Mako tilted her head left, then right, checking her ponytail. She leaned closer to the mirror, pressing a fingertip to the corner of her lip where a tiny smudge of gloss was. Fixed it. She pulled at the hem of her black tube top, adjusting where it sat against her skin.

A grin spread across her face. She giggled, covering her mouth with one hand, then dropped it. Her eyes stayed on her reflection. She leaned in close enough that her nose almost touched the glass.

She held her own gaze for another second, then pushed off the sink and stepped back. She grabbed her phone from the counter, checked the time, and shoved it into the small side pocket of her skirt. She let the questions hang without waiting for answers. Her smirk widened.

"Hey, I told you though. Should've just chosen me from the start." She giggled, leaning forward in the chair, elbows coming to rest on the desk next to her. "I wouldn't have broken your heart like that, you know? I'm way better than her. At everything."
