggest an alternative path of evolution, where life on New Adler evolved solely on land and in the sky, bypassing the oceanic phase completely. Others postulate a historic catastrophic event that could have sterilized the oceans, rerouting the course of evolution. The lack of definitive answers leaves these theories open.

Given the situation in the United States, the Irani receive little support from the West. As the conflict rages on, the USSR begins to regain some influence in Iraq by providing military aid. 1991: As the U.S. further withdraws from Middle Eastern affairs due to its internal issues, Iraq and the USSR begin a period of rapprochement. The USSR increases its support in rebuilding Iraq's war-torn infrastructure and economy, while Iraq offers the Soviets access to its vast oil reserves. 1992 - 2000: Iraq, with technical assistance from the USSR, makes significant advancements in petroleum refining technology, becoming a major global player in the oil industry. These advancements help to fund a period of rapid economic growth and modernization within Iraq. 2000s: Iraq's relationship with the USSR deepens despite the lack of a formal alliance or shared ideology. Iraq remains one of the few non-communist countries to maintain friendly relations with the USSR, acting as a significant trading partner and political ally in the Middle East. 2007: The first Iraqi astronaut, Tariq Abdullah, launches into space as part of a Soviet mission. This event, celebrated widely in both Iraq and the USSR, symbolizes the countries' successful partnership and shared ambition for space exploration.

    Keys: atmosphere, Oxygen

The atmosphere of New Adler is primarily composed of nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2) making it breathable for humans. Unlike Earth, New Adler's atmosphere contains slightly higher levels of oxygen, around 23% compared to Earth's 21%, causing an initial period of euphoria and increased vitality in the settlers as their bodies adapt to the increased oxygen availability. However, this potentially leads to an increased risk of fires due to the enhanced oxygen concentration. Another striking feature is the significant amount of noble gases, such as neon and argon, present in the atmosphere. New Adler has daytime skies that shimmer in a light cerulean blue and nights that glow with a faint neon luminescence. The presence of Adleramine as part of the atmospheric composition adds a mildly sweet scent to the air. Periodic winds on the planet carry fine particles of Adlerite dust from the high mountain ranges. Whenever these particles come in contact with the water, they ignite, creating sparks above the surface of the lakes and oceans.

Keys: Planet, New Adler, Novy Adler

New Adler, a planet larger than Earth, has a gravitational pull about 1.2 times our own, causing mild discomfort and adjustments in movement for humans. Its surface is an archipelago, dotted with thousands of islands of various sizes surrounded by a singular, extensive ocean. This large body of water covers approximately 80% of the planet's surface, with the remaining area divided amongst the myriad of islands. The topography of the islands varies greatly, from flat tropical paradises to towering craggy cliffs, densely forested regions to open plains, each having its own unique coloration of vegetation. Despite this diversity, New Adler remains seismically serene. There's little to no tectonic activity, and the terrain is generally stable. However, the air is often pierced by the intermittent roars of active geysers, spouting high into the alien sky. New Adler's biosphere is an enigma. The land is dense with unusual alien flora, with entire ecosystems functioning without a shred of animal life or microbes. A stark contrast to Earth's ecosystems, the planet appears to have developed an alternative means of nutrient recycling, potentially based on complex chemical reactions involving Adlerite and the rain. Despite the constant interaction between the settlers and the environment, terrestrial microbes brought over by the colonists seem unable to gain a foothold outside of the Ogonek-1 colony area. The exact reason for this is still under investigation.

Keys: Yak-141, Jet, Yak-141K, Yak, Plane

The Yakovlev Yak-141 was once a proud symbol of Soviet naval aviation. Now repurposed by the Kosmicheskoe Byuro Ekspeditsiy (Cosmic Bureau of Expeditions or Cosmoburo) for their exploratory missions on New Adler. Designated as Yak-141K (Kosmicheskiy) in its new role, these aircraft were retired from their naval service and extensively retrofitted for their interstellar journey. The original turbofan engines were replaced with custom-designed units capable of utilizing Adlerite-based fuel, a critical adaptation for operating in New Adler's unique environment. The new engines, while maintaining the original's vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities, are specifically designed to be efficient, durable, and, importantly, easy to maintain. They incorporate a self-diagnostic system, enabling simple troubleshooting even with minimal personnel on the ground. In terms of design, the Yak-141K eschews the complexity of its naval predecessor. Its airframe is simplified, focusing on reliability and ease of maintenance. Non-essential systems were stripped away, leaving only what was necessary for reliable flight and survivability in the alien environment. The advanced radar have been removed. In their place, a suite of scientific instruments and communication systems were installed, facilitating research and data gathering. In a significant design alteration, the Yak-141K was reconfigured to a two-seat layout. This allowed for one crew member to pilot the aircraft while the other operates the scientific and communication equipment. It also increased the overall safety and efficiency of the operations, as duties could be divided, minimizing the workload of individual crew members during complex exploratory missions. Despite the extensive modifications, the increase in gravity on New Adler and new engine does limit the Yak-141K's operational range. It now operates primarily in short, quick sorties, providing rapid response and scouting capabilities. The Yak-141K also plays a pivotal role in surveying the unexplored regions of the planet, its VTOL capabilities proving invaluable in the island-dominated landscape. As for armaments, while the Yak-141K no longer carries them as standard, a stockpile of weaponry is maintained within Ogonek-1. Cosmoburo while focused on peaceful exploration, recognizes the potential for unwelcome visitors. The aircraft can be quickly armed if necessary, turning the research-oriented Yak-141K back into a formidable deterrent, ready to protect the interests of the Motherland.

Adlerian Syndrome is a condition unique to prolonged exposure to the environment of New Adler. The condition is primarily characterized by a blurring of the boundaries between waking and dreaming states, leading to a host of cognitive and perceptual abnormalities. As the syndrome progresses, affected individuals may experience vivid hallucinations, time distortions, mood swings, and even begin to lose their grasp on personal identity. In extreme cases, patients may manifest symptoms resembling depersonalization or derealization, feeling detached from their bodies or questioning the reality of their surroundings. Strangely, there have been reports of individuals experiencing shared hallucinations, suggesting a level of interconnectivity that defies conventional medical understanding. The Adlerian Syndrome is attributed to the gradual accumulation of Adleramine in the human body, a process facilitated by the consumption of zvezdniy syrup and prolonged exposure to the airborne compound. Despite these established connections, the syndrome's precise mechanisms remain enigmatic, partly due to its distinctive characteristic of rapid remission. Astonishingly, once removed from the planet's environment, individuals affected by Adlerian Syndrome recover almost instantly, despite Adleramine traces remaining in their blood. This unusual trait has puzzled scientists, and to date, no comprehensive explanation has been found. One marginal theory, generally dismissed by the mainstream Soviet scientific community, suggests that Adlerian Syndrome's symptoms are not a direct consequence of Adleramine but are instead the result of New Adler's alien ecosystem interacting with the human subconscious. Proponents of this theory posit that the human mind may be resonating with some form of planetary consciousness, the effects of which are amplified by the presence of Adleramine in the body. This idea is largely discredited and often ridiculed within mainstream circles due to its speculative and untestable nature. A second fringe theory postulates that New Adler has a field of quantum entanglement enveloping the planet, and Adleramine acts as a mediator, connecting the minds of the colonists to this quantum field. This theory posits that shared hallucinations, dreams, and sudden remission of symptoms are all a result of fluctuations within this quantum field.

    Keys: First expedition, Zarya-Adler 1

The Zarya-Adler 1 mission commences with a half-year journey through the Krasnikov Tube, a passage of warped space-time making faster-than-light travel to the Tau Ceti system feasible. Upon arrival, the cosmonauts land on New Adler, stepping onto the alien world with a sense of awe and purpose. During their brief week-long stay, the cosmonauts undertake numerous scientific tasks. They confirm the planet's atmosphere is breathable and, after initial tests, remove their helmets, becoming the first humans to breathe air on an extrasolar planet. They also collect a diverse array of samples - rock, soil, flora, and water from a local body resembling an earthly lake. However, towards the end of the mission, two of the cosmonauts inadvertently fall into the lake during sample collection, ingesting some of the alien water. In the following days, they start to exhibit early symptoms of what would later be known as the Adlerian Syndrome.

    Keys: Second expedition, Zarya-Adler 2

The Zarya-Adler 2 mission launches, carrying with it the heavy responsibility of establishing the first human colony on an extrasolar planet. After another six-month journey through the Krasnikov Tube, the crew lands on New Adler. This time, they're here for the long haul - several months of construction and setup, a far cry from the brief exploration trip of their predecessors. With the blueprints for Ogonek-1 Colony in hand and a mission plan seared into their minds, the crewmembers begin to transform the alien landscape. They assemble habitat modules, set up energy harvesting equipment, and lay the groundwork for scientific labs. All the while, they continue to make use of New Adler's own resources, further integrating themselves into the alien ecosystem. The mission seems to progress well, though not without its difficulties when crew experienced symptoms of the later-named Adlerian Syndrome. This time, the syndrome starts to show itself in a more pervasive manner. One by one, the crew members begin to display signs of the syndrome. At first, it's dismissed as fatigue from the labor-intensive mission, but as the symptoms progress, the crew realizes it's something more. The mission captain meticulously records the symptoms and their progression, transmitting this critical information back to Earth. Communication with Earth is more fluid this time around, thanks to the ongoing Zarya-Adler 3 mission, which is en route to New Adler. The Krasnikov Tube is actively distorting space-time between Earth and New Adler, allowing for relatively rapid communication. Messages sent from New Adler reach Earth in a week, a significant improvement over previous limitations. Despite the ongoing health concerns, the crew perseveres, finalizing the Ogonek-1 Colony as a fully functional outpost for future explorers. However, just weeks before the arrival of Zarya-Adler 3, all communication from New Adler abruptly ceases. The Zarya-Adler 2 crew, having performed their duty in setting up Ogonek-1, are never heard from again. They vanish, leaving behind a fully operational colony as their legacy, a ghost town waiting for new residents who are already on their way. The incoming Zarya-Adler 3 crew were not just faced with the mystery of a missing crew, but also awaited the haunting chronicles of this deserted settlement - the logs of Captain Sergey Prokopyev.

Log Entry #45 - Captain Sergey Prokopyev

We're a world away, and yet home feels both a million miles distant and just around the corner. Today we laid the foundations of Ogonek-1. Hard work, yes, but rewarding. The alien soil beneath my gloves feels strangely comforting, like an affirmation of our human ability to adapt, to conquer. The forest of New Adler, though alien, is alluring, the towering canopies sparkling under the alien sun, the subtle rustle of unfamiliar foliage whispering promises of new discovery.

    Log Entry #53

The Syndrome. It's starting to affect us all. There's a tightness in the chest, a constant nagging headache. Nothing we can't handle for now, but it's there, creeping, spreading. The doctors back home dismiss it as stress, but it feels… different. Unearthly. The forest watches us, serene and silent, as if mocking our frailty.

    Log Entry #65

The dreams have started. Always the same - the forest. It's not menacing or threatening, no. It's… welcoming, inviting. I wake up feeling more rested than ever, the images of the Adlerian trees imprinted on my mind, their peculiar green hue more vivid in the silence of the dreams. We are so small in the grand scheme of things, just visitors in the vastness of the cosmos.

    Log Entry #77

We've lost our smiles, replaced by blank, tired stares. The Syndrome's grip tightens. We're on borrowed time, I fear. Yet, there's a strange harmony in the midst of this chaos, an acceptance of our fate. The forest, our constant backdrop, our silent observer, seems to understand. Its otherworldly hum is soothing, a gentle lullaby to our weary souls.

    Final Log

The Forest. It is ancient, wise, infinite. It pulses with a life force beyond our comprehension, a heartbeat of the planet. We may not have been the first to step foot here, nor will we be the last. The Forest sees all, knows all. It does not judge, it simply exists. Our human presence, our struggles, our victories, are but a fleeting moment in its timeless existence. We are but transient guests, and it... it is the ever-enduring host.

Keys: Zarya-Adler 3, Third expedition, Mission

The Zarya-Adler 3 mission held the weight of the Soviet Cosmoburo's high hopes and ambitions. Despite the ominous disappearance of the Zarya-Adler 2 crew, the third expedition was expected to adapt to the circumstances and continue the original mission. After a six-month journey through the Krasnikov Tube, the crew of Zarya-Adler 3, a mix of cosmonauts, engineers, and scientists, finally arrived in the Tau Ceti system. The primary objective was to establish Ogonek-1 as a self-sustaining colony. The plans involved making use of the local water sources and cultivating indigenous vegetation for sustenance. An integral part of the mission was the Yakovlev Yak-141, a versatile aircraft that had been adapted for use in alien environments. It was expected to provide the crew with increased mobility and the ability to explore larger areas of New Adler's surface. An additional goal was to investigate the potential of the native zvezdniy syrup as a renewable energy source. Studies conducted on Earth had shown promise, but the real test would be extracting and refining it on New Adler. It was a risky proposition, but the potential payoff was massive: a truly self-sufficient off-world colony, capable of sustaining itself indefinitely with little to no input from Earth. Cosmoburo insisted that the Adlerian Syndrome was merely a psychological reaction to the psychoactive properties of the syrup. They urged the crew to be aware of potential alterations in their mood and mental state, but downplayed the possibility of severe physical symptoms. It was considered a necessary risk, an acceptable price for the unprecedented opportunity of interstellar colonization. Upon their arrival at Ogonek-1, the crew was greeted by an eerily silent colony, fully operational but devoid of human life. The only evidence of the Zarya-Adler 2 crew were the meticulous and haunting logs left behind by Captain Sergey Prokopyev.

    Keys: Bureau, Cosmoburo

The Cosmic Bureau of Expeditions, or Kosmicheskoe Byuro Ekspeditsiy (Космическое Бюро Экспедиций), commonly referred to as "Cosmoburo," was officially established in 1978 following the creation of Lunograd. It was the driving force behind the Soviet Union's expansion into space, charting mankind's path to distant worlds. Cosmoburo was a product of both idealistic space pioneers and pragmatic political figureheads. As it blossomed into a cornerstone of the Soviet Union's bureaucratic structure, it adopted a dual role. Not only was it the epicenter of interstellar exploration, but it also served as a potent instrument of political propaganda. From its inception, Cosmoburo was shrouded in patriotic mystique, its cosmonauts hailed as national heroes, and its missions trumpeted as proof of the Soviet Union's scientific might and insatiable ambition. The narrative surrounding Cosmoburo's expeditions was carefully choreographed, intertwining the success of space exploration with the story of Soviet dominance, bolstering national unity and pride. However, the need to maintain this narrative often led Cosmoburo to make bold, sometimes impulsive decisions. The organization was frequently propelled to take risks to uphold its reputation, launching expeditions at a rapid pace, often with insufficient preparation time. This approach, while serving to bolster the Soviet Union's global prestige, also contributed to hasty, ill-considered choices. The rushed Zarya-Centauri mission in 2017, timed to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the October Revolution, stands as a testament to this propensity.

    Keys: Alcohol, Arak, Booze, Moonshine

To distill Adlerian Arak, zvezdniy syrup is first fermented with local water and yeast from the Earth. The yeast targets the syrup's Stellarose component, transforming sugars into alcohol, potentially intensified by the syrup's unique exo-enzymes. Following fermentation, the mixture is distilled using repurposed lab equipment. The initial distillation yields a raw spirit, rich in volatile compounds. A subsequent distillation, incorporating fresh zvezdniy syrup, focuses on extracting desirable alcohol vapors, ensuring a higher presence of Adleramine and Stellarose. The final Arak possesses a rich flavor from the alien constituents of the syrup. It's aged for a week, allowing Adleramine and other compounds to mellow and enrich the spirit's taste and strength. Caution is paramount due to the syrup's combustible Adlerite content. Distillation extracts most alcohol but reduces Stellarose, whereas Adleramine, with a lower boiling point, persists, which can accumulate in consumers, offering a unique light psychoactive touch distinct from typical spirits. While Adlerian Arak's high Adleramine content doesn't directly exacerbate Adlerian Syndrome more than other consumables, its reduced Stellarose, essential for regulating Adleramine's metabolism, is noteworthy. The Arak's distillation and aging could modify Adleramine's properties, producing a distinct biochemical reaction different from consuming local flora. This altered interaction might contribute to the unique light psychoactive effect observed in consumers of Adlerian Arak. It's crucial to note that this effect is not yet fully understood.

    Keys: Fuel

Fuel production process described below. Extraction: Adlerite is derived from zvezdniy syrup using methods like centrifugation. The process also yields Stellarose and Adleramine, valuable by-products. Purification: Once the Adlerite is separated, it needs to be purified. This could be achieved through further refining methods like fractional distillation, which relies on the different boiling points of the compounds to separate them. This process might need to be repeated several times to obtain a high-purity Adlerite. Adlerite Cracking: With a supply of pure Adlerite, the next stage involves a unique process known as Adlerite cracking. Given the high energy potential of the molecule, a controlled degradation process is carried out using a makeshift catalytic cracker, designed from repurposed thruster components. This process breaks down the complex Adlerite molecules into simpler ones, creating a highly combustible Adlerite fuel. Storage and Usage: This fuel powers colony machinery and operations. The Adlerite molecules are fed into specially adapted engines where combustion occurs. The unique self-oxidizing properties of Adlerite allow it to burn without the need for an external oxygen source, making it ideal for power generation under New Adler's alien conditions. Waste Management: Post-combustion, Adlerite's phosphate residues serve as fertilizers, promoting sustainable agriculture on New Adler.

    Keys: Jungles, Jungle

The Obsidian Jungle, situated in proximity to the Ogonek-1 Colony, serves as both a daunting obstacle and a valuable resource for the residents of New Adler. Characterized by its high density of jet-black vegetation, the Obsidian Jungle was named for its dark, glass-like appearance, reminiscent of volcanic obsidian on Earth. The jungle appears as a seemingly impenetrable wall of obsidian, a stark contrast to the colorful fruits and flowers that speckle the darkness. These fruits, their vivid colors made all the more striking against the black foliage, offer a bounty of sustenance for the colonists. They are rich in nutrition and their consumption—though accompanied by the risk of exacerbating the Adlerian Syndrome—has become a necessary part of life on New Adler. Obsidian Jungle has earned a reputation for mysterious phenomena—strange sounds, lights, and even shifts in the terrain that defy understanding. Some speculate that the Adlerite-rich environment could be giving rise to undiscovered natural phenomena, while others suspect the influence of previously unknown life forms. Navigation within the jungle is a challenging task. The thick canopy above allows for minimal light, and the undergrowth beneath is a chaotic maze of flora. Even the ground beneath is not constant, with the constant, slow churn of the Adlerite-rich soil causing unsettling shifts in the landscape. To combat this, the colonists devised a system of improvised markers by using the available materials at the base, creating reflective foil markers that were designed to reflect any light, making them visible even in low-light conditions. Despite their efforts, navigation remains a treacherous task. The movement of the flora, driven by unknown mechanisms, often results in markers being swallowed or relocated, causing even the most carefully marked paths to change unpredictably.

    Keys: Adleramine

Adleramine's chemical formula is C2H5N, akin to ethylamine, which affects neurotransmitters. The combination of Stellarose and Adleramine in the zvezdniy syrup triggers the onset of Adlerian Syndrome upon prolonged exposure. The ingestion of this syrup, either directly or indirectly leads to a gradual buildup of Adleramine in the human body. The properties of the Stellarose molecule slows Adleramine metabolism, causing accumulation in the body and altering brain neurotransmitter activity. This interaction induces the Syndrome's mysterious and mind-altering effects.
